[Q] BLN support for ICS kernel/rom - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it impossible to add BLN to a ICS kernel/rom? I'll be the first to install a ICS rom with BLN working.

Just wait until Samsung release necessary kernel source code.
You'll know when it happens, because a zillion noobs will each make their own unique thread announcing it.

Not until Samsung release sources. Then the devs will get all excited and go into a sleepless frenzy just to keep us happy.
Edit:
Beaten!

Ok! Sorry. I thought the ICS sources we're released. But the kernel sources aren't included? Too bad.

[Q] [ROM] Cronos Froyo 1.6.0

Why Cronos Froyo is out of this forum?
It is the most stable and solid rom I tried on my Hero and I currently use this.
See the link below for more informations:
Linking to banned user's site is not permitted, per egzthunder1 and stericson's explanation posts
Yes its good, but Feeyo was banned from XDA-Developers.

Pff you can discuss that ban...
Hey... I was wondering why he got banned, I was hanging round off topic when he got banned, and only when I came back I realised
i've to say, the best 2.1 rom came from feeyo, solid, fast and clean
still have to try 2.2 though...anyway, it's not much an effort to go on his own forum, it's easy to find on google

That is a loooooooooooooooooooooooong loooooooooooooooooooooooong story That would take me like an hour to fully explain...
If I am not mistaken the short version is something like:
If and when Feeyo makes his kernel sources public he can come back.

Ah Okay
Thanks
The source in question was the 32 kernel if i recall correctly. As far as i know, feeyo does not even have his original source on that anymore, and feeyo has been making his other source available to anyone who asks.

As herandroid said he has made his sources public but he cannot come back since he made some accounts after he was banned I think.

I have minimal understanding of what you devs needs for sources but here? I think the kernel source is up to date but the name hasn't been changed but I'm not sure (it's the CK29- one). Is this correct?

What we "devs" call sources is: a group of files which when downloaded to a properly configured linux system, it is possible to build them and, get this, even run them on an actual hero device!
For example: https://github.com/erasmux/hero-2.6.29-flykernel
On my FlyKernel post you can find detailed instruction on how to build it, and if you have a linux system and are interested, you should be able to build my kernel with no problems.
EDIT: damn, again reading too fast. The CK29- one, does look like kernel sources, and I am sorry but don't have time now to download them and try and compile them. But did Feeyo really not update his kernel since august?
EDIT2: From the Cronos 1.6.0 release notes:
Release notes:
21 Nov 2010 | Cronos Froyo 1.6.0:
...
* New Kernel tweaks.
...
Where are these tweaks?

On Feeyo's github, the only thing which seems like its sources for a kernel is this one:
https://github.com/Feeyo/cm-kernel-32A-Magic
These are obviously sources for a kernel for the Magic device and not the hero....

Okay then I guess I'll ask him...
Please see my edits above. I tend to read posts way to fast, I was sure I checked all the repositories on Feeyos github before posting my original one, but after I noticed you said its "CK29-", I rechecked it.....

Those tweaks you can find in 30tweaks under init.d in one of his kernel flashable zip.
Yes the kernel has been updated and it has been updated A LOT. I'm guessing Feeyo probably hasn't bothered updating his kernel but I'll ask him about it
EDIT: He has been trying out some very experimental stuff like compiling with a new toolchain and he is also very busy ATM. I think he said he would compile a new kernel with the old toolchain since the new one wasn't that good so maybe he is waiting till he get a proper kernel to release. That could also be it.
EDIT2: He just told me it was not the toolchain but a Linux kernel patch
I am sorry, but I don't have time for these games. Feeyo, does not wish to share his kernel sources. It his right, not his legal right, but still his decision.
Personally, the events that caused his banning do not sit well with me and I think it would have been better if they had never happened.
That said, it does not change the fact, Feeyo, for reasons only he knows, does not share his work with others, quite the opposite.
I will not waste any more of my time on supposed sources for his kernels, which, at best, are old sources which he really used at the time.
Okay whatever I don't understand this... I'm going to link this thread to Feeyo though...
I would love to see such talented developers such as feeyo and erasmux working together. Yeah i know, feeyo has to publish his sources, your are all right. I hope Cfreak can get him doing this.
The dev. at the hero section is getting really quiet.
I think the point is the villian team. They are making really good ROMs but when Feeyo came to XDA he delivered a very nice ROM. Noobody was very nice to him only said "play by rules, give me your sources". I think you get him in a very wrong way. He is a nice guy and very friendly over Cronos Forum, doing a great job and very intersting in new things. It would be a pleaure to welcome Feeyo back on board here but i think you all scared him.
Sorry for my bad english.

Any way to add BLN to my Voodoo kernel?

I love BLN...and I love my Nero w/ Voodoo...but I want to add BLN support without flashing a new kernel...anybody know how?
Sent from my XDA app cuz I'm stalking your mom....
I believe The BLN kernel source was never released, therefore it can not be built into anything else.

Not possible. BLN require kernel source to work, unlike the current implementation of voodoo.

ok...thanks
Actually I believe BLN was originally developed on the I9000 kernel by Unhelpful and first ported to a Vibrant kernel by ttabbal. The kernel source should be available per ttabbal's comments in the thread with hist first kernel release with BLN.
I'm sure a kernel developer can take the stock kernel source and merge voodoo and the BLN code but you'd probably have an easier time requesting Team Whiskey add it to their future releases.

actually, BLN code is released. The problem is for 2.2 kernels for the vibrant, there is no source released yet. However, ttabbal does have some i9k kernels that support voodoo and bln.
But to add bln to a stock 2.2 vibrant kernel is impossible right now.

[KERNEL][BETA] RAGEmod v1-T30

---NEW KERNEL THREAD---
This kernel is based on Hardcore's SpeedMod K1-T30 Kernel
Why another kernel?? Because I can, I like the challenge and I can probably do it as well as any other?
Features:
support for SetCPU OC (upto 1400MHz)
UV between 800mV and 1400mV
support for Boot Animation
support for BLN
SpeedMod K1-T30 initramfs + boot animation
SpeedMod K1-T30 kernel source patches
Samsung Update 2 Applied (as per K1-T30
CIFS working
Charging touch sensitivity fix.
The goal of this kernel is to take the battery savings gained from HardCORE's kernel and allow undervolting and underclocking to further improve battery life. I added Boot Animation and BLN support just because I could.
As usual, this kernel could break your hardware, so only flash if you are not concerned with bricking your device.
That said, I have flashed this kernel on my device and it still works.
Thanks also to the authors of Ninphetamine kernel - their SetCPU supporting code was the basis for the SetCPU support in this kernel, I have also used BLN code from their Git Repository, thanks to creams.
Change Log:
v1-T26 - public release based on SpeedMod K1-T26
Added BLN support
Added SetCPU support
Added UV support
Added bootanimation support
v1-T27 - updated base to SpeedMod K1-T27
v2-T27 - updated base to Samsung Update 2
Same feature set as previous versions
CIFS working
Closest match to SpeedMod K1-T27 but with Samsung Update 2 sources
Touch sensitivity fix from ninphetamine.
v1-T30 - updated base to SpeedMod K1-T30
Same feature set as previous versions
Future plans:
Keep up with SpeedMod current releases as they happen and source patches are released.
NOTE FOR ALL:
Patch files are for developers, not end users.
Source patches attached for developers - apply against Samsung Update1 sources.
Source patch for v2-T27 and newer to be applied against Samsung Update2 sources.
Gonna try this for sure , always loved Hardcore kernel, back in the Gti9000 times, but i think that OC/UV is something missing in his kernel. I'll report when i'll have tried it out ^^. Thanks !
nice.. waiting for you to update to t26..then will give it a go

Typical Victorian!!! Oblivious to the rest of the world.
Good to see many Kernel developers coming on board
May be its time to disclose the sources and GPL as other KERNEL threads being locked for want of it.
Other developers whose initial thoughts/ideas was reused will benifit everyone if what you have achieved over and above will make the original Kernel even more robust

I fully intend on posting a patch file, just not at a computer where I have access to my sources!
First - thanks for this project!
Second - I tried your kernel and I have had some problems with haptic feedback on my phone, it doesn´t work.
Edit: I´m on Darky base XXKH3..

Thanks for that, I didn't even notice that Haptic feedback wasn't working!
Great work !!
Just tried it and No problem so far.
Wait for your next update, based on Hardcore's SpeedMod T26
cheers
Works great for me, too!
Just as already mentioned above haptic feedback isn't working, but I don't use that anyway.
I guess this kernel is in the wrong section. Although I do admit that this requires far more skills winzipping a rom together, this is basically a matchup of ninphetamine and speedmod, and therefore has nothing to do with original rom development.
Well, it's not a cut and paste coding job if that's what you're implying, I studied the required code from Niphetamine and implemented it (but reduced speed limits and subsequently speed steps) in the source for SpeedMod.
IMPORTANT: all vibration not working in first beta. Will fix and repost. Sorry, but it is a beta!

If you can please mod the T26 to add these futures: Bootanimation,BLN, OC and UV. Very ngood to see more and more kernel options available. Thanks for your work man

Can't code for toffee, wondering how difficult it is to alter said limits/steps and put them in another source?
Genuinely curious - doesn't sound tough, I stand to be corrected and/or educated.

[INFO] Custom Kernels For CM7

Edit: Now CM7 is stable, can we plz get custom kernels
Old:
Kernel Devs refrain from making custom kernels for CM7 because the CM team asked them not to, in the alpha stage of the development.
Today i asked Atinm if he could give the green light to the Devs, he replied:
atinm said:
Actually, we don't care if people run other kernels. We just say that we will not debug other people's kernels - so if you have bugs, you go to the kernel developer's threads. Same as on the other Galaxy phones. And there is more chance of your phone being unstable with each nightly when you are on a different kernel and we change the kernel.

I had scaling issues with the stock kernel so i'm looking forward to this.
Great to see this.
I have 2questions.
1. Once we have these kernels will we be be able to flash files to enable Samsung stuff like Samsung dive, camera etc
2. Will new kernels be able to incorporate files from stock rom to fix the Bluetooth issue.
Thanks

CM 7.1 Stable has working bluetooth, and it wasn't a kernel issue, it was a driver source problem, Cyanogen either cracked it ahead of everyone else, or, got access to the missing source code, either way, winning like Charlie Sheen.
I have added my i9100 CyanogenMod 7.1 kernel with BLN support.
Details available here.

[ROM][AOSP][JB][4.1.2][JZO54K] SuperNexus - I9100G - and BLN?

Hey guys! so I just updated my build 4 to build 5 I'm fixing up this phone for my girl and she fell in love with the looks of it.
Now my problem is that I"m trying to get BLN to work! but it says my kernel does not support it. I'm confused as the creator of this rom says he is using CM kernel (i take that's cynogenmod kernel? which does support it or well it did back in cm9 on my t-mo s2). Did I misunderstand this?
At any rate can some one tell me what kernel to install to make bln work? most of the ones I found on this website say they work for aokp aosp and cm9/cm10 but none for SuperNexus.
thank you for your time! and pardon the grammar.

Yea I mean the notes say the kernel is based on CM, and I'm afraid to install a different kernel and have the phone brick on me.
