[Q] Bent pins 40 pin charging/docking port - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I bent the pins on the charging/docking port, can a reasonably capable civilian replace it?
Any links to part suppliers?

i highly doubt there are parts available so far..
you probably end up having it send to asus for repair..
u tried ebay?

Yes I tried Ebay no listing. Thanks.

I am in the same boat, I noticed that there is no centre section to the hold the pins straight like on the Tablet. This is concerning to me as the pins will always be getting bent. I am going to try and straighten mine with tweezers.
Next I am going to try and use a USB kit on that connector to get another USB port. So I really don't want bent pins..

Ditto on the bent pins...this is a serious design flaw. Anyone have any luck fixing it?

Has anybody found the part for this?
(My port broke)

The problem is a poorly designed internal docking cable. Send it in for RMA repair and it will be fixed at no cost for the repair.

Asus Speaker Doc W/ Power and USB Ports

Well, looks like China is at it again. they now have a speaker doc on ebay with a plug for power and usb ports. I guess take a look and see what you all think.

I hope this at least helps some one out or someone has already bought one of these and can comment on it.
clicking on the link I just get redirected to the eBay main page .....
Looks fairly cheap. Just a powered usb hub with a 3.5mm jack that runs to speakers inside. Plastic arms wide enough to universally accommodate any tablet/phone (maybe). pretty sure this wouldn't power the TF, and the speakers probably wont be worth the $20. good find though, I'm also interested in user review if anyone snags one.
Yep, says its universal and Supports Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101, ACER ICONIA TAB W500, ACER ICONIA TAB A500, iPad 2, iPad 1,etc,all 7''-10'' tablet PC so clearly wouldn't charge the TF which would be the only reason to buy IMHO.

[Q] Lapdock replacement parts

Does anyone have a site to buy replacement lapdock parts?
I need to grab a connector from the dock to the logic board - a couple hdmi pins are noticeably smashed in. Source of the "No input source: HDMI" error for me.
If none exist, do the multimedia or standard dock share the same connector?
I couldn't find any other dock dis-assembly's to compare internals.
sticker on the connector says:
"PAD00
DC30100E100REV:1.0
HONG-LIN 11/01/05"
I am currently unaware of any, I would try "googling" for some.
yea, I tried searching before I posted on the forum, but came up with nothing. Oh well, it was worth a shot - thanks anyways. I just ordered another micro hdmi cable to solder in my own replacement, 19 tiny pins isn't going to be fun though.
good luck with that. just wanted to add that you can buy a refurb from AT&t wireless for 75bucks. That's a whole dock worth of replacements parts.
not a bad deal, think I might jump on that and throw this up for parts then.
Thanks for the info.
need a same part
Well if someone somewhere finds this part please don't hesitate to post where did you get one. I will loose my mind trying solder cable directly to board or something similar...

[Q] MicroHDMI loose when plugged in?

When i plug in my MicroHDMI cable, it is very loose, so much so that if i don't hold the plug in one direction, it will disconnect and reconnect over and over and over again. I have to push it to make contact. very annoying and very sensitive.
anyone have this problem? maybe it's the cable? I really hate how they designed the plugs onthe curved side of this tablet, and that it had to be a micro hdmi instead of mini
Can someone please try their micro hdmi and tell me if this happens? Also which cable are you using?
Yes I noticed this too. I'm using a rocketfish cable from best buy. I've ordered some adapters from monoprice hopefully those work better

Yes -- thank you very much for asking. This is one of six reasons I sent my TP to RMA department. And it gets worse the more you use the micro HDMI. I used it about 4-5 times over 2 weeks.
I don't know what they can do about it though. But it's just another stupid design flaw. Add it to the list of complaints.
Anyone else noticed this problem? Just wondering if it is the receptacle or the cable. And what could be done with it.
I get my cheap micro HDMI cable in on Thursday and will report in
Mine was loose as well.
I think its prob a normal thing on the TFP because of how its so curved on the edges. Overall the TFP is great although as i keep "testing" this, i keep finding small things that i dont like. Im finding it disappointing considering how pumped i was unrapping it.
Got cheap cable from Amazon and it was loose so I sliced a little off the top edge and it fits and works great now.
I just kinda beveled it a little to match the contour

not a bad idea. i was considering making a similar kind of fitting.
TF201 | XDA Premium
funny, i thought of the same thing two. i had bought at 15' cable (cause what's the point if it's just 6') so i can use it from my couch. the first one was ultra loose. but i got another one that came tonight that is MUCH better, not perfect solid but completely live-with-able. maybe it's just the cable plug. but on either plug i noticed that the plastic end of the plug does not hit the tablet. it seems to bottom out on the connector first. so notsure how beveling my cables would have helped.
anyways... thanks for the comments... makes me want to say, WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST DO MINI-HDMI!
Think the problem with loose cable is the same you can feel with the charger connection and any other stuff you connect to prime
Prime have curved edges. If you look at the cable when it is connected you can see that there isn't any support for the cable on the backside. On the front it looks right but turn the prime over you can see were the problem is.
This can bee notice with the usb-adapter to, that sits really loose because it seems to bee to short. And there isn't any material that support the connection just because Primes curved edges.
Think this is a big failure from Asus. And that they not going to release adapters and cable that are designed for Prime. instead we have to use the same accessories from the first transformer TF101.
got my micro HDMI cable from Amazon today.
It fits all the way in, but does feel "loose", but I get full picture and sound comes out of both my speakers. It doesn't feel loose enough to fall out, and I had a blast playing Shadowgun and GTA 3 on my TV with my Xbox 360 wireless controller
One thing I noticed is that it still displays on both the tablet and the TV at the same time, is there a way to turn off the main display and only display on an external device?

Extra charger and cable?

Does anyone know where I can find an extra charger and cable for my prime?
TIA,
Kevin

They have the actual ASUS model.....got mine in 3 days from CA to VA....$39.99 + a free stylus.
bob
CompUSA has them. You can order the TF101 also. It works for TF101, 201 and the Slate.
Dont buy a knockoff, make sure it has that ASUS logo on the front. It's worth it, kind more sturdy. I went thru a few.
Here is a direct link to Office Depot's chargers:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/768723/ASUS-Power-Adapter-For-Eee-Pad/
I have bought 3 of these and I can tell you that they have all been official Asus charging outlets. The ones I got had folding outlet prongs but some people have reported getting fixed prongs just like the charger that comes with the Transformer Prime.
Also if you buy 2 of these chargers, you get free shipping

[Q] Smart Cover on TF300

Does the origami-like Smart Cover from Asus for the Transformer Prime works/fits on the Transformer 300? The dimensions of the two tablets are almost the same, so I think it will work... Can anyone confirm this?
interesting cover never seen it before. seem out of stock at amazon and others. do they still make it anymore?

I buyed one on Amazon Germany...
The smart cover fit on the screen an you can put it in the Dock connectors on the Tablet, but it doesnt hold solid on the right Dock connector, so its very easy to pull the cover out of the Connectors. On a Youtube Video with the Transformer prime the Guy hold the Smart Cover and the Tablet hangs on this. With the one i had, the tablet falls down.
In don't know if the Problem was on the Smart Cover or the connectors on the Tablet.
Anybody using this? I seen it at my local Office Depot, and it did fit the TF300T, but I wasn't quite sure about using it until I seen some reviews.
I purchased the cover only to return it. Only 1 hinge would stay connected as mentioned in other posts. I returned it and am now waiting for a new case I purchased on Amazon.
