[Q] Samsung Warranty - invalid! Can you help - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I have a Galaxy S2 is has develeped a fault where the IMEI data is no longer on the phone, thus causing the phone to not be able to load any sim card. This occured when my battery ran completely out of charge and when I recharged it, and turned it on my sim was not working.
I tried a few things, none worked. But typing *#06# brings up a box with IMEI as the title but no number in the box.
Also typing in *#1234#
The phone should display this
PDA: i9100XWKI4
PHONE: I9100XXKI1
CSC:I9100CPWKH1
Build info: Wed Sep 14 20:34:11 KST 2011
But mine displays this.
PDA: i9100XWKI4
PHONE: unknown
CSC:I9100CPWKH1
Build info: Wed Sep 14 20:34:11 KST 2011
My phone has never been rooted and no custom ROMs have been installed. It is fully stock.
I logged a repair request with Samsung and sent it off for repair, however their repair agent have refused to repair due to warranty being invalid due to apparent moisture in the external port of the USB port on the phone. They sent me a blurry image which proves nothing. (I cannot link as im need 8 posts in order to link the image).
The repair agent wants £54 for a new port and then they will reinstate my warranty and repair the data corruption for "FREE". Well I'm rather annoyed about this as the repair agent have confirmed that the fault has not occured due to moisture in the port. I am not willing to pay the repair and they have returned the phone to me. MY 24 month contact is up this summer so I dont want to pay £54 for the FREE repair.
From what I understand the phone has had it's EFS file corrupt, thus causing the ID of the phone to be "gone". Is there any way in which I can get this repaired myself? Either with software of some other means?

Fairly standard water damage warranty rejected for any phone .
Restore your backed up EFS folder should fix .

Imei SV

Hi all
My IMEI number has changed as flashed another s3 rom on and I am sending my phone to samsung for repair would my warranty be void or still valid.
IMEI chaned to 09 to 06 on the sticker of the phone, behind the batt says 09, also I have reset counter as well.and also my IMEI is still the same
IMEI changed if its the last 2 digits like 352xxxxxxxxxxx/o6 then it does not matter .
Warranty requires all steps as posted in the return to stock for warranty post to be completed .

[Q] clueless

This is the story. S3 bought in europe. stopped working immediatelly(i think. or maybe after some weeks) after. didnt get fixed service had some warranty issue.
When i say didnt work, i meant the telephone-side of the device it didnt recognise the sim. everything else works fine(even wifi)
I live in greece so i had the phone sent to me here in hopes to get it fixed. but before that i asked for it to be unlocked and my cousin supposedly(he s not really that tech savvy) unlocked it by the carrier.(even gave me the number to be sure everything's ok)
I originaly thought it might be a hardware issue cause the sim wasnt recognized(remember that problem happened on the original carrier its not a matter of lock) but the guy i had went to to fix it said the entire gsm part isnt working so its either a SOFTWARE (thats why i m asking help here) problem or the main board should be replaced.(think he tried to restore it even to original firmware)
After a lot of research here and on google i m kinda lost because so many things seem wrong at the same time.
1.when i type *#7465625# it goes to personalization but below that is blank. then after 2 seconds i get " Unfortunately. the processcom.android.phone has stopped." so i cant get info on whether its locked or not
2.when i type *#06# i get IMEI null / null "ok" ... so i cant see if it has the same as its written under the battery..
3.when i try to press the notification "software update" i get registering device... " attention! Processing failed "ok" "... so i cant even update to a (maybe) working patch
4. The sim it uses is micro sim and i dont have one available at the moment. so i only check the progress by dialling 911.(isnt it valid to assume even without a sim it would still dial?"out of service area")
5.

IF this is a software problem i need your help to know where to get started... you have great guides like for the IMEI or the Baseband unknown message but i dont know where to start cause all these happen at the same time and i dont know which are related to the sim not recognised problem or something someone before me did..(forgot to mention the phone is NOT rooted or flashed to whatever. But i m going to do that when i know more about what i need)
ANY help or information on what is it that i m dealing with would be GREATLY appreciated.

But i have the Imei under the battery and i also have the unlock codes from the original carrier.. is there nothing to be done?
Get a microsim and test.
If fails, you can root and flash Samsung firmware again.
Can use s3 toolkit for above.
Come back after these.
Good luck

No. the IMEI is contained within the EFS Folder which is either missing or corrupt. Only a service centre can repair this. The IMEI number must be programmed into the device in order to connect to the network. This is why you cannot.

[Q] Help with S3 IMEI 0049 after SDS fix and NV method is not working

Hi guys I’m having problems with fixing my phone, here comes the descriptions of the problem:
I had SDSyndrom on my S3 on April, I live in Brazil and I’ve bought my phone in Paraguay, however, this phone was made in UK….
So I’ve took my phone to Samsung Brazil and they told me they couldn’t fix it because it wasn’t a Brazilian phone. After that I found a charlatan that told me he could fix the phone. After 1 month trolling me, I’ve decided to pick my phone back and send it to ANOVO in UK by mail to fix it.
I’ve got it back recently and the phone is turning back on again, however, I first experience one minor problem, the Factory mode (like this one: http://i.imgur.com/kdbwtX8.jpg) and after a long time in the phone with UK they told me they hadn’t modify anything except flush new hardware.
After long internet research I was able to fix the Factory mode by a terminal code.
However, I’ve put my SIM card in the phone, I’ve got antenna signal but it wouldn’t call or receive calls… after a long time researching again, I’ve figured out that my IMEI was changed to 0049… (probably was that f*king asshole here in Brazil that told me he could fix it and he couldn’t!).
What I’ve done so far:
Flashing new firmware with Odin won’t work,
I’ve tried to access *#7284# but the Qualcomm USB settings is missing with the all android versions I've tried (4.0.4v; 4.1.1v; 4.1.2v; and 4.2.2 leaked v) so I’ve typed su -c 'am start -n com.sec.android.app.phoneutil/com.sec.android.app.phoneutil.USBSettings' in the terminal to access it
When I’ve select 'RNDIS + DM + MODEM' my pc tells me it couldn’t recognize the device and ‘RMNET + DM + MODEM’ won’t find any port in NV-ITEMS Reader/Writer (http://prntscr.com/1gw4ts) . The only option that the Reader/Writer will find a port is with the ‘MTP+ADB’… witch will not work.
I can’t find the *ss h*le that did this to my phone and other places won’t change IMEI because they say it is illegal to change IMEI, But I’ve just want to put my IMEI back to normal no change it… Is there a method to put back the IMEI that it is written on the back of my phone, without using a Z3X Samsung box? (can’t seem to find them here… and in Brazil this definitely would be way expensive… probably it would be cheaper to buy a new S3)… ANOVO in UK told me I could send it back by mail again, at my costs… but that would cost me again about 150 US dollars…
Sorry for extending myself, but I've couldn't be more direct...
I ain't a advance user for this matters, but I'm trying to do my best...
Thankz
Rodrigo
You cannot flush or flash new hardware its impossible .
Is the phone a I9300???
Looks as next step is a service centre if you have no backed up EFS folder.

Sorry my bad English is not flash it was swapped (I think the mother board)
It is a I9300 phone
And I do not have any backup because I’ve just got it back and it was like this…
I’m trying to contact that guy that dealt with my phone in the beginning but he won’t answer his phone… the place he work is closed and there is a new store in there…
I’m pretty sure that if I take my phone to a Samsung repair center here in Brazil they will tell me what they told me before with the SDS: “the phone is foreign and we cannot do anything to assist you…”

(sorry I'm using Microsoft word to correct my english and I mistakenly copy all)
there is nothing you can do. you need a motherboard with an imei, which this one apparently isn't. you've been scammed
I cannot be scammed because ANOVO is one of the two authorized service centers in UK...
I don't know what they changed because they don't tell, but every post you look about SDS they say that the motherboard are exchanged in this process
motherboard is changed, yes, but the efs is there. your motherboard doesn't have an efs and there's nothing you can do about it but take it back. it's not going to be a problem if those guys are as good as you make them out to be, right?
Thats not the problem... not sure if u readed the whole post. The problem is that I live in Brazil, I've got to send it all to way to UK because it is as UK phone and Brazilian Samsung won't fix forign phones.
Besides costing almos 150 US dolares to send it to UK and getting it back, it took almos 2 months to all this process!

Fact is you have the generic IMEI and no backup of EFS .
You may not have been scammed but something is not right with your phone .
Anova flashed new firmware and fixed phone . Flashing firmware can delete the EFS folder and render the generic one .Easy to fix with a backed up EFS folder .
Your report does not say they fitted a new motherboard .
Whatever you now need a new motherboard .
There are a number of Samsung repair centers in the UK the one you used is not one i would take my phone to .

would I be able do edit it later?

that won't work. but if you know anyone who has a z3x box or a smart sam box you can write your old imei to the new pcm. i had the same problem after changing the board. but take care write down the serial nimber of your board bevore writing the imei number, maybe you will need it if somthing goes wrong.
Same problem

Rodrigo, I'm also brazilian and I'm facing exactly the same problem that you were facing some months ago. I'd like to know if you already have a solution for this problem or not?

[Q] Not Registered on Network - i9300

Alright, so first of all, my Samsung Galaxy SIII got some damage, and then we brought it to a repair shop. They changed the motherboard, and then returned it to us and it was working fine. The only thing is, the Android version is still on 4.0.4, and whenever I boot the phone, a T-Mobile bootloading screen appears, and it annoys the hell out of me. So, I flashed Android 4.3 Jellybean using Odin. Yet, after the update finishes, the phone won't make a text or a call. It always says 'Not Registered On Network'. So here are some notes of the phone's status...
1. I tried to use Ariza Patch, yet it didn't work.
2. The IMEI's number is not changed to 0000 or anything, it's just a 15-digit number and has a '/01' at the end of it.
3. The signal is full.
How could this be fixed? Is there anyway to fix this? It would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
Take it back to the repair shop and tell them they botched the efs folder after their repair. You might be able to get a network by reading the sticky thread on efs, or the patch thread but you will always have problems with updates unless you get the efs folder sorted by a professional.
I did return the phone, then after that, they replaced the board again. After I tried to update it to 4.3 once again, the same thing happened, still not registered on network. :/

No Signal on Samsung Galaxy S10 5G G977N Korean version (Exynos)

Hi, i have bought G977N and later came to know that its IMEI is tampered to get registered on the local networks. it was working before i upgraded it to G977NKOU4CTG1, the original firmware was G977NKSU2BSL7. After upgrading it did not register any of the networks. Got it checked from software expert he told me the network patching done with tempered imei was damaged and now there is no way to do it again on new version G977NKOU4CTG1. I tried to flash G977NKSU2BSL and also the factory firmware of android pie but ODIN get stuck at BOOT.img and download screen shows non-supported version. Can any one help to restore my original IMEI and will it work.
The IMEI ( read: International Mobile Equipment Identity ) is a unique numerical identifier ( 14-17 digits ) for every mobile device what helps to differentiate each device from one another. If you take your phone in for repair, they will track it using the IMEI to distinguish it from the other millions of phones, for example.
IMEI basically has nothing to do with phone's local network settings at all. But it may be used to unlock a phone on certain networks.
The IMEI is stored on phone's /EFS partition and/or /EFS folder. If you didn't backup that before flashing you have lost, IMO, unless you still have the box in which the phone was delivered, because there is usually the IMEI printed, too.
I don't have the box of the phone. The seller has tempered the imei to get it registered on the local network. I didn't backup before flashing. Now what to do. How to downgrade to previous firmware. I tried to flash the previous firmware but it stuck in boot.img.
They told me solution is available for U3 binary but no solution is available for U4 binary.
Awaiting for help on this issue.
You should have returned the device. Since the imei has been tampered with you will not get much help here. Imei changing and tampering is illegal in most countries. And it's not discussed on xda

I'm guessing you also bought a tampered IMEI device. Take it to any local market where there are plenty of phone 'software repair' guys. Ask them if they have Chimera or z3x tool. They'll fix your problem for ~800 PKR.
Remember, if you buy such devices, don't flash anything on them. Every time you do, you'll need to go back to the same software guy and pay him to fix your signal issue.
=========================
For other people reading this comment - Yes I understand IMEI tampering is illegal in most countries. The reason people in Pakistan buy these phones is because the government has levied unreasonable duties on all imported devices, without any consideration for the age/condition. For example, a used/refurbished S10 that costs you 250 USD in the US, will have custom charges of about 250 USD applied to it if you want it to work in Pakistan. So basically you pay double.
I have this same issue somtimes the signal comes and somtimes it doesnt.
