What froyo apps did you install?

Which apps did you all install when the OTA hit?
My first install was network traffic stats, to learn just what was using all my gigs (turns out it was system processes)
Next was some apps to SD app.
Anyone found some really nifty froyo apps, you'd like to tell about?

Haven't got it yet, but I plan on getting Voice Actions if it hasn't been bundled in yet. Haven't thought about anything else yet though.
Chrome to Phone is my favourite Froyo app, and my first install post OTA update. Really useful just to throw links to my device before going out; I also set it to load the pages automatically while I'm on my home network, so they're ready by the time I'm out of the door.
Other than than I've just moved a ton of my apps to the SD, nice to have the memory cleaned up a little!

[Q] Go Launcher App Drawer

So I've noticed that even after using the "close all programs" option in the "running" portion of the app drawer, apps start popping up there even if i haven't used them. The nook contacts for instance, i never use, yet it still shows up in "running." It seems to be using storage space, and i certainly don't want those extra apps draining the battery. Has anyone else encountered this?
ETA: So i was mistaking memory for storage, my bad, but i still don' t want apps running on the RAM when i don't want them to. The ones that seem to always pop up are nook contacts, nook shop, pandora, amazon app store, and pulse. Why are these apps initializing? Is it an update/being connected to the internet thing?
I take it this is your first Android device. Check the link to see how memory is managed in Android.

Yep, first android device, thank you so much, couldnt find anything by searching the forum.
I'm still not 100% sure why apps i'm not using would show up like that, the impression i got from that article was that android has unusual priorities in killing apps in use, why are apps i never use showing up?
Some apps are programmed to stay partially resident in memory because they are used by other apps. Contacts would be used by Email, etc.
Just because it says they're running, though, does not mean that they will affect how your tablet runs at all.
In a nutshell, taskkillers are ineffective and unnecessary in Android. A lot of us come from a Windows-mindset that says "kill tasks to free up memory!" but this does nothing for Android. (The exceptions seem to be rogue processes).
All I know is I was driving myself nuts when I first got my Android phone using task killers, and worrying about apps I'd 'killed' popping right back up again. I was actually slowing down the system, not speeding it up. When I finally read about it, and then got rid of the task killer stuff, my performance actually improved. My limited understanding of this, is that a killed app will actually expend more memory opening itself back up again to run idle, than if you just leave it running idle.
Thank you zaptoons, that makes sense. I hadnt really noticed much ofa difference with the apps killed or not, so very helpful info. Still getting used to my tab, think rooting may be in my future.

Weird app installing itself?

I noticed that for a few weeks now I'm getting spam type notifications in my notification bar saying things like I've won a free ipad. Was just clearing them out, but now I notice that a shortcut to a "market" has showed up on my homescreen. Can't find anything I didn't install in titanium or my stock application manager. Anyone know what this is and how it gets through my security app. I'm using bit defender. I notice my phones a bit glitchy as well. Widgets aren't wanting to load up. I'd like to figure it out before I do a data wipe.
Usually happens after installing a cracked app. Although I have seen this after installing MP3 Music down loaders as well.
Search for "Airpush detector" in the market then uninstall whatever apps are detected then they shouldn't show up again
Check this out.

Thanks for the info. Got em. It was a couple of winter scene live wallpapers.

List of Apps with Notification Ads

Hey guys, I recently downloaded or updated an app that has started pushing ads to my notification bar. This is abso-****ing-lutely unacceptable. I was wondering if anyone knows of any apps that are confirmed guilty of this? I can't figure out which app is guilty, and i uninstalled over 100MB of apps trying to find the culprit, but there it was again in my notification bar after work today. Also, is there a way to figure out which app is doing it? I have a very very nasty email waiting for the dev who thought this was a good idea once I figure out who it was.
Any confirmed apps I'll list below and try to keep up to date from here out if there's community interest.
Confirmed apps with push:
Extdate Widget v 3.0.0
Damn you Swype!
I remember reading on the front page that a Japanese *carrier* was starting to do that. Screw money-hungry devs, when my CARRIER starts to do that, I'm going to a different carrier, and when they all start to do it then the ROM-flashing community will be growing by leaps and bounds, I'll wager.
Ads were made to be blocked.

*please don't start **** with my about developers need my money from ads. I do what I want with my phone.
Here is another Push detector. I use this sometimes whe I get one.

FYI, here's a article about Airpush claiming (bragging) that over 10,000 apps on the market use their service:

And this back in November.
I ran into that with the Skyrim Soundboard. If you have that uninstall it and they stop.

I installed "Bloat Freezer" free and started getting push adds. Uninstalled and they were gone. coincidence??
Did you finally figure out which app is doing it. I really wanna know that app so that I dont get it.
The add on detector apps work, so I figure this thread is obsolete. But I did list the app that was causing my issues in the OP

[Q] Spoken ads within Android?

I''ve asked this question in the Nexus 5 subforum too, but I am actually not sure it has anything to do with the device, more with apps.
Twice in the last days, I have gotten a spoken add on my Nexus 5, running stock 4.4.2.
Message is something like:
"YOU HAVE WON A FREE APP, SHAKE YOUR PHONE NOW TO GET YOUR FREE APP"
Even putting it down or a slight hand tremble will throw me towards the market where I see an app. Nothing shocking, but I have no clue what app is doing this. The first time I think I was working in the Gmail app, second time I was in Kik. Does anyone know how I can track which app is doing this?
