I noticed that some of the Samsung widgets fit the width of the screen, but a lot of them are not long enough to go all the way across the screen. Is there anyway to make them wider?
yeh, by using a different launcher
u can adjust widgets with go launcher.
That's the 2 reasons why I don't use the stock launcher : can't resize the widgets and they are not scrollable.

In almost all custom launchers, dock icons are smaller than normal icons, which makes them harder to press, especially on smaller screens.
Other than ADW EX, I don't know any other launcher that allows us to change the dock icon size or hide the dock all together and put normal icons in that space. For this reason, ADW is the only launcher that I can use. I can't use LauncherPro, Go Launcher EX, Zeam, etc. etc.
This is a horrible idea that doesn't make sense at all to me. I mean, what is the reason behind the dock icons being smaller? What purpose does it serve? Is there any logical explaination that I'm missing?
Anyway, if you know of any other launcher that allows normal size dock icons (other than Touchwiz, please) please post here.
yes you're right
dock apps must be larger than the other because they're used almost more than desktop apps
unfortunintly I don't know any other launcher with big icons
LCD Density causes too many problems with the Market and downloading apps, so I'm trying to find an alternate way to get a more minimalistic setup.
Go Launcher looks great at first. It has an option where i can directly set how large I want my screen icons to be all the way down to 48px. Perfect. The problem is it doesn't have any options to customize the dock outside of downloading themes. I hate the way the dock looks, I can't even make it smaller, and I don't need themes.
ADW has the opposite problem. I can fully customize the dock the way I want to but there aren't any options to make home screen icons smaller unless you pay for the full version.
All I really want are smaller home screen icons like how Go Launcher offers, but I can't find any app that does only that, or found any launcher that combines ADW's dock customization with Go Launcher's icon customization.
Any ideas?
The only "solution" I've found is to take a screenshot of my phone, open it in IrfanView on my PC, crop and resize the dock icons, then save them to a folder in the phone and use them to replace the dock icons. I used ADW and miss that function in Go Launcher EX.

Doesn't sound like a very convenient solution...
Is Go Launcher open source? If no one's been able to make an app, I could just see how Go Launcher does it and make a solution myself.
Is there a way to scroll vertically thru home screens? I currently use apex launcher pro and don't mind changing launchers. I use simple text for my icons and want to scroll down with icons on the left side of screen.
Thanks

I really like the look and feel of some of the Google Now inspired themes and launchers, like SF Launcher. Particularly I like how different elements of the homescreen scroll independently. ie there is a top bar that is static and the widgets and apps scroll separately.
Is there a way to replicate this functionality on Nova/Apex Launcher or any of the other standard launchers? Specifically is there a way to have a widget that stays on screen when scrolling through pages of apps?
I know Nova can rotate the homescreen but it stretches the widgets out and cuts them off, etc.. so it looks horrible.
Are there any other better solutions for a landscape homescreen?
thanks
Google Now Launcher + Xposed + Xposed GEL Settings modules will do landscape very gracefully.
Smart Launcher is what i use when I want landscape. Kind of a unique launcher, on the home screen, plus it breaks the app drawer into categories.

Thanks YrrchSebor,
Yea i was considering Smart Launcher but I am still on the fence whether I like the layout.. I am not sure I want to be limited on the amount of direct access icons i can place on the homescreen.
UPDATE: I am actually now using Smart Launcher for just a landscape homescreen when i want it. and the stock launcher for everything else.. its working out perfectly this way. i just placed a shortcut for smart launcher on my Stock homescreen, so i can switch back and forth between launcher homescreens with a single tap. I am using the Smart Launcher kind of like a Car Mode almost.. as I use my phone in landscape in the car holder... this setup is working out very nice so far..
