As the tiltle says How many of you disappoint with your SGS3 after purchased
What features you want to add in your s3
No disappointment here, pleasantly suprised actually.
It's my dream phone so far.

As OP, why dont you "break the ice"?
I got one disappointment - why Samsung didn't launch this awesome phone earlier.

because it seems MR op doesn't have the phone yet He is looking out for potential sellers (who are dissappointed with their phone - at least thats what is happening in the Indian thread for SGS3)
only disappointment was the price...khe khe.

Coming from galany note I'm disappointed that the s3 didn't come with the social and readers hub.
Social hub being the more important app.
I was originally a HTC user and loved the friendstream widget..so I welcomed the social hub app on my note as they similar.
Seems the s3 gave replaced it with flipboard WTF

I do wish people didn't start these kind of threads, either research the phone properly before buying or if you think the problem can be resolved then log it in the QA section.
Not any regrations yet ..coming from sg
s2 missing some apps like Solaris office but it's okkk

Coming from a Desire/One X, I missed the Friendstream widget. Flipboard is not as good. However, I saw the Android Pro Widget recommended which I download from the Play Store. It is excellent - much more like Friendstream, the only downside being that you need to run separate widgets for Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Price was fair, I mean thats what you expect for flagship range...Some NZ retailers ran a limited time price of approximately $650USD...ordered my 32GB for approximately $700USD

Smart...Cunning...haha. I dont expect many to let go and sell so quickly...and for those who do...it wont be too little anyways with a relatively shortage on the market? hows the stock availability in India? not much in NZ...waiting 3 days and counting for mine...

stock is close to nil here. 7 days and counting for me (waiting for blue). even the white one is hard to find
Not much that can't be fixed with custom roms/mods/etc, and most of them will probably be fixed with official samsung updates too, but anyways:
- Smoother scrolling in messages (fixed by using Go SMS)
- Customizable settings widget in the dropdown menu
- Better optimized "deep sleep" to reduce the unlock lag
- Better optimized Wifi (many reports of "sudden stop" while still connected)
Other then that, I couldn't be happier with it. Such an amazing phone.
Nothing to complain about if you ask me, came from an crappy iphone
so this is like being in heaven
Well i'll bring the niceness down a little
I'm disopointed with gestures, swipe to take snapshot, hold palm to pause.
they are hit and miss for me, in fact i've not been able to pause it yet, and yes the funtion is turned on.
After a while the phone isn't super smooth, i mean dont get me wrong its silky smooth, but sometimes to maybe the untrained eye the phone takes that plit second to actually move (swiping pages on homescreen)
Gaming, is the smoothest i've played on a phone however stutters are visible on nova 3 (literally only for a split second) but i didn't expect this! (and yeah its not a S3 edition as its not out yet, so here hoping they optimize it better!
And the wake up lag was annoying, luckily got rid of that by turning s voice off!
But i believe as ICS is newish and the phone is brand new, these annoying things will be fixed in future updates.
I'm pleased with the phone but it doesn't have a gamepad like my xperia play does, lol
Superb, but the audio. Expecting Voodoo shall fix that hopefully. Sounds like my SG1 pre voodoo. Any sound playing that is quiet, you can hear static. Sounds like bad audio filtering etc.

I love my phone, but my only disappointment (as of now) is that there is hardly any development (ROM, Kernel) for this phone yet, compared to Galaxy S2, new ROM's and Kernel was coming out a lot faster at launch. Hopefully it start's to increase after the blue peddle version of S3 starts delivering.
Very disappoint !
The phone is too fast ! Now I do not need my PC ! Outrage !
i love the phone itself but sort of regret getting it. I guess its my own fault for not looking up more into htc phones but coming from a GN where all you need is unlock and root when i saw we had that i got it, didnt realize with htc you need soff too. Then i foudn out no htc phones with no sdcard have soff yet. Im not a fan of sense and prefer the stock android experience or aokp only. anyone else feel like this? i love the phone, but dont like the soff situation with htc, and cant think of a better phone to switch to either cus i dont want the s3. and unfortunately nexus 4 isnt for verizon
I can relate to what you are saying.
For me, I set my expectation of this phone to be a great consumer phone, not a developer phone. So I decided not to root it or installing custom rom on it. Just use Android as a daily phone this time.
I have spent way too much time and energy on GNex switching between rom , which is something I really regret after a while. Not just full wipe everytime, but there is simply no single best rom can meet all asks. many of them are great initially, then slowly become slow and buggy, which I really can't figure out why, including CM10.
So that's why I look beyond such issues for HTC DNA, but evaluate it from a consumer point of view, "apple-type" user, if you will.
And I keep my galaxy nexus to play with, "in my lab".
If your expectation was to make this to be a full developer unit... it may not be the right phone, and verizon is not the right carrier in this case.
Many says playing around with all roms are "fun", but after long time of "playing around the roms" with more than 5 state-of-the-art smart phones in past 2 years, I will control myself on such "fun".
just some thoughts.
I feel the same
I feel the exact same way. No doubt about it though, the phone is great and the screen is amazing! I am just not a fan on Sense. I love me some AOSP. The phone also feels a little too big for my likes.
I am contemplating returning the DNA and getting the Developer Edition of the Razr HD. But if I did that, I might end up in the same boat as I do NOT have the skills needed to complile AOSP from source and get it running on the Razr HD.

I agree. I knre it wuldnt be much of a developer device. My main hope was jus for it to get aokp fully working. But not as much dev as the nexus with all their highly featured kernels, tbh i wish my nexus didnt break cus id still be on it. Im not a fan of "consumer" devices just because i like full access to my electronics. But its my own fwult for not researchin roms with htc lol. I dnt switch off verizon til december

No kidding. But also - just because we don't currently have S-Off, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no reason we won't have custom ROMs to play with. We can still write to the System partition in Recovery, which means you can flash a custom ROM in recovery.

On the ROM flashing front - I'm trying to think of a scenario where you would make changes to /system while outside of recovery. Every time I flashed a ROM on my GNex I would reboot into CWM anyway - I'm assuming the only things that actually made changes to /system while not in recovery would be things like kernel controls?
It kills me that people buy an HTC phone and complain about Sense. It isn't like they "snuck" Sense on this phone behind your back.

This was the choice for most people that were tired of their GNex's, since Verizon won't work with the N4. Most of those people are used to stock AOSP, so its understandable. I came from the Inc, to Inc2, to GNex, and it was still a bit of a shock for me to go back to Sense.
I think most people also assumed that the development on this phone would be similar to what it was like on the GNex, which is not the case. Hopefully we get some stock android stuff going pretty soon so we can all rest easy

No kidding! Although I have to say that while I always liked Sense (way back from the Windows Mobile days), I stopped using it once phone screen sizes got bigger because Sense just made everything too big... and with some DPI tweaks I have actually found Sense to be quite usable on the DNA... I'm still trying to settle on my favorite launcher for this phone, but at least this time around Sense is in the running.
If I could get a zip that modifies it to a 5/4 or 5/5 layout it probably wouldn't even be a competition. For the record, other contenders are Chameleon Launcher, Apex, and SPB Shell 3D (in either Smartphone or Tablet mode)... Still can't make a decision. :silly:

i love this too. I got this phone because of sense and the screen! you all know it has sense I just love to hear people complain and it somehow puts up better numbers than the nexus 4 with aosp right out of the box. This phone hasnt even got roms yet just got unlocked! wait until s-off and then people will have their flavor of aosp or sense! And also remember how long it took for galaxy s3 to get unlocked? it could take awhile so we will see how many true HTC followers there is here or just people jumping ship for the next great quad core 1080p phone. should be interesting. The positives outweigh the negatives for me! Whenever i use phone i dont regret it for a second! Sense is one of the most extensive and nicest setups in android by far to me!

Well, I like a lot of screen real estate, and sharp, small-ish text (I bought a 13" Macbook Pro just for that 2560x1600 resolution - and I'm using Windows 7 on it), but I have my DPI set to 370. Android Pro Widgets replace any of the Sense widgets where possible (SMS, Agenda) because they can render a smaller font, but I still use the native 4x1 Clock/Weather widget, and of course the Mail widget - and I have all my quick launch items set to use folders - System, Social, Travel, and Multimedia.
s-off is coming
s-off is coming dsb said that is was close. I was a strong "htc" until the galaxy s3 came out back in July. After being frustrated with Samsungs weak radios i came back home to HTC. I was on the fence between this and the note 2 but after playing with the phone on launch day I bought it. And now the note 2 comes out in 2 days and i could care less.

I was thinking about getting the UP by Jawbone but have heard that it is buggy with the HTC One. I was wondering if anyone has one and if it works with the EVO LTE and which ROM they are using. I don't want to spend $130 on just a bracelet if it doesn't work. Also what other accessories like the UP there are out there that are compatible with Android. Apparently the Nike Fuelband will never be compatible
The Jawbone webpage states certain devices it is compatible and one of those is the HTC One and it makes me nervous
https://jawbone.com/up/devices <-- doesn't mention the EVO LTE though.
any help would be appreciated!

Hi There! I have been using the up for two weeks now on the Evo LTE. I was running stock with goodies, and I am now on Viper rom. For the up to work with stock with goodies u have to uncheck beats audio when it is plugged in. As far as with viper, there is nothing to uncheck. Anything else let me know!
I've been wanting to get something like this for a while. How accurate would you say the UP is? I'm kinda holding out waiting for the Amiigo but am still interested in seeing how others are. It's pretty annoying that ones like the Fuelband are completely avoiding android and the new Fitbit Flex that only work with the Galaxy S3 and Note 2.

Have you used it with CM10.1 by chance? I only get LTE with CM10.1, any Sense ROM doesn't connect to LTE. long story.

you can use the app to track what you've done since your last sync. only the phones listed as compatible can sync on the fly, this because of specific Bluetooth hardware, which is why there aren't more phones supported. so basically the android app will work on your phone you just cant sync via Bluetooth, so basically you cant get instant gratification.
im in the market for a fitness tracking device as well and after reading a lot on the subject i will buy the fit bit one. it costs the same as the flex but has more sensors (one tracks stairs while flex doesn't) it has a screen that will tell me what my progress is (so i don't need it to sync on the fly to my phone) and many reviewers have stated that the one is more accurate than the flex.

I ended up flashing "Stock with Goodies" and I bought the Jawbone UP. It works like a charm on any Sense ROM I have tried. But I screwed up my 3G in the EPST and now have no service with a Sense ROM so I am back on CyanogeMod. The apps works fine except it won't sync, I am going to try to figure it out and will let you guys know if I find a way for the Jawbone to work on Stock Android 4.2.
The Fitbit looks nice and all but I just think its not for me.
FYI the "silent alarm" on the UP is insane!!! You pick a time for your alarm to go off and + or - 20 minutes from that time the UP will vibrate to wake you up when you are not in deep REM sleep. it has worked amazing so far!
I grabbed a Fitbit Flex last night(the last one within about 10 zip codes lol). Almost got the Up, but the Flex with the lower profile strap under the wrist seemed like it would be much more comfortable to wear at work behind a desk. Plus it's cool to have color options. The bluetooth sync through pc works flawlessly. I'm always near a computer so I'm going to get another bluetooth dongle for my work pc. Was actually able to get the Flex, a second color strap, and an extra dongle for the same price as the Up. The sleep function is awesome. I've been worried about not getting good sleep(frequently waking) and it seems to do the job great. Still really interest in the Amiigo...but I spoke to them and they are launching it with BLE syncing ONLY at launch then possibly doing a USB dongle like the Fitbit later.
So I got the UP and I love it.
A lot of people that I have asked about it said the worst part is the food section and that there isn't a lot of options but I love the food section because you can scan barcodes and it will load the food, you can take pictures of food and everything gets saved in your recent food section.
The battery on the UP states that it lasts 10 days on a single charge. Which isn't true for me at all. I use about 15% per day so about 7 days give or take. Still great.
I sit at a desk all day (Tech Support) and it doesn't bother me while I type at all. It's waterproof, I wear it in the shower.
The only bad part is that you have to turn it into "day" or "night" mode by holding the button down and I forget sometimes. Other than that though I LOVE the UP!!!!
Well, guys and girls I want to hear from you why to get (or not) HTC One M8 over SGS5 as owners of that first phone. I have two weeks to decide, but at that point I'm not sure which one to pick.
Currently I have SGS3, stock rooted, unlocked + Xposed tweaks, running TSF Launcher.
What I'm looking for? Ability to root, unlock and customize little bit stock ROM using Xposed. Launcher, probably, I will replace with TSF anyway.
Thanks for any feedback
Well I'll tell you.. Having come from two galaxy phones this phone is a welcome treat. Fast and flawless. Without question the best smart phone I have ever owned.. You can't trip up the phone. After about a week of getting used to it you will never look back.
Good luck

Had the sGS3 and sGS4 in the past. Got the m8 and nothing compares to it. Just an awesome phone. Only thing I miss from my Galaxy is the Omoled screen. Black colors were black. More vibrant the colors too. But this screen is great too. The built quality is amazing. And I pretty much had enough with the Galaxys home button. Tap to wake in the HTC One m8 works great. Only wish the power button was on the right side below the volume rocker. Would be easier to press to lock the phone. But hey, at least they moved from the top left side to the top right. Easier to rich then before (if you are a righty of course). GO WITH THE HTC ONE m8. No regrets.

What I'm looking for? Ability to root, unlock and customize little bit stock ROM using Xposed. Launcher, probably, I will replace with TSF anyway.

From what I hear, the AT&T GS5 has root now, so the rest will follow (if not possible already). So this shouldn't be much of a factor in your decision.
Posting in the M8 forum, you likely won't get a very objective result.
Also, there is a related thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780334
Of course, the mention of lack of root for the GS5 is not longer relevant. But you will see various opinions comparing the 2 phones, reasons (aside from root) why we picked the M8, etc.
Personally, the M8 just looks and feels much better designed and built. The GS5 isn't "bad". If HTC didn't exist, I'd probably think the GS5 was pretty nice. But of course, that isn't the case, and HTC simply has higher end physical design. I also love the front facing speakers and the audio quality you get from them. Maybe not relevant for everyone. But its one of the reasons I picked the M8, and quite happy I made that decision.
Few more questions related to M8:
- What about not removable battery - is an issue there? I have often removed battery in my SGS3 do too boot issues after flashing or just freezes.
- Does Xposed framework works properly on M8? For an example GravityBox has big incompatibility with SGS3 stock ROM.
Thanks

What I have heard that is not "real" root. Some files are still in read mode only.

Can't comment on that, as I haven't been following closely. If that is the case, then it may still be a consideration in your purchase choice.

1) No, lack of removable battery (for sake of doing a "battery pull") is not an issue. Every device without a user accessible battery has some button combo hardwired to reboot the phone, same as a battery pull. On the M8, you hold power and vol up buttons until the phone restarts.
2) Can't say about GravityBox in particular. But I've used other Xposed modules, and everything works fine AFAIK.
I am telling you why you should buy the Galaxy S5.
First of all, it isn't true that the HTC One M8 has a much better build quality. It is very slippery and you will find yourself dropping it a lot if you don't put a case on. But if you buy a case, what's the point of having a aluminum phone?
I have the gold variant of the Galaxy S5 and I think it is the best color for this phone. It doesn't look like a band aid or whatever they call it. Actuall, it is actually like a light gold color and when you put the phone in direct sunlight it looks more like Silver, which looks beautiful.
Also, the battery is noticeably better on the Galaxy S5, especially with Ultra Power Saving Mode where the display turns black and white. Also, you can replace the batteries if you want.
Also, water resitant capabilities. I'm coming from a Galaxy S3 and I never thought water resistant capabilities would be useful but now that I am on vacation, it is very useful. I've taken the phone inside the pool many times and also those water splashes from people jumping into the pool won't be a problem for your phone.
Root? My phone is already rooted and I have already all the apps I need. I don't plan on switching to a custom ROM because the performance is just amazing. There is no lag whatsoever and this comes from someone who hated the Galaxy S3 awful performance.
The camera, there is no comparison. 16 MP vs dual 4 MP? Pixels are not everything, but the detail you will get with the Galaxy S5 camera is unparalleled.

So how it looks that in a M8 case? Does root and SIM unlock is not complicated/time consuming? Long time ago my wife had HTC Aria and to root it and SIM unlock was a pain

I have heard that root is a partial root. Two persons confirmed. They are lurkers here in XDA forums, but know the stuff. Also have heard it works only on kernel builds before June. No clue if new phones have another kernel build.

Fair points. However, M8 camera wins in low light (as its intended). Low light being just about anything but outdoors in daytime. Depends on how you personally use your camera. But many (probably most) my pics are indoors.

I personally thought it was easy. Many coming from Samsung devices will complain its "more complicated".
With any new device and new manufacturer, things will be different and there will be a learning curve.
I'm guessing it might take you an hour or 2 to unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery, s-off and SIM unlock. I am the father of a 3 year old child, not much free time, and still got it all done 1 day after I bought the phone.
In order to keep the thread count down, especially on something that is not specifically about the M8 (this thread is just as much about the S5, which you have an identical thread in that forum), I am closing this.
You can continue the discussion here though:

And get lots more opinions on the matter.
Good luck with your purchase! :good:
This "NoFrills CPU" app is fantastic for the 4.1.2 build on our phone. There's a setting in the app to prevent any other app from changing the clocks. After turning that on, I finally have true 1200mhz 24/7. I've been complaining about my phone up and down to my wife and after getting rid of setCPU and finding NoFrills, I feel really like there's no need for a new one. I'll rock this bad boy another couple of years!

I've been using my Moto X for about a month now and after reading your post, I decided to restore my Droid RAZR MAXX back to 4.1.2 and start using it again :good:
I was one of the early adopters of RAZR XT910 and used it for about 2 years and sold it. No matter how many better phones i bought, Razr always had its special place here. I got a Droid Razr Maxx with dead mainboard in great cosmetic condition and i got a XT910 with cracked screen and working mainboard two months ago, made myself a Franken Droid RAZR MAXX XT910 in mint condition. I sometimes get it out of the drawer to listen to music. It is a great device of its time and beyond.
ps : it would be nice to watch a video review of XT910/912 in 2016

I can say the fastest and most stable is the official 4.1.2 and custom roms based on stock 4.1.2 like ArtMod 4.3 for xt910. I just added
Arrow launcher as home
Blackplayer as music app
Piktures as the gallery app
The thing have still plenty of life left in it. Using an S7 edge daily but you can't beat the classics like xt910. lol.
