[Q] Polaris Office fix for ICS ROM - HTC Rezound

I have searched and searched the forums for hours before posting this question so I apologize if I have missed the solution.
I am using NilP's Business Sense ICS Rom v2.2 and everything works fine but Polaris Office. Every time I try to open an attachment I get an error saying, "Unfortunately, Polaris Office has stopped".
What I have done so far:
I have removed the PolarisOffice.apk that came with the rom and have installed again several times. I install by using adb push to /system/app. I've read in other posts that Polaris needs 2 lib files to be pushed to /system/lib and I have done this to no avail. I also downloaded and pushed a Polaris .apk that Scott posted in his thread for his CleanRom. That did not work either.
Is anyone else having this issue with the new ICS roms and Polaris? Also, can anyone point me in the right direction to getting it fixed?

Have u tried fixing permisions?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app

Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't tried that. Do you know what the permissions should be? And for which, the apk or the lib files?

Yeah, the newest leaked seems to have broken polaris office. I liked looking at my work schedule on it best because you could zoom out enough to see the whole thing and it was still clear.
It was working on previous ICS leak based ROMs, but now is not.
Not sure how to fix it, but post here if you get it working.

Yeah I like it better than the other doc viewers/editors I've used so far.
If I find a fix, I'll def post the solution.

New leak is out, thought to be the eventual ics update. I'll flash Scott's version once its ready and try polaris.

[Q] AOSP Calendar

Hi I am on Nero v5 and I wanted to add the AOSP calendar I got from the Gingerclone r2 rom. I installed via root explorer and everything is fine, but there is this grey bar on the top that I can't get rid of. I tried searching and installed different apks, but none of them fixed this problem.
To my knowledge I do not think we have a fix... I had the same issues a long time ago when I used AOSP. Have you tried d/loading an AOSP rom and moving the .apks from that rom to system/app?
I have not tried that. It may work.
Yeah and I still had the same problem
I read A POST a LONG time ago where someone said they had it working.... I believe I even sent them a PM, but it has been deleted. I know someone claimed to have done it, so maybe with luck searching.... please pm me if you find the answer.
OP, you may want to keep an eye out here:
http://devsforandroid.com/ip.board/...osp-clone1001202011/page__gopid__484#entry484
Getting rid of white bar In AOSP calendar
"The framework-res.apk hack is just replacing timepicker_input_selected.9.png file with one that's totally transparent"
from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774914
I did this when placing AOSP calendar on my vibrant. Worked great, seems to have no other adverse effects. (this is on 2.1 but it should be the same)
That being said though, after reading further in the thread, it seems implicated that Eugene's later calendars from his roms do not call for that .png , so you may pull a calendar out of one of his later AOSP ROMS and see if that works before messing with your framework, wich I found to be difficult on the vibrant, (although I did it mostly on the phone which was part of my problem, if I just waited til i was in front of a computer it would have been easier)
EDIT : just realized you did get your calendar from Eugene, so you may want to ask over there how he fixed it or use above solution.

[Q] Vulkano player and Leaked Gingerbread

Anyone got the Vulkano player working on any of the leaked GB roms? I just get an "Unable to play stream", it works just fine on CM 7, so there must be something goofy about the leak.
I read that there might be a trick with libmediaplayerservice.so but I cannot find any links to this.

This thread should be moved out of the "Thunderbolt Android Development" and placed in "Thunderbolt Q & A"; which would seem more appropriate, since you are asking a question.
I have the same question. I did a search, and this appears to be the only place it was asked. I love the new Bamf GB roms, but if I can't get my Vulkano working, I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to Froyo.
I found a thread on Vulkano's website, but it wasn't explained very well (also I'm not allowed to link it due to my low post count). He didn't say which previous version, or where to find and replace it (I assume using root explorer) Could anyone with more knowledge of this please explain where I might look for "libmediaplayerservice.so" and why it might be the culprit?
Does anyone know where I might find the "libmediaplayerservice.so" file from CM7? I think this may be the file to try to use based on what I read. I would like to give it a whirl and report back if possible.
This is where I found the suggestion: http://vulkanocommunity.com/forum/v...ingerbread-broke-my-vulkano-streaming/page-2/
Thanks

I took the file from the .zip file for cm7...its in the system/lib folder. I pushed this over the one on the phone and it wouldn't boot up. It probably needs some other files...versioning is huge and could cause build issues, I have a lot of programming xp, just not Java/android so I'm playing with fire while I'm in there.

I used the lib file from the bamf 2.0.4 rom. Changed permissions to r-rw. Working on the roms that aren't sense 3.0. On the bamf 3.0 rom I get sound from the vulkano app, but no video. Replacing the lib file does nothing. I am guessing the framework changes on 3. have broken this app. Oh well, I am content with the sense 2 gb roms. Hopefully, vulkano will get this working in the future with sense 3 roms.

Just wanted to chime in here on XDA that the libmediaplayerservice.so file from 2.0-4 doesn't work on BAMF 1.8.6...won't boot up. I'm going to try to grab the same file from BAMF 1.7 as streaming my Vulkano worked fine on that ROM. Fingers crossed.
Reporting back that grabbing the file from BAMF 1.7 remix, pasting (overwrite) into the system/lib folder, and setting the appropriate permissions didn't work on BAMF 1.8.6. Rebooted the phone twice and even uninstalled/re-installed the Vulkano app to no avail.
I reallllly don't want to leave this ROM because I love it but losing the functionality of my Vulkano absolutely blows. Anyone have any suggestions?

FIX:Camera & Google Talk

This fixed both my Camera and Google Talk that stopped working in Sense ROMS om 08-31-11.
FIX:
1. Go to Settings and select Date & Time.
2. Un check Automatic
3. Change the time to 08-01-11
4. Go and open your camera (it should work now)
5. Now you can go back and check Automatic in the Time & Date Setting

I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THIS. Thanks to the help of mpwt51 on the Android Central Forums and Snow02 on the BAMF Forums, this issues is now resolved.
Looks like Verizon put some sort of time bomb into these apps. Simply changing the date back wil resolve this issue. Of course that is no way to actually resolve it. Flash this http://db.tt/Bcltlcr instead and it should solve these two issues.

You guys are freaking geniuses. I have been looking for a solution for this for over 4 hours and found nothing. Figures, the minute I check XDA there is a solution, right there.

That wasn't the case last night when I originally posted the issue and 4 guys over at TheMikMik were flashing like mad men, including myself, to try to figure out what sickness was ailing our beloved devices! Glad there's a cure though.
not rooted
This can't be flashed if not rooted, correct? I'm on GB 2.11 not rooted
It worked on GB 2.11 1nd 2.10 not rooted, Thank you very much!

I've tried this and can confirm it works like a charm.
8-1-11?
Hey guys,
I'm amazed that someone actually figured out that the date is causing this problem. Seems lame that there's this code in the system with expiration dates. WTH Verizon!
Thank you for this fix its a life saver

I'm not really sure why, but this only fixes my google talk, but not my camera. I've tried several of the camera fix .zip files and the most common result, across multiple ROMs is that google talk gets fixed, but the camera stays black, acting like it's working, but there are no buttons and the screen is black.
I first tried this on BAMF Forever 1.10 and acheived that result. Then, I tried it on Liquid Vigorsense v1.1 (can't find v1.2 on Rom Manager and the rootzWiki link doesn't work b/c it was on multiupload) and had the same problem. Eventually, I flashed each ROM again, wiping data, cache, dalvik and batter stats multiple times and when I wen't back in to BAMF Forever, it worked. B/C I liked sense 3.5, I wanted to go back to Liquid VS, so I tried flashing back to it and sure enough, both gtalk and the camera worked.
At that point, the only thing I wanted on a sense 3.5 ROM to make my life complete was the keyboard with arrows, so I tried a few keyboard w/arrows zips and none of them worked, so I tried flashing one of the Infected ROMS (Airborne). I found a keyboard w/arrows zip within their lists, so I flashed it and got the keyboard to work, but then the camera was gone. I found a camera fix that they had and it didn't work initially, but after a few re-flashes, everything worked.
Then I got greedy and wanted my sense world clock/widget, so before flashing back to one of my backups from liquid vs, I backed up the Infected ROM and when it booted back up, gtalk and camera were broken again. I tried flashing all of my backups from liquid and bamf forever that had a working camera and the camera/gtalk were broken on them as well.
So, I've flashed Bamf SOAB and I used the keyboard zip for bamf SOAB (worked!) and the camera fix mentioned in this thread and no dice. gtalk works, but still, just a black screen camera. I've wiped and flashed and wiped and flashed each, liquid and SOAB couple of times each (each time, wiping multiple times).
I've got a hilarious 1 year old girl and really want to get back to documenting her life in the candid fashion she so often provides, but I need my camera to be fixed.
I haven't seen many posts on this topic across most of the forums/sites after Septemer, 2011, so it makes me feel like everyone else got this to work. I didn't have the problem in September. It never hit me until I had to swap out my TBolt due to the right side of my screen crapping out. When the new one came from VZW, the camera/gtalk problem happened.
Any help or ideas? (sorry for writing a book)
Much thanks in advance.

YouTube

I am using a bastardized frankenROM version of Scott's Senseless 2.0 ICS, and I just noticed that I must have deleted YouTube.apk at some point in time accidentally. So I went to the market and looked, and its not there...
I went to a web browser from a PC and went to the market and signed in and tried to send YouTube to my phone from there, but it says YouTube is not compatible with Rezound?? WTF is that about? Has anybody else come across this problem?
I guess I will just use the Honeycomb version from my transformer for now, but weird... I've never seen a Google Inc. made app not appear in the market before.

Why don't you just pull it from the ROM? The reason you're not seeing it is because you're on a Rezound with ICS. This gives the market fits with certain apps because their compatibility is listed for X version to Y version of Android. You're on Z version lol. Oh and if you want I can just post the APK.
I've never run into this problem before and every device I have is running a custom ROM...
No its ok, I have the apk... got it from the ROM like you said. I was just curious if there was an explanation because I've never seen this happen before

Yeah but there was never a huge gap like there is between ICS and GB. Think about it...going from Eclair to Froyo..small gap, some apps didn't work most apps continued to work. Froyo to GB, again some work some didn't.
The new youtube widget is ghey anyways

Senseless 4.0.3 Newt

Just flashed this and its super fast and buttery smooth. Three bugs so far for me calendar force closes. Disabling calendar sync got rid of that. The market wont download and install any apps already tried wiping data on that but no go. Also no gmail app still working on that. So I just sideloaded TB and installed my user apps and all else is well in my universe im sure a market fix will be out in a day or two.
If you have root explorer gmail is in /data folder I believe. Just move it to /system/app and you're good to go!
Thanks had a hard time finding in so i just sideloaded the gmail.apk and its all good. Any idea how to install the android email application its not in the app drawer anywhere?
I'm liking this ROM a lot, favorite so far. Seems mostly stable for me. I haven't experimented much with Market. Things I've noticed... Browser seems a little laggy, but not too bad. No blue flashing is nice. This seems have the least Sense integration! (Only thing is during phone calls still has the Sense call screen with green android guy). But the ICS dialer is very nice. Liking it so far, recommend it in fact!
Thank you very much Newtoroot
Hmm I assume you would just need to get the .apk and add it to the /system/app directory. As long as the permissions are set correctly you should be good to go.
same issues! getting FC on calendar and can't download from market..
but otherwise i love it!
I couldn't take the bugs so i flashed back to scroslers Cleanrom ics. I hope to reload when the next update comes out.
Newt said he'd be releasing one tomorrow (well later today now technically) with fixes. Looking forward to it for sure.
Bluetooth Music Streaming
I've been using Scott's Senseless ROM for about two weeks now, and I'm actually pretty happy with it. It has a few bugs here and there, but certainly usable as a daily driver. My biggest issue is that it has issues with streaming music over Bluetooth. It will eventually connect sometimes if I continuously turn the bluetooth music streaming off and on, but it's a real pain. This seems to be the same issue in Scott's CleanROM ICS, and in Newtoroot's Ineffabilis-Deus ROM, so I assume it's an issue with the drivers in the leak. Can anyone confirm or deny the Bluetooth music streaming capability of this ROM?

asked the same question in the rom thread... i'm gonna assume that this is still an issue as it has been on all ICS roms. That's the only reason I don't have a 4.0.whateva running on my phone right now... bt streaming is a must have for me, don't know what i'd do without it...

Yea, this is just one of those hoping against all odds things. I'm pretty sure we won't get ICS + streaming bt until there's an official HTC ICS ROM. I just hope that's soon, and I can't imagine it wouldn't be soon, given the quality of the leaked ROMs. I'm checking online daily like I'm waiting on a check in the mail! LOL

I'm confused about one thing regarding this ROM. Newt says in the features list that this ROM contains and updated kernel, but it says at the end that he doesn't include a boot.img. I thought the boot.img WAS the kernel? No?

Can anyone shed light on this? I think me not understanding how this works is also causing me other problems. I tried to restore a nandroid backup from my original stock ROM, and it won't boot up. All of the ROMs I've flashed thus far have been from scrolser, which automatically reboot to fastboot (or is it HBoot?) and install the kernel. Does this same type of thing have to be done for nandroid restores? Do I need to perform the restore, then go back and flash the kernel separately?

Use the kernel on page 4 of the thread in the dev. forum...otherwise you may end up with some process.acore crashing hell.
Otherwise, it is an awesome ROM...my favorite senseless ICS one so far.
MMS in ICS
I have tried a couple different de-sensed ICS ROMs and they all have MMS issuses. Is there one out there that doesn't? I know beggers cant be choosers but I love Newts ROM I just need MMS.

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't really answer my question. If there's a boot.img in the ROM, why do I need to flash another boot.img separately? From some other reading I've done, it looks like the kernel is just part of the boot.img, is that right? I've searched for info on this, but I can't find anything that explains all of this clearly.
