Anyone got the Vulkano player working on any of the leaked GB roms? I just get an "Unable to play stream", it works just fine on CM 7, so there must be something goofy about the leak.
I read that there might be a trick with libmediaplayerservice.so but I cannot find any links to this.

This thread should be moved out of the "Thunderbolt Android Development" and placed in "Thunderbolt Q & A"; which would seem more appropriate, since you are asking a question.
I have the same question. I did a search, and this appears to be the only place it was asked. I love the new Bamf GB roms, but if I can't get my Vulkano working, I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to Froyo.
I found a thread on Vulkano's website, but it wasn't explained very well (also I'm not allowed to link it due to my low post count). He didn't say which previous version, or where to find and replace it (I assume using root explorer) Could anyone with more knowledge of this please explain where I might look for "libmediaplayerservice.so" and why it might be the culprit?
Does anyone know where I might find the "libmediaplayerservice.so" file from CM7? I think this may be the file to try to use based on what I read. I would like to give it a whirl and report back if possible.
This is where I found the suggestion: http://vulkanocommunity.com/forum/v...ingerbread-broke-my-vulkano-streaming/page-2/
Thanks

I took the file from the .zip file for cm7...its in the system/lib folder. I pushed this over the one on the phone and it wouldn't boot up. It probably needs some other files...versioning is huge and could cause build issues, I have a lot of programming xp, just not Java/android so I'm playing with fire while I'm in there.

I used the lib file from the bamf 2.0.4 rom. Changed permissions to r-rw. Working on the roms that aren't sense 3.0. On the bamf 3.0 rom I get sound from the vulkano app, but no video. Replacing the lib file does nothing. I am guessing the framework changes on 3. have broken this app. Oh well, I am content with the sense 2 gb roms. Hopefully, vulkano will get this working in the future with sense 3 roms.

Just wanted to chime in here on XDA that the libmediaplayerservice.so file from 2.0-4 doesn't work on BAMF 1.8.6...won't boot up. I'm going to try to grab the same file from BAMF 1.7 as streaming my Vulkano worked fine on that ROM. Fingers crossed.
Reporting back that grabbing the file from BAMF 1.7 remix, pasting (overwrite) into the system/lib folder, and setting the appropriate permissions didn't work on BAMF 1.8.6. Rebooted the phone twice and even uninstalled/re-installed the Vulkano app to no avail.
I reallllly don't want to leave this ROM because I love it but losing the functionality of my Vulkano absolutely blows. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just ordered my G Tab from Amazon and wondering what ROM I should jump to.
Thanks for your time.
Each ROM has it's fans but I've been running VEGAn 5.1.1 since it was posted and for me and my needs from a tablet it's rock solid without a bunch of force closes or other issues like I've read other people report about other roms or tweaks (like using different kernels) they've made to them after they've flashed a flavor of rom.
I use my gTAB for games, reading books/magazines/comics, accessing my work computers, watching ripped videos, watching flash videos on sites like HULU (needs hacked Flash) or Fox Television (doesn't need hacked Flash). And I've had access to the Market with almost every app I've needed or wanted show up without any tweaks.
In the end it's really up to the user and what the user wants out of their tablet.
I moved to the Vegan GB ROM mainly because, for some reason, Flash kept malfunctioning on any of the 2.2 ROMs I used. I miss watching videos, but hopefully a GB driver is forthcoming.
On the 2.2 side, I preferred Calkulin's ROM (with pershoot's Froyo kernel) because it was fast, and I also thought it was more tablet-oriented.
My advice is, while your tab is still new and you don't have it as customized as you will in the future, flash every ROM available and take them for a test spin. I'd run Calkulin's Format All zip before every ROM install just to be safe.

Considering how easy it is to do, I second this. It's pretty much what I did before settling on VEGAn 5.11, although I think I may try VEGAn Ginger again.
I am running CM7 on the Gtab without any issues. I chose CM7 rom since I am familiar with it because I am using that on my DInc.
Yeah I was considering VEGAn Ginger too. Let's see how much free time I have this weekend.
I am running cm7 on mine....since all the other versions are based off cm7 anyway. Cyanogenmod does an update and pushes it out...I don't have to wait for the others to update their source base from cm and merge in their rom edits.

I use CM7 with Pershoot's kernel and VTL Launcher. I've found it quite nice since they integrated in the tablet tweaks. I don't watch videos on it, though, so I haven't had to worry about hardware acceleration. Though, apparently, the last stable release and nightly gives some NVidia tuning, though not full hardware acceleration like Froyo, from what I gather.

You can get the hacked libflashplayer.so file for flash 10.2 here. You need to install the standard flash 10.2 first, though. It's available on the market, but you can also get it here if it doesn't show up in the market for you. I've been running it on CM 7.0.2 and it works great; just make sure to set your browser to desktop (in stock browser, Menu>Settings>Select User Agent; I set mine to linux desktop) and configure the run at boot file transfer script (instructions are in the post).

I have been running CM7 on my gTab since day 1. Very happy with it!
Download the attached zip to mount the internal SD card as /sdcard instead of /emmc if you wish.
You can also Google "CM7GBMod3.zip" to remove all unnecessary CM7 apps to give you a cleaner feel.
I did a search on this forum, and I've seen some posts on other forums about this, but nothing I've tried so far has worked. Is it possible to get the AOSP Browser on a Sense ROM (I'm running BAMF 1.7 right now). The HTC browser is worthless, and I'm not a fan of the various market replacements (I've tried DolphinHD, Firefox, Skyfire, both Opera's, and Miren). In my opinion the AOSP broswer is near perfect. Minimal overhead, does its job and that's all. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

no idea, but you can try to pull the .apk from any AOSP rom or from CM7 and use adb to push the file.

Already tried that. I've pulled the browser from CM7 and from 'de-sensed' builds. I delete the old browser (actually just rename), reboot, push the new browser to /system/app, and install. Install works fine, but the browser just FC's upon load. Anyone got any ideas? I've read its difficult because of all the tweaks made to the HTC browser, but it must be possible since some de-sensed ROMs use it. I just don't know where to make edits to prevent FCs.
I use this Rom manager install from Teslacoil and it works perfect with DB 1.63. Do not try it with GB, it will fail hard!
Thanks, I am going to give it a shot now.
good i like this
Don't forget to repair permissions then reboot. Works for me. Also make sure your using something like root explorer with mount on when your switching apks in the system folder.
My bad that's if you use the apks from an older post on the forum so just ignore if your using the one posted above.
So after limping along with Illuminate for a while, I finally bit the bullet and installed Gtabcomb 3.3, works fine, FC's the gallery app on boot but otherwise a pretty smooth experience. (oh occasionally I get an earsplitting white noise from the speakers for no reason, only way to stop is to reboot) But it seems to have stagnated, haven't seen an update or anything in a while, but I see that Flashback is getting a pretty constant stream of updates, and it interests me, what would the main differences be in the 2 roms?
Also I saw a post on Tabletroms saying that 3.2 had been ported to the Advent Vega, which I know is very similar to the Gtab, will it be heading to the Gtab soon?
Sorry for the rambling
I run Flashback as my daily.
Truthfully, flashing is so easy just back it all up and flash it for a try.
Rumor I heard over at slatedroid is 3+ maybe coming soon with possible H/W Accel? Dev of flashback is working with them for testing...
Might be a good time to try it out?

One more vote for Flashback.
I was stuck on 1.1 forever, after lots of failed or half-ass attempts at flashing ROMs other than my original install of VeganGE. Today I meticulously went through the steps to go back to 1.1 stock, over to 1.2, then setting up Flashback. The only hitch I encountered was a broken market, which was fixed on my second attempt at the simple market fix method.
Flashback is just phenomenal. I'm running 8.1 and have found no Force Closes on any program. Fast, smooth and sexy. Just like me. /ducks
A big thank you to the developers of FB - in my opinion, the best ROM out there for our tablets.

I hate this so much it makes me angry! It makes my tablet look cheap! I've tried reinstalling the roms several times but after a while it starts doing it again! It's not like I have toomany widgets or icons on my homescreen.. What gives? Is this normal? I thought the tegra 2 should handle widgets and icons!! Anyone else having this issue?

Do what I've been doing and see if it helps: halve the memory-related settings (which are for a tablet with 1GB of RAM) in /init.rc. Just flash the attached zip file using CWM.
It's been a while since I tested the script, so understand that you do this at your own risk. If there are any screwups, just reflash the ROM. That will restore your original /init.rc, and therefore, the original memory-related settings.
If the modifications worked, then attach the changed /init.rc file so I can take a look at it.

1. Flash the zip file using CWM anytime after GtabComb installation.
2. Install Root Explorer, or another file manager which lets you work on system files, and copy the /init.rc file to a micro SD card or USB stick, then transfer this to your PC and post the file here.
Just flashed this and its super fast and buttery smooth. Three bugs so far for me calendar force closes. Disabling calendar sync got rid of that. The market wont download and install any apps already tried wiping data on that but no go. Also no gmail app still working on that. So I just sideloaded TB and installed my user apps and all else is well in my universe im sure a market fix will be out in a day or two.
If you have root explorer gmail is in /data folder I believe. Just move it to /system/app and you're good to go!
Thanks had a hard time finding in so i just sideloaded the gmail.apk and its all good. Any idea how to install the android email application its not in the app drawer anywhere?
I'm liking this ROM a lot, favorite so far. Seems mostly stable for me. I haven't experimented much with Market. Things I've noticed... Browser seems a little laggy, but not too bad. No blue flashing is nice. This seems have the least Sense integration! (Only thing is during phone calls still has the Sense call screen with green android guy). But the ICS dialer is very nice. Liking it so far, recommend it in fact!
Thank you very much Newtoroot
Hmm I assume you would just need to get the .apk and add it to the /system/app directory. As long as the permissions are set correctly you should be good to go.
same issues! getting FC on calendar and can't download from market..
but otherwise i love it!
I couldn't take the bugs so i flashed back to scroslers Cleanrom ics. I hope to reload when the next update comes out.
Newt said he'd be releasing one tomorrow (well later today now technically) with fixes. Looking forward to it for sure.
Bluetooth Music Streaming
I've been using Scott's Senseless ROM for about two weeks now, and I'm actually pretty happy with it. It has a few bugs here and there, but certainly usable as a daily driver. My biggest issue is that it has issues with streaming music over Bluetooth. It will eventually connect sometimes if I continuously turn the bluetooth music streaming off and on, but it's a real pain. This seems to be the same issue in Scott's CleanROM ICS, and in Newtoroot's Ineffabilis-Deus ROM, so I assume it's an issue with the drivers in the leak. Can anyone confirm or deny the Bluetooth music streaming capability of this ROM?

asked the same question in the rom thread... i'm gonna assume that this is still an issue as it has been on all ICS roms. That's the only reason I don't have a 4.0.whateva running on my phone right now... bt streaming is a must have for me, don't know what i'd do without it...

Yea, this is just one of those hoping against all odds things. I'm pretty sure we won't get ICS + streaming bt until there's an official HTC ICS ROM. I just hope that's soon, and I can't imagine it wouldn't be soon, given the quality of the leaked ROMs. I'm checking online daily like I'm waiting on a check in the mail! LOL

Can anyone shed light on this? I think me not understanding how this works is also causing me other problems. I tried to restore a nandroid backup from my original stock ROM, and it won't boot up. All of the ROMs I've flashed thus far have been from scrolser, which automatically reboot to fastboot (or is it HBoot?) and install the kernel. Does this same type of thing have to be done for nandroid restores? Do I need to perform the restore, then go back and flash the kernel separately?

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't really answer my question. If there's a boot.img in the ROM, why do I need to flash another boot.img separately? From some other reading I've done, it looks like the kernel is just part of the boot.img, is that right? I've searched for info on this, but I can't find anything that explains all of this clearly.

I have searched and searched the forums for hours before posting this question so I apologize if I have missed the solution.
I am using NilP's Business Sense ICS Rom v2.2 and everything works fine but Polaris Office. Every time I try to open an attachment I get an error saying, "Unfortunately, Polaris Office has stopped".
What I have done so far:
I have removed the PolarisOffice.apk that came with the rom and have installed again several times. I install by using adb push to /system/app. I've read in other posts that Polaris needs 2 lib files to be pushed to /system/lib and I have done this to no avail. I also downloaded and pushed a Polaris .apk that Scott posted in his thread for his CleanRom. That did not work either.
Is anyone else having this issue with the new ICS roms and Polaris? Also, can anyone point me in the right direction to getting it fixed?
Have u tried fixing permisions?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't tried that. Do you know what the permissions should be? And for which, the apk or the lib files?
Yeah, the newest leaked seems to have broken polaris office. I liked looking at my work schedule on it best because you could zoom out enough to see the whole thing and it was still clear.
It was working on previous ICS leak based ROMs, but now is not.
Not sure how to fix it, but post here if you get it working.
Yeah I like it better than the other doc viewers/editors I've used so far.
If I find a fix, I'll def post the solution.
New leak is out, thought to be the eventual ics update. I'll flash Scott's version once its ready and try polaris.
