What do you guys use Bluetooth for? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I don't use Bluetooth that much I’ve really never used it for anything except for trying my PS3 controller. I can use it wired though or use a wireless controller. I was just asking because I finally got a Prime that will run 18mb/s down in same large room as my router, consistent. So what can I do with Bluetooth that I can’t do wireless. Not a real big gamer I got a 360 and PS3 that mainly just sit there over 30 games for each. I do like racing games though. The only problem is that my Prime is mismatched which I don't really mind most of the time it isn’t docked anyways. I got it in an Acase.
My mismatched prime I like it really though, that's what matters. After 6 Prime duds, I love this thing!!!

Bluetooth is mainly used for connecting device to devices, which is something you may or may not be able to do over WiFi depending on what devices you are using and what kind of router you use.
I personally mainly use Bluetooth on my Prime to connect it to a couple fo different sets of wireless headphones while listening to music or watching Netflix. I have also used it to transfer files back and forth between my phone and tablet when I was away from WiFi. I have also used it to set up internet tethering between my phone and tablet (before I found FoxFi).
Sometimes I use bluetooth in my car to connect my tablet to my car stereo so that I can stream music from my tablet to my car, but usually I do this with my phone since my phone can use Pandora or TuneIn with its constant data connection.

I use BT mainly for either tethering internet connection, connecting to my Atrix and transferring files, photos, and movies, connecting to Atrix to use it as a BT controller.

24 hours bluetooth for tablet talk

Don't forget that you can also use bluetooth to connect to an external GPS device.

yeah, I do that also. forgot to add that in there. works great!

I used to use it for BT speaker when streaming netflix or pandora but when I'm connected to my home router my wifi degrades by a lot so it became useless. I noticed the same when I use ps3 controller and I'm playing online. But those 2 were the only reason I used it.

I use B/T to connect to Jawbone Jambox to listen to music when outside or I used it today to watch a movie w/o earbuds. Cool speaker & works well.

very nice BT drivers on the prime imho. Its been horrible on my phone^^ Had to use a few workarounds and install a custum rom to get it working with all my devices...
On the prime though, everything just works and connects instantly.

I use it for my ps3 sixaxis controller. Mostly gta3 and zen pinball. Everything works great. BTW if you want to try it, just plug the controller in with a usb cable then goto bluetooth and pair it then unplug the cable and done.

Does anybody know how to pair TF to phone and to use TF as handset to answer calls and maybe to dial via phone?

I use my logitech bluetooth mouse and keyboard with my tablet. I know I know, why not buy the dock but I had bought this combo way back in the day so it works.

I use the Wii mote with a classic controller for N64oid.
And the wii mote for gameboid.
Works great for me.

bluetooth audio and 3.5mm out
slightly OT question
I don't have a prime yet but would like to get one. Have one question about the bluetooth. Can one use the bluetooth headset and the 3.5mm audio out at the same time?
thanks,

I use the bluetooth to connect it to an apple keyboard when my dock runs out of battery.

How did you get it to work with the apple wireless keyboard, because I can get it connected but it doesn't do anything.

Im only using it for my ps3 controller when playing gta 3 and shadowgun
which is quiet useful when playing on a tv

How exactly do you transfer files? I did this once before a while ago and remember it worked perfectly, but I simply can't figure it out now. I have the devices paired, now what?

I use my Bluetooth for file transfers from my come PC to the TF and same from my phone to the TF, also I use it for tethering for Tablet Talk

Torque Pro

Is anyone using that or have tried for their NC? I'm wonder what the bluetooth range would be and if it would be able to connect to an OBD2 bluetooth reciever that would be maybe 3 ft away. It would be great to get a 7in NC mounted in the car and be able to see real time info in your car.
I'm not sure how well it would work over Bluetooth. Do you already have the Bluetooth module? If you do them you should really check out alaprecorder. Its pretty wicked and you can use your phone plus odbII.

With so small range I really doubt how useful this can be.

I haven't gotten the module yet and I don't have an android phone either so this would be my only option. too bad BT doesn't have more range...
I'm currently using it in a Jeep Wrangler install with a bluetooth OBDII reader, and it works great. The Nook and reader are around 3 feet apart, but I've been up to about 5 feet away and not lost the connection.

A2DP/wifi-np ps3 controller/wifi-problem

So I tested my prime when i got it for bluetooth/wifi issues by using a2dp on my jawbone icon and watching netflix. There was no problems as far as I could tell. I got a ps3 controller and got on onlive to play a game and realized a major wifi fall out. So I turned off bt and went into netflix, started up some Archer, turned on bt and connected ps3 controller, wifi degraded instantly and became unusable. Don't know if this has been reported as I have done a ton of reading and haven't come across this particular issue. Maybe its a bt profile issue.
I also just realized another strange issue. Does anyone elses dock act like you pressed "enter" when you actually presses "shift+b"? Here is it goes:
BBBBB
BBB
BBB
BB
after the first press it makes a capital b just fine but take your fingers off and do it again and it goes to the next line and no "B". weird.
I have the same problem with ps3 controller. So far its the only problem I have withmy prime. I love it and use it everday but it sucks because I also use oblige and hate having to plug the controller through usb. Hopefully there is a fix soon.

I guess I'm going to get a wireless xbox 360 controller, the one for pc that comes w a usb dongle or the universal onlive controller. The ps3 works fine with emulators, but I want one that works w onlive (xbox controller does). Just started checking out the onlive service and its actually pretty cool on a fast connection.

Onlive

I want a prime for my ten inch tablet. I wqnna know if anyone has onlive wireless controller and uses it with their prime. I read some issues about WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time.

Using a bluetooth controller with Onlive
Hi, while I don't have the Onlive controller, I have used the wireless PS3 controller and can confirm that the WIFI signal drops too much to play a game. I am trying to get an external bluetooth dongle to work but no luck so far
Hope that helps

[Q] Bluetooth interferes with wifi tethering

Hi all -- I have an issue that I wonder if anyone has come across -- when I'm at the gym, I tether my iPad to my Note II's WiFi tether. I've discovered that when I'm using my SB2 Jaybird Bluetooth wireless headphones with the iPad, they interfere with the WiFi tether connection and the speed of the connection drops dramatically to the point where I can't stream video (I've tested this -- when the Bluetooth headphones are off, there's no issue with the connection). I'm talking 30 megabits down, and the Bluetooth almost completely kills it. Has anyone encountered this? I've looked through both the Bluetooth and WiFi settings on both the phone and the iPad for some kind of "switching channels" option to see if I can get them to stop interfering with each other, but I can't find anything. I fear the only solution is to buy wired headphones, but I thought I would see if any of you better informed folks out there have any thoughts or possible solutions. Thanks so much in advance!
Update, did find the setting to change channel on wifi tether settings on the Note 2. Unfortunately, did not help as it would seem anything in the 2.4 spectrum is going to interfere with the bluetooth. Wired headphones, here I come...

I'm on Beans 13 and using the built-in tether. But I had the same problem with my GNex, no mater which WiFi app I used. I think it's clearly a Bluetooth/WiFi hardware interference issue, at least for me. If anyone out there is using a set of Bluetooth headphones and tethering a tablet or whatever to their phone at the same time with no data throughput issues with the tablet, I'd love to hear about it.
Running b13 as well and TrevE wifi, I have simultaneously used the wifi tether in my car for my pc while blue tooth was connected to my car for phone calls and haven't noticed any issues while browsing and in a call at the same time.
Although I haven't been doing anything that is data intensive like streaming missing if movies, in that situation. I never been in a situation where I'm using my blue tooth headphones while tethering though. I just thought I would share my experience.

Yeah, I have no issues with normal browsing, ore even streaming music. But the interference just kills streaming video. Would be curious next time you're all hooked up if you could stream hi-def video with no incident...
I attempted what I thought would be a comparable test. Blue tooth connected to car for audio streaming from Google music, wifi tether running to my laptop and tablet, youtube on the laptop and Netflix on the tablet. I ran a movie on Netflix for about 10mins, and the YouTube at 1080 (12min tips and tricks video for gn2 owners ) all while Google music was playing one of my favorites, ATLiens (an album not previously stored on my phone) and I had no problems. No skipping music from the blue tooth to the car, and no stutters or playback issues in the laptop or tablet from the tether.
Sorry I couldn't replicate your issue. I have never had to do so many things at once with my devices, it was fun.
Now that I think about it though when I used to rock my Rezzy. I took a road trip to VA and had my wife's ipad watching ABC go , her younger cousin streaming whatever she was watching in the back seat, blue tooth music playing in my car and maps with navigation running all at the same time without a hitch. But that is a completely different device. Just to say I never had a problem with tether and blue tooth in the past.

Wow, thanks for doing that so quickly. The only thing I can think of is either I'm some bizarro case, or the car Bluetooth connection is somehow different frequency-wise than the connection of my Jaybird Bluetooth headphones. I also tried my wife's Bluetooth headphones, which are made by a different company, and had the same problem. With wired headphones, I have zero issues. So weird.
Your probably right about the car being different.

Yeah, though it could also be this one type of Bluetooth headphones, since my wife's pair looks like exactly the same tech, even though it's a different company. I didn't consider that before, your test where Bluetooth clearly doesn't interfere in some instances led me to that, so thanks!
Apologies for resurrecting a dead thread but an iPad Air and alcatel pt-938 with mm450-x here with major interference trott to 0kb/s dead. Is wired really our only solution folks??

Third Party Controllers

Does anyone know if the Nexus Player supports them, and what about a USB controller over OTG? OTG, in general, for that matter.
Sent from my Oneplus One with Tapatalk Pro.
In my case specifically I would love that DualSchock 3 (PS3 controller) from Sony do the thing hoping that the bluetooth environment are compatible, I maybe pro Google and the Nexus Player is a hell of a device in every angle, including price value, but I am also pro money and Nexus 6 plus the Player and ALSO needs to buy apart the ASUS controller, I rather the first two.
I was able to get Xbox controllers working on the Fire TV by just plugging them in. I'm sure the Nexus Player running android will have Plug and Play support for most controllers.
talk about putting the cart before the horse...
i ordered two nexus player controllers. they are scheduled to be shipped to me tomorrow...
the thing is i dont yet have the players (i ordered two)
Waiting patiently myself. I ordered an official controller. But Im hoping an xbox 360 controller over OTG will work.
Sent from my Oneplus One with Tapatalk Pro.
If the Nexus Player controller is the same as the one that came with ADT-1 (and it looks like it is by the pictures), it's just a standard bluetooth controller. . . and it sucks. That said though, I did learn that I could connect my PS3 controller to my ADT-1 via USB and it just worked (after hitting the PS button). The only odd thing with using the sixaxis is after I disconnect it from the ADT-1, it turns on my PS3. haha
I have successfully paired a Moga Pro in HID mode, and hooked up multiple Xbox 360 controllers over OTG. If you already have USB or Bluetooth controllers that work on other Android devices, chances are good that they will work on the Player as well.
The only limitation for now is that controllers that rely on an app for custom mappings or touch emulation are not guaranteed to work, simply because most apps are not optimized for Android TV yet. YMMV.
I received my NP yesterday and have both my Nyko Playpad Pro's connected and working fine, no issues.
any chance the Nvidia Shield controller will work?
Unsure on Nvidia Shield, but do not see why not. The Nyko's were purchased in hopes they would work when Fire TV came out and they were half the price @ Gamestop (paid $20/each) compared to the FireTV controller and they worked straight away.
PS4 controller is working via USB, it'll show up on Bluetooth if you put it into pairing mode (hold Share + PS button) but it will never finish pairing
The Logitech F710 works with Android 5, but I don't have an OTG cable that will work in the NPlayer. I ordered one. I'll test with the player once that arrives.
This is not a bluetooth gamepad, but it is wireless and has a USB dongle. My current OTG cable has an angled connection, and it angles towards the HDMI cable. I did test it with my N9 and verified it worked fine there. Since it's suppose to be the same Android but with a different UI, I anticipate it working on the NPlayer as well.
Will update with results when I have them.

that wont work, nividia shield works over wifi and not bluetooth. i own two and will test on the nexus player but it already doesnt work on any other android device so im sure it wont.
Got my straight OTG cable in. Logitech F710 works fine. Played some FF3 with it without issue.
I am researching on a controller to buy for the nexus player. I have the NES30 and im having issues connecting. I am looking for one to buy to play emulators such as n64. Which controller would be best?
The gamepad or a 3rd party one? Does anyone know if the Amazon fire tv one works with the NP?

I have amazon credit, so if i get a controller there I can get a controller cheap. I was thinking about trying the amazon fire tv controller or maybe another bluetooth controller maybe Mad Catz ctrl r or i.
Is the nexus gamepad worth $50 (with tax and shipping) vs the other controllers I mention above? I have enough amazon credit to get most controllers on amazon for really cheap.

I happened to own a Nyko Playpad (not the Pro) from a while ago that I never really used. While I can't recommend it as a great gaming controller, it does have one key feature that turns it from run-of-the-mill control pad to ultimate NP utility. It contains a switch that allows you to switch between HID, iCade, Mouse, and App modes. It's the Mouse setting that makes this controller truly useful, because without it, I couldn't navigate around MAME to set up my control pad, or navigate around Mupen64 to quit out of a game (how else are people achieving this? Just quitting out?) Basically, to really set up many of the emus properly, you need some kind of mouse input, so it's nice that I can switch the Playpad back and forth between HID and Mouse modes as needed.

How did you set up the buttons? I don't exactly have a touch screen TV to setup each button individually.
