I need to get my phone back to normal ASAP! - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Ive unlocked the bootloader, rooted my phone and put a custom rom on it.
It needs to go back to the shop as my wife does not want it.
Its got a 28 day money back guarantee and today is the 28th day, so I need to do it ASAP.
I don't need to relock/re root it really, I just need to get a stock ROM on it so it looks normal.
The girl at the shop will only turn it on to check its working, but i fear if she sees the custom boot screen she might think, 'hey this is different to all the others ive seen'.

Ideally I would like to put the original Tesco ROM back onto it
Hmmm thats got me thinking. When Jinx unlocked my bootloader etc, he saved some files on my computer incase i needed a back up.
These are the files I have:

This is a nandroid backup made with clockworkmod that means if you flash it back your phone will be in a non-stock rooted state. You can restore it and then check your phone status. If you know how it was rooted, unroot your phone with the same method after you flash this image.

The above files are a backup of the old bootloader not the ROM itself. Does anyone have a Tesco ROM by any chance?

Well thats what Jinx told me and hes the one that did the procedure.
Ive asked him to look at this thread just to double check.

Tesco rom has no Tesco splash screen only Tesco app and Tesco settings for Internet mms.
Flash. 42 or 58 with wotanserver and then se update service might flash a Tesco rom for ya, as your product code probably still on Tesco UK.

This is actually my second one anyway! The first one I broke whilst trying to unlock the bootloader
I tried to recreate what i did but this one just wont break!
So I'm trying to make it look as normal as possible.
I've been looking on Team Da Vinci and they mention the Tesco ROM on their website:
http://davinciteam.co.uk/phone_details_SK17i_4.0.A.2.377_0001,0002,0003,0004.html
But they want £8.75 for the pleasure. The website also doesn't look like it's been updated in a while. I don't wanna give them my money and then find out it won't work. I've used Da Vinci before and it was a pleasant experience, but it was about five years ago.

They are not the files I left.
The files I left are user\SeTool\Backup\%IMEI%\
And in the format %IMEI%%date%.fakesign
And %IMEI%%date%.backup
They are typically 2-4kb in size
I do not know where you got those files from
EDIT...
I may have some credits you can have for them let me see if I can find the ID and password
But not promising
Jinx13

If you wanna flash these files back then with root explorer or astro explorer navigate to /mnt/sdcard.If you see a folder named clockworkmod then go to clockworkmod/backup and make a folder there.Put files inside.Restart in clockworkmod, choose backup and restore, restore and flash the specific backup. If there isn't a folder named clockworkmod then you have to install it first (you must be rooted) and then do the above.

Phone has been taken back to shop now. Refunded all ok
She didnt even look at the phone lol!
Better to be safe than sorry i guess
I used Wotanserver in the end to flash a stock .42 image and left it at that.

Simpuls!
Tesco are a good bunch.
unfortunately they damaged the sim contact on mine when bundling with there Tesco sim before sealing box.
I have to use blue tac to keep pressure and contact on my 3 sim to get service.
Looking forward to ice cream tho face unlock should be fun and hopefully bit quicker.

[Tutorial] WotanServer paid? Let´s decrypt Wotan files!

DECRYPT WOTAN FILES
- Hi folks, here is a simple solution to decrypt wotan files, why we should pay again for a firmware that is already on our pc´s ?
- We can distribute this firmwares betwen us since we all have them!
- This works on any Xperia device!
Lets start
Warning:
a - Im no responsible if this bricks your device.
b- I have bad english, so ive made screencaptures to make this easier for you and me
1) Locate Wotan data folder
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2) Go to data/flashes and locate 3 files
Using ubuntu i discovered that those files are compressed
3) Using 7zip (or any compression software) Extract them
4) And voila, we got our files, but they are hidden.
5) Change those files extension to .sin
now they are ready for the bundle creation
6) Open Flashtool ... advanced... bundle creation.
7) Choose the folder where the files are...
8) Pass them to firmware content...
9) in device, version and branding fields put wathever you want, i put my device info, to recognize it later easier and press OK
10) Select your device if flashtool ask
11) Wait untill is finished...
12) The END, we got our FTF file to flash with Flashtool whenever we want and without paid anything!
Cheers!
If this was helpful please press Thanks button
Edit: reuploading the images!
I have downloaded many firmwares, I got 8 files there...and I have no idea which belongs to which one.
Gonna try something.

That's the problem.
Already first errors also when trying to extract, couldn't get full package.
Hmm I tried to build an FTF for my Xperia Mini firmware that I previously got off WotanServer, but FlashTool somehow gets "stuck" once it hits adsp.sin (which is like the 1st file it is trying to flash). The phone seems to be rejecting the flash.
My phone's bootloader is not unlocked though. But WotanServer was still able to flash the stock firmware (as it should be) nonetheless.
I'm thinking is it possible that maybe the files are individually encrypted in some way so the phone rejects it or something?
EDIT: Since other users have said it's successful, am I doing something wrong?
Works like a charm!!!!
Awesome, bro. Now All we need is a fully credit loades wootan account. i'm working on it, thanks.

I'm trying to do as described but I'm having the same problem Kaiyao, the firmware is not sent to the device, stands and does nothing.
Same here, it get stucked in flashing adsp.... will try again
So i tried again several times, and yes it get stuck in that section just like other people say
I have locked bootloader... maybe thats the problem? (and yes with wotan I can flash it with no problem)
By the looks of it, from reading all the posts, if you have a locked bootloader, it is highly unlikely to work. My bootloader is unlocked and it worked perfectly for me
Edit: Nevermind it didn't work, it got stuck like everybody else's and my bootloader is unlocked :S

So the problem ins't the bootloader, any other ideas?
I do not think the problem is in bootloader, because other ROMs operate normally.
I think there must be some script inside the files that makes them available as a cache file for wotan client re-flash only
Alright guys, in an attempt to flash my ST15i handset to the generic US ST15a firmware (I was hoping to get my 3G working for Digicel here in the Caribbean but no go, I just know the issue is baseband related but back on track), I bought some credit and downloaded the files. I managed to create a "ST15a_4.0.2.A.0.62_Generic Trade US" firmware. Here's the link http://ul.to/2sz71s80
Did you also try to flash it?To check if it works?

I'll flash it and retry just to make sure it works for you since I already flashed it (from ST15i to ST15a via the wotan server software).
Update: It's stuck at this point...
"16/023/2012 20:23:15 - INFO - Loader : S1_Loader_Root_773f - Version : R4A066 / Bootloader status : ROOTABLE / IMEI : ***********
16/023/2012 20:23:15 - INFO - Flashing kernel.sin"
I don't know why...followed the tutorial exactly. Looks like a dud guys, my apologies. Next time I'll test and ensure it works unless someone wants to download and see where it messed up.
PS: Does anyone know if it is possible to get the bands which work for the ST15a working in the ST15i firmware (3G support to be precise)? Do I flash some software or are the bands determined by hardware (e.g. device uses a specific chip)?
Your bootloader is locked, so you can't flash kernels. Exclude it before flashing and flash again.

[Q] Galaxy S3- Should i root my phone just yet? Warranty VOID vs Backups and Add Free

(posted in the correct forum this time )
Galaxy S3 - Should i root my phone just yet?
Is it easy to hide the traces of rooting on an S3 if i have to return the phone under warranty?
I had a original Galaxy S
Had a "WIFI glitch" that could not be sorted without a master reset googled and found this great forum
so I rooted it, to do:
One click lag fix
Titanium backup
Add Free android
What i didn't realise at the time was it invalidates the warranty. cool because i had had the phone a few months.
I have a new Galaxy S3 (yey)
I would like to instal Titanium Backup Add Free Android etc.
is it wise to wait a few weeks/ months before i dive in to rooting, just to see that the phone is working?
Is it easy to hide the traces of rooting on an S3 if i have to return the phone under warranty?
Any advice experience welcome
Cheers
The easiest way is with CF-Root, there also are full unroot instructions should you need to send it in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
My personal preference is to not root for a few days to make sure that everything is working as it should, but that's up to you really

Look at the development section. Chainfire has released cf-root for example to riot with. It's easy to hide traces. Just download triangle away from development section. Run it when rooted and the flash counter drops to zero as well as the warning triangle that indicatea root and customising disappears. The syatem also states itself as samsung original. Now when need of return just flash your original firmware downloaded from sammobile.com back and return phone. The flash meter is still zero as firmware is samsung official

Do Samsung just check:
Settings->About device->Status and make sure Device status is not "Modified"
I can imagine they look to any reason not to honour warranty. saying that ....I had some sammy HDD that got replaced under warranty no questions asked because they were 'pinging'.

I would one wait and check phone .Two wait for your original firmware to be uploaded or on the Checkfus servers .
Root do what you want .

How to uninstall
This is by no means an extensive guide for unrooting, but if you want to sell or warranty your device, I advise the following procedure:
- Use Triangle Away to reset the flash counters, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Boot into recovery and perform a wipe, and pull the battery immediately after rebooting starts
- Go to SamMobile and get the stock firmware for your region
- Flash that stock firmware on your device
- Let Android boot, go through device setup (without doing any logins) until Android is fully usable again
- Reboot
- Wait at least 10 minutes
- Check Settings->About device->Status and make sure Device status is not "Modified"
- Perform another factory reset
- Boot into download mode and make sure the flash counter and system status are all set to official
Some of these steps may require further info, if you can't figure it out, do some more searching, or ask people who aren't me

Yep, and you must make sure sammobile.com DOES in fact have your version..
I see it does not (yet) have mine... But I am already rooted (needed it for Screencast) before I checked. But my device seemed solid before I rooted (waited about 2 days).
My warranty is with Vodacom (2 years), so not sure if that is better than having it directly with Samsung, but "touch wood" nothing will happen with the phone.
Now root is one thing but flashing all these custom ROM's and new kernels from this site.... I do not yet have the heart (or stomack to try that - but once you start to tinker...... )

I just cycle through and make sure the bluetooth, wifi, headphones jack etc. all work and then I root. I'm guessing I beat you by about 5 minutes or so in time to root as I'd say more or less 15 minutes and I was loading my apps back aboard with Ti.
i rooted
there goes the 2 year warranty
Hopefully i will be able to restore the settings if i need a warranty return

If a phone's unrootable I just won't buy it and i'd pick a worse but rootable phone instead.
To unroot seems easy. Coming from a Droid x2 it was incredibly easy to do. Warranties are a must for phones nowadays I think. This seems easy to do too. I for one will be rooting the day of. Though the US variant could be better than the international one.
I rooted
"Triangle away "only removed some traces of rooting. Phone still says modified in the about phone section.
Warranty would require a compete reflash. Which might be difficult if the malfunction (ie the reason you need to return the phone tho Samsung) stopped access to the phone.
I am speculating here. But what if something malfunctions on the phone preventing access or reflash , but when it got to Samsung they could tell it had been rooted?
That's the risk here.
Add free
titanium backup
Better battery time ? (It says rooting does this)
Come at the cost of maybe not being able to restore a phone to warranty worthy.
Is the UK S3 stock ROM available?
Is it easy to install a Rom and then remove modified status for a warranty? Triangle away does not work for S3

SOS: Help a Noob stuck at Samsung screen upon attempt to root

Hello,
Could you pls help a noob with a rooting problem? I attempted to root my ICS AT&T Galaxy Note i-717 using Odin3 v 1.85 and a pda.tar file. Prior to that, I had checked and confirmed the USB drivers are installed (I have Kies software installed on the PC. However, folliwing the succesful flash of pda.tar I got the phone stuck at the Samsung screen. I could still get to the download screen. However, the phone would not go pass that screen. Can you pls tell me what I did wrong/guide me w simple steps on how to fix the phone and finish the root? I have the read many different root treads but I find them confusing. Treads are ponting at different files to be frashed/installed on the phone. Thanks very much.
This happens from time to time...don't worry.
Reboot phone in download mode, connect phone, reflash kernel.
A few things: use stock samsung cable. Use back of computer usb port. Reboot computer before you try again. Re download the kernel to be sure your file is not corrupted. Make sure phone battery is more than 80%.

Stuck at Samsung
I have the same issue tho have tried troubleshooting and could really use some extra help.
Updated to ATT stock ICS update a few months ago. Everything workin fine.
Wanted to root it so I could back everything up not to lose anything when moving to JB.
Rooted by flashing Da_G's pda.tar, reboot, and then flashed 2.3.3.0 TWRP
Noticed it was stuck at Samsung.
Here's where I'm kickin myself because I should have backed it up before all this, but I waited because I figured root doesn't wipe data!
Entered TWRP, backed up.
Now what I've tried to fix it... and failed
1. Reflashed pda.tar about 5 times
2. Found a stock pda "pda-odin-att-stock.tar", flashed (fixed) but it's stock setup and contacts and other google services don't work, lost homescreen icon placement and all other settings.
3. TWRP: Restore all = stuck at Samsung again
4. Repeat 2 and Restore only System
5. Repeat 2 and Restore only Data
6. Repeat 2 and flash pda.tar = boots, but same thing with it all stock, so I restore and it's stuck again.
It's my wife's phone and she has contacts that aren't saved in Google, to-do lists saved in app data files, and to be honest, she said everything better be exactly the same after updating (which I promised it would be since the plan was to root, backup, update, and restore), so I'm kinda trying to save my hide. PLEASE HELP me save my ass ha!
Other things to note: I just rooted a new phone about 30mins prior with the exact same root and TWRP files and it went very smooth, no issues.
Using a Samsung original cable on a laptop. Phone Battery was ~30% when I did all the steps, but since then read that battery should be higher so swapped out to fully charged battery and retried the steps.
Using the root kernel you did, basically flashed a Gingerbread kernel over an ICS rom. (Doesn't work)
Your best bet at this point, is too flash a rooted ICS build from bigfau ...(located in the super thread stock section)
Just flash using TWRP ....BUT !!!
make sure you wipe the dalvik cache, system cache, and system before flashing the rooted ICS build.
Once the rom is flashed, you will be stock and rooted.
Regarding data you have lost with no backup....start begging forgiveness now ....it's gone ....g

Wouldn't I be able to just flash an ICS Kernel to undo the GB kernel and set things straight? Or is the whole thing ruined already?
I have the data/app and data/data files. If all's really lost, I'll just put JB on it. If I copy the data/app and data/data files onto the new image will all the apps with their settings/data be restored at least?
Yes, flash the correct kernel.
I think what happened to me is the OS got deleted cuz once I flashed a rom I was good to go!

What you're missing (Like many other n00bs) is the ability to read which seems to be replaced with the overwhelming urge to just blinding flash anything to their device and then afterwards create silly topics which could have been avoided by doing simple things like reading what a kernel supports.

Ok, carry on flashing random/incompatible kernels/roms to your device and see what happens. I for one will have absolutely no sympathy for you whatsoever.

after restoring the nand bkp, reboot to recovery and then,
1)wipe cache/dalvik
2)fixpermissions under advance
3) reboot ur phone and see.
4) u should also ensure that ur on the same CWM recovery (the one used to make the bkp) while restoring the bkp, to avoid conflicts

First flashing steps..specific questions inside. Need help. Thanks

Hello!
So here I go...first trying to root so I need to go back to 532 BUT I cant find one for the C6802 and USA. Even the one in the link that says TW is a dead link.
Wondering if flashing the [STOCK ROM] [FTF] Xperia Z Ultra (C6806) 14.1.B.1.532 "US Retail" is a bad idea.
I am sure I will have more Qs after this one but this one already got me stuck right off the bat :crying:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453921&highlight=c6802
PS I found one for HK C6802_14.1.B.1.532_HK.ftf maybe that works?
Yo!
It doesn't really matter which version you pick. It'll work as usual. And yes, the HK version will work fine, but it might boot up with chinese language. I'm not really sure. Or you can flash the european version for the C6833.
Ok I also downloaded the C6806 US version but I can use that C6833 European version if you think is a better idea.
I think I can try what I have no harm done, then try another one if that one did not work fine. Right?

Yeah, whatever you feel like doing You're only downgrading to root, so after you've changed the CDA and gottten the OTA update, you'll end up with a german firmware (unless you find a different CDA that has OTA). Either way, just do whatever you want. If it doesn't boot or the ROM is wonky, it'll only take you a couple of mintues to flash a different ROM.
Ok so finally ready to try the firmware. I see stuff like Partition, TA etc on the flash tool. I dont see anything instructions to check any of those so I assume I am good to go, right?
Also, when setting the phone in flashmode there is no icon to indicate you are in that mode?
If I understood correctly the whole back up TA thing or you will lose it only happens if I unlock the bootloader so I think I am fine not checking any of those option to exclude but better safe than sorry.

Don't worry about your TA partition unless you're going to unlock the bootloader. It's safe, and flashtool won't and can't delete it. The only options you might be interested in is wiping of data, appdata etc. so untick those if you don't want to delete everything on your phone (but it's brand new, so my guess is that you don't have that much on it right now)
There are no icons or any signs when you're in flash mode. Flashtool will tell you that you're connected through flashmode and that's that
What happens if you lose your TA partition? I never backed it up as I had no root and I did do a bootloader unlock via Sony site.

Thanks. mmm having issues with not installing the drivers.
Gonna try restarting. Still wont install drivers when I tried flashmode...all I see is the S1 Service with the yellow warning icon under Device Manager. Tried with the drivers from the Flashtool folder and nothing. :/

Once you flash a stock ROM again, X-Reality won't work, and that's about it.

Are you running Win7 or Win8? Win8 has some issues with installing drivers if i remember correctly, and you have to disable "something something drivers", or boot up in safe mode or something. I'm not sure as you can clearly tell
Sorry should have said that. Actually is Windows 7 64 bits. tried many usb ports too.
FINALLY! LOL
I was installing the Ultra dirver when I should have been selecting Flashmode and fastboot from the list! LOL
Looks like I got a tool here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460

My guide is sending me to vroot but that has been taken down so now I am not sure what to use to root :/
This is the guide I was using.

Hey man thanks for being with me through the whole process, appreciated!
I just finished the rooting and didnt have to do the CDA part as I got the OTA 257 upgrade now downloading.
Then I will back up TA and finally time to flash a ROM...now I must decide which one looks good!

Remember to use OTA Root Keeper before you update to 257.

Oh yes, I did the whole guide, Survival mode, OTA keeper and I am on 257 and rooted! Plus just finished the TA back up so only need to unlock bootloader and I am in business!
Nice! To unlock the bootloader, just go to Sony's Dev site and request your unlock keey. Then use flashtool to unlock it. Note that unlocking the bootloader might wipe some stuff (again), and if you can't find the root app when you power it on again, don't freak out
I'm off to bed, so you're on your own now

I am dead then! LOL
Just got an error your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked even thought the service menu says it can be unlocked.
More fun all night for sure.
Good night!
Ok so I got it unlocked and recovery has been installed. Do I have to now restore the TA? I ask as from I understood, we backed it up because it gets wiped out during the unlock thus logical step would be to restore now.

If you restore TA then your bootloader will be automatically locked.
