first you need to make sure youre still unlocked , then the file i gave you, copy that to your computer in the same folder as your fastboot.exe file and then on your phone hold the vol down button and press power to get to your HBOOT screen... the list of options there select the first one, which says fastboot, by pressing the power button once, it will change screens and give you different options.... at this point you connect your data cable to your phone and you should see it say fastboot and then USB should appear once you plug it in... once you do that you open up a ms-dos screen or a terminal screen and change over to the fastboot folder , when youre there type in this
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
recovery_signed.img is the file i sent you , you may have renamed it but the screen will say its sending it then writing it... if successfulk youll see it say "ok" then from there you reboot your phone and youll have the stock recovery back.... if youre going to return the phone for warrenty reasons be sure to relock the bootloader as well...

Help me bring Evo 3D back to stock, HBOOT 1.5 2.17

I have a secondary Evo 3D on my account that recently took a crap. My friend that was using it took the OTA update and it caused it to be updated to 2.17 but also HBOOT 1.5. So from there I unlocked it via HTC unlock method and installed SupraROM. I don't know the exact details but the phone became stuck in an infinite reboot mode. I tried to do a wipe and install the latest MeanROM but when it would boot the battery indicator would show a red triangle with an exclamation point and reboot within 10 seconds. I swapped batteries with a working 3D so I know it's not the battery. I tried downloading a stock 2.17 rom PG86IMG but it won't recognize or install in bootloader or TWRP (I've tried multiple zips). In bootloader it still shows S-ON and then ***UNLOCKED*** in pink up top.
What would be the best way to recover this phone back to 100% stock? Is it bricked or can it be fixed?
You will have to re lock the bootloader first. From fastboot, type "fastboot oem lock"
After the bootloader is re locked, it will allow the PG86IMG.zip to update the phone

Oh man I hope its that simple. Thanks!
EDIT: Nevermind, delete.
The phone is recovered and back to stock! Thanks!
Could you go into more detail please!

I second this!
Can you go back to STOCK without having to plugin your phone to PC? because my device cannot be recognized!
If you're Hboot 1.50, you need the pc to recognize the phone to use fastboot.
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to flash kernels/boot.img files that are part of ROMs.
(There is a way to use FlashImage app for the kernel beforehand if the phone will boot to the OS).
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to format/restore a backup (or the kernel won't get loaded).
You must use the fastboot command to "relock" your phone.
You must "relock" your phone to run the stock RUU.exe's and stock RUU.zip's (PG86IMG.zip).
If you can't get the pc to recognize the phone, try a different PC and especially try SEVERAL usb cables as these tend to go bad.
Additional "Detail" info that may help is in the "guide" in my signature.
Wait where can i get the .zip?

You aren't permanently bricked *sigh of relief* lol
Pull out the battery, press and hold Volume down + Power
Once the bootloader shows up, look at the top, if it says **UNLOCKED** you're one step closer
If it says *LOCKED** or *RELOCKED** you need to go to HTCDev.com and unlock the bootloader. Follow the onscreen instructions (but DON'T run the RUU)
MAKE SURE you have the android SDK!! This has fastboot.exe and adb.exe without these you wont get anywhere
Once you're unlocked, you need to flash a recovery. In the development forum, search for a recovery, I use TWRP, and it does just fine
In the bootloader on the phone, click on fastboot
To flash the recovery, put the .img file into the directory where adb and fastboot are.
Then open the command prompt, type in "cd C:\wherever fastboot and adb are" (minus the quotes) then type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" **if your recovery img is not called recovery.img, just rename it tomake things easier**
Once it's done, type "fastboot boot recovery.img"
Now you're into recovery!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808150
download that ROM, put it on the sd card through recovery, and flash it.
Now your phone is all better!!
***this was all assuming you have the sprint evo 3d, if you don't, you have to look in the gsm forum because the rom I linked is cdma ONLY***

You don't need the stock rom, plenty of images to go around, the important thing is to figure out if ur GSM or CDMA, as using the wrong files will lead you to an actual brick (recoverable, but problematic to say the least)
As beneath-a-burning-turtle pointed out you need to find your desired recovery in the appropriate Dev forum, flash it, and use it to flash a stock rom for your device (preferably after wiping cache, dalvik and data).
beneath-a-burning-turtle gave you the link to the CMDA stock rom, the following is a thread with all the stock RUUs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485
from there you need to open up the ruu and pull the appropriate zips out and flash them

[Guide] Quick And Dirty Return to 100% Stock for Evo 3D/V (S-OFF Only)

It seems like the questions about returning to 100% stock are coming up more often lately, possibly because more users are moving on to other devices. Whatever the reason, I thought a simple guide might be useful to avoid having to duplicate this info in other threads and PM's.
This procedure should work for any CDMA or GSM Evo 3D/V that is S-OFF. There is no way to get an S-ON device that has been HTC unlocked back to 100% stock since relocking the bootloader will result in a status of "relocked".
Here are the steps to do it:
1. Flash the "query_bootloader.zip" file attached to this post in recovery. If the status message shows your bootloader is "unlocked" or "relocked" flash the "lock_bootloader.zip" file from the same post to reset it to "locked".
2. Download an RUU.exe (Windows) or RUU.zip (bootloader) file for your model from this page and flash it using the appropriate method.
If you use the .exe version from Windows it works best if you put the phone into "fastboot USB" mode, and you may have to cancel the RUU utility and restart if it hangs after flashing the stock bootloader when you start with a custom hboot installed.
To flash the RUU.zip via the bootloader it must be renamed to PG86IMG.zip and placed in the root of your SD card, and may need to be flashed twice if a custom hboot is installed the first time it is flashed.
I recommend using the latest version for your model but any compatible RUU can be flashed while S-OFF. It's also a good idea to boot the ROM without doing any setup after flashing the RUU to make sure the ROM has been reset to the stock version.
3. Confirm that the bootloader shows "***LOCKED***" on the top line of the screen and the HBOOT version is a stock bootloader for your device.
4. Issue the "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" command from a PC.
Note: Make 100% sure you have the stock bootloader installed before issuing this command or you will brick your phone.
Your phone will now be 100% stock.
ramjet73
Thanks for the nice toturial but i´m just wondering one thing.
If you fail with the command
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
, will your phone get hardbricked or is it possible to flash a recovery and start over again with fastboot?

If that command fails nothing will happen and your phone will stay S-OFF but the odds of that happening are very small unless your phone is not in "fastboot usb" mode when you issue it.
The risk involves issuing that command when you have a custom hboot like JBear or Revolutionary installed because those bootloaders are not signed and will cause the phone to brick. In that scenario you would not be able to get into recovery.

Ok thanks man.
Ok, in the RUU's I can download I have 2 problems:
1) How do I know which one to download? I see a few that have Sprint ICS. I have the Virgin Mobile phone Evo V 4g. Which one would I get?
2) I have already tried downloading a few of them, and each time it stops at a different point and windows says the zip file is not valid. Is there another place I can download the correct RUU?
I need to get this done soon as I have a replacement headed this way.

This is the wrong thread for what you need to do and I posted a link to the correct guide in the thread you opened in the development forum that got moved to Q&A.
When you are ready to download the RUU look for the 2.89.651.2 version.

thank you ramjet for the link. my phone is now 99% stock. The 1% is because of the S-OFF part of the bootloader. It shows it is locked so that's good, but I think that means I can't turn S-ON, as it says in the first post. Oh well, hopefully they will accept it like that.

Which RUU do i use for a Sprint Evo 3?
I'd like to follow the instructions here; you pointed me to this OP in another reply when I asked how to go back to stock, but I don't know which one to use. I'm on hboot 1.50.5050 running CM 10.1 on a Sprint Evo 3D, using "Wild for the Night" and I want to go back to 100% stock, S-ON, unrooted, locked.
Is 'WWE' the US version? I know not to use RUUs for other countries but I can't tell which to use from the list.
(I used the jbear wire trick and have Ext4 installed if it makes any difference.)

Maybe your not asking the question correctly. You say you can't see hboot or recovery. Are you trying to get the phone into bootloader? If so pull your battery put backin then hold volume down and power button. This will load into bootloader. If your just attempting to get the phone rooted then yes the tool I posted will root the phone. If your wanting to be able to change some of the permissions then you will need to install superuser. Hopefully this helps. If not maybe someone else can figure out what you are wanting to do......
I cannot see HBOOT or Recovery.
My display is not working correctly for some reason. I have flashed the stock RUU and unlocked the bootloader via the toolkit.
Now I am stuck because I cannot see the recovery screen to actually install the superuser.zip that the toolkit put onto my sdcard.
Do you see what I am saying here?
If I could simply see my HBOOT and recovery screens I would have this phone rooted in 1 minute. I am looking for a way to root manually via adv or another method because I cannot see the recovery screen to know what buttons to click.

I'm no mean an expert here but reading your frustration posts since yesterday, here's my 2 cents, you may want to try it or wait for more suggestion from others
* I've read somewhere that some "Demo" phone came with a "Demo" Rom, which, has no Hboot and Recovery
* Read this post and try to flash an ENG Hboot onto your phone. ENG Hboot for Amaze 4G can be found in the S-Off thread
* After suscessfully flashed ENG HBoot using ADB command, you can then use fastboot to flash back to stock then root normally or using AIO Toolkit again to flash custom Recovery

There is a tool called Android Flasher (Google it) which you can use to flash Hboot onto your phone. As for the Hboot I think you can pulled it out from Stock RUU using 7Zip. Once you have Hboot on the phone, the rest will be easy. I think maybe your phone was a Demo one, which, unfortunately doesn't come with Hboot and Recovery hence the reason it doesn't "update" Hboot and Recovery when flashing RUU
I have already flashed an RUU which completed successfully. Would this stock RUU still not flash HBOOT on my phone?
I am using the phone to type this.
I can power off and then hold vol down and power and the phone will do flash a red notification light up top. If I press down volume once then power it will reboot but I of course only see a.black screen.

No it wont change it. It can only be changed after s-off. I would try to s-off. Jbear gives the option to flash a different hboot at the end of a successful s-off. Then hopefully you can finally get this thing rolling.

It's good to know that you are - at least - still have a Rom on your phone.
I think the reason why you don't have HBoot and recovery when flashing RUU is because what RUU does is just "updating" whatever img that your phone has on it and when it didn't detected Hboot and recovery, it just skipped updating those img. Long story short, I guess you are lacking HBoot and recovery on your phone. We may simply solv this by flashing stock Hboot and recovery onto the phone using tool such as Android Flasher. Again, I'm no expert on this and has never tried this before so take it with a grain of salt and do some research before give it a go, or, you can wait a little longer to get others' opinion. I don't want to be the one who bricked your phone by giving poor advices.
Be patient, at least you have a fully functional phone for now.
I edited this out...
Good luck

There is the command with Hasoon's Amaze tool that will put your phone in the bootloader screen. If your still not able to view if you have tried this then hopefully someone else might have an answer for you as I have no other ideas to get you into the bootloader screen and making it visable. bootloader
reboot
reboot bootloader
power down
the screen starts with the "bootloader" already selected...push volume down
1 time to select reboot
2 times to select reboot bootloader..etc etc...
push power to MAKE/activate the selection.
4ext recovery is touch based and since you cant see you may want to install clockwork mod from the market as you use the volume buttons for this too!
but i dont use it...(but i have! on this phone!! I just dont know how good it works reliable flashing etc)
maybe get a spare sd card and format it so we all know its blank.
then place the right file on the card
so we know its the only file
then you can count the volume clicks to the right choices.
heres hope for you buddy!... my suspicions are as follows.
flashing a different hboot using
the linked hassoons toolkit then CWM then a reboot may return your screen to power on during the times you need it...
BUT BUT BUT!!!!
i do not know if that is advisable or bad or perfectly fine...anyone else know?????

Can someone help me repair this amaze before i bury it

I need some help with a htc amaze that wont boot past htc screen

Why would you want to repair it before you bury it--wouldn't you then be burying a perfectly good phone?
Wanna give us a little more to go on? Since you made it to the HTC screen, let me hunch that you unlocked it, installed a recovery, installed a rom, rebooted and got stuck?
Have you flashed other ROM's successfully?
Which recovery? 4EXT has a "Smart Flash" setting you might have to enable if you are not S-Off.
Did you follow any "how to install a rom" instructions available here on the XDA site, found by doing a search?
The steps outlined numerically in Hasoon's toolkit provide an easy path to upgrade.
Are you coming from Ginger Bread and trying to directly install some other base ROM, such as Ice Cream Sandwich, or Jelly Bean, or KitKat?--That won't work without first upgrading the phone's firmware with the official release.
So look around a little and see if perhaps there is already an answer.

To change the cid you have to s-off if you cant s-off then just flash a recovery and flash a rom according to your firmware

i tried to reflash with ruu , the phone is with wind mobility , said firmware is newer than the ruu im trying to flash with , its at h boot 1.93.002 and s is on and i tried to flash with ota and said that the cid didn't match , i need some kinda flash that's newer than the h boot or help me figure it out please !!!!!!!!!!! oh and my partitions in the internal sd arent showing size and i flashed ext4 recovery but can get anywhere with that either , im at my wits end
Since you're hboot is 1.93.002 I guess your in ics firmware so.. Go to 4ext recovery, go to tools and enable smart flash, then flash ARHD or energy rom and reboot back to recovery through power menu in 4ext recovery. and if you get a message like smart flash or something like that read it and say yes or no (it's been way to long since I last went through this procedure personally but I kinda remember I got a message like that) if you don't get any just simply reboot and you'll have a working device.. If you want to change the cid go through s-off and do it.. There's a guide I'm general section by a senior member called AJ refer to that

Your bootloader was unlocked when you did this?
It's in the general section as (guide for unbranded htc amaze) OR something similar it'll be easy to find its in the very top

you should be able to get it working by just flashing the stock image in fastboot..
you'll need to re-lock your bootloader for this to work.
grab the appropriate stock image for your phone and carrier (must be newer than the bootloader) from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Amaze_4G/ROMs#Stock_ROMs
(i think this one - the ZIP file under wind stock image - is yours: http://d-h.st/7kW)
save it as "PHP85IMG.ZIP" and put it into the root of your microSD card. then hold down POWER and VOL DOWN to boot into fastboot.
follow the instructions to apply the update and reboot.
