You aren't permanently bricked *sigh of relief* lol
Pull out the battery, press and hold Volume down + Power
Once the bootloader shows up, look at the top, if it says **UNLOCKED** you're one step closer
If it says *LOCKED** or *RELOCKED** you need to go to HTCDev.com and unlock the bootloader. Follow the onscreen instructions (but DON'T run the RUU)
MAKE SURE you have the android SDK!! This has fastboot.exe and adb.exe without these you wont get anywhere
Once you're unlocked, you need to flash a recovery. In the development forum, search for a recovery, I use TWRP, and it does just fine
In the bootloader on the phone, click on fastboot
To flash the recovery, put the .img file into the directory where adb and fastboot are.
Then open the command prompt, type in "cd C:\wherever fastboot and adb are" (minus the quotes) then type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" **if your recovery img is not called recovery.img, just rename it tomake things easier**
Once it's done, type "fastboot boot recovery.img"
Now you're into recovery!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808150
download that ROM, put it on the sd card through recovery, and flash it.
Now your phone is all better!!
***this was all assuming you have the sprint evo 3d, if you don't, you have to look in the gsm forum because the rom I linked is cdma ONLY***

You don't need the stock rom, plenty of images to go around, the important thing is to figure out if ur GSM or CDMA, as using the wrong files will lead you to an actual brick (recoverable, but problematic to say the least)
As beneath-a-burning-turtle pointed out you need to find your desired recovery in the appropriate Dev forum, flash it, and use it to flash a stock rom for your device (preferably after wiping cache, dalvik and data).
beneath-a-burning-turtle gave you the link to the CMDA stock rom, the following is a thread with all the stock RUUs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485
from there you need to open up the ruu and pull the appropriate zips out and flash them
Please help im begging !

Dear all,
First of all, this is not my work. This is just a compilation of all the information i have obtained from various threads and the members of XDA. I claim no credit but just wanted to write this for all who wishes to get back to stock ROM (like myself) either for Backup purposes or Warranty cases. Using the HTC method to unlock the bootloader has given me hell such as Wifi error and stuffs. So here it is
Special thanks to Monx for showing me the idea on how to do this.
1. Create a Goldcard (use a spare Micro SD in the phone after formatting with FAT 32) and follow the instructions below
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-make-gold-card-for-htc-desire-hd/
* Instructions may be for Desire HD but it can be used too for our EVO
* Only Procedure 3 is different as all u need to do is use the Goldcard helper
App to copy the Reverse CID to clipboard
2. RELOCK your Bootloader (STEP 14) if its unlocked using HTC method below
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions/page-4
3. Download your original RUU ROM from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485
4. Extract the ROM.ZIP file from the RUU ROM that you downloaded
One method of doing this is here
http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
5. Once you have copied out the ROM.zip file, rename it to PG86IMG.zip
6. Copy this PG86IMG.ZIP file into the Root directory on your GOLDCARD
7. Power down your phone and with the Goldcard still in
8. Go into Bootloader (Hold POWER + Vol Down)
9. Phone will auto detect the PG86IMG.ZIP, extract and then ask permission to flash. Select "YES" ....or course
10. Once its done...you got your STOCK ROM back. However your bootloader will still show "RELOCKED"
Buy me a COKE or a mere THANKS if you find this useful
Thanks for the great tutorial

Do you have list of CID? I think its possible to change, lets say for example, from UK CID to GER CID to be able to get OTA updates and other things.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think goldcarding is required for this.
Maybe just a fastboot command?
fastboot oem writecid 11111111

So did you retry Revolutionary to see if its reversible?
Another suggestion is to just run the RUU to see what happens
I think that if you flash the RUU, then you have S-ON (it shows LOCKED), but if i remember well, it shows also revolutionary in the recovery. I did that almost a month ago, so i cant remember only if it shows revolutionary or not. For the S-ON (Locked) i am sure

I have a secondary Evo 3D on my account that recently took a crap. My friend that was using it took the OTA update and it caused it to be updated to 2.17 but also HBOOT 1.5. So from there I unlocked it via HTC unlock method and installed SupraROM. I don't know the exact details but the phone became stuck in an infinite reboot mode. I tried to do a wipe and install the latest MeanROM but when it would boot the battery indicator would show a red triangle with an exclamation point and reboot within 10 seconds. I swapped batteries with a working 3D so I know it's not the battery. I tried downloading a stock 2.17 rom PG86IMG but it won't recognize or install in bootloader or TWRP (I've tried multiple zips). In bootloader it still shows S-ON and then ***UNLOCKED*** in pink up top.
What would be the best way to recover this phone back to 100% stock? Is it bricked or can it be fixed?
You will have to re lock the bootloader first. From fastboot, type "fastboot oem lock"
After the bootloader is re locked, it will allow the PG86IMG.zip to update the phone

I second this!
Can you go back to STOCK without having to plugin your phone to PC? because my device cannot be recognized!
If you're Hboot 1.50, you need the pc to recognize the phone to use fastboot.
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to flash kernels/boot.img files that are part of ROMs.
(There is a way to use FlashImage app for the kernel beforehand if the phone will boot to the OS).
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to format/restore a backup (or the kernel won't get loaded).
You must use the fastboot command to "relock" your phone.
You must "relock" your phone to run the stock RUU.exe's and stock RUU.zip's (PG86IMG.zip).
If you can't get the pc to recognize the phone, try a different PC and especially try SEVERAL usb cables as these tend to go bad.
Additional "Detail" info that may help is in the "guide" in my signature.

first you need to make sure youre still unlocked , then the file i gave you, copy that to your computer in the same folder as your fastboot.exe file and then on your phone hold the vol down button and press power to get to your HBOOT screen... the list of options there select the first one, which says fastboot, by pressing the power button once, it will change screens and give you different options.... at this point you connect your data cable to your phone and you should see it say fastboot and then USB should appear once you plug it in... once you do that you open up a ms-dos screen or a terminal screen and change over to the fastboot folder , when youre there type in this
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
recovery_signed.img is the file i sent you , you may have renamed it but the screen will say its sending it then writing it... if successfulk youll see it say "ok" then from there you reboot your phone and youll have the stock recovery back.... if youre going to return the phone for warrenty reasons be sure to relock the bootloader as well...

Hello, everyone. I am going to get right to it. I think mI messed up my wife's phone. Since I can still get into the bootloader, I believe there is a chance to un-mess it.
I updated the bootloader on my wife's HTC EVO 3D from 1.4 S-off to 1.58.5858 S-off. Her phone is running a gingerbread ROM and still using the 2.17 base. Stupid move, I'm sure. I downloaded a Jupuonutbear 1.58 hboot, dropped it in the root of her SD card, named it PG86IMG.zip, and booted into the bootloader.
Now, all I get is a bootloop. Every time I try to start her phone.
I am a stupid, stupid man.
Hopefully you all can help me put this right, and after that, maybe give me some directions on how to PROPERLY go about updating her phone.
First, Let me tell you what it says when I boot into the bootloader:
=Juopunutbear=
SHOOTER XC SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.58.5858
RADIO-0.97.10.350
eMMC-boot
May 17, 2012, 15:06:44
Then the regular hboot menu, etc.
My thinking is that I can pull her SD card, delete PG86IMG.zip, and drop a 1.4 hboot in there, naming it PG86IMG.zip. Then boot to bootloader, and problem solved. Is this correct, or does anyone have a better idea?
Thanks for reading. Sorry for the minimalist tone, I really wanted to craft a wordier, funnier post, but in this case I figured I'd better just stick with the facts. Hope somebody out there can help me.
You got it. Just put 1.4 back on there.
This should be in q&a, not developement.
People. Save it. This thread isn't going to need 10 post telling the op he posted in the wrong forum. Report & move on.
To answer your question. You just need to flash the 1.50.5050 jb boot loader
To enter right into recovery use the command below.
adb reboot-recovery
This will skip the boot loader from reading your SD card .

OK, no re-post then. Well, I tried flashing a boot.img from the bootloader, but it didn't read right. On the plus side, I have access to recovery thru the bootloader now. So, I am thinking, try another 1.4 boot.img(anybody have a link?), or try to update the rest(from GB to ICS, radios, etc., is that even possible? If so, does anybody have any links?). Common sense, of course, dictates that I try to get it back to 1.4, then start a Q&A thread in the PROPER subforum about upgrading her phone.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Also: THANK YOU. SINCERELY.

Thank you, I have dropped the hboot 1.4 onto the SD card, renamed it PG86IMG.zip, but when I boot into the bootloader, it just says:
No image or wrong image!
Then goes back to the bootloader menu. I am using the version with Revolutionary S-off, because my wife's phone was and is s-off. Any suggestions?
As I said, it would seem some progress has been made, as I now seem to have access to recovery, but I am stumped as to where I should go from here......
I'm guessing you know simple fast boot commands.
So here's a quick way to flash bootloaders. First remove the PG86IMG.zip file from you're SD card.
Place the pg86img.zip file in your fastboot directory. So where you would keep your IMG files for flashing.
Next. Place your bootloader in fastboot USB.
Follow the commands in order .
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip PG86IMG.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now enter recovery clear cache & reboot device.

Strange..
Make sure everything matches, even CAPS.
so if the file is PG86IMG.zip you will type it as
Code:
fastboot flash zip PG86IMG.zip
Not fastboot flash zip pg86img.zip if that doesnt work try the next option below.
download this bootloader. (hboot 1.04)
download.
Place is in your Android folder where fastboot is located. dont rename the file and use the command below.
Code:
fastboot flash zip hboot.zip
Trying it now.....
Okay, that proceeded as you said. Device has rebooted, and is functional. Had to reload a couple of widgets.
You, sir, are a lifesaver, and I have thanked you.
Any forseeable problems to her being 1.04 hboot instead of 1.4? She is running CleanROM Reborn 1.1...has been since she got the phone a year ago.....
And, yeah, I typed it caps and all, an exact copy. Dunno why it wouldn't flash.... but the 1.04 did....

Why would you want to repair it before you bury it--wouldn't you then be burying a perfectly good phone?
Wanna give us a little more to go on? Since you made it to the HTC screen, let me hunch that you unlocked it, installed a recovery, installed a rom, rebooted and got stuck?
Have you flashed other ROM's successfully?
Which recovery? 4EXT has a "Smart Flash" setting you might have to enable if you are not S-Off.
Did you follow any "how to install a rom" instructions available here on the XDA site, found by doing a search?
The steps outlined numerically in Hasoon's toolkit provide an easy path to upgrade.
Are you coming from Ginger Bread and trying to directly install some other base ROM, such as Ice Cream Sandwich, or Jelly Bean, or KitKat?--That won't work without first upgrading the phone's firmware with the official release.
So look around a little and see if perhaps there is already an answer.

Your bootloader was unlocked when you did this?
It's in the general section as (guide for unbranded htc amaze) OR something similar it'll be easy to find its in the very top

you should be able to get it working by just flashing the stock image in fastboot..
you'll need to re-lock your bootloader for this to work.
grab the appropriate stock image for your phone and carrier (must be newer than the bootloader) from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Amaze_4G/ROMs#Stock_ROMs
(i think this one - the ZIP file under wind stock image - is yours: http://d-h.st/7kW)
save it as "PHP85IMG.ZIP" and put it into the root of your microSD card. then hold down POWER and VOL DOWN to boot into fastboot.
follow the instructions to apply the update and reboot.
