Make use of this thread for the others, lol.
How did you fix it?
Re-partitioned it back to fat or?
Never tried that option in recovery, does it creates ext?
Well i put the card in nokia phone - the old ones and formatted it there
Any link on how to partition the card right the next time ?
I searched a lot and im still confused
Well I'm searching which format is that sd-ext partition, but can't find. Maybe ext3, or ext4.
Thing is that windows or our phones can't see ext partitions without additional drivers, or custom kernels. Last one is strange to me as android is linux, and ext format came from linux.
Anw, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Once I tried to create 1GB ext3(or4 can't remember) partition and rest of my sd card leave in FAT. But windows didn't read it, didn't have time to research, so I format it back to FAT.
You say you were using SE TWEAKED, but which kernel you used? stock?
Iv only on Neo getting this to work once main fat 32 /3 rest of time PC can't read card
To much fk on for little change

Hi i have searched and cant find a clear guide, I have a 8 gig memory card and want to install apps to it. I can easily set a 3.8gig fat32 and 3.9gig etx3 partition but form this point on im lost!!
cheers
delete i figured it
IMHO, 3.9 gig as an EXT3 partition is way too big. It won't hurt of course, but it is rather a waste of space that could be better employed elsewhere.
512mb should be more than enough - indeed most Apps2SD guides I've seen seem to recommend this amount.

Dave

Where? I'm lost yet...
sorry
I figured out where i was going wrong, I used the recovery image to format and part the 2gig that came with it and realised in gparted on linux that it had the LBA flag so i re done it, 6gig fat32 LBA, 1.4gig ext2 and 100meg swap when i booted the phone i then mounted the ext partition and it had already created a apps folder and moved stuff over!! This modaco rom is good!!
Here's a simple guide/solution if anyone who have problems with their microsdcard
1.Blank Sdcard notification
If u have partition on ur sdcard and u switch from 2.1 to 2.2, u need to reformat the card. Because 2.2 does not need the 2nd partition.
When u had partition your sdcard on 2.1 rom and u get blank notification, please do a reboot. it will eliminate the meassge.
ps:i do recommend using ext2 as 2nd partition and use link2sd as u can manually select the apps, dalvik-cache files and the libs files
2.Unrecognised, Failed to read sdcard, damage sdcard and etc
Required a laptop/computer assistance
Please try this method before you try anything else. usually this will solve all the problem you facing
1.Go to my computer and right click on your sdcard icon
2.Select properties and then click on the Tools tab
3.Click on error checking/check now
4.Remember to tick on the automatic fix and then click start
this will required 10 to 20 minute, depending on the size of your sdcard.
3.Last resort
Format your sdcard using your x10 or pc.
if both method cant be using, re-partition your sdcard using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 6.0. set it as primary and using FAT32
Sdcard reading and writing speed slow?
For non-rooted and rooted user
Mount your sdcard from your pc and use this Defraggler and defrag your sdcard. credit to 28spawn
For rooted user only
go to this thread increase SD card performance(new Flashable zips), credit to KInG GaME
PS:This troubleshooting method does not 100% will work but since it works for me most of the time, so i wanted to share out. Hope I wont offend anyone.
Mod, if this thread is useless, please delete it and sorry for the trouble.
Thanks for the thread. Tried it on my sd card because it shows blank sd card after I partitioned it into fat32 and ext3 for miui cobrato rom but it didn't work. Nice share anyway.
opps.. thanks for replying n reminding me. i forget to put tis. after u partition your card, did u reboot? btw, there no nd to do partition for 2.2 onwards

Nope, I only put in the partitioned sd card into the phone and started it. I partitioned using parted magic. But for MIUI roms, it's needed to partition into ext3 for the ap2sd+ to work.
same problem here. i just can't seem to get the sd card to work after flashing custom 2.2 or 2.3 roms. but the sd card work just fine on any custom 2.1 roms.
i'm currently on ThGo v1.5.5e. this rom works great.
I'm using EWjet 2.3.4x. I plugged the sdcard into my pc, used mini partition tool to reduce the size of fat32 partition and making 800mb of unallocated space at the end of disk. Then I created a new partition (primary ext3) of 800mb, applied and removed the sdcard from pc.
When I plug it on x10 it says that my sdcard is empty.
I already tried to reboot twice and it keeping saying that is empty.
Link2SD says that I don't have a second partition, but I created a 800mb ext3 partition.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

sorry for late reply. i tot this thread is dead. thinking wanna ask mod to delete it
well, i tried formating it to fat32 through windows and it worked. but what boggles me is that only some 2.3 roms can detect my sd card. thgo and ewjet works just fine. any miui roms and others doesn't seem to find the sd card. it just says sd card not present or unmounted sd card.
well, i had never tried using any miui rom b4 but from what i read, its best after flashing the miui rom, it it recommended to format the sdcard
1. About Swap
I've used latest nAa kernel and minicm7 for a while, but something bugs me..
It says that nAa kernel has "Swap" function. CUrious, I tried several methods.
Firstly, I tried to use swapper from android market. Seems like it's no use, since typing "free" on terminal emulator shows "0" for swapping (swap data is created already on my SD card). Not working, I uninstalled it.
Then, somebody told me to use swapper 2 since it's working nicely on him. Strangely enough, my market said it's not compatible with my phone.
Third, I tried to create a linux swap file on my SD card with 200 MB size using partition manager. And my phone runs lag like hell. So, I finally delete the partition again and wipe factory reset etc.
My question is : How do I turn swap things on ?
2. About Ext4
Until recently (before I created linux swap partition on my SD card and finally erased it again), I never create an ext4 partition on my SD card. Now, I'm trying to use it. What is the difference between using an ext4 partition and not ?
Thank you very much for your answer

Here's the problem.
Apps2SD
SD swap files
SD cache files
All this adds up in total bandwidth use.
And then the speeds when reading and writing from the card are not really up to the task.
Even my Big x10i was not up to the task with a class 8 SD
The best would be for developers to partition a small piece of 'internal' storage to allow for a swap file.

If you have been having issue with exfat card even after formatting it to fat32 this is probably the solution for you
The 64gb exfat card i have never worked on custom roms no matter what software i used to format it to fat32.
But finally it worked with this one software, Just make sure you follow the instruction correctly.
http://software-files-a.cnet.com/s/...&pid=12572695&psid=10863346&&fileName=epm.exe
First use easeus to delete the partion in 64 gb card.
then Click Start menu, select Run and enter diskmgmt.msc
You need to find the disk with unallocated space. Right click on it and select "New Partition" and follow these steps, clicking "Next"
Enter the maximum size for the Partition Size
Choose assign a drive letter. I used F:
Select "Do not Format this partition"
Click Finish
Now you have a drive letter, this is what we will pass to the formatter
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/download/fat32format.zip
Now download a copy of fat32format. Extract the EXE file to C:\
Click Start->Run and enter cmd (as admin)
type this - C:\fat32format f:
enter y to continue
Now the sd card should work on phone.

An easier alternative which doesn't require CMD or the use of multiple tools is HP Usb Format Utility:

If it works then sure. i already used 3 recommended softwares all failed so i dont know if this will work.
Thanks for this guide
I always format and re-partition in Linux ...
I always format and re-partition in Linux ... and currently all my large microSD cards have been re-partitioned with the following layout:
- free space (4 MB on 32GB, 16 MB on 64GB - since that's how those came from factory )
- main partition (primary partition 1 - I format that as Fat32 in Linux but then I go to Win7 and re-format to exFat; exFat works perfectly in Android 4.x from Samsung (and good mods) and the CWM recovery from CrisKelo ROM can work just perfectly with exFat when doing backup/restore; other (even newer) CWM versions/alternatives might NOT be OK with exFAT or stuff over 32GB!
- 512 MB Linux swap (primary partition 2) - this gets mounted by special mods that give the kernel virtual memory
- free space at the end (at least 4 MB on 32GB, at least 16 MB on 64GB)!
The only drawback is that at this moment there is no program (on PC or phone) that can resize exFAT - so you need to reformat! That is in contrast to NTFS / FAT32 / ext2 / ext3 / ext4 - which can all be resized perfectly - and IMHO NTFS could be a better option that exFAT (for journaling, even if I do not write that much anyway), but unfortunately there is no serious support for it on CWM; ext3/ext4 could also be even better from the Linux standpoint (but not for the usual Windows user that might have problems reading it) - but again is (surprisingly) not so supported by either CWM nor most ROMs
Just got new Sandisk 64GB cards and was having a heck of a time getting them to play nice with Paranoid Android, this guide was simple, painless and most of all, effective. Thank you much for posting this information.
Works with cyanogenmod nightly 2013-02-17 and ubuntu
So I have tried it out and it worked.

i have no idea the swap system, as stock, it already has driver for ex fat but since you changed some stuff it might have ruined that driver.
try your card on another phone with stock rom and same android version. if it works then you dont need to change sd card format, just reinstall ROM on your phone.

Hi, new guy with english problems here, be gentle
So basically I lost access to any kind of storage on my SGS2 running CM10.1. Here's what happened. I was using internal and sd for a long time, then, as I needed my SDHC elsewhere i removed it. Nothing was lost as all data was stored internally. BUT. After formatting SD in FAT32 and putting it back everything crashed. Apps are refusing to work, demanding an SD card. Files Manager says that folder was lost. All of them. First thing I wanted to do was to flash CM once again, a newer NB but my PC does not read internal storage either, and putting it in sd doesn't do me any good as cwm doesn't see it also. CM can access internal, so i flashed the same version of CM once again - the only one i got there. Nothing changed. I'm a bit lost and seek any advice
U checked if u really format it with Fat32?

Sure. Also I formatted it with SDFormatter, thanks to this CWM can mount it and format by itself, but OS does not respond anyway
