looking a little more closely and reading a bit more i found these
XWLA4
Android 2.3.6
There is no carrier branding
This package has: PDA: XWLA4| Modem/phone: XXKI3| CSC: XEUKH2
Download: Download
XWLA4 Stock Kernel: Download
Password: [email protected]
are these correct for my UK sg2 ?

Do you know how to reset the jig and remove the yellow triangle? its pointless resetting it back to gingerbread if you dont already know how to do this as the warranty will still be voided and noticable.
try samfirmware.com the links seem to still work for me

i know how to get rid of the yellow triangle and ill research resetting the jig i just needed to know if this rom+kernal were UK compatible i only ask because i thought XX was the only code not XW

Both XX and XW are UK Roms:
XX---> Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom
XW---> Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Nordic, Spain, United Kingdom
As for which Rom you need ... As far as I know the last unbranded version to be released through kies was 2.3.5, I don't think 2.3.6 was ever released. Now I'm not 100% on this as i moved away from kies updates a while ago, so if anyone else knows better then feel free to correct me.
I think the last official kies release was XXKI3 ...
http://androidadvices.com/galaxy-ii-official-235-update-kies/
You can find the ROM here ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23064622&postcount=4
Flash the wipe version which will give you a fresh clean install.
Once you've flashed it, you might want to plug the phone into Kies and double check that it picks it up and it should tell you if that's the latest version or not. If not, then it should prompt you to update to the latest version through Kies.
Hope this helps.

cheers for the fast replies and the info but the links are dead for that rom any other suggestions please
NVR mind found some on samfirmware.com
cheers guys hopefully sorted now

[Q] Debranding, confused which firmware to use

I bought a SGII off ebay and after a few hours of reading I'm totally confused about how to debrand the phone. The original owner received the phone from Vodafone Ireland and rooted it to unlock it. Below are the phone specs
Android- 2.3.3
Baseband version- I9100BUKG1
Kernel-2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE2-CL187606 root-DELL101#2
Build- GINGERBREAD.BUKG2
I just want to get rid of all the vodafone software and other bloatware. Im not interested in rooting the phone.
From my research I should go for the latest XEU firmware (Im in Malta, Europe) which is XWKF3
GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKF3_I9100XXKE7_I9100XEUKD1
Is this correct? It seems older than what I have.. I dont mind, like I said I just want to debrand without ending up bricking the device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks JJEgan, and just to confirm, the only downside to using these Franenstein builds is that I cannot use Kies to upgrade the firmware?
I just installed the firmware below as advised but I'm still seeing all the Vodafone bloatware. Everything went perfectly s described in the official thread. Did I do something wrong?
Factory reset your phone .
Phone should now be
PDA:XXKG6| Baseband : XXKG6| CSC:XEUKD1

[Q] Basebands, Modems, and a Whole Lot of Confusion...

Hi guys,
I originally held off posting this question for a few days, as I figured I should be able to find the answer somewhere withing the forums, and didn't want to bother anyone by making a new thread, but after three days, I've come to the end of it all, and am still as confused as ever, so here goes nothing...
Currently, I'm running the official MIUI ROM, on the Optus network in Australia.
My phone originally shipped with the XWKG1 baseband.
I've since moved to MIUI, and it now says my baseband version is XXKF3.
All this is doing my head in...
For example, what's the difference between XX, and XW? I read in Intratech's thread that the difference is:
XX---> Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom
XW---> Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Nordic, Spain, United Kingdom
Click to collapse
But this just confused me more
No where does it say Australia? I've had people tell me that you can flash any baseband/modem, so long as it's for the I9100, and that KI3 is the best to use (but again, do I use XWKI3, or XXKI3?), and that makes me a little more hopeful...
But I've also seen, for example, KI3 used to refer to a lot... e.g.:
XXKI3
Android 2.3.5
This original (unmodified) Wipe Package with new bootloader has: PDA: XXKI3| Modem/phone: XXKI3| CSC: OXAKI3
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/NJV6PR87Y3
These packages have the new bootloader removed and repacked with the old ones so you can safely reset the binary counter with a Jig.
This Frankenstein™ Non-Wipe package has: PDA: XXKI3| Modem/phone: XXKI3| CSC: XEUKD1
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/7JTWS2E37R
XXKI3 Stock Kernel:http://www.multiupload.com/WDOO81L5H6
Password: [email protected]
Click to collapse
So, to summarize, what is the difference between XX and XW? Is it just the country? And, is it a full firmware, or can I flash it over the top of MIUI, and keep everything? (same question goes for CSC).
I know it's a lot to ask, and it probably had been covered somewhere else, but I just don't know where else to look
Really, all I'm looking for is the right (latest or fastest) baseband/modem to flash, and the right CSC as well...
Thanks for your time,
screamworks.
First of all wrong section. Shoud have posted in QA. Secondly do you have any problems with the modem your useing right now? Or why do you want to change it. Most of us only go back to stock or country specific modems or csc-s for warranty purposes. If you think KI3 modem might be better for you just flash it. Only the modem not the whole rom. If your looking for answers try the miui thread.
I know using the search sometimes is a pain especially on xda cause it has such a large amount of threads but remember you posted another one that probably has been answered elsewhere.

I guess you haven't heard? That's because megaupload has been shut down. In most of whatever mysterious posts you're talking about, the later posts in that thread will probably note that the devs whose work was hosted on shut down sites like megaupload are looking for other hosting sites to upload their files to.
You'll have to be patient.
Sounds like we're in the same boat @sout13 :-/
My Swype expired on my current ROM so I am desperate for any valid ROM atm.... as long as it's stable and compatible with South Africa.
Q: Any idea where I can any valid ROM ... even a custom one? Needs to be Gingerbread.

PDA: I9100 XWKF3
PHONE: I9100 XX KE7
CSC: I9100XEUKD1

just watch out for sammobile.com firmwares. they heve new bootloaders and if you flash these firmwares you then have to flash an old bootloader to reset binary counter and get rid of the yellow triangle.

Help needed, strange one!

Hi guys
I've been looking to update my galaxy s2 to ICS for a while now but it doesn't seem to respond to ANYTHING i've read on forums so far.
It was broken (screen) so has been away for repair.
Now if i try to update OTA it seems fine until reboot then stops at 14% and comes up failed. Kies also says my device cannot be updated using kies?
I'm still on gingerbread 2.3.3!
Kies also wont backup my data telling me there's not enough free space on the PC when there is plenty.
I have read ALOT on this but am now completely out of ideas, any help what to do from here would be fantastic!
Here's some info from about phone phone:
Baseband: I1900XXKE4
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I1900XWKE1-CL181974
[email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKE1
Here's info from *#1234#
PDA: I1900XWKE1
PHONE: I1900XXKE4
CSC: I1900XEUKD1
Any help would be really appreaciated as it seems from searching no-one else actually has the same info on their phone as me which i find strange.
contacts are already backuped in your google account or you can try this software http://www.moborobo.com/
For Firmware Go To samfirmware.com Download the firmware from there and flash with odin search the forum how to flash with odin..

Thanks very much nitinvaid, i'll try that.
I already have odin just wasn't sure which fw to flash to it, definitely dont want to brick it as it's still under warranty.
I'm not wanting spoonfed or anything but should it be obvious which firmware i should be using? is it official samsung fw?
Thanks again

Pretty simple actually! Just got to sammobile.com, make an id and log in. In the "Firmwares" section, you will be able to download your country's/carrier's latest official firmware. Download the file, unzip and flash via Odin.
And do not worry about the warranty, the firmwares on Sammobile are official firmware. Flashing them will not void your warranty, unless you root..!
Best of luck...!
Sorry but one more question, might sound easy to you guys but all these letters and numbers mean nothing to me

Yes, you can. Just get a "How to update to ICS via odin" tutorial on the internet (it's everywhere) and follow it properly, there's no mistake
Don't forget to close Kies and the KiesTrayAgent (with task manager) before flashing with odin.

If you are going to flash the XWLPT firmware be careful as it contains the dreaded "hard brick bug" I would suggest flashing a custom Kernel straight away ie Siyah Kernel. As this will remove the bug

Install a custom Rom and Kernel. You will not go back to stock!! Root your phone first. Backup your stock rom with CWM in case something happens. I would do this before using any of the solutions that previous comments have given you. Some times even if you are following the right instructions you will get a soft brick. Its best to have everything backed up before attempting any updates of Roms. There is so many tutorials out there to do this. This would be the easiest solution and also the best solution to your problem. Everybody too have seemed to have moved to Jelly Bean 4.1 not ICS 4.0.3/4.0.4. My opinion i prefer Jelly Bean than ICS. Look into rooting, installing custom Roms and Kernels.

[Q] New Zealand CSC Question

Hey guys,
I have a New Zealand Samsung S3 GT-I9300.
It's got no branding on the phone, no logos, no logos on startup etc and I didn't buy it from a Telecom, 2 Degrees, or Vodafone store so I assume its unlocked. I bought if from an electronic store called **** Smith.
It's on the Telecom network - just chucked in my Telecom SIM.
OS - 4.0.4
AP - 19300XXALF2
CP - 19300XXLF2
CSC - 19300NZCALF1
At the moment when I plug the phone into Kies, it gives me the message "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to firmware via Kies".
After doing some research and troubleshooting steps like making sure Kies is up to date, reinstalling drivers etc I saw that some people said that if your CSC is wrong Kies won't upgrade your phone.
I realised that Jellybean hasn't been released for NZ yet but I figure that Kies should be saying something along the line of 'You have the latest firmware..' instead of saying its not supported.
So I was just wondering if my CSC looks fine for an unlocked NZ S3.
Let me know if you need any more information.
Cheers
My S3 is unlocked from Parallel on Vodafone NZ had the same CSC with no problems. I wouldn't worry about it much you can always flash via Odin.
If you are worried about it, flash the stock rom via Odin and use the BTU CSC that's what I've done, I have had no issues with it at all, and it's updated itself all the way up to 4.1.1 OTA with no problem.
Also, have you rooted the phone? If so it can report that you are unable to update via Kies

Thanks for your reply and advice
My phone isn't rooted.
BTU is UK right?
Couldn't I just change the CSC instead of flashing another ROM?
This will void warranty right? Don't really mind but just wondering out of curiosity.
Cheers
Mine isn't rooted either. You don't need to be in order to install the rom through Odin.
BTU is in fact UK
You can try to change the CSC first and see if that works, keep in mind it's going to wipe your phone when you do so.
It should not void the warranty, as you will still be using a default stock official rom, most people load the stock official when sending it in for repair work
By the way, the stock rom I used was the one listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610 from May 13th :
I9300XXALE8 Download (Thanks To SamMobile!)
Base Firmware: I9300XXALE8 (4.0.4)
Region Europe
Country: United Kingdom
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 13 May 2012
Modem: XXLE8
CSC: OXAALE8
Change List: 554452
I then accepted OTA updates on the phone directly to get it up to the current rom

I'll give that a go.

Just by coincidence my phone updated to Jellybean 4.1.1 via OTA a few days ago without me having to flash another stock ROM on it.
Also, Kies now reports that I have the latest firmware.
Looks like all I had to do was be a bit more patient.
Everything seems to be in order now.
Cheers for your help anyway guys.
