Hey guys,
I´ve got some problems with my Archos 101 and Urukdroid. I´ve got a mobile Flatrate for my Phone and want to use it with my Tablet. My Phone is a good old Nokia E63, so there shouldn´t be any tethering limitations.
If I use this combination on the original Archos OS it works fine. I can pair over Bluetooth and after clicking trouth it loads all necessary Information from my Simcard. After it I can surf throuth the Net.
If I try the same under Urukdroid it cant read the Information from the Simcard. If I put the information such as APN manually it hangs sometimes. But even if I put all the Information in it says its not possible to connect.
So my question is: Is there a possibility to copy all necessary Connect Information from the original Archos OS to Urukdroid to Connect over my E63? Or is there any other possybility?
MY Data:
Archos 101 latest Archos OS
Nokia E63 latest Firmware
Urukdroid 1.6
Thanks a lot!
You can use your E63 as a wifi hotspot. Try JoikuSpot there is a free version although you can not password protect your connection with the free version.

Hi and thanks for reply!
I´ve testet Jokispot some time ago. the Problem is, that it makes a Ad-Hoc connection. The Archos 101 runs Android 2.3. This version can´t handle this kind of connection. So this combination won´t run for me.
Do you have any other Idea?
Thanks for helping
I thought I read Urukdroid worked with adhoc connections, might be worth looking into. Im afraid I don't use Urukdroid so I can't test.

it works!!!
Thanks for this little Information
Ad-Hoc is supportet by Urukdroid, but not with the Normal Wlan Manager. After Reading some things in the web it was logical how it works.
So:
1 Start up JoikuSpot
2 Enable WPA in Urukconfig
3 finaly: Start up WIFI Manager on Urukdroid and find the E63
4 Start Browsing the Internet in my garden
Great!

Hi, Dexter and all other fans,
I have installed a WIFI AP application on my 3G phone and I 'm trying to use Folio100 to connect to Internet through that. But I always can not find the WIFI hot-spot on the list. And then I checked Dexter's blog and found this problem has already been fixed in November. I have installed the latest ROM(1.3d) for my Folio and I have no idea why it still doesn't work. Anyone can give any comments?
Thanks in advance
BR

Hi,
the reason must be your phone or the app on the phone. My Folio with FolioMod 1.3d is connecting WLAN very well to the "Android AP", provided from my Dell Streak (Froyo). Even with WPA2-PSK. No Problems at all.
Is the SSID (Broadcast) from your phone-hotspot visible?
regards
The wifi suplicant checker is active? (inside Folio widget menu).

Hi,
Thanks for your info, it was strange that it was not visible from Folio100 but it was visible from my laptop... That 's why I though it is the problem of Folio100.
Any other tricks when setting up WIFI AP from phone? BTW my phone is Nokia N900. The software is called 'Mobile Hotspot'.

it has been reported many times before. it has to do with the encryption of the wifi. avoid wep if u can, and place on either wpa /wpa2 encryption.
Hi, I own an Acer DX900 dual sim WM6.1. I've bought a chinese tablet with android 2.1 installed. I use WMwifirouter 2.0 trial to connect to internet, but I can't use the wifi connection, because Android 2.1 doesn't recognize an ad-hoc IBSS protocol, so i have to use the usb connection.
I'd like to know if you know any free software to share internet connection, via usb, between a WM phone and a tablet instead of WMWifirouter, i really would prefer a free software.
Thank you
Sorry for my bad english!
Dear all,
Hope someone can give me some advise on my WIFI setting on Archos 101. I've no problem to connect my TPlink wireless router at home for internet surfing but never got succeed to connect to a sharing from iphone or WM device using WMwifirouter program (samsung i908/HTC tytn). I can never identify the SSID in the wireless searching list on my 101.
Can someone tell me is it an Android know issue or it's just for Archos?
My Archos 101 android version is 2.2 / 2.1.04
i908 WM 6.1
HTC tytn WM 6.0

isssue is that the archos doesn't see ad-hoc connections.
you have to use bluetooth tethering on the wm device. i do it all the time
Can't get through it with bluetooth also.
Dear godashram, thank for sharing but I still can't get it done by BT. I started the 3G to BT function on the WMwifirouter program. The BT is on but can be detected by my Archos 101 while I could find out other BT device in the open area. Don't know if you could provide me more details on setting it up. thanks.
well, 1st, instead of wmwifirouter, do any of your wm phones have the internet connect sharing? either available or hidden (ics.exe, intshr.exe etc in the windows directory?)
Has anyone been able to successfully able to tether their bb using pdanet (bluetooth) with the g tab and could please either point me to the right thread or tell me how this can be done.
Thanks
Tethering
I looked for a similar tethering question for some time. Unfortunately there isn't any software to be found that runs on android that points the net connection out to another device (like PDAnet). PDA assumes the Android device is the 3g/4g server not the client.
I was not able to find a workable method for this.
Sorry but thought I would share.
PDA Net
PDA Net now has a beta version of the software for use with tablets. I tried it on my gtab (running Calkulins ROM) and it was able to identify and pair with my Droid via bluetooth, however I couldn't get the tablet to connect to the internet through the connection. Anyone have any success with this?
It takes several tries before I can get it to connect, pairing is no problem. However once it does connect what's odd is that the connection only works thru the stock web browser, it will not work on any other browser nor the market. Strange.
I believe the beta 2 release of pdanet tablet will have the ability to tether with a bb.

Hi All,
I running the stock wm6.5 HD2 rom from t-mobile.
I have just bought a Arnova 10 G2 (cheap from hmv) and would like to use my phone wi-fi hotspot to get online. The problem I have is, the tablet does not recognise WEP encryption.
Can someone tell me the easiest way I can get online using my phone?
I have done several searches and a few people discuss similar issues and talk about writing and adding code. I do not know how to do this as I'm a middle aged fat bloke with no understanding of such things.
I have read a lot about flashing the phone to make it android, would this help or is there a simpler way?
Thanks in advance
CJ
Problem is not your WM6.5 HD2.
Problem is Android has ****e standard connectivity & does not have ad-hoc support as standard.
You will have to find an ad-hoc fix for the Tablet.
WM6.5 conectivity for tethering in both directions is faultless & can be achieved via wifi/BT/USB

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure how to find a ad-hoc fix for the tablet. I've looked for wi-fi apps to find one that will recognise WEP w-fi.
there are a few out there but they find the phone but do not allow connection. as when you try to connect it takes you back to the tablet software.
thanks again for your help.
i have the same problem ... HD2 WM.6.5 and ARCHOS 70 INTERNET
do you found a solution??

The only way I've found is to replace the wpa supplicant file, and it will require root access. I can't seem to attach files from my View. I got the file in the Dell Streak forum - search for wpa_supplicant. The one I have is for gb.
Sent from my HTC View in LALA land.
EDIT: OK, back on my PC, and here is the thread with the file:

Hello, I've got the same tablet and tethering works with my htchd2. Wifi routing does not work, I was not able to create a PAN network with my HTC HD2, and was not able to see a DUN network on my tablet. (or is it the other way round ?)
But tethering, using my 3G connection works. I sometimes need to reboot the tablet.
