Just a quick note to all new TyTn / M3100 / Vario II / V1605 owners.
I, like you guys, need to buy a MicroSD memory card
I was looking at ebay to buy one as I have bought memory cards before for good prices, but found amazon are actually cheaper than ebay!
1GB cards on ebay are going for around £26-£30 plus £6 postage.
Just bought one from amazon (Sandisk) for £23.59 including supersaver delivery.
Just though this might help someone save a few quid!
Markee
a place called mobymemory.com also have them for the £25 but they have 2gb ones in for £62!
Anyone else seen a uk supplier (non ebay) carring 2gb micro SD's yet for less than £62?
Best price I've seen (£52.88 inc vat), but I've never used the supplier and they are not currently in stock:
http://www.memorycardzoo.co.uk/799/Sandisk/Micro-SD/2GB/froogle/&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=cpc
personally I'm getting up and running with a 1Gb card, and then seeing how the prices settle in a couple of months.
You can get a 2gb card herehttp://www.totallymobile.co.uk/basket.php?action=add&prod=SDSDQ-2048-E10M for £52.49 delivered.
Best price i've seen out of ebay yet!

By the time you've added delivery (€8,90 within germany, and €12,40 within the EU) these are relatively unremarkeable prices.
Around about £22/£23 delivered seems to be the going budget price for a 1Gb microSD.

But the offers you can find in Geizhals are not yet on stock anywhere.
BTW:
Who of you already uses a 2GB MicroSD Card in a TyTN ?
I'd be really curious whether it works or not and if so whether it works well.
There is a Taiwanes (?) manufacturer, who already ships 4 GB *MINI* SD Cards (note: MINI not Micro).
I could well use it in my Qtek 8300 Smartphone (which I often also use as an alternative to a USB stick).
Yet there is a report on the net of someone who has ordered it and found it just shows 2GB on the 8300, but 4GB in a card reader.
So the card is ok, but cannot be read by the mobile !
Problem is that the built-in card reader as well as the driver file has to be able to cope with these large memory cards.
With the normal (full-size) SD Cards there seem to be a spec-barrier at 2GB. There are 4GB cards that can be read in some but not all devices. In most of the devices, which can read them it lasts much longer to access the file directory (e.g. in my Casio Exilim cam :-(
I don't know anything (neither do I have trusted feedback) about the compatibility of 2GB MicroSD cards in PDAs (not to speak of the TyTN).
So I am keen to find out here soon
someone on Howard Forums bought a 2GB from Verizon in the US and says he's having signifcant problems as it seems to lag and slow down his TyTN alot.. dunno if anyone else has issues here..?
I purchased a Sandisk Ultra II (high speed) 1gb from buy.com for $39.99 shipped after rebate in anticipation of ordering my TyTn....Too great of a deal to pass up considering that the Ultra II has almost double the read/write speed of the standard microSD.
That TotallyMobile card looks tempting, but I'd love to know whether there's a significant performance difference between normal vs Ultra II MicroSDs when in use on a HTC Hermes/TyTN. Anyone have any reviews covering this (or on a similar HTC device)?
@ marcusjt
looking at the post from iboj007 it looks like there is a performance improvement as you would expect.
I suppose 2Gb ultraII cards are on their way but how long? then there will be a 4Gb standard card and then there will be a 4Gb ultra II just round the corner etc etc
I noticed that ultra II vs normal in miniSD on the Wizard often made the difference in playback of mp3's and videos from the memory card. I would imagine the same would be the case for the tytn.
I bought this:
1 Gb from ebay
Paid on monday, arrived this morning (four working days). Am currently loading stuff on to it for my visit to Croatia next week.
One thing I have noticed is that it's very easy for the memory card to stick in the reader (on the phone) rather than ejecting with a further press. If you take the back off the phone, and remove the battery, you can see the card reader slot (complete with metal cover) alongside the sim card. In the top left corner of this cover is a small square hole into which the stylus point can be inserted to slide a stuck card forward. I find tweasors most useful for gripping and removing the card.
I hope that helps somebody - it took me a while to figure out.
I got a 2GB sandisk from Verizon and it is recognised fine. The problem i have is when scrolling the list of files it sometimes hangs the whole device as the files start to be displayed. I have formatted the card as FAT but it still happened. Now testing the card formatted as FAT32. I will try changing the card if it still happens.
Got my 2gb Sandisk, works fine. No complaints from me at all.
luke.a.jones, did you format your card and if so with what format: FAT or FAT 32? thanks.
no i did't formatt it i just stuck it straight in, ill check that format its on.
EDIT:
Mine is formatted in FAT.
thanks for the info.
SanDisk 1GB MicroSD not working after 4days!!!
Hi Everyone!
Just to let you know that I suspect a similar problem with the M3100 as I had with my M600. Seeing as the phone as is new, I doubt anyone has been using their microSD cards for longer than a few weeks. My M600 and M500 had problems with recognising the SD cards (sometime, not always) and now this with my brand new M3100 and SanDisk... Wondering if its maybe a wide spread problem... else I should be Jinx in the next Bond movie!
Let me know how your microSDs fare.
Viktor
P.S. I won't be able to reply for 2 weeks - I am off on holiday!

I bought my 2GB microSD card (Sandisk) from Verizon in the U.S., and it is working great! Of course, I haven't tried playing any movies yet.
Hi all,
I am about to order a HTC Hero, I wanted to know what memory card to get for it. Whats the max capacity it can accept?
Iv heard of the speed of the card affecting performance, what card (make, brand) should i get?
While I am at it, is the teflon any good on the white htc? I mean if i got a brown one wld i be missing out on anything?
Thanks guys
Hi redice1,
Hero support micro sd/sdhc. As for singapore set it support max of 16gb.
The speed on the card with class 2,4,6. but as for Hero it running on class2 speed no matter u using class 2,4 or 6 micro sd/sdhc. As for the classes is useful on adaptor xfering. ( As for the classes of card is for xfering speed *reading speed is all same*) << this info i got it somewhere while i playing around with my psp slim
As for the brands scandisk is most recommended *almost* everywhere. ( but im using kingston due to more cheaper & is frm my psp *recycle* =D )
I got this pcs of info frm others forum:
Good Morning Frank,
Thank you for taking the time to contact HTC America Technical Support via E-Mail with your inquiry about what class of SD card to use in your Sprint HTC Hero. My name is A.J. and I will be happy to assist you today.
If you are looking to purchase an SD card that the device will read at its full native speed you will need to purchase a class 2. The device will read a class 4 but not at its native speeds.
Frank, if you have any future questions about your device please feel free to visit HTC - Touch Phone, PDA Phone, Smartphone, Mobile Computer and send us another e-mail. You may also enjoy HTC Smartphone Wiki - HTC, which has a plethora of information on HTC devices, including the Sprint HTC Hero! I would also like to invite you to participate in a customer satisfaction survey located at HTC Online Survey I hope you have a great day!

Hope this solve ur question =)
Thank you so very much. Any idea what good website does international shipping for such memory cards?
How about the Teflon issue? will i miss out on much if i went for a brown one?
Also will both micro sd & micro sdhc work
for microSD and microSDHC,I've tried both. They all work!!
Does it make much difference? If so, I will it affect the speed of the phone?
I was thinking on getting the 16 and I can put a 32gb sd card

If you are gonna download crazy number of apps on your phone go for 32gb, if not go for the 16gb s3 plus a 32 or 64 gb micro sd card.
Sent from my s3 on checkrom
But most of the apps can be moved to the sd card

Then it really boils down to personal preference. Do you want a 32gb phone or a 16gb phone? What do you plan on doing with it? Localized or cloud music and video storage?
To effectively help you we really need a lot more info regarding what you are doing with it.
I went with the 32GB version. My own reason is my ASUS Transformer Prime has 32GB and its no where near full, while my Droid Incredible has 8GB built in and a 16GB SD card and is annoyingly full with apps, some of which don't transfer well to the SD. I have two 32GB SD cards for that will be used with my tablet and new S3. There use will be strictly for media for when I'm on the go and don't have access to Wifi. I also expect apps and ROMs to become more bloated in the years to come. Nice to have some space in the long run.

Hi -
I live in the UK and would love to get my hands on a sim-free 32Gb S3 which is a problem as vodafone seem to still have the exclusivity rights.
There are some retailers (simplyelectronics, mobicity etc) that are sell 32Gb units - but I am concerned that that these will have overseas ROM and won't function correctly in the UK.
How justified is this concern? If I get an overseas model then is it just a case of using odin and flashing the ROM and I'll be as good as if it was a UK unit?
Also... does anyone know what the status is of the vodafone exclusivity deal - is it likely to end soon and we'll see 32Gb units everywhere?
Many thanks!
You do realise that you can expand the storage of the 16GB version... how much storage do you really need???
As for the expansys/handtec supply etc. - grey imports - caveat emptor
No such a thing as a UK unit...a car may be but not a phone hardware wise..software not always branded by carriers...and yes Odin it! Plenty of custom romsto choose from..

OP may want the 32gb just to have tons of memory. Anyway, I bought my S3 from mobicity UK. Came with stock European unbranded rom. No issues whatsoever.
Hi
Many thanks to all who have replied ...
LenAsh - yes i know there's a slot for a card but given the OS uses up ~6Gig then ideally I'd like to have some more onboard storage.
Widget21 - thanks for that - if I've understood correctly then just Odin-ing the phone will give me a UK unit as the hardware is the same globally?
DramatikBeats - good to hear your feedback from mobicity - appreciated; was this a 32Gb unit?
Cheers!

hey dconroy,
I'm currently in the UK and purchased an unbranded 32GB S3 from amazon.de without any issues or problems and got shipped straight here.
I'm in France and bought my unit on a Hong Kong website and all is perfect. Localization is brought by the Rom, not by the phone.
Nah, 16gb. 48gb is more than enough memory for me (including 32gb sdcard)
Regardless of where you get it as long as it is modelo i9300 you can restasure you can unlock it flash it and root it without any problems. In my most humble opinion you should wait and get the LTE version
2gigs of ram

Hi -
Many thanks to all the answers - I really appreciate your time. To summarise this is what I think is the case - let me know if any of this is wrong!
* All S3 units are the same globally - it matters not which country it's bought in (so long as it's a genuine product not a fake).
* I can flash the ROM with Odin to make it behave as if it was a new UK handset with no difference to any other and this does not require me to root the phone
Many thanks!
Almost correct. The US S3's are completely different phones.
As somebody else pointed out, just make sure the model is i9300

Hi folks,
Long time no activity for me on XDA, but good to be back!
Been doing a lot of research on the device to replace my ancient GS5 Dev Edition and settling on the S9+. My concern is wanting a 256gb version, or at minimum, 128gb. I understand these phones are available in the UK and UAE markets and can be activated and shipped to the US easily. My issue is I am on Verizon and appears these phones don't have LTE Band 13 which is critical to have.
If international devices aren't an option, are folks aware of thoughts/plans for Samsung to offer a bigger internal storage variant in the US post-launch? I'm fine using a big SD card, but understand you can't load all apps to the SD (especially without root) and afraid 64gb will fill up quite quick with the OS and apps.
Thanks!
