[Q] Drive letter in Win7 - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi,
I have a battery issue and BetterBatteryStats reports a very large number of AlarmManager wakelocks.
To be able to see which apps requesting the Alarm there were a command to run in the command prompt. But that requires that I can assign a drive letter to my phone, and that seems to be quite hard.
I tried a couple of methods read in the Galaxy Tab threads without luck.
Anybody who nows how to assign a drive letter to the Xperia S when connecting to Win 7?
/Glenn

Juts go into compmgmt.msc ,and add an drive letter

[Q] Galaxy Tab and File System Questions

I am trying to help someone debug some software on one of these tablets and i am running into an issue with the file system.
This program has a PC component along with an App on the device.
The PC program uses adb to push the db and image files to the device.
On my phone when I plug it in to the usb port I just tell it to Charge only and everything works peach keen.
But I am finding with a lot of tablets there is no option to just let the device be pluged in and it will auto mount the "sdcard" file space for copying files over.
From the screen shots I have gotten it seems like the system is making a Sym Link to the drive space on the tablet.
As in it isn't showing up as a removable drive like my phone does when you mount the sdcard, but it looks to be under computer\GT-p7500\Tablet\
and the typical trick of clicking on the address bar to get an absolute address return no drive letter.
It is a stock unrooted device, and what I am looking for is if there is a way to keep it from mounting the "sdcard" or how it is mounting it with in the windows file system.
It has been slow going as the guy I am trying to help is in the Netherlands and I am in the states so there is a bit of lag on correspondence
Thanks for any help you can pass my way

tablet not communicating with pc!

Anyone else having a problem with tablet not showing up on computer after ICS. Updated the tablet with Allinone version 4 without any problem but now i need to shift some pictures onto the computer. When i plug in the tablet nothing happens on either the pc or the tablet. Ive used 2 different cables and used 2 different computers but nothing shows up. Debug is on. As far as im aware this has only happened after the ICS rooted update.
I thought that by transferring the pictures over to the sd card would at least sort that out but now i read and tried that external card is being read as "read only". So cant transfer the pictures to sd card and computer not recognising the tablet, now what?
Any advise?

Your computer not recognizing your tablet sounds like an ADB driver problem, so you may have to reinstall the drivers. Condi's AIO Tweaks and Mods submenu items 12 and 11 will solve your problems with sdcard and sdcard2 write permissions and USB Mass Storage support so your computer can access your tablet's memory. Searching the forum about these problems will provide you with additional information on how to deal with them as they have been discussed several times.
Thanks for the reply. Its been so long since i initially setup the tablet. Correct me if I am wrong but when the tablet is connected to the computer the tablet should show up as sony s tablet, is that when the drivers need to be installed. Ive a shocking memory. Im starting to panic as ive documents that I have done in collage. Without the sd card transfering data to extenal in knackered.
So, if I plug the tablet in and NOTHING shows up either on tablet or pc, does that mean that the drivers need to be reinstalled?

Reinstalling the drivers is what other people have had to do to solve the problem you seem to have. For example, read this thread: ADB Issues after ICS update?
Thanks for your time and effort. I have seen this post when i was searchings for answers. Problem is that NOTHING happens when i plug the sony into the computer. Tablet does not acknowledge that debugging is available through the usb even though it is ticked on the tablet. The computer shows nothing either as the tablet has not got into communicating through usb. So to uninstall the drivers will be impossible until the pc recognises the tablet.

The computer is probably not recognizing or listing the tablet because the device drivers are borked. In Microsoft Windows, you can uninstall unlisted (unrecognized) devices by going into Device Manager, selecting "View" from the standard menu, selecting "Show hidden devices" (which should cause unlisted/unrecognized device names to be listed), then right-clicking on the device's name and selecting "Uninstall". After uninstalling the device, select "Action" from the standard menu, then select "Scan for hardware changes" to cause the computer to detect the tablet and prompt you to install the device drivers.

[Q] Help needed : no more access to internal storage

I'm no more able to access my personal data/folders located on /mnt/sdcard/
I only see 2 (empty) folders "external_sd" and "usbStorage".
But I'm quite sure my personal data is still there, but it doesn't show up because access rights are gone ?
- All the apps I previously installed (partially on internal storage) are still working
- When I take a picture with the camera : no picture is stored on the device ! And no more former picture can be viewed
- When I check the storage parameters, I get 12 Gb USB storage free / 12 Gb total
- Access from my PC : same result, only "external_sd" and "usbStorage" are visible
My phone is rooted
I really would like to recover my photos / videos, so please don't say "reinstall everything" unless being sure that the usb storage won't be erased.
Anyone able to help ? I would really appreciate, thanks in advance

Hi,
1. Whenever you ask for help please provide some basic (important) information;
- what step/steps you performed before your issue appeared?
- what's your current rom/kernel?
2. If you are on a stock or stock based JB rom, what do you see when you go to /storage/sdcard0 with a file explorer? If not (you are on AOSP/AOKP rom) you may need to find "/emmc" folder for your internal SD card.
3. USB storage is what is seen on your phone from your PC (while connected via USB port). Go to a custom recovery (if you have one) then "Mounts and storage > mount USB storage", connect your phone to pc via USB cable and report what you see. If you didn't install Samsung KIES app before you may need to install Samsung USB drivers
Try ur memory card with another device, may be its corrupt
Go to cwm select mounts and storage and choose mount/sd card
Reboot
You can try moborobo pc suite to connect to ur pc
Hit thanks if i helped

Hi,
thanks for your advices.
Let me first give you some more information as requested by Many40 :
My original device : [SHW-M250K] (the korean SGS2)
I installed Official XXLQ5 Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware 5 months ago, so I got a GT-I9100 with a 4.0.4 version of Android. Notice no problem since.
Kernel version : 3.0.15-I9100XXLQ5-CL753921
1. I didn't perform special steps before the issue appeard. I noticed the problem fortuitously 2 days ago. The only thing that could be linked to this issue is when I tried (the day before issue) to install Copilot on my device, while having Swiftkey already installed. This made some kind of mess, I had to kill the Copilot application and swiftkey was no more working at all. Some posts on the web explain that Copilot and Swiftkey are not compatible...
2. I cannot see any /storage/sdcard0 folder on my phone (neither when connected to my pc)
3. I don't have any custom recovery, I don't really know what it consists of. Could you please provide some details ?
@[email protected] : the problem is not an external sd card, but the internal storage.
I will have a look at moborobo, let's see if it helps.
Thanks and looking forward reading from you
Try restore factory settings
Do make a backup
It may help u
Hit thanks if i helped u

I restored factory settings, but there's nothing new :
- no personal file/folder visible in internal usb storage
- unable to store a photo taken with the camera (photo library keeps empty)
Any other suggestion ?
thanks
It may be a virus or your files are hidden
Try moborobo pc suite
Sent from my GT-S7500
Hi [email protected],
we are progressing a little bit !
I installed moborobo and the file manager shows me now all folders on the usb storage (my personal folders and system folders like e.g. DCIM/Camera). This shows that the folders were hidden.
But each folder is still empty (contain no file at all), so it seems the files are still hidden. Is there any moborobo/other feature allowing to have them visible ?
I also tried to take a photo : now it works, and the photo is stored under "DCIM/Camera"
thanks
In my files in ur phone go to settings and select option then select show hidden files
If this does not help u tell me if u are able to connect through mass storage
Sent from my GT-S7500
Showing hidden files does not help.
And yes I'm able to connect through mass storage (using "Set USB cable connection mode" and "Connect storage to PC")
It gives me 2 drives : E and I
E: shows nothing ("please insert disk in removable drive E")
I: displays the folders as they are visible in Root Explorer on my device
I tried to change the access rights on I: with following instruction in cmd :
attrib -S -H /S /D *
But didn't help...
Install mobile drives from moborobo pc suite
Then in folder options in ur pc select show hidden files
Then open cmd and type
attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*
Replace g with drive letter
This should fix your problem:thumbup:

Sorry but I'm unable to find anything about installing "mobile drives" from moborobo... could you please give me some hints ?
Am I supposed to find this from the moborobo "Apps" tab ? (under "Applications")
Enable usb debugging in ur mobile then connect it, moborobo will automatically install drivers
Sent from my GT-S7500
When I enable usb debugging in my mobile and connect it, I get a kind of mapped drive named "GT-I9000", but with no drive letter (see attached screenshot)
And no way to access it from cmd, as it is not really considered as a drive.
And launching Moborobo does not add any additional drive... Did I miss something ?
"Run "regedit"and select the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/MountedDevices" folder. See all the "Dos Devices" listed? You'll have one entry for each physically mounted drive (HDD or Disc) plus you'll have one show up for each USB drive you attempt to insert. Double click each device listed and seeifyou seetextsaying something like"U.S.B.S.T.O.R...". Once you find that device, right click it and select "Rename". Now change the drive letter to something unused... like Q: or something. Close regedit, disconnect the USB device and reconnect

Sorry for my late reply, I was away for some weeks.
I was able tu run the attrib command on the internal usb storage drive, but got no more lost file/folders... I assume the file and folders are definitively lost
I even tried a recovery tool mith no more success.
Thanks anyway for your help, and for the time you spend providing me your advice.

[Q] PC with Windows 7 suddenly stops seeing a Samsung S3 from Windows Explorer

I checked the Samsung S3 on several occasions and could see the content of the sdcard0 (internal memory) and the removable SD card from the Windows Explorer on a desktop PC with Windows 7 using USB via the MTP protocol.
I did not download or delete anyting via USB.
I noticed both memories were a bit low on space and a few folders on the external card had files I could not understand, so I searched the Play Store for apps that would let me view details (like file and folder sizes) on the external sdcard. I used these apps to read the sdcard, but did not get any wiser.
I then obtained AirDroid from the Play Store and transferred files from S3 to the PC, but did not delete from or upload anything to the S3. AirDroid worked fine. I decided to use USB to delete S3 files a few days later. Before that I used the the PC for a couple days for reading online newspapers from Firefox, but did not do anything that should have changed the workings of the USB. There were a few Windows 7 updates (initiated at PC logoff) that progressed normally with no warnings about incompatible files etc. A few days later I noticed the USB connect to S3 had stopped working. For example I did not see the Auto-play dialog on the PC and nothing from the S3 showed in the Windows Explorer. I used the the USB data cable that came with the Samsung S3.
However, the the Windows Explorer USB connect still worked for a ZTE Blade III using the USB cable that came with the ZTE on the same PC.
Q1. how do I make Windows Explorer see the S3 again?
Q2. what may have been the cause? (can I download android apps or do something on the Windows 7 PC to help to pin-point the problem).

Q1. how do I make Windows Explorer see the S3 again?
Install Samsung USB drivers
jje
Thanks JJEgan,
What and from where should I download? The S3 USB connect was working for weeks. Could a faulty update from Microsoft have caused this? The S3 is not rooted.
I have downloaded from the Play Store that I assume contains well-behaved programs only, or are there play-store programs that are known to interfere with the USB by design/accident when they run. The PC Windows Explorer USB connect worked with the ZTE Blade 3 mobile after the S3 had gone wrong. If I install Samsung USB drivers is there a risk the ZTE USB connect would go wrong too/instead? I don't know what is required, so I might make the problem worse by downloading the wrong libraries or not doing it the right way.
Is there some program/app I can install on either the PC or Android that would pull in USB libraries and dependencies automatically, a bit like Synaptic package managers in Ubuntu?

Help Rooting Coresmore Android 6.0 tablet (can't get PC to recognize via USB)

Hello,
This is my first time posting here, I did read the rules and looked for the info before posting but had no luck.
I recently installed two ShenZhen Coresmore Technology Co.LTD Coresmore Car Entertainment tablets (website: h t t p : / / w w w . coresmore . c o m /?page_id=838. I would like to root them so I can use the airdroid/airmirror app to control them from my phone, however all my rooting efforts have been unsuccessful.
I tried kingoroot app (and PC version), and framaroot but neither worked.
I also tried connecting directly to my PC, but the device is not detected. I contacted the manufacture and they told me that the usb port is host only. ( I could not find an device drivers on the manufactures website either).
There is an all in one connector coming out of the back of the tablet, but I could not find any adapters for it that would allow me to connect it to my computer.
The tablet also has a TF card slot, but I do not know if there is a root option that can take advantage of that.
Here is some more info about the tablet

Hi,
first of all excuse me for my english. Learn english in school is centuries gone. I have the same problem with monitors and Android 8.1. I try to describe my way till yet:
1. Start monitor and do a factory reset in android settings
2. Connect to your wifi-network. Must be in the same network as your computer.
3. Open Google Play Store on the monitor and look for a app called "ssh helper" from Paul Lutus
4. Install and start the app. Notice ip-adress and port.
5. Install "Putty" on your computer
6. Open an SSH-session and connect to the monitor. In my case the credentials "admin/admin" or "root/admin" worked.
7. Connect an USB-Keyboard to the monitor.
8. In the "Putty"-shell type reboot bootmanager and press enter. The monitor should reboot and showing the bootmanager menu
9. Look for an option "show recovery logs" ore something similar
10. In the log you should find a line with content "adb connect" and a port
11. Download Android debug bridge on your computer and unzip in a folder. Use Google search to find it.
12. In the directory type "adb connect [ip-adress of monitor]:[port shown in log above]
13. Now you can use all Android ADB commands. If you use "adb shell" you will get a session via wifi. If you type "su" without any other letters, the commandline will switch from "$" to "#".
14. When you try "whoami" in the commandline, the session should answer with root.
15. Now you can remount folders or root folder with read/write permissions, change Ownership of files or folders, download, edit and upload files, e.g. init.rc. Try a Google search for all ADB-commands.
But be carefully...operations at a opened heart are dangerous.
