hello, I have a rooted and bootloader unlocked htc amaze.
I have checked the threads here but for my wind mobile network, mms is not working.
I am surprised you can have 1 apn for both internet and mms.
is anyone having the same issue or better yet resolved this?
Thanks for any help
I have the same problem, i tried putting in APN Settings for Internet and MMS on a telus unlocked HTC Amaze 4G. I suggest you try a custom rom (bulletproof? or energize i think they have the correct APNs built in and with a newer Camera App)
Hm same situation here but I am on mobilicity. Weird it used to work on X's 3.5 sense but on NRG it doesn't.
If ur on nrg rom, if ur not on tmobile u need to manually enter your carriers apn settings
Check here for apn settings:

I already did
I am on most recent energy rom release.
I have 4 apn's pre populated, don't know what 2 are for, Broadband and WAP.
The internet and mms apn's that are pre populated, all look OK.
Spent couple hours on phone with Wind tech support and they no help at all. They just told me to do hard reset, then checked my account, all looked OK. They refreshed settings and reloaded things on their end, still nothing.
Try deleting all the apn that are not for your carrier. Shut down phone and do a battery pull, then see if it works. Not sure it will i just saw it recommended in a diff devices forum

Thanks for suggestion, however, only apn's showing are for Wind, my carrier.
What about the broadband and WAP apn's what are these for?
Never seen them before. Should I delete them?
Thanks

Ok. Had the same problem setting up my mom's Amaze on Wind. It did not want to receive mms not matter what I tried. I called in to tech support, battery and Sim pulls. Got frustrated as hell with the locked APNs!
But in the end, the magical key to unlocking mms on her phone was so damn easy....try sending one instead of just testing by receiving them. Don't know why I hadn't tried it sooner. Also don't know why it worked. I just assumed it initialized something within Wind's backend. After that, it receives perfectly every time!

thank you to all whom have replied, however, it is still not working for me.
Could it at all be linked to the ROM?
I am currently on the most recent version of Energy.
I am almost for certain I had it working at some point previous to this but just not sure when (not sure if I was rooted yet or which ROM or maybe I was OEM, not sure).
After you root and put custom ROM on, is it possible the Wind network sees you as a Non Wind phone even if you bought the phone from a Wind store?
Just trying to trouble shoot this.
Thanks for any help others can provide.
My Mom's phone is fully stock. However it had this problem originally. This was the first phone from Wind. Everything else was either Tmo, nexus, or a dev device, but all worked for mms. I have a feeling its on the network side. Call them back and push them to dig a bit deeper.
Mobile Internet on ICS doesn't work.
I was running GB on WIND, with the phone unlocked and with S-OFF. Then I downloaded the T-Mobile ICS upgrade. After the ICS upgrade everything works except Mobile Internet. I tried the WIND APN's to see if that would help, but no joy. Any idea why the mobile internet doesn't work after an ICS upgrade? Wifi internet works just fine.
I also tried to load the WIND ICS upgrade (over the air version) I found on the WIKI (after the fact) but it won't load over the T-Mobile ICS build.

Hi,
I recently moved from the US (AT&T) to Australia (and now use Telstra). I got my phone working... all except my data. I have absolutely no data. When I first unlocked my phone, I recieved emails, but now, nothing.
I checked my APN and entered in all of Telstra's info, and still, nothing.
What caused this? How do I fix it? I have been reading of people swapping radios without changing their SBF.. How do you do that? Is the process hard? lay it all out for me.
My AT&T Atrix is working on Telstra. Use http://configure.telstra.com.au/ it will provision the correct APN values for you automagically. That should fix it

SC youre my hero. Seriously, that was awesome. I went to Telstra and they just entered it in manually (idk why that didnt work and this did, but either way... AWESOME)
You sir are amazing.... THANKS DUDE
I've recently flashed Jokersax's unofficial cm9 to my phone .... i only receive 1x.
I decided to flash spleef's [MIiui.us]MIUI/ICS port [unlocked] and i am receiving the same problem.
Same issue with all roms flashed from Kitchen sink.
Same issue with Paranoid Android, which is what i'm currently running.
When i flash my Stock backup, i get 3G back.
My unlocked bootloader was suppose to only disable 4G so i know for a fact i am missing something or doing something wrong.
I did some searching and found that a specific Sprint business PRL MIGHT help. I am not sure how i would get this PRL file on to my phone because i cannot enter edit mode by using the ##MSL# from the dialer. I've already added the PRL file to my SD card.
Please go easy on me if this info is out there already... i do a LOT of research (hours and hours) but sometimes i just can't find it and i know that people love making others look like idiots which is why i say this. I've searched forums that seem related to my issue/ROM and found nothing. I searched them with the keyword "1x", which is how i found the possible fix with the business PRL.
Thanks in advance for all help.
It might not be a problem. The stock roms, all except peetr's 2.3.5 rom, will incorrectly register the 3G icon on the bar. Check the your phone's network status. If it says CDMA- EVDo rev. A, then it is a problem that it says 1X. if it says 1xRTT then its fine as its just 2G
Exactly what post above says, also to flash to PRL you can't simply put it on SD card and use dialer codes like you can some other devices, you have to use QPST to flash it. If your really interested on flashing it theres a tutorial floating around here on how to use it, I personally run the 01115 business PRL

Thanks for your quick response, i really appreciate that...
BUT, Settings>About Phone>Status> Reads that the Mobile Network Type is "1xRTT:6"
So based off what you said i should be at least 2G speeds regardless of the indicator .... But what about 3G? I am not always around WiFi and could really benefit from the use of it since i can no longer receive 4G =)
Thanks again in advance !

Like photon4glover said, if you're and change the selection, you'll stop force roaming on Verizon's 2g network that you're PRL forces you to. If you cant get a good Sprint signal and you're roaming anyway, I suggest you flash a different PRL like w0lf215 said so that you at least roam on their 3G network. However, you may be booted from Sprint for excessive roaming

I'm having a hard time understanding why I have to flash a business PRL to get this working properly on every single ROM except stock. I've flashed several phones before without having this issue.
My settings are set to "Home" as suggested. I do not want the possiblity of something happening and having to call and deal with sprint because of some roaming issue. No offense to all the Sprit lovers out there.. but hopefully flashing this business PRL will fix this issue.... I must admit, though... this phone is not as "user friendly" as the others that I've flashed and played around with.
I also have a problem with MMS so I'm thinking about using a different ROM.anyone recommend a good well rounded Rom that works out of the box?
Again, thanks for the input

So on the stock rom you're getting 3G Rev.A? I'm just curious since the only custom rom I know might do that is Jokers kitchen sink.

MMS works out of the gate on the MIUI builds I do (latest is 2.6.29). Saw before that you were mentioning Spleef's MIUI...he's been doing AOKP and others for a couple months now. I'm doin MIUI solo now ( ) It's all good. The MMS issue you're probably having is due to an error in your apn-conf.xml file. It's edited correctly in most of the ICS roms except CM9.
If you're looking to do PRL, just flash skinny rev 1 or shadow rom, update your PRL, then flash back to an ICS rom.
It's not bad to work with...just gotta get to know it better. If you have any questions, PM me, and I'll help as best I can.
So I put the latest .10 ICS leak on my phone yesterday because I can't wait for the OTA since i'm leaving soon. I downloaded the 4G on off app and am thinking I should be able to pop in any SIM card and it should work on GSM. Is the phone unlocked? Also I might need to use my normal Verizon SIM to use in Italy and Spain. The verizon reps said if I left it in it would work just fine. Is this true? I currently don't have any GSM cards to test with and I've been looking everywhere for the answer but no success. Help would be amazing.
Thanks in advance

But I thought that was one part of the ICS update. So is the phone kinda locked like I can only use verizons rates? I want to try a SIM but I don't have one
With GB or the ICS leak you probably can get basic calling and texts with a GSM cell company sim card.
With the conrom ROM you should also get mms and data to work. Supposedly everything works.
Also, I suspect gsm antenna is not in the extended battery cover, so you should use the standard back cover that came with the phone.
I personally have not tried gsm in my rezound, so the above advise might be incorrect. this is just something I am interested in.
howard
p.s. T-Mobile sells a $1 sim card with 10 minutes of talk time, an internet deal. So you can buy this $1 simm to test with.
p.p.s. You will also need to go into the settings and add the apn settings for the cell company whose sim you are using. data and mms won't work without this.

Thank you so much. I just need calling and data and mms to work. I'm just going to google how to change the APN setting as you said. Thanks a lot for the help man. I have the ICS leak which is supposed to support global roaming straight from VZW.
Well, there is a thanks button you can click on.
I do not know much about Verizon's New global roaming, bit I suspect it will be expensive per minute. Using a local cell company's sim card probably will cost less for long visits overseas.
I wrote an app called HZUTILS which can also do the radio changes like the LTE on off app. My app is free, also does a few other functions, and if you click on an advertisement I earn a few cents.
The CONROM is available in the development forum. During installation one is asked GSM or LTE. no easy switching back and forth. I suggest you make a nandroid backup first with Ramon ra recovery or the touch recovery. Restoring the backup is a method for returning to LTE. Or one can reinstall the conrom and select LTE.
If you look through the development forum you will find other gsm ROMs. The CONROM does both LTE and GSM, was made from the latest .10 ICS leak, and sounds like it is very reliable.
p.s. let me know how this works for you.
Thank you but I don't wanna root my phone really.. I forgot something last time and almost bricked it. Well not really but it was scary. My only question is really can I just switch it from your app as it is now because I can or must I have a custom Rom for some type of reason?

I recall, a few months ago, reading a very long multiple page posting about people having various levels of success with stock GB and changing the radio setting using LTE on off app. People were successful with phone calls and texting, but had difficulties with mms and data.
People did strange things to get data working, and it only worked for some people. I think it involved driving the phone in a car to get somewhere with no cell signal, then back home? Not sure, as I don't recall it very well.
Then people started typing in the APN for their gsm provider. This evening, just for fun I tried typing in the APN for T-Mobile into .10 ICS leak rezound, and it would not get saved. No error message. Verizon appears to have locked out the capability to add a non Verizon APN. So, yes, I think a gsm ROM is needed.
BTW, there must be plenty of rezound owners using GSM who can more confidently give you more concrete advise. They can tell you what they tried, what worked, what didn't, and what is the best approach. I think the answer is a GSM ROM, or paying high roaming charges to Verizon.
Alright ill just try and get a sim off someone on at&t and see what happens. But thanks a lot man I hope I get an answer from someone doing it. You were a lot of help ill let you know how it goes!!

I just received the official Verizon ICS in the last hour. I am poking around looking for the global feature, since it is THE promised reason I bought the phone. Offhand, I do not see the global feature anywhere . Network mode still only shows' LTE/CDMA' or 'CDMA only' as the choices, so it seems that 'global' is still not official from Verizon in the ICS as just shipped.
The LTE ON/OFF app seems to have a few more options than when I last looked, but I've no idea what's may have changed.
I put in a tmobile SIM card and changed the settings in the app to GSM and wcdma and it worked calling and texting! It didn't have data but if you go to mobile network settings and access point names I feel like you could add the apn and be golden using data and mms over gsm. I'm Hoping this is the truth but I don't have anything to test it with

GSM switch gone in ICS OTA?
Looks like option to switch to GSM is gone. Dialing *#*#4636#*#* does nothing...
that option to show network modes when dailing *#*#4636#*#* is removed in latest RUUs and official OTA, but however you may flash any of ROMs available to get GSM

So SMS worked with the ICS OTA, both send and receive? Last time I tried 2 months ago under Gingerbread, GSM calls were fine, but could only receive SMS text, could not sent texts, and never got data to work.
I've spent over 1/2 of the last 3 months overseas, so this is a big deal to me. Even if just the calls and SMS send/receive work, I will be pleased. VZ told me the global feature is not in this latest Verizon ICS OTA, but maybe the inner workings are there and they just haven't put in the frontend and any VZ profitmaking carrier lockouts?
I am off to South Africa next Friday. Sounds like I will have to get an MTN sim in ZA and try again when I get there. Maybe this ICS OTA will have some value to me afterall. I'll try to remember to post back here, whether it works or not. If it all works, however, I'm pretty sure the posting will only be redundant info, since my screams of giddiness would be heard around the world... afterall, I've been using an old unlocked GSM RAZR flip phone when I travel.

Hey,
I was playing around with a few Custom ROMS today, and my mobile data stopped working. The APN settings are correct. I have flashed multiple ROMS but no luck. Even stock ICS ROM. I think I have the wrong modem/baseband combination.
My phone show H+ or 3G icon, but as soon as I try to use the internet, it vanishes. Wifi works fine.
Any ideas?

Yes the APN is correct.
Could someone possibly tell me which firmware I should flash? I purchased my phone from Pakistan, but I'm not sure which region it is for. Will that make a difference?
Something happening with this phone. I had the same issue a few weeks later.
I tryed almost every modem available unsuccessful. Just my local carier can solve. I didn't known what they did, but solved until now.
Although your apn settings may be correct, they may need updating.
This sometimes happes in the uk.
Maybe if you tried deleting the apn settings out and then ringing your carrier network up, and asking them to sent your correct apn settings to your phone, maybe this could help.

Had the same issue with my GS3 (I9300) after switching from those Straight Talk Bastards to AT&T:
Whereas Straight Talk simply f*cked up b/c of a collapse of their data network, so I assume (with nobody at ST saying a word for 2 days, of course.. ), it turned out that AT&T actually had deleted my new account - by mistake - after just one week of 'happy browsing'.
A trip to the local AT&T store solved the mystery and got me up & running again.
Unfortunately, though, it took the AT&T folks a while to figure it out, as they are not used to unbranded/international/ unlocked phones wanting to join their US network. (Don't even try to solve this over the phone, if you have a choice).
Kudos to the AT&T staff, though, as they got the problem resolved eventually. It definitely helped a great deal that my phone had been working just fine on their network just a week ago, so I was able to stand my ground and insist that the problem was at their end.
One of the reps - apparently without a clue - tried to tell me all sorts of BS, e.g. that the I9300 would not work on AT&T; that some Samsung phones supposedly don't work with their network... bla bla blub blub...
Fortunately, I knew better and told him so. Otherwise, he may have successfully gotten rid of me; making me search for the problem someplace else (a.k.a. giving me the run-around or making me chase my tail, etc. :banghead: )
Thanks to xda (and the Internet), however, I had all the knowledge necessary to make sure they get it back to work. Now I'm browsing the web again with 7Mbps Down/3Mbps Up speeds, using AT&T's really fast HSPA+ network here in the Chicago Northern Suburbs (close to O'Hare)... Yay!
Good Luck with finding the problem with your data loss issue!!
P.S.: Let me know if you need my APN settings; just for comparison (.. in case you are in the US, too).
Cheers,
AA

My friend purchased a G900T that was broken for parts, which needed a new screen. Upon replacing the screen, the phone was functional, but he discovered that the IMEI number had been blacklisted on T-Mobile's network. We unlocked the phone to use it on ATT, and the device works fine on the ATT network, with the exception of mobile data. No matter what steps we have taken, putting in custom APN settings, we have not been able to get data to function.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be causing these issues?
Thanks a lot in advance! :good:
Have you tried to flash an AT&T ROM & AT&T Modem?
Or are you still running T-Mobile ROM & Modem?
Still running the stock Tmobile rom and modem. I thought about switching to ATT rom and modem, but I wasn't sure if that would brick the phone or if it should just work with the stock Tmobile modem. Can I just flash an ATT rom?
Just make a Nandroid beforehand.
T-Mobile S5 comes w an unlocked boot loader so you shouldn't have any problem. You put in an AT&T SIM card right?
You do not want to flash AT&T firmware on a Tmobile phone unless you are looking to brick it. You can however flash ROM's from Unified S5 threads (900F, 900T etc.) that are open to multiple model phones.
So if I flashed one of the unified roms, would that change the modem at all? I was thinking that it wouldn't be part of the package. Would just flashing an att modem be a terrible idea? I am using an Att sim card. Thanks for the ideas so far!
No, do not flash an att modem or ROM on a tmo device. It won't work, and it is not meant to work.
Does your subscription have an active smartphone data plan?
Are you getting any data connection (E, 3G, or 4G)_and you're not able to jump on the LTE or just no data at all?
If the answers to above questions are yes, there are a few more things att checks for before authenticating data use on a device.
These fields need to look exactly like this:
ro.product.model=SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
ro.product.name=klteuc
ro.product.device=klteatt
ro.build.product=klteatt
This information lives in the build.prop file of your android OS and you're gonna have to look up how to back up and edit this file. Start off here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948558 and keep on reading. I kbow this is exciting and you want to make it work quickly but it is not so simple. So reading and researching are your best friends.
Best of luck,

Okay, thanks for the info! We are just plain not getting any data at all, and the user does have an active data plan with ATT. MMS messages are not even able to be sent or received. So in this instance, do you think modifying the build.prop to match the example you gave me would resolve the issue? I'm pretty comfortable working with the build.prop on the device and just working the the Android OS in general so that should not be a problem.
So I guess checking the APN settings won't be a bad idea:

Okay, I had checked APN settings before, but I'm not sure if they were specific to the S5 on ATT or just some generic ATT one I found. That thread looks pretty helpful, I'll see if I can give it a shot later today.
