Hello, I have 10 000 msg, it's doesen't lag if I open it with a iPhone but with the basic app of the XS, it take 10s to show me conversation.
I think the prb it that the iPhone only show you a few of message and you have to click to "Older msg" but the android app try the load all...
It's very important to me to have all this message and I really like the android sms app design.
Thank you
I haven't had any problems using GoSMS. Then again, I don't nearly have as many texts as you do..
I don't think there is a solution apart from stop being such a crazy hoarding mofo! lol
Srsly? 10k messages? How on earth can you 'need' all of those.
That is a bit odd, I had more then that on my Ray with no problems, don't know bout the SXS as I ain't stored my texts from my old phone
Could be a version problem

LOL are you a Filipino? They are known to text that much because of the unlimited text promos from their mobile networks. 10k is still not enough for most of them. many can generate 2k texts per day. I had 4k messages but that was just spamming votes for Jessica Sanchez.
I am Extravaganza, I can text how many SMS I want for free for another Extravaganza, all my friends are Extravaganza, and I text them a lot... but... seriously?! 10k? My maximum was 7k on my Nokia 5130, the phone was so slow that I couldn't even delete the messages, if I tried to delete them, the phone turned frozen... I had to send it to the store so they can delete everything
Then on my X8 my maximum was 5k, one time i didn't flash roms for a while... no problems, it lags, yes, but even with 0 messages the SMS app lags on X8, so.. yeah, no probs.
Now on my Xperia U i still only have 1k, 0 lags, smooth scroll...

You guys gotta try Pansi SMS (yes i know horrible name), but this is by far the fastest msg app thats out right now, and its not blotted like go sms, its simple to use and also customize-able
Liking it so far no bugs for me so far

Thanks for the tip.... I tried the app and it's ok. The menus look like it's from go Sms. I'll stick with the stock app for now.
Stock ICS app and SMS Pop-up will always be the best in my opinion. On GB I stick with Go. I tried this one, and while it ran nice it didn't really stand apart from any other messaging app.
Tried it, still prefer go sms pro

Pansi MMS Crash
Anyone experiencing "process com.pansi.msg has stopped?"
Everytime i try and send an MMS it crashes. I've wrote the developer 5 times and no response. And there hasn't been an update to the app since july 31, 2012. I have a Razr Maxx. Any help would be appreciated.

Personally for external SMS solutions, I use Google Voice as I can use it on my phone but also via my PC.

Sorry no help, but I have experienced exactly the same issue. Stock messaging sends MMS fine. Pity, Pansi is a superior product apart from this issue.

No new updates for pansi, its to bad. I love this app but now it drain battery, if you use betterbatterystat app than you will see for how long this app keep waking your phone.
TimeService wakelock of pansi drains your battery
Cannot get rid of the missed call which is on the Phone icon.
After reboot, still there.
Does someone else have this issue ?
Yes my friend's is stuck on one missed call since the first day he got it and my Samsung app shows an update even though there isnt one. We tried everything short of wiping the phone.
Next firmware
I guess we will have to wait for the next firmware update.
Try calling and missing a call and see what happens.

I have the same problem, the 1 missed call is stuck there, I think from the update..... i've learned to live with it
Was solved for me after wiping the phone.

I had 4 missed calls and after acknowledging it, the icon was still there it wasn't until I called that person that the icon went away. I say call for a split second and hang up. Maybe thats the trick!
It happened after the update so factor rest AND full wipe helpen to solve it.

Hi guys,
I'm new here and have been looking around to try and get my question answered but haven't quite had any luck.
I'm made the move from iPhone to Android and absolutely loving it. I'm sure we're all aware of the MMS issue? I have a couple of questions regarding this.
1) When sending MMS's from iPhone to iPhone and iPhone to Android, the picture quality is obviously much much better. Why is this? Why the limitations? It's definitely not the carrier.
2) I'm aware of Go SMS and all those 3rd party apps, but is there a mod or "fix" to the resolve the issue? I'm currently using LiquidSmooth RC7 and love the jelly bean messages app.
Apologies for the long post!!!
Thanks

What messaging app are you using?
When i first made the move from iphone to android I was using Go sms and Hancent. Both had this problem but after switching back to the stock messaging app, havent had the problem.
Using Liquid Smooth ROM which has stock jelly bean messaging app.
I stuck my sim in my iPhone again and a friends Windows phone and MMS that are sent are way better quality. Only on Android it's shocking... just curious as to why exactly.

Hmmm that could be the reason why. Try using Stock SMS if you can. if not then I'm out of ideas.
Yeah already tried that. Still nothing. Apparently Cyanogen Mod has a settings menu where u can change the outgoing MMS size. I'm sure there's something in the code that can be changed but not sure where. Will wait for CM10 and see if that changes anything.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Need to change the compression level of the MMS i guess.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yeah, would be good if there was an option to set the limit. At the moment it's at like 40-60kb. Ridiculous. All other phones have a much higher size.
Sent from my GT-I9300
Yeah its a shame really. Only working solution I've seen is to tell go sms to preserve image quality and stop compression.

Actually it is the carrier, when you are sent an MMS, the carrier sends you a SMS telling you to get it.
Your phone then connects to their server and passes a user agent string. The carrier then works out what's best to give you.
If they haven't got around to adding you user agent, often they go for worst case scenario.
Some apps allow you to have a custom user agent (messaging, not web) which should help.
The other possibility is the iPhones were using iMessage instead.
+1 for iMessage. Why use other between two iDevice?

Op what country are you from mate? Regardless of what other people say it is true MMS on android is shocking so i use whatsapp it is a multi platform app and you can send 12sec vids and pictures via your data and it doesn't cost you anything extra. Only costs a few kbs of your data. You can also use kik. But i wish the mms quailty was better to be honest.
I don't see how its the carrier when the same carrier on other phones don't have an issue.
I'm from Australia mate. Yeah started using watsapp a while ago then deleted it.. but other people need to be on it too don't they?

Yes.
But it still might be the carrier, since iPhone to iPhone probably doesn't send mms, but uses imessage instead. That's why there is no limitations in picture size.
I personally prefer using Line. It's free (whatsapp costs 1.99 USD a year for "server costs")
iPhone to iPhone worked even before iMessage was out. Pics that were sent were delivered in good quality.
I've found my solution for the time being. Facebook messenger has added SMS/MMS threading into its app now. Very seamless and convenient. I've tested sending MMS to phone numbers without them having a Facebook account (or not being Facebook friends) and the pics get delivered in great quality.
Thank u all for your suggestions

I know the stock messaging app has the option to delete messages over a limit, but the limit itself was set after the fact. So my limit is around 500 but I got some threads over 500 already (from before), any easy way to get rid of them?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Yeah, I'm rooted. Actually I just installed this CM nightly recently, so even when I restored the messages via Helium the extra ones didn't get auto-erased as it got restored. It brought in all 550 for this one thread even though the limit was 500 at the time!
But yeah, what's your idea?
