You use Odin right?
Volume down, home, powerbutton. Yes most probably.
Then its no harm TRY install another PDA. Rooted or not.
If it dont work, like a "boot-loop" or "kernel panic", just
"Odin" back the "old" PDA.
I have experimented hard with mix pda's, modems, and scs's,
and stumbled much, but always been able use Odin and restore.
Mixing versions as for example OXXLPB and XEOLPQ CAN make "kernel
panic", but no worry, just use Odin and restore to working
People say its allmost impossible "brick" our Galaxy S2's, so Im atleast,
are never scared to try some new stuff
Just be careful with experiement with "bootloader" in Odin. Im told that can
be scary.
Good luck, and have fun

[Q] About to flash I9100XWKE7_XEUKD1_XXKE4 but Odin files missing from SamFirmware

Hi,
I want to flash I9100XWKE7_XEUKD1_XXKE4 onto my i9100.
I downloaded this file from samsfirmware.com I9100XWKE7_XEUKD1_XXKE4, but it does not contain any files for Odin. It only has a I9100XWKE7_XEUKD1_XXKE4.tar.
However the instructions on samfirmware state that four files are required:
PIT
CSC
PHONE
PDA
If these are not available on Samfirmware, then where are these found?
Otherwise, I shall just flash the PIT file and the .tar file as PDA/PHONE/CSC and see if it works?
Regards.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Follow the instructions .
jje
Thank-you. This is far clearer than the Smasung Flash PDF I had.
I have this installed. I shall try some thing sooner but with KE7.
PDA XWKE8
PHONE XXKDJ
CSC EUKD2
Is XXKDJ later or older than XXKE4?
If this is an alphabetical increase then I should think so.
Q1: Actually the guide you referred me to is rather unclear. (But it did help me a lot)
"If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file."
Well, yep. This is clear, but it does not state in which part of Odin one puts the .tar file into. Is it:
1) PDA
2) PHONE
3) CSC
Does anyone know? My monies on PDA, but nothing states precisely which one.
Q2: PIT files. I _want_ to wipe everything out and start again. Think of this as a completely fresh install. Why you cry? Because I am trying to reset _everything_ before I return it back to Samsung as a faulty unit. Resetting (or reinstalling) should confirm or deny whether this is a hardware problem or not. Hence the desire to format all the discs and let it do its (presumably) mkfs.ext4 on the whole lot. Of course, it it does an mkfs on all the current disc partitions using the .tar then I don't mind not repartitioning the discs, but just incase. ;P

Put a multi one in PDA.
OK. Flashed it. Thank-you for your help. I think that it now has a recent radio in it than before.
Currently:-
PDA XWKE7
PH XXKE4
CSC XEUD1
Although, I had an FC whilst trying to set-up the APN on stock...
On a side note:
Its nice to see that Samsung still have not mended their APN settings software since the i9000. One still cannot enter APNs of certain configurations. In this case its Virgin Mobile in the UK. ( I am using a roaming SIM [VirginUK] in Holland to check that the 3G problem is limited to Tele2,NL). Funnily I am not alone: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1696824
Even after flashing stock, the 3G works intermittently in the same was as before.
I shall try and see what happens with KE2. Perhaps this phone needs to use the stock KE2 and its associated radio/csc to work correctly. ( I don't really know, but stock worked exceptionally well when I got the phone. It went a wrong after I flashed a custom ROM with KE7 and KE8).

I used Virgin UK on SGS2 no problem on KDD KDH modem and KD1O2U CSC .
Sometimes the UK carphone warehouse csc CPW covers Virgin better than the standard CSC i found on SGS1 .

Since last night I have tried full PDA/CSC/PHONE for KE2 KE7 and now KF1 (with MultiCSC). I think that this is not a phone problem but a change on the either Tele2 NL or T-Mobile networks. (Tele2 being a MVNO).
I never got the Virgin sim working: Unable to set the APN.
I shall start a new thread about this later in order to diagnose the problem.
The stock roms from samfirmware are zipped in a RAR file.
Inside this RAR file there are files labelled .tar.md5
Are we supposed to relabel these .tar.md5 files to .tar?

Do you mean
1) Put the I9100XWF1_OLBKE5_DXKF1.rar file into ODIN PDA and flash? But this is a rar file!
or
2) MODEM_I9100DXKF1_REV_02_CL1017685.tar.md5 directly into modem, PDA to PDA and CSC to CSC?
ODIN recognizes .tar.md5 files?

Can't flash with ODIN - PLEASE help!

Spent a frustrating day trying to sort this so I'm posting here as a last resort as I'm at the end of my tether!!
So. Was browsing the marketplace(new style) and my phone crashed and then would not reboot. It would only go as far as the Samsung Galaxy S2 screen. so I took out the battery and half an hour later returned to see if all was well when I reinserted the battery. It wasn't. I should point out at this point that I was happily using the latest MIUI and appart from the occasional reboot all was well. When reinserting the battery did not work I tried to reboot into CWM but found that I could not. I can however reboot into download mode so have been trying to reflash my phone using that. However I can't get past factoryfs.img! It just stops there every time! Tried :
Usb Jig
Different USB ports
Restart computer
Reinstalling Kies drivers
A different version of ODIN
Many different ROM files (including Litening 1.5 which I know works from a previous flash)
Re downloading various ROMs in case the download was dodgy
Please, please help. I just don't know what to do now
Im thinking its very possible that something in your phone fried and the only option you have is service.. From the way you describe things as not advancing past factory fs.
You make no mention of flashing a stock rom via Odin .That is the normal method of recovery.

Thru odin you must use 4 files first you have to use pit- ext4 , then- pda , then- phone , and finaly csc.
You got all files here and do please read.
These are stock roms.

Since reinstalling Kies and reinstalling the drivers, my computer won't recognise the phone at all even in download mode. Might have to admit defeat soon
Flash this recovery package, which is XXKI3, 2.3.5, Open Europe http://hotfile.com/dl/130600047/b70801e/I9100XXKI3.rar.html
Tick the 3 top boxes (Re Partition, auto reboot and F.Reset time)
PIT -> PIT
CODE -> PDA
MODEM -> PHONE
CSC -> CSC
If that doesn't work or fails, flash this, which is a XXKI3 Kernel : http://www.multiupload.com/WDOO81L5H6. After that, re-flash the recovery package (with PIT and repartitiong, but be careful )
Report back if it doesn't work, and good luck!
If that doesn't work, flash the old bootloader : http://www.multiupload.com/LQQBRQVJUD in either the PDA or Bootloader section in ODIN. If that is successful, flash the Kernel again, and then the XXKI3 recovery package I gave you.

How to switch back from I9100XXLP6 ## to 2.3.6?

Hello,
I just flashed with odin the new ICS firmware out on sammobile for sgs2 (I9100XXLP6 ##) which came with a file for PDA, for CSC and for Phone, but now that I am trying to flash again any 2.3.6. firmware I keep getting errors already at the start when associating my google account and stuff...
I assume that is because of the additional CSC and PHONE file that was included in I9100XXLP6 ## but I don´t know where to find the refering files for 2.3.6. firmwares since these only come with 1 file (for PDA)...
I would be glad for any help I can get
Hi,
Could you give more information about the errors? At what point do they occur? What errors do you get?
The csc files can be found somewhere on xda, use the search function. The file you need for the phone is called a modem, can also be found on xda.
Although I do not expect that this causes the errors, how did you restore? Did you while your phone and cache first?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
What 2.3.6 rom are u trying to flash on?
If the DL was dodgy it would cause problems, redownload and reflash
PIT: if included, also optional
PDA:Code
Phone:modem
CSC:multi csc
Did you do a full wipe?

greetings hello I commented that the same thing happened to me the only thing I do is flash with this version XWKK5
follow these steps:
1.Install again (XXLP6) completely.
2.turn off the phone and enter download mode and install the (XWKK5).
3. Once you install the XWKK5 completely. turn off the phone and go into recovery mode and perform the wipes
I hope to help and luck.

The problem is, even though I can boot into download mode, the computer no longer recognizes my phone. No sounds when I plug it in or anything. If I plug a jig in, it will come on so it's not the port. Can someone help me?

You need a three part firmware, with modem, csc and pda, flash with pit and repartition, to do a full wipe. I think you used a non wipe firmware, that's the reason for the bugs.
Question
When you flashed the LP6, did you flash it with the .pit file too? I suggest you flash back to your stock ROM but you also have to flash a .pit file as well. This happened to me too when I flashed the KP8 ROM. I reflashed my stock ROM but it kept giving me errors at the initial boot. So I flashed my stock ROM again this time with the same .pit file. If I'm not mistaken it's this: u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit

Did you get the 2.3.6 firmware? If not look at this thread from Infratech: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278. Have a good look at the section marked "Individual CSC Packages". Maybe this could help if you suspect a wrong CSC being the cause of your problem.

[Q] [Help] Samsung S2 - dont want custom rom - want to go back to stock

Hi guys,
Im having a difficult time finding out how i can get back to the nordic official samsung rom.
I have no idea what i should flash and if i need Odin or just use recovery..
So if there is a kind soul out there that can point me to the correct files, and explain it step by step, i will be forever gratefull!
Yes, I know there are some guides, and i have tried reading them.. But I dont want to **** this up, as I need the phone tomorrow for work :/
So, please, if you can help me, i will be very gratefull
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S2
Country: Norway
Check the model under the battery.
Go to sammobile.com and get your ROM for your region.
Or use checkfus downloader and get the ROM for Norway.
Also mind you, You can flash any region ROM for i9100 in your phone.

Chris.
No don't use pit, don't know how you get that.
Just extract the zip file you will get tar.md5, put it in pda under Odin.
Also the file you got is ics, just to let you know, if that matters.
So this is how i understand it after reading alot.
1. Unzip the I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXXLPD_NEE.zip
2. Open Odin 1.83
3. Choose the unzipped file I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXXLPD_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar.md5 as PDA.
4. Flash without ticking ANY of the options in Odin.
5. Sucess??
Can someone PLEASE confirm?

[Q] When using Odin to flash a stock rom should I use the original from the carrier?

I have a S5830M from telcel with the rom SGS3 V2. The phone has around 100mb of user occupied not by my apps I believe that's because I flashed the rom from an already in use stock without using odin first.
I want to use odin to flash stock to try and recover that lost space but I'm not sure which stock firmware should I use. I was able to find the original telcel rom after CheckFusDownloader_v2.1 failed to download it but I'd rather not use that one because it seems to have some features removed.
Could I use the pre-split rom provided on the flash guide or should I use the original telcel rom?
I'm not sure if I can use the pre-split rom because it was made for the S5830i model and I don't know if the stock roms are compatible across the i/M/C models

Thanks for your help. That's pretty much what I did. The flashing went without problem and I had the original rom running correctly, however it still had around 80mb of space without any apps installed so I guess the problem is the telcel rom itself. It doesn't surprise me much considering the quality I've come to expect from them.
I took the risk and flashed the S5830i stock and it went perfectly, it now displays the S5830i model at boot and everywhere else, but it's not a problem. So I can confirm that at least the model S5830M from telcel con be flashed with the S5830IXXLA4_S5830IOXXLA2_ATO_Repacked stock rom
I installed simplicity v5 over it and ended up with only 20mb of occupied space so I'm quite happy with how it turned out
