Hi all.. I never bother about using Facebook nor my email on custom ROM... But my friend asked whether he can use banking transactions on Custom ROMs... Even i had the same thought.. But i thinking if i use the dolphin browser or Opera mini the data which i sent will be encrypted.. And is thr any chance of ROM's seeing this encrypted data??
Well,I think it's safe ...
Don't know about lewa rom...

I agree with you, but CyanogenMod is safer than stock because it doesn't have CarrierIQ.
That thing is scary! It logs your keystrokes and all sorts of other personal data.
Try this app if you are worried:

NO. Incognito mode means to browse with the purpose of not exposing your identity. I don't think that has anything to do with transaction things
well if you guys have some warez which requires Root Access then there is the biggest risk lies..
but as said above common sense matter most
yeah common sense is the most important.
ever heard of ettercap, droidsheep, man-in-the-middle attack, wireshark etc?
using those tools attackers can easily capture and decrypt your sensitive data over the air if u use wifi without you even knowing it.
it doesnt matter if u use the most secure rom out there, if u stupid u'll go down the drain pretty fast

Antivirus are crap with android, there is no use of them and no need of f them, because they only scan app names, if app is modded and does some harmful activity, they are still going to say it's safe and trusted+ consuming your ram and processing power all the time, i thought everyone in xda knew that antivirus for android is just a marketing strategy

Need help selecting custom rom for galaxy ace for a friend. This is his first android. He bought the phone just thinking it is cool to have an android and for free apps. His phone memory was full first day and is unable to move to card. I convinced him to root and install custom rom. If you suggest the stablest and fastest gingerbread on ace with most features as in stock it would be helpful. I am quite sure that he would not go for an update for next 6months atleast after I install gingerbread on his phone. Thanks in advance.

Well. I guess they are all good roms, you should just try them, but since your friend doesnt seem very interested on it, well just chose one randomly (dont know if this phrase is well made, or even that ahaha).
I'm using coderom v2x-2b, and just like someone told you, sod is caused because of wifi. i'm using kph with L modem, and I have no sod at all since... well since i'm using it (2 weeks, maybe more).
All of them offer you almost the same... cf-root, a2sd and ext4 compatibility, etc etc. I use a2sd to put apps on the sd card, even dalvik cache. Now my internal memory keeps between 129-136 mb free (dont know why it changes ahhaa ).
Cheers!

It is a bit unfair to blame the browser when it is the websites themselves that are formatting the pages for a mobile phone. With the user agant you are lying and telling the website you are a desktop PC.
Have you tried installing the free Dolphin HD Browser? That is what I use when I need to see the desktop page.

That's only partially correct. There might be security patches (maybe) but that's it. The app will even be removed from the Play Store later this year. So no updates to fix compatibility with new OS versions. That means no Flash on Jelly Bean.

That's very bad news especially for the sgs3. Flash is very buggy on this phone and won't be fixed. When it does work the performance is amazing though. You don't even feel any slowdown when flash is enabled.
What is there reason? It's got 100 million + downloads.. people want flash. Ad a few ads or whatever to make it profitable

Most probably because google want to drop support for flash. So they stopped support in advance. Its a pity because flash works perfectly in the last 2 generations of android smartphones and provided a truly desktop internet experience. Now that android does not support flash browsing is not anymore capable than ios anymore.
Yeah lots of people will probably respond with something about html5 being gazillion time better than flash comments but you know what? html5 performance sucks even worse than flash. Youtube html 5 videos perform poorly even on my i7 desktop pc. So what if html 5 is the future? This has been repeated over and over for the past 3 years but guess what? Today flash is still the more widely used format. I want to view my content now not in the uncertain future.
They said the same about ICS. I'd ignore the comment, the writer is probably just doing some PR to suck up to Apple.

This article compares flash vs html 5 performance. Flash came out on top. While that was back in 2010, I tested it today on my galaxy S3 and flash is still much faster than html5. 25fps vs 48fps.
HTML5 performance suck balls even on my Desktop. Tried all the browsers, many demos work badly. Buggy or not, flash is better right now.
HTML5 videos doesn't even play on the Vimeo desktop page while flash worked perfectly.

Of course Samsung gives updates to rooted devices... your friend may have a completely custom ROM (e.g. Omega or Wanamlite) which, of course, has it's own updates and no longer uses Samsung update service.
OTA Updates require a recent version of CWM and CF-Root, but are supposed to work in these.
Kies (tethered to the computer) updates work regardless of which Root-method is used.
Odin (manual updates) with a firmware from samfirmware.com will work in any condition
Clean unrooting is only required when you want to send it in for warranty and the phone still works.
Of course you'll have to re-root after updates unless there is a RootKeeper app (I dont use stock, so I don't know about that)

Am getting similar msgs about a running game whatever..... It must b some application i installed which pushes such ads or adware...... How can i know which app? Nd by the way dont know if it is wifi on off related but rather happens when internet source is toggled..... Wifi/3g etc.... Task manager shows no application running....
I asked my (Chinese) wife, it means "The Internet connection was changed".
I don't see any pics man
A quick look at logcat will probably tell you the offending app or process.
It means way of connection to the internet has changed in Chinese
I had a similar issue to this on a UK firmware with an SGS2 and when wifi was enabled it used to display a Korean message, I think there maybe some non-translated strings in this area.
Here is the text if you need it:-

Well, there is no "issue" except that they've forgotten to translate a string of text somewhere saying "your internet connection changed" as previously stated. This notification is correct.
If you don't want to root it or flash different firmware you'll have to live with it for now.
