[Q] Why does it create 2 virtual drives when connected by USB to the PC?

I can see in Windows the MicroSD drive and also a CD-Rom drive. What's the point of this cdrom drive? What is it really mapping from the phone? Because it cannot be accessed.
Thank you.
I'm not sure, but I think the CD rom drive is for PC Companion.
If you use root explorer and delete dop.iso it should stop that, however if you do this then you can't install PC Companion from your phone.
What is dop.iso? If it's a file to be installed in the PC It cannot be accesed. The SE cdrom unit is just empty, so I find it pointless to be be mounted in Windows.
Does it happen in Linux or other OS that you have two units mounted? Is this just a thing of the mini or does it happen in all the xperias?.

[Q] Changing USB OTG pendrive mounting point

Hello,
Scenario: SGS2, KIES-updated HKI4 firmware (2.3.4), rooted
I have an USB OTG adapter I got from DealExtreme that works quite fine. FAT32-formatted pen drives are instantly recognized and properly mounted.
However, if I plug in a ext2 pendrive, Android says it is blank.
The problem, however, is that the ext2 partition is recognized as /dev/block/sda/sda1, so it is not mounted automatically. If I mount it manually, I can access the ext2 partition and use the pendrive as any FAT32 (with all the added benefits of an ext2 partition).
How can I make Android mount an ext2 pen drive automatically? What config files do I have to change?
thanks.
hii bro ... I have HTC wildfire s with android 2.3.5 ...but its not rooted... what do you think will It recognize fat 32 pendrive if I try to do on the go with it ... or do I need to root my phone ... any suggestion would be much appreciated ...
Most 2.3.x devices with USB OTG support will automatically mount FAT32 partitions without the need of rooting.
Actually, in order to mount other filesystems, one doesn't need root either. All that is needed is access to the console (such as Terminal Emulator) and give the proper commands.

Boot from USB (Windows 10 Tablet PC )

Hello, I have a Windows 10 Tablet PC.
(Dell Venue 10 Pro 5055 / Cpu is an Intel z3735)
I can boot linux distros and Clonezilla but I can't boot Windows installations from my usb pendrive.
This tablet can be booted only in UEFI mode (no legacy/ standard bios...)
I have a Windows 8.1 iso. I want to flash it on my pendrive but Rufus and "Windows7UsbDownloadTool" allow me to format the pendrive just in ntfs... and the tablet detects as bootable devices only devices formatted in fat32...
Please help me! :crying:

Trying to set up a DLNA server on my S3 - what file systems are usable?

I have a USB hdd connected through usb otg and it recognizes a drive is plugged in, but thinks it's empty / unusable. I think it's ext3 or 4. Which file systems can the S3 read? If I flash a custom ROM would it allow me to read other file systems? Thanks
The usb hdd needs to be fat32. Do not use windows own formatter as it is broken. Use an external app like easeus. A custom rom will allow other file systems but you might not be able to read them on a pc.
