I was flashing rage kernel v2.6 on my st15i. The screenshot below has this S1 partID......... which i pointed out. Does this mean there is something wrong with my ST15i. I'm not new to flashing kernels and roms. Please clarify.

Yes there is something wrong. That 179 counts the days that your device will eventually get bricked, it counts down to 0 then boom, you're officially ****ed.
Actually im just trolling No there is nothing wrong, its just the hex address of the specific block in which the boot image is written on the internal memory of the phone.
woof! I would have been runnin around the net if would not have read the last part. Thanks anyway.
So every time I flash a kernel different addresses are used OR a particular kernel uses only particular address ???

Depends on kernel, but mostly should stay same addresses.
Don't worry, if it is different, nothing bad will happen.
I think its based upon the kernel. CM kernels might have a different address shown on there, Stock ones a different address and so on.
All these are speculations ofcourse, its what i make out of the lines. Its nothing to worry about

That address was absolute kernel blocks address.
0x00000148 - 0x00000179 = 32 blocks
1 block = 256KB
So kernel partition size :
32 x 256KB = 8192KB
Your device will doomed if you have alot of bad block.

Hi,
Sorry if its a rather simple question but can someone please either explain or point me in the right direction on the different terms used on Android phones especially when it comes to custom roms, kernels, firmware etc
What do these terms mean, what do they do and what can be updated individually or what comes part of other software/firmware/ROM etc..
Also which terms are used interchangeably but mean the same...
Apologies for asking this simple question and thanks in advance as I'm confused to what exactly i can update, in what order etc! BTW I'm using an old miui build and i thought i was running an old siya kernel? I still want to stick with miui ROM....

basical the following is:
baseband = modem is the radio that allows you to make calls.
kernal = firmware which contains the apps and other controls.
build = Rom is firmware, modem, bootloader all under one file.
Kernel the very base of the OS communicates between cpu etc and OS .Same as Linux or Windows kernel
Firmware usually a full package includes apps kernel modem OS and csc .
Modems are interchangeable for most country's
Kernels are interchangeable .

Absolutely no bumping after 4 hrs. This isn't your personal tech support hotline :-/ You make a thread or post & you wait patiently for a response/help.
Right, ive noticed a few prople have had similar problems but nothing that is the same as what im am experiencing.
basically, about 6 weeks ago i flashed the Alien v4 rom (wanted to retain webtop else i would have chosen cm7). this has worked flawlessy till now. Ive suddenly started having issues with wifi and data connectivity.
When connected to wifi i get internet access for aropund 2>10 minutes. then i lose it, although my phone still says im connected to the network. When i turn off the wifi, i check the wireless setting and it says that mobile networks are not connnected. when this happens, the data icon in the task bar is grey not green, ive noticed i only get a connection when its green.
System version:
4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US
Baseband:
N_01.100.00R
Webtop:
WT-1.2.2-110
Kernel:
[email protected]#3
I had the same problem before, a few months ago. Think it was just an issue with the ROM I was using. Have you tried a different ROM?
Not yet, will be when i get home. I was under the assumption however that alien was the best (webtop rom) in terms of speed and stability
Just backup your ROM in recovery - try out as many ROMs as you'd like to try. You might find one that both resolves your problem and suits you better, and as long as you have that backup you can just jump straight back in where you left off with your current ROM.
I have a backup anyway. Always make one once I know a rpm works after flashing. Been flashing for too long with many a handset to not keep backups. Ive learned the hardway with this haha

I've bought this Coolpad 7295 phone for less than three days from China.
It seems that I couldn't flash my phone back to the state where I could get the service for calling the first day.
After the second rom flashing with my flash tool. I kind of formated the Yl-parames and NVRAM section of the phone.
I don't know these two mean! Could someone explain how they work? Are they related to the hardware or the motherboard of the phone?
After the wrong formatting action, my phone could not make any calls. (But everything works, and network works also. And later I flashed many roms, all of them work, just no signal)
So the third picture shows that this device has a different partition compared to the most smartphones in the hardware called "YL-parames".
My friend who is good at making custom roms in Taiwan said I might accidentally screw up with the hardware partition.
I just want to know with this problem appearing, is there any other way that I could get my signal back?
I've tried several methods like rewriting IMEIs, reinstalling the official roms, but none of them work.
Or should I just send it back to the dealer to get it fixed? (I'm doing it right now...)
Just want to know in case the phone is back, how should I operate this flashing tool because I'm really a tech-savy
1) The first picture represents what i chose for the outcome of no signals later on.
2) The next one is its interface
3) The next one is the official flashing tool, but I still can not flash the CPB provided by the official since my hardware seems to be broken.

I would really like somebody to develop the custom rom in the English version for this device, this device is pretty good!
Or is there anybody using this phone as well? It's nice to have someone to exchange info with!!
All versions of CWM recovery I've tried and built for the HTC Desire SV (dual sim) has this strange behaviour: when scrolling down through the menu, the screen jumps some characters for every odd menu item, and is correctly displayed for every even menu item.
This is with CWM Recovery 6.0.3.6.
Is this a bug, or any way to configure my source files to correct this?

Happens also on 6.0.1.2. More obervations: the first 50 pixels or so are missing in the rendering of the page (can be seen in the bottom left corner: a black row of pixels, under "Warning"). Having a look at ui.c, miniui.c, seems to be a bug when flipping pages.
Fixed by disabling page flipping
Fixed it by changing some code in bootable/recovery/minui/graphics/c ....
This is where it goes wrong:
vi.yoffset = n * vi.yres;
Somehow, this also introduces an x-offset, at least on my device.
Although exact root-cause is yet unclear, I made a non-page flipping CWM recovery. Let me know if anyone's interested.
The quick fix can be downloaded from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487211. Will probably commit this fix upstream on github ad well, once I figured out how.
I still wonder if this bug is device related, please post a reply and let me know if you also experience it, which device, which ROM, etc.

I also get the exact same issue on my device.

Hello, the main problem is that any app using advanced graphics is crashing on me, so I decided to make a test and downloaded OpenGL ES 2.0 Demo to try.
And the result that I get was unbelievable, there's a gallery of my screenshots.

As for my phone, I already had a long story with it, there's the thread, where you can get all the info on the other site, but I'm not able to post links yet, but if you Google " Screwed up my G+ K3" you can find it.
If anyone can help me to get the GPU to work properly, I would be superthankful, I am already starting to lose my mind.
Seems like your GPU is damaged.

Can this be a result of bad drivers or something? I don't really know much about drivers on Android, if there are even some. There's a firmware for another GPU installed, so it might be the cause, but I got no idea how to fix it.

Very VERY likely if it was anything along those lines it would not be general user serviceable by any means.

Well, if I'm getting it right, there's actually nothing to do it that just by my hands then. Since the firmware thinks, that there's another CPU and GPU installed, would flashing to the other firmware (some MT6572 one) work? I had a bad time when trying to port another firmware to it, it didn't boot or I just wasn't able to flash it - was getting errors.
