Hi guys, i've encoutered a strange problem that anyone hasn't ever spoke about:
My neo v mt11i is 3 days old, i've updated it trough sony companion to the stock build 4.0.2.A.0.69 and, when i don't use it for like 5 mins (deep sleep mode, right?), it turns off and, to turn it on again, i have to open it, remove and replace the battery. This problem was there even before i installed some apps.
It happens always when the sim card is in and it happened just once when it wasn't in.
It happens mostly when 3G is on and i noticed also that, after some heavy use, it gets quite hot and i don't know how normal is this.
Has my phone some manufacturing defects or can it be solved easily?
As it's only three days old I'd send it back

this update is only available in Germany but you can flash it on your own Neo / Neo V via WotanServer.
I myself installed this firmware version and got new baseband version plus I think some memory fix.

I'm using this ROM too and on 3G network with Mobile Data Enabled all the time, but didn't noticed any deep sleep being turned off, well for Sony phones (IMHO), it gets hot when you are on 3G and on heavy usage.

It could be a firmware problem
Try reflashing the .42 fw
Does the phone heat up during light use ??
And by chance are you using Root Dim and/or Disable Auto Light senso

Its a software that updates your phone to other branded/country based firmware.
If your BL is still locked, then you can still use PCC but if not you cannot use PCC anymore.

During light use it doesn't heat up, and i'm not still using anything rooted and i don't plan to: this phone is for my father (newbie, obviously) and i want to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks anyway
No idea why you got Germany only firmware... my colleague in Milan has the Neo V and his shows no updates beyond .62.
Anyway, try a full factory reset (the whole works) and see of it clears the problem. Or try PCC again to reflash the same firmware. If no good, the phone is indeed faulty and should be returned ASAP. Ignore the comments about flashing another firmware, the firmware (if you have it absolutely stock) is fine.
Return the phone ^ ASAP

I've bought it from amazon that ships from Germany. I've performed the full wipe and the problem is still there.
I was thinking about downgrading it to the .62 build but i'll just send it back to amazon, they'll send another one.

Oh really? You appear to have a problem with a custom ROM , not a stock one. Perhaps you could re-think your posting...
stay on 62 like i do and wait on ICS, then you will not having al the problems with your phone

Done twice, nothing different . I've already packed it and i'll send it back, they'll send me another one (i prefer using this way than bringing it to the sony ericsson centre, it would have taken months).
Thanks everyone!
I have this same problem since the beginning(been using the phone for 4 mths now), although happens rarely like once a week or so..
My phone is rooted, and have installed CWM..I use DisableAutoBrightness Xperia on my phone, could that be causing this problem??
The only way to find out is to go back to absolute stock and try for some time. I would also avoid adding shedloads of apps/tweaks and so on until you establish a possible cause.
If you really must add non-mainstream apps and/or tweaks (memory managers, task killers etc.) that modify the low level operation of the device, then add them one at a time and use the phone over a period of time to establish their robustness.

Dear SE, if you are not releasing an update because you're still working on that video noise, you're breaking our hearts. I don't give a damn about video noise. But I need to check out the new CM update.

Interesting, my Mini Pro is still on 4.0.A.2.335 from July 20...
There are like 9 newer firmwares certified, though the phone and PC Companion show that there is no update available for my phone.
What kind of strange update policy is this???

I'm new to android, but im guessing its like Blackberry OS where it's up to the individual carriers to release the software for each region?
I just tried PC Companion with my Active ST17i, and that too (like the update checker on the phone) says there's no update available for my current 4.0.1.A.0.284.
Hi guys,
there are news about the release of this new firmware version?

Hi,
I own and Xperia P LT22i. For some reason, my device didn't notify me about the JB update however it seems that everyone got it. I tried system repair and checking the software update from computer and mobile multiple time. How to get the official JB without installing a custom rom?
U don't need to install any custom roms

Hi,
Me too facing the same issue. My PC companion is up-to-date, which says you've latest Android but still have ICS.
Is there any possibility to find out which (region) my Xperia P phone belongs to ? (I purchased via online)
Is Flashing JB is allowed ? (Will Sony support after flashing JB ?)

I solved my problem and upgraded to the official JB using PC companion. You can get your device upgraded by following these steps:
- Root your device using the Flashtool (you will find it here in the forum)
- Using the root explorer in the ES file, change the file /system/build.prop file as mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249238
- Restart and check updates. You will get a notification that JB update is available for your device.
Best,
Updating the phone now. Hope it has the one-handed feature!
I would like a working FTF of this, I guess I should reconsider my rooting attempt and try the steps on the .475 rather than .471. Since my bootloader is unlocked, I have to use FlashTool for all updates until we have custom ROMs out.

Ok, so after waiting a couple of weeks for an update from Bell since Sony released the firmware, I've decided to take the updating process into my own hands. Coming from a Nexus 4, waiting for updates is something that kind of frustrates me, so here is my questions:
I understand that the model bell has is the c6806. Now, will I run into problems trying to flash the stock Sony firmware from Bell's bloatwared up edition? Also, do I need a custom recovery, or can I keep stock? I really don't want to unlock my bootloader because it's taken me ages to download all the software and files I wanted... unless I do a backup, I suppose.

I also have a Z ultra from Bell and I updated manually following these instructions without issue. Just download the FTF from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453921. Pick model C6806 GENERIC US.
Then follow these instructions to flash using "Flashtools" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428319
You don't need to download the XZU device folder because it's already incliuded in the new installation.
You don't need to unlock bootloader since it's from Sony but you won't be able to root your device and you will lost all your data. Except if you uncheck "Wipe Data" in Flashtools software, be it may decrease stability.
Hope this help.

After hearing fo all the problems the .290 update brings (seemingly,) I think I will wait for kitkat. 4.3 jellybean isn't enough of an upgrade to justify the issues it will bring, or to lose root. KitKat definitely will be, though.

That OTA is for .257 then. That is 4.2 Not 4.3.
You could find it in BASKOU his CDMA thread. But really doesn't matter which CDMA you use. As long it is matching. The excellent guide from Lord can also help you further. You should defenitly have a look overthere.

Oddly enough, I have yet to get the ota for 4.3. Been checking multiple times a day. Hopefully I don't run into issues, since I did root/ Detroit.
I received the ota because my cda product Id was changed when I flashed the Us retail. 532 so that's why you didn't receive it the build.prop you send me wasn't the same as what I had.

If you downgraded to .532 then
Flash this .532 ftf to avoid IMEI loss
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=2476#downloads
I'm guessing that you've downgraded from 290 to 532? If so, update to 290 again. This problem won't go away by itself. It'a a baseband thing. It got updated with the ROM when you updated to 290, so it seems like it's not compatible with earlier builds, and that's why we're ending up with no IMEIs when we downgrade.
It'll work again once you update to 290 again.

Huh... that's strange.. Have you checked out the "missing IMEI" thread that's some place around here?
well I could unlock my phone because us unlockable. but only if I has to
This 532 ROM should fix your problem. Flash it using Flashtool. No root or unlocked bootloader is needed.
i did but, i only found ones that tells you only if you updated

Check my post above yours (with the link). Just flash it using Flashtool and you'll be fine.
It's almost 4 AM here now, so i'm going to bed. I have Tapatalk notifications enabled though, so i'll catch your new posts in bed if there are any
i will try it. i hope this can fix my problem thanks a bunch. let you know ( lord )
You do that. I'm going to bed now, so be sure to quote my posts from now on, so i get notifications from Tapatalk. Can't guarantee that i'm awake 5 minutes from now, but we'll see. NUT's 532 ROM should work fine though (the one i linked).
Thanks. will report later or tomorrow....

I don't know what would have happened to your ZU and the only thing I would suggest is to flash [NUT]'s rom that lordmanhatton linked to. This will wipe any userdata so back up stuff (should leave photos/music etc I think) but you will lose passwords/wifi keys/account settings/etc
I so want to quote lordmanhatton and wake him up...
got it. thanks
I want to give thanks to LORDMAN. and every body for your help. I've got my phone working again by flashing with flashtool. just like you toll me LORD Thanks again.
