[Q] Camera dependency: kernel or ROM? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
It's my first post here and since I really can't help CM7 team, I just need to know something:
Is android camera apk dependant of the installed kernel or ROM?
I'm curious because after months of reading, I went ahead and installed CM7.2 on my both phones, Xperia Mini and Xperia PLAY. Both are working way better than when I had stock sw (kernel and ROM) installed, but one little missing resource bothered me: Xperia Play camera can't shoot HD videos anymore, only 480p ones.
I really just want to know if I can expect something better in the next realeases of FXP or not, that's all!

[Q] Ported ROM (Hero CM6 to X8) Stuck at Boot

First, i want to thank cyanogenmod people for their awesome works, then dsixda for his/her Android kitchen, then XDA people who inspired me to learn about cooking ROM, you guys are awesome
Well, as the title says, i want to port CM6 Hero ROM into Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, i'm using libs from some ROM that are meant for my X8, also using ramdisk that already built in X8's Custom ROM.
Here i attach the adb logcat message when my phone boot, from what i see, there is no problem regarding the booting process of the phone in the log, but hey, i'm newbie, maybe you guys know what is the problem.
Please help me, i want to learn more about Android, well my first attempt is to port this ROM
Thanks before, Regards

Progress = I managed to boot the phone, i found that framework is the problem, some pre-installed application doesnt work, like terminal emulator, then the android keyboard.
How do i disable physical keyboard options in setting?

On the cyanogenmod forums are 13 nightly builds posted...
How much time does normally pass between a first nightly build and a stable release?
Anyone got any idea how stable this build is?
cm_coconut_full-13.zip

I have used aka tested it. Its cool fast.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600762&page=4 check here for the file
The brightness is too much I think 100% I think it will spoil the display.
No hepatic feedback on soft keys.
Battery back up I have not tried
Anyone can comment on battery..?
Go to Development section, there are 2 topics, CyanogenMod 7.2 and CyanogenMod 9 for 2011 Xperia series, including Live with Walkman.
These are the CM ROMs, that are also on the official webpage. FreeXperia Team is responsible for building these to 2011 Xperia phones. You can find more info in these topics.
Cm9 stable
Yes! I've tried the new rom. It's smooth and fast. NO doubt. But comes with few bugs which can be resolved easily.
1. Wifi doesn't work.
2. Accelerometer lag
3. Stereo Speakers working but no xLoud ( Only for sony live with walkman).
I've fixed all these bugs and create d a backup image. Contact me and i'll send you the link.[/FONT]

[Q] Linux kernel 3.0.xx on xperia 2011?

First, if this thread should be in general can someone move it pls.
Now to my question. I know that for example the samsung galaxy s has a similar hw as our phones and can have the new kernel, but i never saw a kernel for our phones higher than 2.6. Does anybody know if we can or cant(and why) use the new version cause it has a better security system
Some developers are working on a 3.0 kernel and there are already some threads about that
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.1
Porting kernel is not a simple task. Fxp team whom currently working on the project to bring kernel 3.x to xperia 2011 gen said it would take atleast six months, or would take forever ie it would never come to our phone.
is it really necessary?
Do we really need kernel 3.0 on our devices?
because I have read here and they say its almost same as old kernel "OR SAME AS OLD KERNEL "

[Q] cm 10.1

I just bought Desire X and I have some developing experience so I wanted to give it a try. Before I start I have a few questions:
1. Is there any work started, any github I can visit, anyone I can contact about this?
2. Are there sources for this SoC? On my previous phone (S3 Mini) ST - Ericsson decided not to let us have sources, we had "stable" CM, but without HW
hey there, good to know we got another experienced developer a developer named atis112 started work on CM9 but then we got a Jelly Bean update so he's now working on CM10.1. This is the thread here and his gitub is on it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194509

[Q] Specific game not working on new ROM

Hello XDA Forum!
I'm a new member in the forum, recently iv'e discovered the inner geek in me and decided to explore the world of roms. (yes im a newbie lol)
I hope to contribute to the forum as much as i can.
Anyway, Here's the story:
I have a Motorola Atrix 4g of course and i'm using epinter's excellent cm 10.1 rom
The only problem i have is that my favorite game Leauge of Shadows isn't working. I had the game working on epinter's cm 10 rom based JB 4.1.2 with 2.6 kernel and the game works on other JB roms with 2.6 kernel. So i believe the problem is with the kernel. With the current kernel i have ( 3.1.10) the game start but crashes alot and touchscreen doesn't work.
So my question is, is there anyway to run this game? can i run a specific app in a 2.6 kernel will my device has 3.1.10?
I've tried to install diffrent kernel but failed to install for some reason.
Any help will be much appriciated!!
Hi! Welcome to the forums!
Short answer: Not yet.
Long answer: As you should know, anything with the 3.1 kernel is considered an (not so) early stage alpha. It isn't meant to be used as a daily driver, only as testing and development. Right now, the focus of the development is set into modem drops and audio issues, once all basic things are working, then they can focus on other things, like the issue you have.
Also, kernel is the main piece of software any device (computer, smartphone, etc) uses. on windows xp, the kernel is ntkernel.exe, on linux and android is vmlinuz.
So far the only solution is to install a rom that doesn't use the 3.1 kernel, such as cm10 (not 10.1), cm7 or early iterations of atrics
Thanks!
