Well, right now I have the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G.... My wife and I went into a T-Mobile store today and they informed us of a new plan they had that would save us about $100 a month. So, me, being the person I am, asks if the new plan will mess up my upgrade for my phone.... And lucky me.... Instead of waiting another 8 months for an upgrade, the new plan will actually allow me to upgrade then
So, long story not so short...
I am debating between the Samsung Galaxy S2, OR the HTC Amaze.... I was just curious as to why, if you already own the Amaze, you would or would not suggest it to someone? Thanks for any input in advance!
It's an all around badass phone. GSII is plastic TW crap.
Realistically, is the Amaze a lot more durable? Also, I have read quite a bit about something called, 'Screen Bleed'... Do you have a problem with that at all?
It is way more sturdy than any Samsung device. There is a thread about screen bleed .

little screen bleed but its a awesome phone get it
Yeah. I read the thread on the screen bleed.. I was just seeing if you had personally had an issue with it....
And what are other small things that you like about the phone?

In my opinion the screen bleed issue is blown out of proportion. There is some screen bleed but it is only noticeable on a dark screen. For watching movies which may have dark scenes I use mVideoPlayer which turns off the backlit buttons. It has never been an issue for me.

I don't think it would be a big ESL for me too... I have never had a phone with buttons like that, but i hardly ever have the screen at full brightness either... am I right to imagine when you dim the backlight it also dims the menu keys? If not, I still don't think it will be that big of a problem

I found this online I beileve this is a prototype of the amaze. but as you can see there are no bleeds from the buttons on the buttom of the phone....wonder if they had to change things around causing this issue.

yes, it does look like the Amaze, but we get 10 GB internal not 16.

Well that and even on the black version there is still a silverish trim around the glass screen. In the picture it appears to be all black.
Binary , he might have a case on the device or that's a unfinished prototype .

Perhaps but that picture was taken prior to it's release. I doubt that it's a case for two reasons...
What cases were available prior to the release of the phone? Cases are just now coming out and look nothing like that.
I doubt that anyone showing off a phone would prevent potential investors or customers from seeing the entire phone (in the nude so to speak)
So with that said... why would they purposely create the screen bleed issue?
yeah thats some early version of our device,
though the lack of screen bleed doesnt surprise me considering when at near-max brightness its not noticeable
To be honest I love the Amaze as it is and I am AMAZE at the quality and build...I came from a regular HTC Desire that I still love and Mod...
We need Guardian Bob from the captivate forum to hook us up with a version of his keep the lights on app. It allows you to turn the button lights off also. It would be great if one of the devs could cook up a rom with something of that nature in it. I tried using it on my amaze that I just got today but it only works on Samsung devices.

Pardon me guys, but what exactly is screen bleed? Is it when the 4 capacitive soft keys are lit and you can see the light on the side of the phone? Thank you...

Pretty much. On the amaze 4g you can see the light from the capacitive buttons on the bottom of the main screen.

Some Sensations owners had the dust under the screen issue. As some Sensation owners migrated/upgraded to the Amaze ( myself included) that may be another place the mention of dust may have originated ( Just to clarify my Sensation DID NOT suffer from dust under the screen) also SGSII owners may be haters and.... haters gonna hate, lol.

yeah. just like with cars. if you have pop up headlights its automatically 10x's cooler+faster then anything else.
Or, despite the lower pixel density, some people actually think the GNex has a better screen.

That's cool. People can totally have preferences. I love both, i've seen both. To say one is factually better is ridiculous though. I hate blanket statements like "betters it," especially when on paper, it doesn't.

Apparently, "HD" - yes... Although thanks to the upgraded RES/DPI, they had to downgrade from the Plus' "Real Stripe" RGB display back to Pentile.
The next generation phones, after the Galaxy Nexus will then have a true upgrade to Super AMOLED HD Plus which will maintain the high RES/DPI as well a have RGB support again.
All depends on what you want.

I couldn't tell if the screen was decent on the Rezound or not because I was too distracted by the red LEDs and the Sense farting up the Android experience.
(Don't really care, glad you guys like your phones, just thought the GNex deserved some love in here.)

hahaha yes!
I think we need a list of things that we can make factual comparisons.. you know, take the opinions out. you cant debate facts, they are what they are.
does the screen have banding - yes - fact
is the screen pixelated - yes - fact
s there a grainy look - I think this is an opinion
Whites look yellow - yes - Fact
We need more True/False things to use for comparisons
I took my bolt with twisted's ICS build to the Verizon store and compared to the nexus. What a difference, the bolt screen was beautiful. The colors looked the way they should. Ics on the rezound is gonna really make the nexus look bad

Just noticed the other day when I pulled down my notification bar. In the lower left quadrant I can see a small circle of pixels that are darker than the rest of the screen. I can only see it in a dark room with a black background. Anyone else with this issue?

It's called "black crush" and last I heard, Supercurio was trying to develop something to alleviate it. Google search it and you should see some results
Edit: nm you do have those black blotches common in samoled screens

Those are the "blotches" that you will hear people talk about. They are common on the Samsung SAM-OLED screens and have been a problem since the Galaxy S. If it really bothers you your best bet is return it and try another one, but that is hit or miss you might get one thats worse. Its a problem with manufacturing process of the screen (no software fix).
I guess it's kinda relieving to know it's common but not at the same time

It doesn't have to do with the retina displays...just the type of material. Apple and HTC use LCD variants and the manufacturing process doesn't introduce these black ink marks.

I'm guessing black phones outsell white by a large margin, maybe 10 to 1 or even more, so the techs are used to grabbing black parts. Mistake, but probably an honest mistake.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium HD app
Also both the black and white s4 are white on the inside so if you take a black one and take the back cover off it will be white and with the front screen removed it will also be white so it's easy to get mixed up on what front to use.
