am going to try one of the custom rom in my st15,currently I am on ,42 with unlocked boot loader in stock,if I go to .62 how can I root my phone?[or unlock boot loader will allow me to root .62]
There are so many threads about this subject. You don't even need to search the forum just scroll 2-3 pages and voila. You can root .42 and update OTA but your bootloader must be locked to do that. There is a method to root .62 also.
ok
i will search

Hi,
I'm looking for an manual to get root access for the orginal Flyer HC 3.2.1
So far i know i get with the HTC Boot loader unlocking process only the possibility to install alternative Roms. Is that correct and what are my options to get root rights?
Thanks, Alex
Wrong section, everything you need to know is posted already in threads. Htc dev unlock will allow you the ability to Fastboot flash a custom recovery, which in return will allow you to root and flash roms
the process:
Unlock--flash cwm recovery for HC--install superuser-3.0.7.zip

If your phone is sim-locked, then you can't unlock your bootloader with s1tool. Maybe that is why you can't enter the fastboot mode.
I understant now tnx all but i stay on stock rom ...
Is there a way to root my neo running firmware 4.0.2.a.0.62 without using fastboot
I have unlocked bootloader using test point
But the phone is sim locked so its not possible to boot into fastboot mode by holding the menu key and plugging in usb
Is the no other method to root this version other than fastboot
DooMLoRD method does not root the device either
Even though i am sim locked can i still install custom roms if i was eventually able to somehow get cwm on the device

no way. you need to downgrade to 42, and read this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468866
which you could found if you search a bit(actually it's on the same page.. and in the sticky roll-up thread), user with 300+ posts should know that.

only the ones which doesn't require custom kernel, but most of them does.

so really im wasting my time unless i can unlock the phone
And of course i searched but was unsuccessful
No need to unlock bootloader to root phone.
You only have to use flashtool to flash .42
then use flashtool to root.
then use flashtool to flash .62
Follow the guide from above, its a 5 minute job
downgrade to .42
root with Doomloard method
hey guys, im trying to root my ultra on .136
I looked at the guide and found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 ( root many xperias )
downloaded it, and pressed option 2 ( Xperia Z, V JB)
and it hangs on starting daemon on something
currently using my girlfriends shoddy windows 8 laptop ( its so terrible )

DONT do that...
@gcg000 please advise anyone of the consequences of unlocking their boot loader. Simple isn't allways best.
@JackHanAnLG pleas read the stickies in the general section, all of them
If you want to keep your warranty, DRM keys, X-Reality/Bravia 2 then you have to back up your TA partition
You will want to downgrade to 532
Then root with the tool you tried, but option 0
Backup TA
Unlock BL
Then Flash a boot.img with recovery
Then upgrade
[Then flash ROM if you want]
But please read the stickies
hi there,
like the title says im trying to flash a different / older/ stock ROM to see if i can unlock the bootloader and or if anyone knows a way i can root my device without the bootloader that would be great too but i think ive expended all my options..... if you can help in any way that would be great! thank you
also i have flashtool downloaded but can not get it to work with my device just keeps saying my bootloader can not be officially unlocked ..... can it be unofficially unlocked?
You have to use the Xperia M2 method to unlock the bootloader as there is still no official way.
There are more than enough guides in other topics where you can read how to unlock your bootloader. First enter the service menu(*"*"service"*"*) and check is it is allowed on your device. If it says 'no' there is no way to unlock. Also if you can unlock don't forget to tick the box in developer options
For root you can afaik just install twrp for locked bootloaders and flash a root (supersu for example)
thanks guys ,
yes i have looked into the tutorials and cannot seem to make it work.
i tried the m2 method and nothing either ..... my bootloader says it cannot be unlocked but ive been reading and apparently there is a way to get around it .... ive successfully flashed different ROMS to try and gain root access too but with no luck
so i guess im asking if anyone has had luck with unclocking there "locked" bootloader on an m4 or if it is even possible at all?
any help is greatly appreciated
