Hello all,
Today my micro HDMI to HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI adapter arrived. I put the lot together and attached it to my monitor, but it doesn't work... The Prime says that micro HDMI is connected when the cable with adapter is attached to the screen, but the screen doesn't pick up the signal.
I haven't tried putting the HDMI cable into a TV or so, because I have none...
btw. I'm on the latest update (.15?)
My panasonic tv didn't recognize the connection until i plugged it in to the extra hdmi port on the side of the tv. I don't know what the deal was, but I am glad it worked eventually.
Try another tv or monitor, it could be a compatibility issue.

I just found a MHL cable for the SGS2 on Amazon with Micro-USB to HDMI.
I have a Samsung HDTV bought about a year ago. Now i know that MHL means you can charge as well as view the phone stuff on the screen but MHL TVs have not released yet (i think, and even if they have i wont be getting one anytime soon).
So my question is can i still see the TV out if i use the MHL cable on my older TV? I know it definitely wont charge.
Anyone?? :S
yes you can.
all you need is the adapter from MHL (micro-USB) to HDMI, connect the HDMI to the TV and you are good to go.
the advantage of the original samsung adapter is the ability to connect a power cable to the adaptor and charge the phone while it transmits the picture to the TV.
hope i helped
Thanks mate
For anyone confused, an MHL cable is a Micro USB to HDMI cable - no ifs, no buts, this will transmit HDMI from a compatible MHL port. Nothing else needed (except I believe it must also be connected to power)
Your micro USB port on the bottom of your SGS2 is an MHL/USB port, and will therefore work.
Important to note is that not all micro USB ports are also MHL ports, therefore will not necessarily work on some other micro USB port on a different phone.
Hi guys, i bought the MHL adapter from T-Mobile's website for the Sensation 4G (i have an Evo 3D). I set everything up, plugging the MHL adapter into my phone, standard HDMI into the adapter and TV, and the usb cable into the adapter...
After plugging everything in nothing happens. I even tried playing a video and nothing occurred. How do i activate the video out? Do i just have a bad MHL adapter?
A few questions. Does the battery icon on the phone show it is charging? This means that power is going to the adapter and to the phone. If not, try changing power adapters. If the charging icon is there, then try changing HDMI cables. If this doesn't work, you might have a bad MHL to HDMI adapter.
with your tv off, plug your mhl adapter into your phone, plug your power cable into the adapter, turn your tv on and bam! (note that the hdmi doesnt display the lockscreen)

My lockscreen shows and boot animation , Also to OP ...the hdmi mirroring is not as stable as HDMWIN is for the OG Evo imo, i had to play with it a bit to first get a picture on my Sammy (unplug/replug/reboot etc.)...then i got pic without sound (OG worked w/audio), ended up running hdmi through my Yamaha amp and that worked. Still not as stable as my 4g evo....LAME
btw I've read usb can't be plugged into pc for powering, must be plugged into wall adapter

my macbook pro powers it fine. weird.
I was using it with my stand that had a video on/off button to turn the display on an off. Everything was mirrored fine but I had no audio and hulu was intentionally shutting off the hdmi before any video played. Are they blocking media streaming apps from displaying through the mhl adapter? Oh an i powered mine by pluging it into my ps3.

Funny that you ask this. I just got an MHL adapter off of Amazon that was just the adapter itself (micro USB one end, female HDMI on the other).
I connected the HDMI cable to my TV and MHL adapter, then I connected my MHL adapter to my phone. Last but not least, I connected my power adapter directly to the MHL adapter and my phone started charging.
The input should be immediate from your phone but if it doesn't, check the following:
1. Make sure your TV is on and the input is selected for the proper HDMI port. If nothing is detected, the TV should report that it's receiving no signal.
2. Make sure the power cable is plugged into your MHL adapter. From my experience, it will not push out the HDMI signal without external power.
3. From my experience, you have to connect your phone to the MHL adapter LAST. NOt sure why but if everything else checks out fine and your phone still isn't pushing out a signal, reconnect the phone to the MHL adapter. You should get an HDMI icon on your top bar.
I have the EVO3D stock.
Everything works fine for me (pictures, music, video) except Netflix. For some reason Netflix looks extremely pixellated. Not quite sure why when everything else looks fine.
Hi guys,
I ve got a HDMI adaptor and cable for my S2 and it is working fine on the TV with HDMI, just wondering if I can connect S2 to the telly without HDMI socket?
There is no cable for that. Or use an HDMI cable with a DVI converter on top of it?
Google for HDMI to composite. There's loads of cheap leads to do this.

I am also trying to find how to cheaply connect S2 to a crt tv with either scart or composite RCA - does't look possible without high cost below taken from a web site but not allowed to post link as I'm a new user!:
HDMI To Composite Cable is sought by many people nowadays. People who have old technology equipments try to connect them with brand new HDMI-ready devices. Most old devices are using either composite cable, analog cable, or S-Video cable.
HDMI To Composite CableSome people think that they are able to convert the digital signal from HDMI end to several analog signals in the other end. The truth is, while you clearly can connect wire-to-wire, which simply won’t work. There is no possible solution to convert digital to analog signal without using a converter box. When you see HDMI To Composite Cable sellers claim to be able to convert the digital to analog signal directly without a converter box, they mostly scam and don’t work.
So, is it possible to convert the digital signal to analog signal? The answer is yes, but you can’t use a simple HDMI To Composite Cable. You need a converter box. It will do the conversion from digital to analog without a breeze. You may find them on the market labeled as HDMI To Composite Converter, HDMI To S-Video Converter, HDMI To 3 RCA Converter, HDMI To 5 RCA Converter, HDMI To Composite 3 RCA / S-Video Converter Adapter, but simply not as HDMI To Composite Cable only.
hdmi uses digital signal, so you can use a DVI adaptor but that's it.. (or digital component but that's ultra rare)
to use analogue (scart, composite, component, s-video) you'll need a digital-to-analogue converter box and they cost around £30 from ebay.. you're better off putting that money towards a new LCD with hdmi
Just tried watching a movie on my phone on the girlfriend's tv and got nothing... it's really annoying me now too.
-Plugged hdmi into each of the 4 ports on the tv in case was a bad port
-Tried 2 different phone chargers into a power strip AND tried extension cord from wall (nothing was open directly in the wall)
**Got nothing from those steps**
-Plugged adapter in to pc monitor with hdmi input and charger directly to wall, got picture
-Plugged hdmi into dvd player to test the tv, got picture
My first thought is the charger isn't getting a good connection to the powerstrip because the plug in front of it kinda prevents it from going in all the way - HOWEVER the phone does receive power and charged through it.
But that's why I tried an extension cord right off the wall, so not sure what it could be.
Does the TV have to be newer and support an mhl adapter? I thought you had MHL which required the TV to support AND then there was the adapter that worked with all hdmi (thus it being an adapter).
Does ICS not support DIV-I/D out? When I ran a different tablet with HoneyComb, HDMI out to a DIV-D projector, it worked just fine.
I've been running an assortment of cables and adaptors with confusing results.
The base line was my original tablet (no longer available for testing) which had Honeycomb and a full HDMI out. I have an HDMI to DIV-D cable that ran to my BenQ W100 Projector and worked fine.
Introduce the Prime with it's Micro HDMI and I've tried the following...
Micro HDMI to Standard HDMI adapter - HDMI to DIV-D cable - *Fail*
Micro HDMI to DIV-D adapter - DIV-D to DIV-D cable *Fail*
Micro HDMI to VGA Adapter - VGA to VGA (to a different projector) *Works*
My W100 doesn't have VGA, but the work projector does (but no DIV-D connection).
I don't have a wide enough assortment (or consistent enough) to eliminate variables and pin down the exact point of failure.
I also spent a fair amount of time searching the forum and google, but not finding this exact issue.
Thoughts?
Nil success for me as well.
Tried micro hdmi to hdmi to hdmi coupler to hdmi to dvi; and,
Micro hdmi to hdmi to hdmi/dvi converter.
