Getting a new phone for my birthday, on the 27th. I either pick one now or wait for something else, which would be the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Now, if I pick something now, I have no idea what I would get, but I really wanna wait for the Galaxy S2. That being said, I can't get it if it's not coming out for like 6 months, but if it's only gonna be like 2 months, then that's okay.(For US that is...I would buy from UK but price are showing $650+)
As for the price, I don't have any upgrades available, but since it's my birthday, parents will pay for around $150. I start work tomorrow at Target(starting pay at $7.50 too!) and so I hope to save for that, but I don't know if I'll have enough if it's gonna be like $600.
So what do you guys think about the release date and price?
Everything is pointing to within two months
As for a US-Specific version? Who knows. ATT could drag their feet on their model.
The US models are typically cheaper than the international models though- the original SGS was the same way. International version/unlocked rates are $100-200 higher than the Captivate here in the US.

Well, considering it's a quad band device I'm hoping the US carriers don't demand changes.
My captivates screen just cracked(nasty fall) no insurance so i got att retention to give me an early upgrade and have the htc inspire for $75 with a 2 year. I will have another upgrade in april i plan on using for the SGS2 but who knows if it will be out by then. If it isnt then im selling my inspire useing my upgrade on a iphone and then reselling it and bam should have enough for the god of all phones the SGS2.
well thats my plan anyway

I don't know if it's still going on but amazon had it for $60 and you didnt need a new contract. But you already bought it, so oh well.

March 27 birthday here
Well, turns out I get a phone upgrade in June. At least I'll be able to see some reviews before I get it. Or maybe it won't be out yet and I can still be one of the first people to get their hands on it!

I wouldn't waste my time with feature-deprived, carrier-bloat, delayed-updates, contracts, or any of the headaches that come with the US cell carriers.
I will personally never buy a contract phone again. You lose all leverage against the carrier. For example, my family has reduced price cable and free movie channels because we threatened to switch providers.
Sent from my Captivate.

Heres why i Think contracts give you more benefits and leverage.
they dont want you to cancel in contract or not they will still do the same to help you. ATT bloatwhere is the worst tho.
-Never get angry
-be kind to the rep(treat them how you would like to be treated)
-tell them you dont want to leave att but you dont really have a choice if you cant get your issue resolved.
-if the rep still doesnt budge tell them you want to cancel service. this will get you transfered to the save team a.k.a retention. Now these people have the power.
-once you have retention online chances are you will get what you want and more trust me.
I used to work for att. I know all the ins and outs. Retention department is key. ATT gives credits like nothing. when my captivate just broke I got them to give me my upgrade now instead of july waived upgrade fee(which is BS anyway) and $30 off my bill for the next 6 months (180) not to mention when i left them i had my friend/coworker put the best company discount on my account which happens to be coca cola. so I also recieve 28% off my primary line and I believe a smaller percentage off data planes. it saves me $50 plus every month off my bill. Just gotta know how to work the system. I dont know why they are so generous but i tried doing things like this on my fathers vzw account and they will not budge. I love ATT and wont part with them. I have another upgrade on another line come april this year which will be used for galaxy S2. much rather sign a 2 year and pay $200 over $800 for international version when im gonna just root it and put my own rom on there any way.
If anyone is having trouble with att. PM and I will give you some advice.
they did crack down on the company discount thing tho you do have to show proof i am grand fathered in tho.
ill be happy to help
Err, guys? Has anyone else noticed that Wikipedia lists April 1st as SGS II release date for the US?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II
I dont think that means anything. 1. April is already listed there since 20th february.

I'm stoked about getting an international version of a phone instead of one from AT&T. Its been a long time since I've had one like that.
Living in the US, any ideas when/where we can preorder?

Just sold my Atrix, loved it but that locked bootloader and the underwhelming screen kinda annoyed me. I am willing to pay extra for an international version SGS II that will work on AT&T's 3G bands.

I got my GF an Atrix on release day to replace her Nexus 1. She used it for a week and absolutely hated it (lots of problems) so we swapped it for an Inspire. So far she's fine with that.
We'll know more at CTIA but it may be pretty late in the year considering the previous Galaxy S US version was also announced at CTIA only to be released in July for T-Mobile.
I am guessing 1st week of May. usually 4 to 6 weeks behind Europe They will pay 830 so minus VAT 581 USD
Figures are not definitive but just a observation. I have a friend who is a district manager for a few Sprint stores in the Tri-State area of PA, DE & NJ where I live. Not corporate stores, but those authorized retail stores. A few of his stores reside in some of the more popular shopping malls in the area. Anyway I was at one of the stores yesterday picking up a new battery for my Epic & I asked how the 3D was selling compared to the Evo 4G & he said they weren't selling anywhere close to how the OG Evo did last year. Not even that many people coming in asking for it. He said a couple of the stores still had original stock from release day, where as last year they couldn't keep them in any of the stores. He also said that he has seen more returns for the phone also. Not for the locked bootloader but other reasons. So that magic number of 10%, that people around here keep tossing around as the percentage of people who actually want a unlocked bootloader may be actually higher when you factor in that the phone isn't selling like Sprint/HTC thought. Like I said in the begining, none of this is definitive, just a observation from a friend who is in the know, at least at the 10 or more stores he oversees.

I dont think the bootloader has much if anything to do with it. The reason is simple really.. when the Evo came out last year it was the first and only of its kind. There werent any other 4G phones out with the massive screen. It took the other carriers a while to catch up but now you have Tmobile with its own Sensation, Verizon with its own Thunderbolt, Charge, Iphone and soon to be Bionic. AT&T with its own Infuse, Inspire, Atrix, Captivate, etc. So the Evo doesnt really have anywhere near as much luster now as it did a year ago. Add to that the fact that a ton of people are still locked into contracts and there's your answer.
I knew they didnt expect sales to be big when they allowed employees to get the phone only 3 days after it released so im really not surprised and I dont think they are either.
If anyone actually thought the 3d would sell better then the og EVO is dilusional.
The 3d wasn't as heavily marketed and hyped like the OG EVO also. And yea the EVO was first of its kind.

I totally agree. Back then the Droid and EVO where really the only ones that stood out...now the rest of the others played catch up, and the field is scattered with selection of phones that are nearly identical to the OG EVO. Now we have a huge selection of them AND we still have the OG EVO. Sales are good..nbut not nearly the amount of the original. Also...how many really have the cash to upgrade. If they do not have full upgrade? I mean...contracts are 2 years and many of them still have another year or so to go. I still have mine left with 14. Months to go. I paid cash for. mine and after I sell my OG EVO still cost me money. But I did not use a upgrade..beings I do not have one. My 2 cents worth
The EVO was under produced. That's why everyone was sold out...
tapa tapa tapa
I hate to finally admit it, but my 2 3D's are going back tonight. I love the phone, We are taking them back simply because the data from Sprint in the Buffalo area is unusable - Web pages take minutes to load, cant stream radio, etc ...
All Sprint can tell me locally is 4G towers should be up by the end of the year - but by that point Ill be locked into a contract and if they fail to upgrade, Ill be stuck.
I hate that the return will reflect on the phone due to a return, but its not the phone in our case.

Sprint would have given you an upgrade if you would have asked for one.

Don't forget that alot of evo4g users are in a 2yr contract and probably weren't aware of the option to upgrade to the 3d for a limited time. Also the evo4g may be enough phone for a lot of people as well.

Consider also the fact that those who got the 4G are still on the 2 year contract. Those who actually lurk these boards may have taken advantage of the upgrade reset.

I did....many, many times...at corporate stores..private ones and online. Then I figured...it was not worth to lose it. And the upgrade was just as expensive as to purchase one...400 for the evo 3d..subtract 250 for my old evo...150 dollars. I started with sprint nov of last year. 150 was just right to get me in.

Where are you having trouble with the service? I moved from Buffalo not too long ago and I got great service from Sprint there. I used to live just off Hertel near Military and never had any issues. Really the only places that I didn't get good service were east of the zoo, and out past Amherst.
Anyway, on topic... Of course they didn't sell as well, as everyone else has stated, they just aren't as "wow" as they were last year. Many people also just simply don't have the full upgrade yet, and aren't willing to pay the extra money.
Your friend who is in the know? Lol. Does he go around to the stores? Or does he just tell the managers what to do? Try asking someone who spends a lot of time in the stores...
I have to disagree on some of those points. I never said the bootloader had anything to do with it. I said that the supposed number of 10% of people who want a unlocked bootloader is a lot larger when you figure in that the phone hasn't sold a lot of units. I don't think people being locked into contracts had much to do with it. The Hero and Moment were big sellers and a lot of people upgraded from those phones to the Evo which came out barely a year later. (Hero - Oct. '09/Moment - Nov. '09/Evo 4G - June '10) And if you don't think that HTC/Sprint anticipated this being a big seller you are being foolish. What company doesn't bank on following a successful phone with another one? You think Apple goes into production assuming that the next iPhone isn't gonna sell at least the same amount if not more than the previous version? If that was the case why spend the money to develop and put in a new processor, GPU, screen, 3D camera, more RAM....Why even call it the Evo? You include all of those new features and call it the Evo hoping to bank on the name and success of the OG Evo IMO. I mean I'm no business major but that sounds like good business to me.

Actually he does a lot of travelling. I usually call or text him when I have a problem to see which store he is gonna be in and what time. If he is gonna be out of the area he usually lets the tech/sales person at the store nearest to me to expect my visit.
this is true bc i was conversing, friendly btw, with the girl at the sprint store i went to. long story short, i asked about reservation amounts. She said the Evo tore this phone apart in first day sales, not even close. Anyways to add a funny note, she goes okay im going to update your phone with this OTA. Im like no i dont want it thank you. Shes like why are you going to root it? I was like oh man if only my girl was interested in this stuff lol, na jk. But it was pretty cool to meet someone like that.

I need a friend at a Sprint store. Any Sprint employee's in NC want to be my friend
So he doesn't sell... he does a lot of traveling... spends his time in a care or whatever he uses to travel. He looks at reports and goes around to make sure people are in uniform, the stores are clean and addresses any concerns with employees. I'd say less than 10% even know what a bootloader is... you're wrong, he's wrong, stupid thread that has nothing to do with anything. You just think you're right because you think he's "in the know"... Come on now...
There are more returns on the 3D? False.
4G outsold the 3D in mass numbers? True.
So let's say 30 - Evo 4G's were sold in a month and let's estimate that there is a 1 in 9 return rate... do you're at approximately... 3. So around 10%...
Let's say 10 - Evo 3D's sold in a month... and to be honest, I'm making these numbers up. But I can personally say that I've never seen one returned... So that makes it 0%. Maybe 1 might be returned in the next week and a half... but there's nothing proving that there are more returns...
No one in this thread, including myself has provided any sources for numbers. Everyone is pulling numbers out their asses.
Not a single 3D has been returned at the store I work at. That's a actual number. 0.
How many went out, I can't say. But I can say release day stock was sold out and fulfilled by pre-orders within a hour of store opening.
We've been lucky to keep 1-2 in stock.
So it looks like Sprint will be rolling out a new handset program that will allow us to upgrade to a new phone every 6 months at the 2 year discount price! Cannot wait to hear the details but I am sure it will be costly somehow.
Look towards the bottom of the article at Sprint Rewards Me

How is this going to effect development?
I mean. Developers getting phones cheaper is always good. But that also gives everyone that itch to jump to the newest phone sooner. So, development might only be good for 6months. I dunno...

So long as it isn't unreasonable? ****ing A right I am. That will keep me from jumping through upgrade hoops, adding lines, suspending lines, paying for buyback programs, finding a buyer, using a case, giving a ****, I'll be able to afford to keep or 2 phones back (the best ones) as backup instead of a generation or 3 ago....
So long as it isn't a gigantic form of anal rape in dollar-sign form I'm in.
I pulled the info below from the link above. Also when I did a search of "sprint rewards me" it seems to go with what is posted below, though I hope it will be for customers as well! Wheres Virus to chime in on this?
C/P
Unless something really changed, Sprint Rewards Me isn't for customers, just employees. SRM is a site employees can log into to claim sales for extra incentives like bonus cash and contest entries. I'd imagine the "New Every 6 Mos." is also an employee only perk since previously a lot of 3rd party Sprint employees were stuck with the standard upgrade program (though they had a great plan discount).
Source: Used to work for a 3rd party Sprint retailer
END C/P
First, I want to point out that one of the comments on the source page ia from someone who states that they used to work for a 3rd party sprint retailer. they state that the program which is being referenced, "sprint rewards me", is a program for people in sprint sales. They didn't claim to know for a fact that this program would only be for customers but did say that it has traditionally been the name of an employee sales program....As far a I can see that probably makes sense. The sprint playbook is something which goes out to sprint employees and retailers, not customers. They highlight the word "YOU" when it says that there is a new program to reward "YOU". Since playbook is sent to employees, not customers, seems they are talking to employees.
Sprint is really starting to fall in line with the other carriers. I don't think that this is a good thing. Think of all things changed just this year. You used to be able to get annual upgrades with sprint premier plans, now they tier the plans so most people no longer qualify. They also added the 10$ "premium data fee" to all smart phones. Now they are raising etf and eliminating one year contracts...pretty much all the reasons I switched to sprint have been eliminated less than a year after signing my contact with them. Don't get me wrong, I plan to stay with sprint even though I could leave etf free. But they are quickly becoming just like every other carrier whereas they used to offer something special. The only thing they offer now is unlimited data without throttling and slightly lower plan prices. But honestly my speeds with sprint are slower than T-Mobile's throttled speeds, do that isn't much of a selling point until they straighten out their network speed issues.
The point is they used to be something special but are quickly becoming another member of the pack. They had better not raise prices or throttle/limit data or they will almost certainly get put out of business by big red or at&t.

Sure! All you gotta do is have at least 10 lines or be on a plan $150 a month or more.
This is really cool. I hope it works the way I'd like.

Sprint’s “Rewards Me Plus” Program is for Employees Only
Posted by: Scott Webster
SEPTEMBER 1, 2011
Yesterday saw a Sprint Playbook leaked online which shows what the carrier will be doing over the next few months. Among the details in the playbook were notes of new devices, policy changes, and a rewards program. Called "Rewards Me Plus" it was described as a new phone at full discount, twice a year. While it sounds incredibly awesome to get a new device every six months at the 2-year pricing, it's not something us consumers will be seeing anytime soon. Unfortunately, this is an employee program designed to ensure the sales staff is always current with the new hot (Android) phones. TechHog was able to confirm the details with a Sprint source who advised that general customers can still work towards becoming a Gold Premier member and earn a yearly upgrade.
Sounds too good to be true to me.

I myself work for Sprint and yes that is an employee only deal.

No, it won't be for SWAC.
OK, #1, yes I know the forum rules (Not to bash, keep it clean, no religious stuff............) and I have not in my years here, broke them! BUT, I feel every now and then, I should be entiled to a free one? Today is that day!!
I say f**k Sprint! I was over at SprintFeed.com and Sprint has announced the EOL (End of Life) for Photon next month! I will tell you exactly why this pisses me off!!
#1 (Yea I know #1 is above, im starting over!). I went out and got the damm Evo for $500.00 summer of 2010. Last summer, Sprint blasted the TV with the Evo 3D but only one or 2 commercials for Photon. Photon, IMO, was and is, 100 times better than3D in every way, But Sprint blasted the damm Evo. I dont need a toy, I need a bussiness phone that will assist me in getting the job done. So I pay $638.00, no contract for Photon with 4G August 2, 2011.
#2. I work in IT, I have million $$$ ideas all the time, but it takes me 6 months to a year before anything actually gets done (plan, summary, approval, check, delivery) Therefore, with the November announcement of LTE, they knew damm right well when get got our phones, many of us, me included, did not have 4G and never would have it!! So the sales was entierly a lie!!!! (And to be honest, I cannot recall a TV commercial after August but I still see crap for the toy 3D!)
#3. If end of life is next month, then Q3 ICS is more smoke getting blown up our a**es!!
#4. With this announcement, my $638.00 Photon just became a worthless paperweight! Why? How much are you willing to pay me for my Photon, knowing that if it breaks or f**k's up one week later, your SOL? Seriously? This goes for anything in life! Would you pay top dollar for a I.B.M Thinkpad you know I.B.M no longer supports? NO!!!!
#5. Why is the original Evo still supported, but we did not even get a year? How come everyone got unlocked bootloader and ROM's out the a**? What did we get? Not a damm thing!!! (The development team here worked hard, but Sprint showed no support for them at all!!!)
#6. Also on SprintFeed.com, HTC and Sprint have big announcement April 4th where it is expected they will announce the new EVO for June 10th release date. If the spec's are whats expected, I will jump ship. Whats that gonna cost me?
#7. All so on that website, Wall Street had lowered the boom on Sprint. This means 2 things. They don't have the money they claim they have and could go bankrupt. and what happens to the LTE project and will I ever see 4G?
I just think, IMO, that this is a complete slap in the face to every Photon owner!!!
End of Rant!!

Huh, that's so weird, my Photon is still working great. I hope the devs here at XDA can come up with some kind of mod that blocks the worthless paperweight update.
Its not that serious bro, its just a phone. I love my photon and there's nothing sprint can do to change that.

Dude!!!..... I can't complain abut my Photon, the 4 months or so it has been with me has NEVER let me down one bit, to this day it is the BEST phone I have ever owned, the international capabilities which I was finally able to try on a trip to Mexico last week made me love it even more. I was able to use a Telcel Sim card and used all the features in my phone with no problems no errors no nothing.
(Actually to my surprise Telcel's 3G speeds are awesome compared to Sprint's)
But sadly every phones has an EOL and technology is improving every second..
I don't really see the point of even have a fit about it LOL
Seeing that I no longer work for Sprint I have no issue saying this. Sprint half-assed the handling of the Photon since day one. Considering Sprint's history with Moto Android phones they had no faith in Moto's product and made no real effort to support or push the Photon. This started before the phone was ever released.
Sprint had the update fix for the silent call bug over a month PRIOR to the release of the Photon. Instead of pushing the update on launch day they held off for a month before releasing the fix. So you have a new phone with a major bug that didn't get fixed til after the crucial launch month window had passed. Result, a new phone that doesn't work for enough people to kill sales.
Sprint advertising and sales training was also almost nonexistant. In many cases it was "and Moto makes phones too but who cares" kind of approach. I had setup a live WebTop display running Firefox streaming HULU in the store I worked in. Customers thought it was the Evo 3D and didn't even know the Photon even existed. The first response when told it wasn't the 3D was "Yeh but the 3D can do that too." and very rarely could you convince them otherwise.
In short, Sprint could care less if they ever sell another Moto Android phone and have treated the Photon with that mindset from the start. They can now go back to Moto and say "Look, your crappy phone doesn't sell so no Sprint for you."
Just because it will reach EOL status doesn't mean a whole lot to me. I started with the original Droid on Verizon and EOL was reached a loooong time ago on it and a small update was recently available for it! And there is still development going on for it as well. As long as we have some good devs that still care about it, EOL status is irrelevant.
oh well, fun while it lasted, i upgraded to the photon over my OG evo, loved it since day one, i recently went back to my EVO 3D, so when the ICS update comes out (as promised i hope) i'll update my photon and go back to it, but when it's completely gone, all i'll say is, i have a rare sprint phone (just like my echo) that not a lot of people have, and wait for the newest smartphone to come out
You do realize that all Wimax phones will be going EOL come about Summer when lte launches. And everybody else is right EOL just means they start to pull inventory from the stores no biggie. like the evo shift, epic, nexus, and trender i work at a store and we haven't gotten a shipment for them in 2 weeks and we are out.

Agreed
As I'm sure MOST people who own a MoPho agree, this phone needs much more love from the dev community, I love this phone in it's natural form! I had an OG Evo 4G and modding it was the only thing I could do to keep it up and running. This phone KILLS IT out of the box! The Tegra 2 is incredibly smooth.
I really want ICS for it, but I'll have this MoPho for A LOT longer than my crap EVO.
Signed,
A faithful first time Moto owner

Also, If this phone IS EOL soon, does that mean it WILL get unlocked? Just curious if they didn't care about a phone anymore, they would UNLOCK the bootloader for us.

Nope. It means no updates, support or unlock from official channels. Sprint will still repair/replace it but short of PRL and critical security updates, the phone doesn't exist to Sprint after the EOL date. I'd also expect this to kill the ICS update as well as it will not have passed Sprint's internal "QC and testing" and I do not believe Moto has authorization for a direct push.

I really hope that's not true - since they've officially announced the ICS update for the Photon, I would hope they keep their word. Although I've been frustrated with all the dead links throughout the forums here, I have been still very happy with the Photon vs the Evo so far, it's an amazing device.
Sprint's got me barely hanging on by halving my bill while the network upgrades supposedly happen -- but if speeds don't increase and awesome devices like this aren't supported, I'll be joining the hordes jumping ship to Verizon.

I hope this works out for Sprint. In two years, no iDen or WiMax networks. That should greatly cut costs.
I use to love Sprint, but now it's just like they're in the business of hooking you in for the business and then coming up with ways to increase your bill. I use to have 5 lines, all qualified for the company discount, then only 2, and now only 1. I've transferred my phone over to Google, so that moving forward I can switch between companies with minimal inconveniences. Sprint essentially has no high-end world phones....
OK, Most of you are missing the entire point! I have NO problems with my Photon. I LOVE MY PHONE!!!
Go back and read post #5 and #10 by lokifish Marz. Sprint s**t on this phone from day 1!! I said it in my OP, he confirmed it as a ex-Sprint empolyee!!!
I will tell you a funny story. August 20th 2011 my power button fell out, so I had to use my finger nail to cut it on/off. Me and 2 co-workers took it to Sprint at the Garden State Plaza on RT4 in New Jersey. Chick tells me, "I have one of the tech look at it!" No problem. This idiot comes from the back and the first thing out of his mouth, "Have you had this phone for 30 days or less?" Just like lokifish Marz said, no training and no marketing!
As for XDA Development, most of the heavy hitters have jump ship and do cleanup work here (which we are thankful!)
Now the new EVO is something to brag about, no doubt. But August 1st of 2011, This was by far the best phone available from ANY carrier, and Sprint gave it no love!
EOL would kinda suck as I was planning to keep this until March when my contract is up, then re-evaluate if I want to keep Sprint.
On the other hand, I do remember back in September the Evo 4g was on the EOL list for October. It still has not gone EOL. Then again that was a far more popular phone.

Its back on the list for "Early April". I dont get why EVO 3D is not on the list and Photon is?
Before getting the Photon, I had a Droid Eris on Verizon and I went through the same thing. Thanks to the xda devs and community, I was able to squeeze 2 years out of it. Before rooting and loading a custom rom, using the phone was a nightmare.
I guess I'm getting used to, and have the unfortunate luck, of buying the devices that receive the least support down the road. I chose Sprint, because I thought they were somehow less evil than Verizon but corporations will be corporations.
I still hope the Photon will have a long life after losing official support. I love the phone itself.

This sounds very familiar to me, except for me it was the Palm Pre instead of the Droid Eris. I'm starting to think I'm a curse - if I like a phone, prepare for it to turn into a stepchild and let the bitterness begin. Maybe I should go buy an iPhone and see if I can kill it...

you feel the Nexus is a good upgrade from coming EVO?
Hello,
I didn't see anything in the rules section against this, but if it is against the rules I apologize in advance.
Since every other carrier is charging $299.99 for the Note 3 and Sprint it charging $349.99 I was hoping that we could petition Sprint to lower the price down to everyone elses level. I'm hoping that if I get enough people behind this a lot of people can save some money.
https://www.change.org/petitions/sprint-lower-the-2-year-contract-price-of-the-samsung-galaxy-note-3-to-299-99-like-other-carriers#
Thank you for looking and sorry if you disagree with me, I'm just a person trying to try not to get ripped off. If anyone on here has a reason for me as to why they are charging more for it than other carriers, please post it, but please post facts and have proof to back it up. Everyone gave me reasons on Sprints facebook page but no one wants to post any facts to back it up.
I am not on Sprint and never will be anytime soon but I signed it for you anyway
Good petition, promotes positive competition for us as consumers

Thanks for signing it. Apparently everyone else doesn't care how much they pay for a phone however.
Signed bro... as I said on the petition this is one of MANY reasons I switched over to T-Mobile, which actually is offering the N3 for $199 btw.
So much for all carriers are offering it for $299 eh?

That's 199 up front and $21 a month for 2 years! 21x24 is $504 plus the $199.99 up front and that's $703.99 over the two years.
Cool Petition though, I hope it gets you somewhere! **Signed**
Signed it for you as well, going to be ditching these guys soon anyway. Good luck.
Since when has a petition REALLY done anything in a situation like this?
If you really look at it, Sprint is not really any cheaper than verizon anyway.
voice-data coverage and speed once you do get data..
Sprint does offer unlimited data, but its more expensive than any other carrier for like 1% of
the coverage of any other carrier, and when you finally do find data its terribly slow.
Also, if you just wait a few weeks you can probably get it much much cheaper..
Signed. Thanks op

I'm in the UK and this will have no effect over here, however, I've still signed it. Hope the price comes down following this petition.
I'm on AT&T, but I can understand wanting the same price as others. Signed.
Signed it as I want the N3 soon.
I have never seen so many people worked up over $50 before. You'd think it was a bank breaker the way some of you guys are whining and threatening to switch to T-Mobile, which actually turns out to be full retail price if you know math.
I understand you want it to be the same across carriers, I get it. That would be ideal, but seriously guys, it's $50, not $100. Sprint won't care how many people sign this petition.

What's more fascinating is that people fall for it! And upgrade twice a year, when ever you want. But what happens to the balance from your last phone?? Yeah pay it off or your bills goes UP!

For some folks it the principle of the situation. For some others, they have no discernable arithmetic skills what so ever.
Yeah T-mobile I am bashing you....

I understand that, but when you think about how Sprint is the cheapest carrier out of the 4, their pricing strategy suddenly starts to make sense. I'd rather pay a lower monthly bill and have them continue to undercut the competition at the expense of $50 added to a contract phone than to have the phones be the same price across the board with higher monthly bills. They have to make money somehow. You can't continue stay competitive and lose out every quarter. That's stupid business.

Of course,
I am a Sprint customer as well, the $50 pricing discrepancy doesn't really sway me one way or the other. I have a unlimited and I have a family plan. I have priced the competition over the years and I haven't found anything close to what I pay over a calendar year.
I have come to terms with the Tri-band fiasco, I just wish they would come out and say something that made absolute sense about the how's and the why's... It's not 1995 anymore news and especially things like pricing and service related news, travels fast and then blows up into Sprint bashing fodder on various internet sites.
I had two people over hear a conversation I had last night and left T-mobile to join Sprint... Math skills ftw!!

So essentially they will give you a trade in value of whatever you owe (as long as the phone isn't smashed) and you start the new payment plan. Gotcha!
