Yes - Please Help!
It just happened to me the screen won't turn on.
Also the green led on the side flashes twice repeatedly.
Is there a fix for this? I can't use my brand new archos g9 turbo!
EDIT: After leaving it charging for a couple hours, it turns on. Yay!!
Now I'm going to put on 4.0.5 official and try to root from there

Are you sure your device is fully charged. Sometimes when the device completely dies, it takes a while to get it charged enough to turn back on

Did you enable temp root using pauls root? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21646973&postcount=2
If you did you need to disable it after permanent root is enabled
Use adb (remember to enable USB debugging)
adb shell rm /data/local.prop

Well yes I used it to enable sde and then I flashed a new rom so that should remove this file, and just to make sure I checked the file it's not there, another issue which is the freezing the tab freezes and doesn't respond to any command at all the after a while it does a reboot.. :banghead: .

More info: Here is the freezing combination: Archos music player + browser + facebook app, it becomes laggy and frezzes then reboots, please try this and see if this happens.

Sounds like its out of memory with all of them running. Try loading less and see if it stops lagging and rebooting.

turning off screen kills device

ive searched for things such as "sleep crash", "sleep bug", "screen wont turn on" etc. but can seem to find anything that tells me anything other than turn off wifi (which i tried to no avail). My issue is that when i press the power button for 1 second to turn off my archos 70 screen it will not turn back on. Same thing happens when i let it fall asleep. If i leave it plugged in and not allow it to turn off screen i have no issues. My apologies if i just don't know what words to search for ... i tried. In on the .4 firmware (latest) with no mods. This has happened through the last 3 firmwares from archos. Any ideas?
Have a you tried a full reinitialization (in settings > repair and formatting) and then reinstalling the latest firmware? If you have just been updating the firmware, the problem may have been deeper.
Thats strange... I have a similar issue with my 101: when i leave my tablet asleep for more than 20min, I can't turn it back on without doing a hard reset. Now it only happens when I simply shut off the screen and leave it alone. If I hold the power button and use deep sleep though, it works just fine. When I can't get it started I notice the little power light is on, but the screen stays black... any suggestions??
I have read somewhere in this forums that re-calibrating your screen from Settings might help, but I still didn't tied - if someone try please post results.

i had the same problem on my 32, albeit not that frequently. Downloading the FW and reflashing it seems to have made the problem go away.
You know what? Strangely enough after I replied to your post I downloaded the latest fw (2.1.4) and the problem seems to have gone away no special flash no repair I just installed and rebooted and so far no prob... I will keep testing this and post results
Edit* Ok so far so good... no problems. I'm actually surprised I'm getting better response from the device despite everyone's warnings about 2.1.4. But that's another topic. I think its just a bad install of your current FW, but I'm just guessing... My device has had the issue since I got it, I just decided to live with it but like I said the latest update fixed it... So it HAS to be the FW

err I'm afraid that I spoke too soo. My device keeps getting stuck and won't awake from sleep. This seems to happen most after switching wifi on or off, specifically whilst the device is playing music.

how are you installing the firmware? maybe im doing it wrong. I let the device update to latest 2.1.4 and then i wiped it via the settings and repair menu in android.
Edit**
like this??:
Step 1: Download the android 2.2 firmware for your archos tablet from here, you might a get a false positive notification from your browser as they are unaware of .AOS format, so ignore that and download it.
Step 2:Go to Menu > Settings > Device Storage & USB connection > USB connection mode of your tablet and set the connection mode to Mobile Media Device (MTP) and now connect your Tablet to pc.
Step 3:Now when the tablet is detected you will see a hard drive icon, double tap and open it and copy and paste the firmware (.AOS) file into the hard drive(make sure you dont copy it in any folder inside it like Music,Videos etc).
Unplug the USB connection and the Archos device will automatically locate the update file and will prompt you for the update, just follow the screen options and you are done,if it does not prompt you for an update then you might have accidentally misplaced the file in one of the folders, just locate the .AOS file from the file manager and and open it to start the update.
No no it wasn't that complicated... It was actually the simplest fix for a difficult problem. My device when I got it was running 2.1.2 out the box... Even then It had the screen problem. When I got the chance I installed 2.1.3 OVER THE AIR. Straight from Archos. Still had the issue though, I figured it would have been fixed but was greatly disappointed... Then I sort of just lived with the problem for awhile... I saw that the 2.1.4 update was released but was wary about downloading it because sooo many people are having issues. Just the other day though, the device cut off on me again and I figured to hell with it... So I downloaded the 2.1.4 OTA as well... no website, no manual install, I just let the device run its course on its own. After the update, it rebooted normally and it's been working great since... Sorry to hear not everyone is so fortunate... I really hope this helps somewhat

[Q] Blank Screen

Hey guys i need some help...i am running a rooted tbolt that the screen isnt turning on....like when i start the phone it acts like its booting up but there is no htc screen or anything....i cant get into recovery cause the screen stays blank....any suggestions????
Thanks
Does the phone work, does it even boot into the OS at all?
See if ADB will recognize the device in the booting stage. If it does, try doing either:
adb reboot recovery
or
adb reboot bootloader
If you can get into either of these, your in business
the phone like "acts" like it is on but the backlight is just not coming on...like i still get what i think are texts like it will ring when called and if i swipe down i am able to answer the call....so i dont think that it is the rom that i have on it but something more hardware

Have you recently put and left any img. zip on the root of your sd card.
This can have a similar effect. If you did you can remove it using another phone or an adapter on your pc.

I did have the last zip that i used and i have removed that...after it should i just have to restart the phone after a battery pull????
If you removed that you should be able to boot it up to bootloader and restore your backup.

[Q ]When go in sleep = reboot

Hello
sorry for my english.
When I'm not plugin with the usb power connected, I've got a stranger behaviour very disturbing.
When my device goes itself or by on/off push buttons in sleep, automatically it reboot itself.
So, if I let him alone, the battery fall down very quickly, and I have to wait the rebooting before to use it.
I've read something which could help me here, but not enought : "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184852"
. Do you think, it could come from Avast?
. I tried different ROM official and no unficial, sill the same. The thing strange, and after a official instal, the behaviours has desapear until i reboot.
Archos 80 Gen 9
3.2.79 from surdu_petru
In advance thank you.
A first solution : airplane mode
Bonjour,
I've found this solution http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=53186
Put your device in airplane mode. Go in sleep (black screen). Push the ON button. Remove airplane mode. It's working! I don't know why?
It's not efficient for me. I have to know why, and how to solve it!
If you restart your device, and the WIFI was activated, you have to do it again.
Let's see what happen in the few day.
It has worked only one time.
In fact, if I let Avast make a scan or i let a music player, every thing is all right.
I do not understand what's happen....
decrase the Brightness
Nop
Thanks you for this answer but it didn't work. I decrease the brightness but same behaviour.
Mine has done the same thing. It's annoying. Just won't wake up, have to reboot. On newest FW too.

Mine's bone stock. Haven't done anything to it yet besides the factory firmware update. Was about to start rooting it, but haven't yet. About to hit up your thread to get that going. I DID have it airplane mode today, as I was on an airplane, hit the button, came right up. There's something to that...

Thanks
To add some information -
I have done your procedure : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456875
. Step 1: Gain temp root - OK Every works corectly (I only used the original post from Paul's root)
. Step 2: Enable SDE and Permanently root your tablet I do not did the last step below :
15. Turn off your device again and boot back into recovery
16. Select Developer Menu > Remove android Kernel
17. Accept warnings (MEDIA & APPS WILL BE UNAFFECTED)
18. Reboot. Your device will now boot the rooted edition every time

. Other thing, my archos do not seam to be rooted : When I'm trying to use titanium, it explain that it should be not rooted.
I've changed the method to the right one. Check my thread

No
I tried 3 times. but still the same behaviour.
After a reboot or after that I install a appli, same behaviour. Very supprising.
Do you have any idea?
Cool
Trop bien!
It seams that the v 3.2.80
which have this correction : Hard drive based products: avoid suspend/resume issues happening sometimes
correct effectively those wrong behaviour.
I will confirm you next week that it's "SOLVED"
I'm trying this update tonight!
I like this tablet, except the damn sleep of death, which I JUST had to go through to boot it up to check the firmware version. If that gets fixed, I can permanently replace my Acer A100. It is the most annoying thing about this tablet. I do have a 250gb G80. Hope this does it.
So far so good, wakes right up. Need to let it sit for a bit and let it idle awhile.

After updating my GT-I9100 from Gingerbread to the official ICS 4.0.3 ROM I experienced random shutdowns as aforementioned. I also had the screen freeze and become unresponsive. Screen unresponsiveness only occurred the first two days, random shutdowns occurred for about a week. After a slew of additional app update notifications and subsequent updating, I no longer have the shutdown problem either. I originally upgraded through Kies on 4/20/2012 and by around 4/27/2012 I no longer have any issues. Btw, I'm on ATT in the U.S. and my phone is not rooted.
I did a factory reset and i noticed some things:
Self shutdown occurred only once.
The phone touch is considerably faster than gb.
The screen visuals are more vivid (i think thats because of my current wallpapers)
The apps load times are also faster, but the camera takes some time to load.
Tl;dr
I dont regret the hard reset but the shutdown happened once only after that.

Bad news... Shutdown twice this morning, after going into lock mode(click power button)
One thing i noticed is that he takes toooo muuucchhhh to boot when holding the power button when this hapens, so i have a theory that he actually doesnt shuts down, rather it jus wont turn on the screen. Im going to try to replicate it and send some kind of warning to one of my apps, or mail myself.

Indeed, it is not shutting down, but not waking the screen. This is known as the "sleep of death" (SoD) and has been discussed in dozens of threads already.
Usually caused by undervolting with values that are too low, but also occurs on some peoples phones when they are completely stock.
Changing kernel can sometimes help, or if you already have a custom kernel loaded, changing your voltage settings to be a bit higher on the 800mhz step.

Need some help! Screen won`t turn back on after standby mode!

Hi,
I can see that there are similar threads out here. But I can`t find ONE with a good answer about what can be wrong, and specialy how to solve the problem.
Like the other ones who have this problem I have a brand new Galaxy S3 who was not rooted. Stock ROM (Now I tried too root it, but still have the same problem.)
So, the problem is that when I press the power button to make the phone go to standby mode, it won`t turn back on from standby to normal mode again when I press HOME button or power button. What I have to do is hold in the power button until it has been restarted.
It looks like the phone uses alot of battery also.
The same problem can accure when I am talking in the phone. When I am about to hang up, the screen is completely black and I cant press anything, only the powerbutton to make a "hardreset".
Every problem can be solved, but many of them take a little bit more time to find a solution for.
So, can anyone please help me with this problem? It is driving me nuts!
(I have tried to switch of the wifi btw )
As previous thread, change the kernel. Rooting only not solve this problem..

I have now tried to put in a new kernel.
The Kernel is :
3.0.15-franco.Kernel
[email protected] #11
Build Nr.
Omega v9.0 - XXBLG1
I still have the same problem, when I have allot of battery ( 90-100 % ) there is no problem. But as soon as the battery reach 50 % or below, the phone wont wake up from standby mode.
What can I do? I hope that someone have a good answer and a solution for me and for everybody else who may have this problem.
Maybe to high clockspeed or undervolted to much? Could be a freeze. Or maybe a crashed system app.

Okey,
Since I am quite new at this with rooting and stuff, how can I fix my problem?
I am open for a total wipe of my phone if that can help.
But if it is so easy to set down the clockspeed or fix the undervolt I hope someone have a problem fix
If it is a system app the total wipe would fix it?

After I flash franco kernel the phone restarted it self and i tought that everything was done. I have not done anything else with the phone after that regarding flash..

I have 2 phones here.. One is mine and one is my friends phone. We have exactly the same kernel and the same rom.
Also the same modem.
Do you think to change the modem would help? I think it`s quite strange if we have exactly the same.
Maybe it would help to put in the ROM to wipe the phone? So the stock ROM would be gone.
I am going to find out this problem one way or another

I still have the same problem. I can not predict when the phone is going into freeze. Hope someone can find out what can causing the problem.
I have tried to observe how the phone is acting the couple of days.
It uses alot of battery. I take out the charger at 0800 at the morning.. When the clock is 1700 i have 20% battery.. This is after several restarts during the day..
It seems like if I put the phone in my pocket it freezes. Could be a coincidence.
The phone won't take charging when it has gone into "freezemode"..
This might help

I had a similar issue with the phone and what i do to make it go away is , after every restart , or battery pull , u let it sit for a second to load up everything then u open up u'r dallier and dial *#0011# this will take u to the service menu , once there u press the"menu" button on the phone and chose "WiFi" .. u should have a button there that says "On" with a blue line underneath , click on it then exit the menu and enjoy
as i understand this has something to do with the " power saving mode" for wifi , the problem for me started after i uploaded a huge amount of data to dropbox ... (40~ GB of photos and Videos) so i might of ****ed up the wifi chip or something
I found this to work after reading a few threads on the forum , it's not a permanent fix but it dose the job for me
I wold like to thank whomever came up with this , but i can't remember who it was
