Life Proof. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I haven't seen another thread on this so does anyone know if life proof has any plans for the note?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA

I tried a bunch of different ways to get a solid answer.
Best answer I had was "We are planning universal type cases that might work with your device"
I explained to them how over 1,000,000 international ones were already sold with the AT&T ones just coming on now.
I then voiced my concern that anything "universal" wasn't going to work for a 5.3-inch phone.
I also offered to take mine down there if they needed to get their hands on one for development.
In the end, they thanked me, and told me to keep an eye on their facebook page.
I, personally found the facebook page very uninformative.
The person I was emailing seemed on it, and I asked for an email if anything happened, but I'm not holding my breathe on either email or getting a case for it.

This is dissapointing as I have had their case for the iPhone and I really enjoyed using it in the shower lol and would love to have the same capability with my note.

[Q] battery case for SGSII

I am looking for something like a PowerSkin case( like the ones shown here) except for the ATT version of the SGSII. I am only finding cases that seem to be for the Sprint/ other carriers.
in other words i don't seem to see anything that says that it is specifically a battery power pack case that supports the ATT SGSII body.
i dont want the extended life battery and larger back cover configuration because i dont intend to need the power all the time, and its too bulky for day to day use. i intend to use the power skin here and there when i am in a pinch and need more juice.
thanks in advance!
Just sent an email asking if they're planning on coming out with a case for the sgh-i777 and/or the Atrix MB860. If I hear from them I'll be sure to post it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Lol. The response is not encouraging. It's a definite no for the Atrix.
Here's where it got funny. Had to convince the sales rep I had an At&t Galaxy S II. He didn't think it was available for sale yet. It was cracking me up because it's the phone I'm using to email him.
After convincing him I had one I haven't heard back. I'm taking that as a maybe. Cause if it was no I'd imagine he would have just told me straight up no like the Atrix.
I'll post if I hear more.

"Public Warning" Epilogue

I'm going to post this here because this is essentially where it all started, so I figure it's fitting.
This is basically an "Ending" to everything that happened on this thread Public Warning, Jaywan is Untrustworthy which is still up, but currently locked. I decided not to ask to have it opened again because I didn't want the chance for anything to be changed in that thread. Things got interesting at Page 30, and then started getting odd around the end. (Panda lol's)
In that thread I explained how my friend, and later 2 other people came forward stating that a phone being sold by a dev here was not shipped, and all communications stopped as soon as he received the money from each person. His explanation was that he went on vacation and left the shipping up to someone else. Page 28 he made an appearance, but, in my opinion, handled the comments from everyone else very poorly. by making threats of lawsuit, Tasteless jabs at the situation, and even an admission of insurance fraud
So, that is a recap of that thread... Oh, and did I mention Polar bears?
Here is how it all ended. Rugedraw was the only one that opted to go through with the purchase of "one" of the 3 he said he was selling. This is the message Rugedraw sent me on it's arrival "Hey, man.....I received the package today. The phone is as described. Boots up fine and has a 2.3.5-based Sense 3.5 rom on it. It even came included with an OEM HTC soft rubber case. I called Sprint and verified that the ESN is clean and the phone can be activated.
I have to say: I am 100% satisfied with the phone.
Who would of thought that last week, huh?"
So, he got what he paid for. But after everything, my friend and Faugnom1 weren't interested in possibly getting jerked around anymore and simply opted to have their money returned. Which Jaywan said in the thread he would do.
Paypal was never contacted by him on neither case. On Dallas's case, he had until Nov. 8th to respond or Paypal would rule in Dallas's favor. Which they did, He has had his money returned BY Paypal. faugnom1's case required a response on the 10th. This is what faugnom1 sent me:
faugnom1:"He said he would pay me by today, the same day my paypal thing is up. So if I dont hear from him in a few hours ill finalize the case.
Me:Did you just go thru withthe PayPal dispute?
faugnom1:Yeah never heard from him again after that one day. Paypal ruled in my favor.
So, Paypal disputed in both Dallas's and faugnom1's favor and they were both repaid.
on a personal note:Thank you to the community, the support was tremendous and I tried not to make it a witch hunt, and I know some Mods look down on this type of posting, but I felt it was being ignored and the post did bring 2 more people in who had the exact same thing happen. If everything is quietly handled, it allows the person to do it again, and then after that, maybe getting banned. If it's brought into the light I believe it serves the community better. If this happened to me, I went on vacation and left it all up to someone, I would feel horrible and give out as much info as possible. I don't want people to think I'm dishonest went I am not. It's not a matter of "IDGAF!!" it's a matter of "that's not who I am and I'll clear my name".
I'm baffled on how his account hasn't been banned (disabled and reenabled 2 times though). While, sure, this may have been all some big misunderstanding by some miracle of coincidences. Other members have been perma-banned for less. He made threats in a thread that was deleted by mods, made light of the situations, and was very combative and offered no forward explanation to anyone involved, only stating "if they want an explanation they can PM me" for someone who took 3 peoples money and then lost all contact with them, coming back with that attitude is shocking to say the least.
Thanks for filling us in.

Because Jaywan's account is still NOT BANNED, I'm PM'd a MOD to see if he can take care of it (ie perma banning that fool)
I believe the mods have better things to do than permaban his retarded ass. Like banning people for posting bad pictures or threating banning for using bad language or for flaming or arguing. Cause that's much worse than some dip**** that steals peoples money and shows how much of a douche he is.
Seeing as his account still isn't banned, it's safe to say that the moderators don't care. If they would at least stay out of the MP altogether, I wouldn't mind so much. It's the fact that they pick and choose when and how they will participate that bothers me.

I'm noticing that.
Tell a mod to "**** Off" = Perma Ban.
Steal money/commit fraud on members = Welcome back.

I noticed in the Wanting to Sell forum there is a way to leave feedback on a user. Felacio, you should leave some negative feedback on him so he doesn't try this stuff in the future.

The Galaxy Note exudes a coolness factor/Samsung did an awesome job advertising this

Almost every instance on using this phone in public, people either stop and stare or they ask questions. It isn't like I'm trying to bring attention to myself but everyone is always asking if that is the new note. I leave it on my desk at work and whenever people come into my office, I'm asked about it and they want to doodle with the stylus. I hope this interest turns into more sales so that Samsung is prompted to come out with more phones in this line in the future. I simply refuse to go to any other phone now.
If you watched any basketball this weekend, the commercials were constant. They certainly seem to expect good sales:
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsu...llion-galaxy-notes-hopes-10-million-years-end
If you seek attention, I'm sure you will find it.
Seems as if you either walk around waving this phone in the air or you are doing something to draw attention to yourself.
Its only a phone dude!
I get a kick out of these type of threads. I used to read them on the iPhone forums and laugh, but it seems the same type of people are here as well.
Probably a bit of an underage issue a well.
I've been using the latest phones and tablets for awhile now and have never had anyone come up to me and ask me about any of them . Those that say they constantly have people coming up to them at obviously seeking attention.

I smell bad but still get asked about my Note.
I got the note cause I'm fat and needed a big keyboard. So far the only ones to ask me about it are my close friends. Never have I had someone cone up to me or stare at me because of this phone.

Lol i got approached by a stranger the first day i got it at in & out burger. Whenever i play draw something with the s-pen, thats when people start to stare and i could hear em saying wow and omg thats a huge...(insert joke here). But put this phone next to your ear and you get strange looks.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
I had my phone out at Nordstroms looking at Google shopper for shoes I wanted. The salesman there asked if it was and I've probably been asked over a dozen times if its the note or wow that's huge what is it.

Your comment seems quite underage. Just because some people have strangers asking them about devices and you don't doesn't mean they are lying or looking for attention.
Really only a few devices in the recent past, such as the Droid RAZR, have received as much media attention and advertising as the Note, so all of your latest tablets and phones have likely not drawn the same attention from the general public. Therefore you cannot compare them to the Note.
I do not show off my phones, I use them. With my Captivate, I received no comments from strangers. With my Infuse, I had a couple, but only from people familiar with Android that were curious what brand and model it was. With the Note, same use and everything, I have received more comments and attention than the whole time I had both of my previous phone, in just two weeks. Dude in line at Chipotle, girl employee at Home Depot, several people I have never talked to in my classes here at college. This phone is turning heads whether you are looking for attention or not, so don't be a downer because nobody finds you approachable.

You guys are so funny, thought this would never happen to me.
Went to get my drugs at the pharmacy, and the 3 people behind the counter all came over to look at it and touch it, they asked the same questions. Yes it fits in my shirt pocket, and I let them try it.

i don't know about the Advertising
but after using it hands on for a few days I'm addicted, it's so hard to get back to my T989
I get a lot of looks, and some comments. mostly "is that a phone???", "is that the one with a pen?", or "Is that the Super Bowl phone?" (referring the commercials played at the Super Bowl).
I have a gold metallic case on it so most of the time it looks like I am carrying a huge gold bar. Funny the looks I get.
I get asked about it all the time. I'll just be sitting on the train or at the bar or something and I guarantee someone will ask about it.

It's definitely not the advertising. It's the fact that it's a larger phone. I used a Dell Streak for 1.5 years and got the same type of comments about it.

Not worth the time to comment but I will anyway. I use my phone for business, not playing games. I don't "play" with it while waiting in a food line, nor do I walk around with it like it is a trophy. Many here do. That is obvious. As far as being "approachable", I am not looking for strangers to come up to me and ask about my phone, and I certainly don't want them "touching" it. The reason I even responded to this post was because the OP stated that the Note exuded a "coolness' factor. That certainly tells me how old he or she is.
We all grow up someday. Some of us a bit later I guess.

I also use my phone for business, not playing games. The only time games get played on my Note is when I let one of my grandchildren use it to keep them occupied. Nor do I walk around with it like it is a trophy as you put it. That being said, I still think it has a 'coolness' factor and yes, I have been asked about it in public. I spend a great deal of time on the phone when out - isn't that kind of the point to have a cell? If I didn't want to talk on the phone outside the office, I wouldn't carry it. I really do not mind people asking about it.

Story#1 (2 weeks ago)
I attended my wife's induction into the honor society for her university yesterday afternoon. There were 16 inductees and we all socialized a bit before the ceremony began. I was to pin my wife so I quickly made nice with the couple that sat next to us and asked if they would mind tag teaming on getting pics of the pinning action. All was set. If you could have seen the look on the face of the guy (and others around us). When I pulled out my Note... He said "what is that!?!? ". Of course, I took the opportunity to demonstrate the wonders of the Note to him as his amazement grew. After he got a chance to handle it and snap a few pics of us during our part of the ceremony he was hooked. His wife looked at me and said "I guess he's found a new toy now.. I can see it in his eyes".. I just laughed and went about my business. He had an iPhone.
Story#2 (last week)
So I venture into my local Best Buy to return an item. As I am standing at the return counter waiting for the guy to process my return, I am typing away in facebook and fully engaged on my Note. The young girl behind the counter next to him said "Wow. Is that the Note? I want to get one so badly. My mom won't let me but I am going to figure out a way to get one. I love that phone." I then let her hold it because she was so starstruck with it.. Really... I laughed inside.

Possible job at Sprint!

So I was wondering what you guys thought? I have wanted to work there for a while. I've been known as the go to phone guy in my circles and really like helping people and showing them all the amazing things that can be done with these phones. I have a job interview in the next week or two coming up and have really wanted this. Always been great with electronics, computers, and phones. Been hacking phones since the back in the day razor. There are things I want to accomplish within Sprint. Better support for our community, better tech support, better service overall. I have come from working hard labor construction jobs that I really don't belong in and have wanted a change for a long time. I moved from south Jersey to Knoxville Tennessee to get a fresh start and back on my feet, and away from all of the negatives that have held me back. I feel I am finally ready for this. So what do u guys think?

Good luck to you and hope that you get the job.
Your resume was good enough to get you the interview so now you have to sale yourself and tell Sprint why they should hire you. After reading what you just wrote, I definitely think you should use that as your 'so tell me a little bit about yourself' speech, also called elevator talk. Keep it under 2 to 3 minutes and the rest of the interview should be some basic tech questions, which I'm pretty sure you're nail, just don't BS any questions you don't know the answer to. You got this, I think you'll kick that interview in the nuts! Good luck and let us know what happens.

You should be fine and you should get the job but things you need to remember:
If you're selling phones, you won't be selling phones to people like us. You'll be selling phones to extra regular people. So all of your knowledge on here is pretty much irrelevant. If someone wants to do something and you yourself know that they could easily do it rooted, if you tell them that, you may be messing them up. And most people don't want to have to do all of this extra work for simple features. So telling them they'd have to root or something like that will actually steer them away from android and if Sprint wants you to push Android, you're hurting yourself and your sales.
Also, how you go about fixing things will be pretty irrelevant. You can't root the devices and unroot so at the end of the day if something goes down you're still gonna have to go through those set up procedures they lay out...
So having all of this knowledge is great but you may end up hating it all in the end because you can't go in there and do what you want. You can't really say what you want because you'll be around a different audience. This site and all of your hacking experience will be irrelevant and will probably go over most people's heads. And your troubleshooting methods will be limited.
All in all, you may be overqualified. If you really want to work with phones, look into internships and dev work where you get to do what you want. Going into Sprint and their own system won't make you feel any better.
Edit: Had to fix spacing. For some reason the text field would go off screen so I had to enter in new lines so I could see it. Just went back myself in a different browser to fix it.
Best wishes to OP, and very good points by ms (and many others)
From my Evo LTE, yup.

Franchise. Yes, and selling phones is only to get my foot in the door. Tech would be next and down the line management. I have had good experiences with Sprint but it is the bad ones that always stick out. Those are what I wish to improve upon.

I've understood that for a long time now. We are not normal people here on xda, lol. Sometimes people just need to be shown how easily settings can be changed or what app they are looking for to suite their needs. The simpler people will need iPhones or even the dying flip type rugged phones for the construction industry. Normal people don't want to here about rooting. In fact I refuse to s-off/root others phones besides my own because they could seriously damage the OS, or it would turn out to be up to a 2 yr commitment maintaining that phone. Our modded eVos are in a whole different class that can't be touched unless it's relatively the same kind of modded phone. I also want to add their troubleshooting methods to my own. I know the tools we use but I want to know theirs as well. In personal life, people ask for such simple things like how to transfer music from the computer to their phone. Things that will bring them joy for yrs on a phone. A lot of people are still computer illiterate, but I'd rather change their thought process about phones than computers because these are truly the future. I practically only use my computer to play movies connected to my 50 inch. But a phone, well I've used that how everyone else uses a computer for yrs. Some of us on xda are light to moderate users that just want better battery to last through the day. I consider myself at the extreme of heavy user. Pretty much on it doing anything I want for as much time allows that I'm awake. One of those things is read, read, read on xda. Again I love this place, and you all show amazing support.

Wha kind of retailer is it? I know it's a franchise. But which one?
And congrats OP, good luck. I landed a job with Sprint in September and am the top dog at my store now. I love this job and I always try and right the wrongs of the world by actually being a good phone rep because not everyone is! It's really a great gig.

Yes, that is similar to my outlook, I've taken things apart since forever. I actually did a tear down video on the e3d before it was released. Good luck to ya!

The curious eyes won't leave me alone

Went shopping yesterday and 3 separate people asked me about my One, while I was using it. Same thing happened today with another cashier at another store.
On one occassion, a guy asked about my phone as I'm next in line to go into the fitting room, and I had to interrupt his inquiry while my fitting room freed up. It's getting bothersome having to give everybody a rundown of the phone. lol

Actually a corp store rep that was only one of two stores in My area said that , believe it Ir not the HTCONE didn't hit alot of stores for some reason ...so many people that see the phone are like wow Really !!
I think probably because if the s4 hype and lack of retail availability that's why not many pieole are aware of the one.
When they here HTC one they probably assume HTC one S.

The T-Mobile store in Pittsburgh said that the one wouldn't be in the city for at least another month. so I just ordered online. They pushed the s4 super hard on me. AT&T has the phone here so I guess it's not unseen

I was meaning overall in popularity now and not available and unknown to the below average consumer a few weeks ago .
I'm sure by now it's picking up .
After all HTC has lost popularity in general .
So for the original OP the average galker wouldn't be aware if the NEW One or confused with the One s

No one has asked me about my HTC One
I got mine Saturday, there was only 1 store in the Nashville area that had them (West End) and when I went back yesterday to pick up a pair of Concords for my parents (first smart phones, they were looking for cheap) the guy in front of me was buying one. I had to interject (and the salesman was the one who had sold me mine Saturday, and I brought him bbq when I went in yesterday) and tell him a couple things.
Your situation sounds similar to when I first bought the N7000. I actually get tastefully asked now. With that phone it was bothersome.
Obama asked me where I got my phone from and asked to borrow it... I told him to get one for himself!

You certainly may after I delete my browser history
Just about all my co-workers and some of my family members have asked me about my phone.
A few co-workers have mentioned how much they love the look and feel of the phone. I work for a company that deals with SMS/Text Messaging stuff. I'm a developer there so we have to test our software by text-messaging in. Sometimes they need to use my phone since I'm the only one on T-mobile in the office. When I unlock the phone and let them use it, they tell me how amazing it is. (This is coming from iPhone users!)
I don't like that kind of attention, but even guys that only buy Apple stuff say they love the phone with just a few minutes to play with it.
HTC hit this one out of the park.

LOL!
I wouldn't do that. I'd prefer them to find out and watch the expressions on their faces.
Shock and awe is always more entertaining than disappointment.
Many people have no idea what to call it. They always say "is that the phone with the speakers?" I just smile and say yes it is. I never understood why a phone would have them on the bottom.

Yeah, I've been getting the same thing - "Is that the new HTC phone?" I can't remember ever hearing this before. Sadly, people still ask me, "Why didn't you get the S4? It's better right?"

I assume you know now? Actually, I think of it as having speakers on each side, since video is watched that way. If you think of it that way, you start to wonder why most phones only have a speaker on the left side...

I think he meant he never understood why the speakers would be on the BACK.
I've experienced the same. Several people at work approached me about the phone. One guy even returned his S4 for the One.
I've had several people ask me about it. Mainly when I'm at a restaurant and I have it on the table. One server even stopped while talking about the daily specials to ask me if that was an HTC One.

I never thought of that meaning. On my HD2, it made sense; you could turn the phone over, and it would automatically go to the speakerphone on the back.
My girlfriend and her whole family have always been on iPhone. After just seeing my phone and a few features they are all switching to the HTC one. Girlfriend has already switched over and has had no thought about switching back.
