I tried to recover a rom today using nandroid and I got some error after the md5 check saying something like error unable to load recovery. (I am currently in recovery console). I then proceded to reboot the phone and now it just shows the Vibrant logo and doesn't do anything I can not reboot into recovery or anything. Is my phone bricked? If not how do I fix this?

Tell me how that goes for yah.
Thanks that seem to work, now all I have to do is reload a different rom and I should be good to go correct? Or do I have to reflash clockwork recovery or anything else?
Thanks

ODIN will not remove the update.zip so you can add a ROM and then go into clockwork then flash and your good to go. Try out Toxic or the new D9, there awesome.

Yes, you will have to re-flash recovery. If you have the update.zip on your SD card already (like ransz28 mentioned above) then just boot into stock recovery and (using the volumes to navigate and the power button to select) click on 'Reinstall Packages'. It will cycle a bit and you will see that yellow text again then it will return to the stock recovery. Select Reinstall packages again. You are now in CWR. Now you can flash your new ROM
If you get lost, don't have an update.zip, or want a step by step guide on flashing a new rom there's a guide for that to... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 Just start at "GREAT, I AM ON JFD NOW - HOW DO I ROOT?"
Downloaded the new Clockworkmod Recovery from ROM Manager only to find that I could not back up to the external SD Card. So I tried reverting back to an older version (v5.8.4.0) and try backing up again to the SD card.
My phone booted into what appears to be a broken version of CWM where none of the volume and power buttons work correctly. Pressing the volume down only makes the screen scroll down. I can't select anything at all. I can boot into download mode but Odin doesn't recognise my phone. Should I download Samsung drivers and try to flash a stock ROM?
This is really stressing me out as I'm afraid I might have screwed my phone up! Any help is greatly welcome.
[SOLUTION]: Flashed a stock ROM and gave myself a stern talking to.

Also Recovery version 6.0.2.7 refuses to mount external SD card. Any suggestions for an alternative to ROM manager? Or should I just uninstall it from my current ROM?

Have you flashed back to a stock Rom?
Yeah I have.
Then I suggest rooting with auto root and flashing philz recovery after and if it still won't see the card then you might need to format it.....and personally I always do that in the phone.
Hopefully a clean install, with fresh root and recovery will get it going again, fingers crossed

I don't really use it. It just happened to come with the root file I used.
I tried updating Cyanogenmod but needed the new gapps, but unfortunately I installed the wrong one. Now I have no way to access my phone as I can only see "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped". On top of that, whenever I try to boot into recovery to install the correct gapps, I am greeted by a blank screen. I have tried reinstalling the recovery with Odin and I am getting the same thing. Any help?

Is there a complete and idiot proof way to make my X into a lollipop S on AT&T without losing 4g and still able to use the tablet docking?
Thanks in advance to the wizards!
If you are rooted and your bootloader is unlocked .
0. If not, Root it using kingroot or towelroot v2(not v4) and use flashily (from the playstore) to flash cwm or twrp to flash crowlock to unlock the boot loader. (careful to tap recovery and not boot)
1.Back up everything through custom recovery. (Latest Twrp or CWM would be fine)
Optional: If you dont want to lose any of your 4g lte connection use this recovery.(This one will be a black screen so leave it alone for 2 mins then wake it up then you are fine)
-- While at that recovery back up System, Boot and the EFS partition and cache(This recovery has the Efs option, and since the efs partition contains the communication info its best to do that so you cannot lose the bands.)
Great now you have just backed up every thing so now I will say for the next set of steps install Cyanogenmod, preferably 12.1 since cm13 is a bit unstable.
2. --For this to work with the conversion I suggest now you will need to install the latest version of twrp. (That could be found under this link)
*Make sure You put cm12.1 some where you can find when you are going to flash it*
3. Using the newest version of twrp available, flash cm12.1 on to your phone (Great Almost done) (your choice if you want gapps or not)
4. When its booting up and everything is set up put the latest WW firmware in a place you will remember when you flash it. (Also put in crowlock too, since flashing this fw will relock your Bootloader)
5. Once thats done Boot into Twrp and select advanced wipe. Under there Choose to wipe System, Data, and Cache.
6. Now its time to flash that WW firmware, which does take some time.
7. After that, flash crowlock again since your bootloader has been locked again. (Reflash Twrp.img too after that, using the img flashing option and make sure you flash the recovery and not boot)
8. Great Now you can boot and everything should be alright
Optional con't: If you are bothered by the lack of LTE connection at times, flash that other version of twrp I gave you earlier (only if you bothered to back it up before flashing the ww firmware.)
Then you can restore the EFS partition from there. (I didn't need to do that since I live near the city and even if I traveled away I still found my self LTE connection)
Then just reboot your phone and thats it
For future updates refresh your recovery to quarx's twrp, but keep the Adam's n5 recovery to future updates when you lose band 17 and connectivity options.

Flash ww firmware after cm12.1 through twrp and the dock should work again.
The Dock isn't supported on cm12.1 yet. (Stay tuned though it could happen in a couple of months)

The link is updated for the twrp recovery that supports efs backups.
If you dont know how to flash cm12.1 check this out He recommends cwm recovery
Afterwards after you successfully flash and booted cm12.1 up just flash to the newer version of twrp then install ww firmware.
Works like a charm. I still have to go back and restore the efs to get LTE back but its pretty fool proof. I did have to reflash CM12 after wiping the system partition and then flash the WW zip on top. It acted like it couldnt flash the OS to an empty system partition. But its running and rooted. Waiting on them to release MM for the Padphone S now lol.

Yes thats what it did with me but it ignored it anyway
to be exact it said "are you sure you want to leave recovery with an empty system partition" funny how I flashed it so I left and it booted it up pretty normally,
I always flash cyanogenmod with an empty system partition, too, eh
next time I booted recovery up after booting system (just to root it with supersu) recovery and left it, the message went away.

What you will need (to boot TW ROMS):
A rooted galaxy s2 sgh-i777 running stock Android 4.1.2
ClockworkMod Recovery
Cook's safe pre-load ROM wipe
Jeeboo kernel
A TW galaxy s2 sgh-i9100 ROM
What you will need (to boot AOSP ROMS):
WARNING! I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS! TEST AT OWN RISK!
A rooted galaxy s2 sgh-i777 running stock Android 4.1.2
ClockworkMod Recovery
Cook's pre-load ROM wipe
Shift Kernel (use the one for whichever Android version you're going to)
An AOSP sgh-i9100 galaxy s2 ROM
The Procedure (for booting TW ROMS):
Boot into clockworkmod recovery
Make a Nandroid backup
Flash Cook's safe pre-load ROM wipe .zip file
Flash ROM (I used WizzedKat ROM v3)
Flash jeeboo kernel
Reboot
Done! Enjoy Android 4.4.2 kit kat (if you flashed WizzedKat)
The Procedure (for booting AOSP ROMS):
Again, I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS!
Boot to clockworkmod recovery
Make a Nandroid backup
Flash Cook's pre-load ROM wipe .zip file
Flash ROM
Flash shift kernel
Reboot and pray your phone boots up because...surprise! I haven't tested this so I am not sure if it works or not.
How to Get Back to Stock:
So you've booted a ROM, played with it, and now you want to go back to stock ROM...no problem! Here's how:
Boot into clockworkmod recovery
Flash Cook's safe pre-load ROM wipe if coming from TW. Flash Cook's pre-load ROM wipe if coming from AOSP
Restore your Nandroid backup (if you made one)
*OPTIONAL* Flash jeeboo kernel or AJ kernel (both work with the stock ROM on the i777)
Reboot
Known Bugs
After rebooting back to stock, your baseband version might still say whatever it was while you were on the ROM you just were on and your phone may act funny when trying to make a call.
To fix this you will need to flash the stock MD8 Odin .tar file in mobile odin OVER your Nandroid backup you just restored. You can probably use Odin for the PC as well. This should NOT affect anything as far as apps and personal data goes, however you will have to reroot using the framaroot app and reflash clockworkmod recovery as well.
Happy flashing!

That is odd, the battery thing didn't happen to me, of course I came from Android 4.1.2 and that might be it. Restore your nandroid back up and then take the OTA to 4.1.2 jelly bean on the MD8 bootloader. You might also have to flash the 4.1.2 ODIN tar file if your phone acts funny after taking the OTA or restoring the nandroid, which may or may not wipe all your data, it didn't wipe mine and I used the mobile odin app. Do not take the OTA to 4.1.2 on the MD9 bootloader, if you do then i9100 roms may not work as I haven't tested it on that bootloader. Once you are on 4.1.2 , follow my guide above again to boot wizzed kat or any other i9100 touch whiz rom. It should fully work then, if it doesn't then I'm at a stalemate.
