Thanks to draw something, I'm considering getting this phone. Has anyone played it using the s-pen? If so how is it? I imagine it's super accurate to draw things and makes the game all the more fun.

This phone ownes at this game. I have 20+ games going at any given time because I can drawl so much faster with a big ass screen and s-pen.

D: That's all I have to say...just.... D:
I'm a horrible sketcher, but with the s pen it makes it so much more precise to direct your lines and fill color.
I drew Bowser yesterday and it came out a lot better than I thought it would. I would have done more, but it was telling me I was running out of ink lol.
I've been playing this game using my S-Pen. The stylus is a godsend for this particular app. Unfortunately, the nanosecond delay in inputs makes it so that my drawings look really cheesy. If I draw something, what I draw doesn't appear instantaneously ... there's always a very slight delay, but that delay caused major issues for accuracy. I don't see any solution to this problem.

yea...that's it, that's why my drawlings suck too, the delay is inhibiting my artistic abilities to drawl stick figures.
Those pictures are epic! I'm jealous of people who can draw.
The stylus action isn't quite as good as a full blown Wacom tablet or a tablet PC with Wacom pen like an older LE1600 (which I have), but it's a lot better than an iPad or iPhone with a mushy capaci-touch type stylus. There's some okay accuracy styli on iOS, just not really pressure sensitive.
My understanding is the S-Pen will be better supported with ICS. As it stands, there's a handful of suitable pressure-friendly paint apps already, more soon I should think. Doodledroid and Hello Color Pencil are two good ones.
Of course, the Note display isn't huge, but I did a few decent drawings on my iPhone with just my finger, so this is a lot better by comparison.
I never got around to trying Draw Something until I got the Note, but now I've got a good addiction going.
I'm kind of torn on some of the images. On one hand, they are spectacular - on the other hand wondering how long it takes to make them. I would love to use the Note & this game to improve my drawing skills (of which I have none of), but I don't want to spend an hour doing a drawing either.
I think the part I like the most is seeing how a drawing is done. There is a screen saved I used to love watching called Drawing Hand (google it) where you watch the artist draw the image using just a basic pen tool and a smudge tool. Always wanted to emulate by learning, but I just don't have the art skill.
Hoping DS will improve my drawing skill some. So far, looks like all my friends are about the same stick figure level that I am.
Is there a sight to see some art done by people, preferably with a way to see them draw it? There a way I'm missing to start a drawing, then come back to finish it later?
BTW - they got bought by zynga (sp) for a rumored 200 million today (!)

Nice. Is that your first attempt or after fiddling around and getting used to it? How's the precision for that? Do you think you'll get better/more used to it with time or is it now just a matter of seeing in what direction the creative juices decide to flow?

Though I'm guessing there are two possible workarounds
1) use the scribble function on a blank screen...
2) load a completely white (or other colour should you so wish) image into the album...
3) Polaris?

So how good is the pressure sensitivity? The reviews I saw in general didn't speak highly of it (despite liking the tablet).

I'll let the artists in the community confirm, but i get at least two levels of pressure sensitivity with the pencil, marker, pen and brush. Most noticeable with the brush in my opinion.

I found the pressure sensitivity better with the brush, marker and highlighter...the other pens less unless using a bigger tip. It is smooth after you get the hang of it. I have more drawings I'll post later today, some mine and some of my friends. Wanted to get an all around feel for the drawing ability of the flyer.
Now to nag HTC about adding an inking app coupled with software to detect pressure sensitivity a lot better =P
I contacted HTC about pressure sensitivity and palm rejection done through the stylus and this is what they said

Hi guys!
Got my Transformer Prime about 2 Weeks ago. Nice Device. Fast, smooth and good looking!
But i`m looking into using a stylus for notes in pdf documents. I have invested in a Jot Stylus Pro which is said to be the best passive stylus on the market. It works nice on the Ipad2 and ok on the HTC Desire.
On the Transformer Prime I got alot of dead spots. With root and TouchscreenTune i was able to fix that. but the wobbly lines kill every productive energy I got.
Having such a good Atmel Touchsensor i thought the TFP should have got rid of the wobblyline problem.
is there a fix? Is the Ipad the only device that gets it right? Something Android would be sooo nice! I really dont want to write every word in the size of the TFP`s full screen.
Or will the Atmel Active Stylus be on the market soon? Did anyone try that yet?
Thx guys!
found this a second ago... Active Stylus will not work with TF201! In the first answer the guy says that it is a hardware incompatibility! And as we see with other things...
Asus will probably not unlock bootloader... so there is no chance to work around... Asus has no interest in helping us... I hope they learn something out of this.

Have you tried playing with Settings->Filter Off value in TouchScreenTune (top right corner button)? You have to check Disable filtering box before changing that value, and after changing hit Apply button.
People have reported, that by choosing correct value, wobbly lines effect could be minimized.

No.
It is not possible, not even with TouchScreenTune, to correct or minimize the wobbly lines.
To verify. Set the width of the linedrawing tool to minimum. Place a ruler on the screen at an angle of 45 degrees. Slowly while applying even presure draw a diagonal line along the ruler (preferable using a stylus). This will produce a wobbly line.
I tried almost every notetaking or drawing program and almost every tweaking tool available. Unfortunatly to no avail.
I have asked Gary whether this is a hardware or software issue waiting on the reply.

Same in here. As a result of many positive and praising reviews about the jot pro, I've gone ahead and bought one. It was a huge disappointment because of too much skipping issues. I am wondering if there is another stylus that may work with TP fine for handwriting.
I'm interested in this thread.
Hopefully someone can post the best settings for TST. I've tried 30 and 85 for sensitivity and flickering, but I'm still not impressed.
C'mon T'former and Jot Pro.
Pretty sure s/w can fix it, but I don't know for sure.
Red is slow, even pressure with my stylus.
Green is quicker, even pressure with same stylus.

I think this is just capacitive screens in general isn't it, the way it tracks your finger? Since it's just a grid of "dot" sensors, when you move slowly you're bouncing from closest dot to closest dot, when you move quickly it just does more of an A to B kinda thing? I don't know much of these things.
*EDIT:
So much better on my phone... Maybe just because of the smaller screen though?
Testing touch screen
THis test was done by cnet on smart phones but I think the principle is the same for tablets.

Nice link, can someone else post a similar picture of their prime with the drawn lines. Maybe before and after touchscreen tuning.

What's going on guys?
I need some opinions here...
I do love my Droid DNA. The screen is crisp, I like the camera and I love the form factor.
I honestly don't know how long I can deal with the screen being this big. It kind of hinders the experience for me.
The reasons I am considering returning this (Verizon offers the 14 day window) and getting a GS3 is because I want Cyanogenmod (and prefer the 1 click root method, don't want to risk really damaging my phone messing with ADB) and for the size as shown above.
What do you guys think I should do?

A lot of it is psychological imo. You know its 5 inches, so it feels huge. My Gnex is 4.65 inches and isn't that much smaller. I believe the GS3 is around the same size, if not a bit larger.
Don't mind the mess, I was helping my daughter with her homework.
It looks huge here:

But when you look at it a little differently, not so much.
This one has my gnex on top.
DNA 5 inches GSIII 4.8 inches. Not worth it. .2 inches bigger with great cam quad core and 1080p. Stick with DNA. After getting to used to it doesn't feel that big.
Yea dude if you were to go to the gsiii you would be kicking yourself in the rear ...

Not much size difference at all...
You should move on. Sure, you'll cry later....
I would like to throw this out there. I messed with my step-daughters GS3 2 days before getting the DNA and I absolutely hated the hardware home button. After using a touch button for years I had to stop and readjust my hand every time I had to push the stupid home button.
Just my 2cents
I agree with everyone that's posted so far. The S3 is barely smaller, and the hardware button is extremely irritating (my girlfriend's mom got one and that stupid button, along with the lack of Sense, was driving me crazy). The screen is also annoying, with the AMOLED part of it messing with the colors and the Pentile part of it creating that criss-cross pattern whenever you look at a white background. Plus the build quality on the DNA is infinitely better.. I've never been a fan of Samsung build quality.
In short, keep the DNA!
Thank you guys for all of these helpful posts and for the pictures! It helps. I am trying to sit tight and wait for a potential Cyanogenmod release. Then I can probably deal with the size.

do you think they will have an AOSP ROM out anytime soon? Or s off? I'm in the same boat as the OP, only not because of the size but because I don't like using ADB. I'm coming from the Droid Razr Maxx and everything was so simple before but this device doesn't suck stock.
Hi!
I will probably buy the S6, but I wonder will it come apps or mods that can use the edge parts of the screen?
As it looks now it will only be used to show contacts and colors. Can it be modified to be used for other apps/purpose?
Anybody have an idea if it will be possible?
its not really big enough like the note edge to be any real use. the contact icons arent even on the edge, they just slide open from the edge.. it's just too small. maybe there will be mods or something for scrolling text or something, but i wouldn't expect to make much use from the edge itself.
I think in time devs will come with apps for the edges.

Exactly... Especially since Sammy released the SDK for it a few days ago.
This is actually an important point to me too.
I can definitely see myself buying the Edge, but if all it offers is the design and maybe contact-shortcuts, I can not imagine paying 100€ more than for the regular S6.
I had around 20 different Custom Roms running on my S4 over the past 2 years, and I loved all the work, features and options that came with those.
If it was an actual "thing" to lay out future Roms for a proper edge-implementation I would highly welcome it.
To be honest, however, I can not even imagine any actual use right now...

i held both phones in my hand today at best buy and after playing with the edge its so much better looking and feels so much better in your hand that i don't know why the even came out with a non edge lol.
Try both before you pre-order or buy one
I wouldn't expect anything groundbreaking if that's what your hopes are? You're pretty much paying extra for looks with that curved glass technology. And to me it looks damn good! Sure, we'll see apps that'll utilize the curve part of the phone, but ask yourself this... What else can be done for it that's not already being done? I can live with the current features, and I'll be ok if nothing else comes out to use with the curve, but that's just me...
I would be happy with shortcuts to camera, calendar and such, so nothing spectacular...Only basic stuff would satisfy me and I would be willing to pay more and buy the Edge

No this took about 10 minutes. I do not wrap the inside of the band. I cut a price of vynl the length and width of the watch leaving about a half inch every way. Cut that in half and laid it on each ending of the opening on the game for the watch (with the watch out). Heated it and then took an exacto knife to cut it how needed. Because it's not on the bottom or inside of the band it feels just as it would without it.
