Hi,
Just "upgraded" from an old Cyanogen ICS (didn't use the phone for more then a month) to the LPQ Samsung ICS through Odin.
I did wipe cache and dalvik.
Samsung ICS seems to work just fine, however the camera fails. Flashed back a recent Cyanogen rom (cm-9-20120318) and also here the Camera fails.
Camera worked fine when still on unrooted GB 2.3.6 last time I checked about 2 months ago, and I haven't dropped the device afaik.
My guess is that while flashing roms about 2 months ago I did something wrong somewhere... Maybe overwrote the camera firmware with something stupid?
Is there a way to get the camera to work again?
Thanks for listening..
Im not that technically minded but isnt there a firmware update for the camera on the "samsung apps"..er..bit of the phone? maybe installing that will fix it?
Thanks, installed it (on ICS) ...
But the update program crashes...
I think I am going to follow the bricked phone procedure....
Unless someone has a better idea
Well, unfortunately I can't find a original rom package with pit file and the lot (seems to me this comes most close to a very fresh install)
Thought to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449771
But the rom has been deleted from hotfile
Do not use PIT file .

Why not ?, this seems the way to unbrick a phone, and the instructions to use the pit file are all over the net... I was thinking this could also unbrick my camera as part of the unbricking process...???

Like I said, I am afraid I messed something up while flashing some time ago. (got a Gnote, so didn't bother so much) Flashing a recovery won't hurt (if I can find the damned I9100XXKI3.rar with the pit and such) and I already flashed an official fw, with clean caches and so.
Do note that bricking and firmware aren't even remotely connected. What you're describing sounds like a camera firmware problem and flashing won't help you.
Call *#34971539# and check your Phone/Cam Fw version. What do you see?
Use a stock rom for your phone and try to flash new firmware via Samsung apps or take it to a service center.

Installed 2.3.5, and the Camera firmware update program. This program also force closes.
Now, I'll try to flash kernel and bootloader, as in the recovery post.
Flashed Kernel and Bootloader as in the recovery post, did not help. still "camera failed", *#34971539# still crashes Factory info, Camera FW Update program still force closes.
What more can I do to get the camera working again??
(I must have messed up something while flashing some time ago, I remember also seeing a "dead" android character with his belly open while rebooting in recovery few times...)
Oh, btw, even with non rooted official firmware and kernels, Kies says it cannot update the firmware (2.3.5 and 4.0.3)
Is this because my flash counter is at 4 now, or is there another reason?

I have the same problem, and bad news is that it is not the software issue, it is a problem with hardware. I just discovered (just now ) when i press the phone hard (around simcard area) the camera works fine! Hope this is just loose connection. Going to get my screwdrivers right now...
My E4GT has been acting identical!! I also tried reinstalling EVERYTHING. After reading your posts I starting pressing around on the back of my phone with the back cover off and the camera starting working. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...
same problem
Black screen again
Same problem again!
My phone accidentally spent some time in a bucket full of water (over a minute!). Took me almost an hour to get it working, but unfortunately the camera wasn't working again (black screen). As I have had some bad experience with the camera before, disassembled my phone, disconnected the camera, carefully cleaned everything and I put it all back together. Camera working again!
The whole process is very easy and took me about 20 minutes!
Same problem!
My phone after falling down the camera stopped working (black screen). I changed the camera did not work.
can you help me?
thanks

Hi,
Sorry if I don't write correctly in english.
I never had an Android smartphone and I just bought to someone a Galaxy S2 with an operator customization.
I notice that the two sensitives buttons MENU and BACK (at the left and at the right of the HOME button) are not illuminated but they was 2 days ago.
They work perfectly but I never see the white light.
Because I'm a new Android user I don't really know if it's a customization or not so I decide to flash the S2 with a stock ROM but the problem is still here
Here is the details of the smartphone:
Android: 4.0.3
Baseband: I9100XXKPA
Kernel: 3.0.15-I9100XXKPA-CL51925 [email protected] #3
Version: ICS.XXKPA
A guess its whatever customization has been made to the phone .
No ICS release for SGS2 what has been flashed on the phone .

But I don't understand everything :/
You say that I should not install a version 4 because this is an ICS ROM and there is no official ICS ROM, is that correct?
Whatever, I will do what you're suggesting to me installing this ROM:

I can't see the phone in the ODIN MODE either
I'm totally lost, is there a way to flash completely from the micro SD card?

I copied this file on the SD and I have a KERNEL PANIC, UPLOAD MODE :/
There is also this line in red:
RST_STAT = 0x20000000
Edit: The phone boot normally but I still can't see it on W7 and the buttons MENU and BACK are still not illuminated :/
I have a suggestion...
Please read a few posts and a lot of Howtos and FAQs. You're just messing with the phone without any clear knowledge and you'll brick it sooner or later so spare yourself a trip to the nearest service center and !stop flashing random files!.
Now for my next suggestion. Get Odin to run and/or use mobile Odin and quickly flash your stock rom. You have 15 minutes to refund and it should be plenty of time to get your phone back to stock. Then check if the lights are working and go return the phone if they still don't work.

Right. Now that you have flashed CM7 with the new bootloader, there is no choice but to re-install a stock Gingerbread firmware (or bootloader IIRC) through Odin.
Your original button backlight problem was probably with the extremely old ICS leak that you installed.

Start off with finding out what model phone you have. It's on the label under the battery.
Hi guys. I'm really desesperated about this issue, hope someone can help me here. I posted this problem in 2 important development forums in Argentina and no one could help me, so they told me to post it here.
Here is the problem:
My Samsung Galaxy SII has no more than 1 month of use, it's a new cellphone. The camara ofc worked perfectly, until the day i installed the "CAMARA 360" APP. When i installed that app, some errores appeared and the camara starts to behave strange. When i try to take a photo, the screen was completly black, and when i click the "Photo button" it takes the photo perfectly. I deleted the app, and the error still happens in the "Android Default's camara aplication".
You open the app, and screen is all black (Except the options, it's like you're trying to take a photo of something black). When you take the photo, it waits more than normal, and then it takes the photo perfectly. When you want to do a video, it works but in the video you can only see all black (like you're aiming all the time to something black). If you have the application open more than... 1 minute, suddently a message appears "Unknown Error in ErrorCallBack" and it closes.
I put some roms in this cellphone in a "bad way" (only wipes, no format) and some people told me to do wipes + formats and put a new rom. I did it, nothing happened (I mean, roms work perfect now, but no change about the camera app).
I was thinking about some strange combination that "locks" the camera... but nothing was found.
I'm 95% sure that it's a software problem, not a hardware, because the phone is new and nothings happened to it (no falls, no water, no nothing).
I'm thinking about smashing the cellphone to the floor, and make the warranty give me another one... (yup, we have something like that in argentina).
Hope someone can help me because i'm really desesperated =(.
Thank you!!!
be sure you have i9100, check under battery
1: if you have cwm, format data , system , cache, dalvik
2: using odin flash the stock GB rom. [use checkfus downloader or sammobile.com]
3: dial wipe code *2767*3855# after flash and first boot.
4: if camera still misbehaves, goto camera firmware thread under general forum and flash the stock firmware back using menu. [providing you have i9100/ supported camera module]
5: if evrything fails put the official region stock GB ROM using odin and resturn to service center, no need to smash it as camera flaw is a flaw.

I appreciate your help, but i'm pretty sure i have a Samsung Galaxy SII (9100). If you check my post, you can see i posted a lot on the Epsilon Project for SII and worked perfeclty. Btw in Argentina they only sell 1 model, this one.

I did use CWM, really!! But i think something must go wrong.
When you want to make a CLEAN install of something... what you must do first?
4 wipes then 3 formats? (Data, System and cache?)
OR
3 formats then 4 wipes (System, cache, davlik cache and battery)??
Maybe the order was the fail...
Btw thanks for the link.
WELL DONE!!! the camara is fixed .
I have a really complicated process in flashing GB stock in my cell, because it bootloops... until a friend gave me a PIT FILE. Then i could flash the stock gb, still not working, wipes... and then the code of the 3rd step... it gives a crazy wipe of everything and now the camara works.
Thank you very much, really... i'm really happy now, i don't have to broke my phone =)
EDIT: False alarm... the camera fixes.... but it's "broken" again. One thing i can say, it happened me before that it fixed like a miracle... and then it turns black again.
So... i can't fix the camera yet....
ok now you are running stock GB right. now goto the link i pasted above and ask people there or try to learn how to flash a camera firmware.
if that doesnt fix than your phone is broken and you need service

All I need is the answer I got last time.
Hi all! This is my first post on XDA developers forums. Recently i have rooted my android device (2.3.5) then i replaced a file in the system folder which can be found with root explorer. I think the file started with framework, the reason why i wanted to replace it with a new one, was because the new one was a circular battery file. But that seemed to fail and bricked my phone. After fixing the brick, with a different firmware which was also 2.3.5 . I constantly keep getting an error saying com.google.process.gapps and the button at the bottom says force close. Another problem was if i had my wifi on and i was connected to a wireless network, it would always say Google Services Framework has crashed or something. And i would have to force close it. It really gets annoying!!!! And when i open my phone i get something that says O2, it use to be Vodafone. Please help me! Many Thanks.

Reflash the rom, factory reset.
Will that fix the o2 screen and make it into vodafone
If you flash a Vodafone branded stock rom it will, yes. It says O2 because you obviously flashed an O2 stock rom. Get the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google), download the latest O2 firmware, flash following instructions here.

Pretty sure that's what I said in my first post 8-| Flash the rom in the first instance, if the problem persists (which it probably shouldn't), do a factory reset. And stay out of system folders ;-)

I didn't fix it, you did. I just gave you a couple of hints. Glad you got it sorted ;-)
Got the Galaxy S3 on the 3 network in the UK, all was fine & dandy then found out about how the phone was updated & basically 3 sit twiddling their thumbs on it. Went looking for a solution, found a nice simple flash the phone with Odin, use proper Samsung firmware, thought that will do the trick for me.
Unfortunately I did exactly as I was told (didn't go down the root, well, route as there were too many options and I was lost as to wether I was using the right stuff) People swore by the flash to samsung firmware, did that last night, was perfect. Only thing left was the change csc thing, to select BTU but the option wasnt there...was told to download another firmware.......the phone returned with a "unfortunately, the process android.acore has stopped" message, was told to to a reset.......then got "unfortunately, messaging has stopped". Have flashed a few times now to no avail, I can no longer text, is my phone basically broken beyond repair?
Not ruined, but it sounds like you have clobbered some system files. Read up on rooting. Hopefully you can Root and then install a custom recovery like CWM then install a custom ROM.
It would have been better to have made a backup via recovery before you started flashing stuff.

But its a bad flash probably could be a corrupt download or wrong firmware .

Bull****...his problems have nothing to do with a brick. Don't scare him.
i'd defo try a factory, cache and dalvik reset first before flashing again, you'l loose all your data but it may fix the problems you are experiencing.. Boot into recovery mode to do that.
Thanks for all the replies. I have flashed with Odin 3.04 & have found out 3.07 is out...could this be where it all went wrong? I tried following the rooting stuff but found so many variations & in my head (technology challenged when it comes to this) it was all going over my head. I did do the factory reset & reflash with a stock software (the latest I believe) but I don't know if it is a network thing which knackerec me, in CSC I have sales code saying H3G with no options to select BTU. If I post a screenshot of my settings (about device) would that help someone steer me in the right direction as a possible starting point.
My phone appears to be no longer 3 branded, but it should be locked to the 3 network in the uk.
I had the same issue with my Three branded phone. What i did was flash the rom with the PDA button ticked in Odin and then flashed it again with the same file but ticked the CSC icon instead of the PDA and it worked and then let me select BTU from the menu. Give it a try and report back, i'm 99% sure it'll work.
BTW you'll lose the HD voice by flashing it. I still havent found and easy way to get it back working.

The link for the stock you posted is what I used....didn't root as I said, but appeared to work perfectly. Then I lost access to kies & was told I needed to use csc to tick the BTU option & that would work, except I didnt & still don't have that option. Was given another link to apparently the same stock that had "multi csc options" & that when I got the Samsung acore error & I did a factory reset after about 30 minutes of trying to get into the options, then the messaging stopped working & I found out how to do te factory reset using te vol button home power thing. Is there a specific 3 firmware where I can get my phone branded again & take it from there?

I can use my phone fine just now (using go SMS Pro) but would like it back to fully working phone which would be sweet.
Nothing good is wrong with your phone. It's not even a brick yet. Flash a cwm recovery and then re trying using check rom.

None of these guys no what there talking about. You've bricked your phone and you won't be able to fix it. Best thing to do is cut your loss and sell it. I'll be generous and give you £50 pounds for it. That's right a fresh £50 note right now, hard cash delivered right to your door step, no questions asked!
Honestly though try flashing the original 3 firmware, it should be in the firmware thread I believe.
P.S You've not bricked your phone, no where near it so don't worry about it.

Thanks...I was giving up again to be honest as once again I was left not knowing what to do. I thought this would be the easiest place to ask but it was ending up in riddles, which is why I gave up on rooting it in the first place.

I'm on 3 UK same happened to me when I unbranded. Don't panic your phone is fine. Turn off phone then hold power + home + volume up. Let go when you see the Android man. Wipe factory reset and dalvik cache you will lose everything. Then reboot. Don't bother letting it boot back up, just hold power + home + volume down. Then flash unbranded rom via odin. Once done and booted type *#272*yourimei# and you should now have option of btu.

Was the latest UK unbranded rom in the first page.
I have the international edition of the S3 that a was messing around with, and I ended up installing some rom and now I can't even get into recovery. I've searched around and tried multiple methods of fixing it. The only thing I can access is download mode. Can anyone help?

this is file come from sammobile.com website
providing u the right PIT file with flasher
http://www.mediafire.com/?ddfpfkk2pb8326k
connect ur mobile , open odin program and then press on PIT button and navigate PIT files then (as i think) choose the latest PIT file with name i9300 (ur mobile Model) and latest date and then hit start ..... good luck but i recommend u send it to ur Samsung repair center if warranty cover

before messing with pit files, which is extremely dangerous, flash a stock ROM through Odin and then do a factory reset from recovery

Exactly this^^^^....pit file flashing is an absolute last resort, not a first solution
did you tried flashing 4.0.4 stock rom with odin?
same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago, flashing 4.0.4 and after that flashing 4.1.2 fixed it.
try to do not mess with pit especially if you didn't backup your efs folder. it is not needed.

I've already tried to flash a stock firmware, but I still couldn't get it into recovery. I'm not sure if it was the right one though. I have a regular unbranded SIII, is there a specific firmware I should flash?

okay? the first thing to do here is just flash a stock ROM, no need for pit files
Mine was stuck before than samsung logo, on the model number screen. Almost 1 second or less after opening the device.
Then i flashed 4.0.4 and magically it opened without any loop or something. Its useless to flash 4.1.2 or any other jb stock rom, for some reason it seems not fixing the loop issue.
Again, there is no problem related with pit files.

It's all individual, what worked for you might not work for others. Don't say that flashing JB is useless, because it's not
I flashed stock 4.0.4 firmware through odin. The operation was successful, but I was still unable to enter recovery. What am I doing wrong?

Follow the steps to root and flash your custom ROM again as if you just got your phone. The same thing happened to my T999, and it took me 3 tries doing this to finally get back into Recovery.
try to flash in odin stock rom then root use cwm then try to go to recovery..
My cousin's having the same exact issue and we've been unable to find the proper rom. Can anyone please tell me where to get one? I've downloaded some "international" ones but when i try to upload it it keeps telling me failed, i've tried at least 4 or 5 different roms.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!
Phone is:
GT-i9300
using it in the US with StraightTalk in the US (been working like a charm for ~6 months, all of a suddent when into this weird limp mode)
Phone was running jellybean 4.1.1 (through kies) and not rooted
Try several times before giving up. Sometimes it works after when the device feels that you've had enough stress and fear.
I mean the problem is common but it's solved in different ways or different repeats.
But it seems that your problem is a software problem that can be solved.
