[Q] Blue coloured chip in screen - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My guess its I have some how scratched through the coating on the screen, but I now have a mark on the screen that is fine when the background is dark, but when there is a white background, it comes up as a light blue mark (refraction effect). Has anyone had this? Anyone found a way to fix it? Sorry I can't really get a good picture of it

No, don't have this. It looks like it is hardware related. Warranty?

Warranty voided. Its due to a scratch, wasn't there yesterday, and there today. Probably some grit or something in my pocket. Wondering if there is a coating replacement that doesn't go to level of screen protector (can never get them on right)

nothing you can do but put a screen protector on it. Are you sure you don't have a dead pixel

Might be a pocket of air or dust between your screen and glass

then it's dust most likely. if you didn't buy your phone new or if it was a refurb, it could've happened when they were replacing the glass. another possibility is that your phone was dropped and it let in a spec of dust.
i'd recommend taking it to an at&t store and telling them.

White galaxy not scratch proof or color fades?

Hi all.
Are there people who have the white S3 for a while and noticed if the phone is a bit scratch proof? Or gets dirty by getting in and out the pocket with maybe small scratch marks? Or maybe losing the nice white color?
I wanted to order the white S3 but the guy I spoke of Vodafone advised me to take the blue one because of some complaints with the white color.
Any negative experiences?

mine got S3 white. even i used it recklessly, getting in and out my jeans pocket always, but it's still looks damn sexy.. i realized there's a bit scratch on my back cover, but it's only soft scratch, only visible if you look very carefully..
the color is still white, didn't got dirty at all..
and about gorilla glass, I'm satisfied that there's no scratch at all..
got mine on Monday always in my pockets and no scratch at all. really happy

Ok nice too know. I think the white one is nicer then the blue one by the way. So I think I will get the white one today. Unless before the end of my work day someone says something else

Ive got a white one and its started to stain. Especially after i've been reading the newspaper. Im sending mine back and exchanging for the pebble blue variant. Safer option. Dont want to be stuck with a stained handset. I think i've just got a faulty handset.

I am having white with no problem....
But in the first lot it arrived only white in the market here in Kuwait, I did not like the look of Blue in the pictures, now the Blue started arriving and sold very fast,
On my first physical look I really liked it, it looks entirely different than it looks in the pictures, We are already familiar with the same white models of SGS2 and Note, but the Blue is really a new shining metallic look which no other Phone has come with yet.
No stains or fading whatso ever.. reckless use still no scratches.. very satisfied.. tho i wud want a black coloured handset..

After reading the newspaper you got stains on a white phone. And after that you decide to return the phone??? Didn't you know that newspaper in will 9/10 will stain your hands and you can transfer ink to objects you touch afterwards?
I'm sorry but to change a phone for that reason sounds to be unreal. First I would try to see if the stains on the phone are removed with a bit of warm wetted cloth. Its more than likely that they will go away. What makes you think the blue wont stain? Just because you don't see it doesn't mean its not going to be dirty!
Scratches I don't worry about if they happen on the back cover as you can easily buy a new one. I believe both phone are equal when it cones to being scratched, its only a matter of what you can see, and on my white s3 for 5 weeks now I haven't seen any discolorations any dirt that could not be removed easily or anything else.
Only reason to choose one color or he other would be simple preference.

I'm using the official flip case, was using a sunglasses pouch until it was released lol.
Mines still in mint condition, the cases aren't worth the £30 they were launched at but you can get one for £15 on amazon now. I Had an issue with some peeling, hopefully a one off defect. They are not fantastic quality but screen is shielded and if you scratch the back just buy another in future. Keeping the original in the box
Had a bumper case on my s2 but didn't want to risk scratching the screen this time. Not that I did manage to scratch on my s2.
My sister has blue s3, personally I'm glad I got white, I think it looks better.

Well I now have the white one for a few weeks and I love it. Color is good, feel is good and as far no strange cracks on the side. Happy I bought the white one. Don't like the blue one.

Just "Did it myself" : replaced my own digitiser - tips inside

Hi ,
After i cracked my digitizer i tried to avoid from paying 300$ for fixing it.
I ordered "OEM HTC Droid DNA LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly with Front Housing" - all the parts are already in one unit and factory glued (Digitizer, LCD and Front Housing)
Making the job less complex - no need to glue anything
btw
I did the order from http://www.etradesupply.com - very fast shipping and great service .
now few tips :
1. very hard to open the back cover of the phone in the first time ( it's glued to the loud speaker - need to be patient ).
2. there are 3 antenna cables : 1 of the wireless , and 2 of the camera flash i think - be very gentle to them, they are very sensitive.
3. Remember to remove the "Ear Speaker" from your old phone - it's not part of the new screen ( I forgot it and needed to reopen my phone )
4. Have fun !
If you have questions, i will more then happy to answer :good:
btw #2
If someone want my old parts (Cracked digitizer - fully working, fully working LCD screen and my old front housing - PM me , will discuss on good price to both of as.
Thanks for the post. I just cracked my screen last week and looking at different ways to fix it.
Does anyone know if they have this same part in white for sale anywhere? I want a white screen on my DNA but all I have been able to find are ones that don't come with the earpiece.
Saw on ebay.. but it without the housing..only digitzer and lcd

I bought the lcd and digitizer separate. Then realized I didn't have the adhesive to glue it all back together. Wish I went the whole front panel way..
Same here, I ended up buying the whole housing pre-assembled. Even when I third to glue it the slightest pull on the ribbon cable and part of the screen is unresponsive.

I've got a cracked screen and was thinking about doing this... Wanted to ask how much experience (if any) you had doing this kinda stuff and also how long it took you. Also did you see any adverse effects (such as loose back, volume rocker, etc) from doing this?

If you planning to buy the same part as i did, it's more easy.
Basic exp with tools suppose to be enough from my point of view.
Regarding the time, it's took me 2 hours - i had to open the phone again, cuz i forgot to place the ear speaker
For the adverse effects:
Back cover - not loose at all, it's connected with hhard plastic clips.
Volume rockers and power bottom - working as before.
One issue that i found, is the charging led, i forgot to takw it out from my old housing

Hi
I got a white screen with red soft keys advertised for the 920e from eBay. Images here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44703091
I also agree the OP has a very misleading title for this post. It sounds like they are saying they separated their glass from the LCD and reused it. This is not the case. Not only did the OP replace the digitizer and the LCD but they also replaced the housing.
Great tips tho on removing parts.

Now I'm confused. I thought the digitizer was fused to the glass, but the LCD is a separate part. I see plenty of eBay listings for the glass+digitizer(with soft keys). You're saying if one were to buy that they'd have to glue it to the LCD? I'm skeptical that these 3rd party Chinese products actually use gorilla glass 2 and the same highly sensitive digitizer as HTC's, including the 5" 1080p LCD would make me even more nervous about quality.

The LCD is a separate part, but I heard about how it is difficult separating the LCD from the glass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=fTqPqh0fNkQ#t=559 at 9 :17 starts to show the front coming off. When I did mine, as my glass was broken, there was no really saving the LCD.
I cant tell the difference between my replacement, from a USA seller, than the original LCD.

No doubt, but Can Not. That eBay listing has errors. It says the x920e in the listing but it can not be. That listing is for a back cover with an SD card. The x920d and the HTL21 have SD cards and a larger cut out on the top of the back cover. The x920e and the DNA have no cut outs are are a couple mms shorter than the other two. Now this one you can use. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290940405280

Where to buy mid frame for the S3?

Hello,
I am wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction of buying the middle part of the S3. The part I mean is where the volume button is and the other really thin piece on top of that. I'm not sure what it's called so trying to find it on ebay is proving to be quite hard.
Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Theres no "mid frame". The piece you perceive as the middle belongs to the front housing. You'll need the glass too.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
So it's apart of the AMOLED display or the digitizer?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Usually when you buy a "screen" it is a package that includes the amoled display and digitiser, pre-mounted in the front housing with glass.
You can buy all these separately. If your amoled panel and digitiser are fine, you can buy "front housing" and glass. Reason being, you cannot remove the glass from existing front housing without damaging it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4
So there's no way to replace that section without buying a whole new unit? The screen is fine its just the side
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Did you not read my last post? You can buy all the pieces separately. Just buy a front housing and glass. About £20
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4

Self refurbish?

I bought my s3 second hand and it looks terrible, you can pick up full housing, glass and back for £15, anyone done this before? I don't fancy paying for a new LCD but the heat gun method looks sketchy at best
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Search for all the other people who broke their oled screen or cooked the screen/motherboard.
