[Q] Atrix 4G ICS9 Beta4 Battery dead wont charge - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday I updated my Atrix to to Beta 4 ICS jokersax. My battery was not quite fully charge at about 56 percent but completed with no issue. I went to bed had the phone plugged in and woke to a dead phone that will not turn on at all.
Notes:
When I plug the phone into the PC a green light will come on and say on for maybe five minutes then turn off. The whole time the screen remains black.
When I plug into the wall charger the phone will come on boot to the red Motorola screen turn off and just keep looping. I can get into Android recovery by powering on the phone and holding down the volume key.
Once in recovery I can navigate but I have not been successful charging or flashing a rom.
I have two batteries and neither one will hold a charge or charge when plugged in. Any advice is appreciated.

Try to flash a rom after formatting the system partition in Recovery.

If your coming from another rom you need to flash twice

I did the following and flashed the latest ICS ROM twice. The phone reboots to the moto logo for about 10 seconds then shuts off.
wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- go to mounts and storage:
1.format /cache
2.format /data
3.format /system
- go to advanced:
1. wipe dalvik cache
2. wipe battery stats

I would try a full fastboot wipe and then flash your rom. then calibrate the batteries

Do you have the latest cwm?

Fastboot says the battery is to low to use. I am using Clockworkmod ver. 5.0.1.0.

Other than a faulty cable or charger can't really think of anything else. Why don't you post on joker's thread...more people might help?

The last time i checked, no questions in a dev thread.
To OP, get an external battery charger, or get someone's atrix to charge you battery, than use fastboot again

I ordered the external charger below. This might be useful for some others. I also have a new battery and charger coming from ATT today.
I had to go back to the old blackjack for a few days.

If you can access download mode, flash a new ROM using Odin. Check the dev thread for whatever rom you wish to use. As long as you can get into download mode you're fine.

Get ahold of a USB jig, which may be able to get your phone into download mode.
THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS
ill keep trying
Hi, this phone can take a while to build up a decent charge, leave it for a couple of hours, if it still wont turn on just double check nothing is obstructing your battery contacts. If all ok then go to your nearest phone shop and explain the problem, ask if you can borrow a battery for a minute just to see if you phone boots. If it boots then it is either not charging or your battery is dead. See if they will let you plug if into charge in the shop with the borrowed battery in, if it charges then it just sounds like you have a duff battery.

[Q] Help!!! Phone won't boot

Okay so I was running Unnamed 1.3.1 rom when curiosity got the best of me and i wanted to try out The Nightly. So i did a nandroid backup then booted into CWM recovery wipe data factory reset and proceeded to install the zip file named "update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-Galaxys2ATT-KANG-signed.zip" from the link i downloaded. I sat my phone down and when i came back it was stuck on the Samsung Gs2 boot screen.
1. I tried removing the battery 5 times and it does nothing.
2. It won't even boot into CWM just Download mode when i try the Power vol trick.
3. I only have aftermarket batteries so connecting to a computer via USB to fix this is out of the question because the absence of the nfc chip in the battery will cause the phone to boot loop if connected via usb.
So my question is... How can i boot into CWM while my phone is in this state so i can do a restore?
With the phone off, you pressed and held both volume buttons and the power button until the galaxy s ii showed up, disappeared, showed up again, and then you let go of them?
Sent from my páhhōniē
Where's the battery that came with the phone?
And are you sure it will boot loop? Have you tried it out for yourself? I have an international battery and it doesn't bootloop. I know some do, but if you haven't tried, it's worth trying.
Sent from my páhhōniē
you are the motherfu$%^& MAN!!! I tried holding the both volumes buttons like you said and it worked!!! Previously i only knew about the volume down + power button for download. Thanks alot! its restoring right now.
Also i have two replacement batteries for my phone; One is made by acesoft 1900mah the other is an off brand 2000mah. I purchase both online for cheap (5-10$). The replacement batteries don't have the NFC chip that comes with the standard OEM battery.
Gotcha. Glad I could help.

When flashing cm7 you need to flash the rom twice before booting. That's why you were stuck in a boot loop
Thanks will try

[Q] Atrix stuck on Moto bootscreen, unable to enter CWM recovery

I'm pretty new to the whole flashing business, so if whatever I asked does not make sense, please be patient. Thanks!
I recently flashed the Neutrino Rom V2.6 from V2.5p2. Got lazy and didn't do a full wipe before flashing (also my battery was at ~5% ) After the installation, I successfully booted into Android, but realized that the fresh ROM didn't have multilingual or sync support (since the Neutrino Rom is a stripped down CM7), so I booted back into recovery (still with low battery)
I subsequently flashed the addons provided by the dev for multilingual and sync support, and when I selected "Go back" in CWM recovery, it displayed a long string of error messages, I believe starting with E:\"........."
Ignoring the error messages, I selected "reboot system", hoping luck would be on my side, but it wasn't
the result of all this is is that I can only "turn on" the phone with it plugged, and it will go through loops at the Moto bootscreen...also if I try to enter recovery by pressing "power+vol down", the screen goes blank and does not enter CWM recovery. Further, I am also unable to charge the battery for some reason, because as soon as I plug the phone into the wall charger, it will go through the Moto bootloop
My question is, is this a hardbrick or softbrick?
If it's a softbrick, is there any way of fixing it, or has somebody else ran into a similar problem?
Please help me out here, like I said, I'm new to the whole world of flashing stuff, so much advice is needed, and any help would be appreciated!
Thanks a lot ahead of time

Before you begin, turn OFF phone, remove battery, and connect to wall charger charger. When ? appears, install your battery and let it charge for a long time. NEVER FLASH WITH LOW BATTERY!
You need to reflash your recovery. Before you start, perform a proper WIPE. SKIP THE FIRST 4 STEPS, read this:

When I plug in the phone without battery, it just goes to the Moto boot screen, and starts the loop again...the usual "?" symbol doesn't appear at all
I've done battery calibration before, where it was required to plug phone into wall charger without battery, and the "?" has always appeared

Try getting to that menu and let it charge for a while? Have you tried that? ANd I mean, let it charge for about an hour. Charging might take longer than usual because your screen will be on.

sorry for the late reply...and thanks for all the help
no actually am not, I still can't get the battery charged up, which is the biggest issue right now...
I think if I can find someway to charge the battery without plugging in the phone, it's possible to enter fastboot with a charged battery
otherwise, even if I get to the bootloader menu (fastboot, nvflash, recovery etc etc), when I plug the phone into the computer and select fastboot, it'll still say "battery too low to flash"
Just a suggestion...trying to help. What if you find out a fresh charged battery before starting the recover procedure? I dunno if it will work because I dunno if there is some kind of serial number checking at this low level in the phone....I see that under no circunstances could you charge your battery again...

i use this method n it worked thanks..to bad my wifi still shows up error after i attempt to connect it it doesn't reboot thats good i think
low battery
Even i am stuck in recovery. No matter how many times i flash a ROM after wipe data/ cache partition and dalvik and then install the ROM i still boot into recovery when the ROM asks to reboot the device.
Here's what happened
1. Had a nandroid backup of older version of CWM mostly 5.0.2.x
2. Based on Nottachtrix thread installed the romracer recovery(updated flashable zip)
3. Updated to Nottachtrix 1.3.1 and successfully booted
4. Figured out that contacts everything weren't synced. So wanted to go back to older CM7 rom using restore ROM
5. Something went wrong during restoration. Data and other wern't restored and i guess only boot had been restored
6. Endless loop into recovery thereafter.
Trying out different things like flashing boot.img, recovery etc battery drained and couldn't flash.
Fasbtoot and other options triggered by using volume buttons and power button works fine. RDS also detects the device but bootloader unknown and other info all were unknown.
Since battery drained i was searching on methods to charge the battery. Had figured out that custom method for charging the phone needs to be implemented.
While playing around again with phone i powered it through directly through charger and opted for linux cold-booting which gave me the battery icon with the question mark on screen. Popped in the battery and it started to charge. So now i know i can charge the battery using this method.
I am yet to make progress on flashing ROM successfully again. Is my backup lost ? Did the error happen because i backed up using an older version of CWM or flashing to Nottachtrix changed something
I even restored successfully to my previous ROM after deleting .android secure from ext SDcard but still it threw me to CWM only :|
Help appreciated.

Not Booting up, Charging or getting recognized via USB

Just have an query about this problem.
The battery of the phone was quite low and the phone started heating up and switched off. Tried to leave the phone on charge for a few hours and it didn't show any reaction at all.
I have tried the hard button reboot (Power, Home and Volume Up/Down) but to no avail.
Then I left the battery out for while, inserted it and still didn't charge.
Thr phone is not rooted and the software hasn't been tampered with at all.
Any other way to attempt fixing it?

A jig or try a different charged battery.
I had the same problem, I think. Try this:
1) Remove the battery.
2) Plug the phone on the power cable.
3) Insert the battery with the phone plugged.

if the above does not work, then please put your phone to recovery and do a factory reset or at least
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
- fix permissions (under advanced)
and if you reeally can't get to recovery,
then go to download mode and flash another firmware from sammobile.com
cheers
