[Q] 4G LTE on the THUNDERBOLT AFTER ROOT

Hey just came from an EVO to THUNDERBOLT was wondering after i root will i be able to enable and disable the 4G LTE on my ThUNDERBOLT or if this another way to do it ?
You can do it before or after root.

The TeamAndIRC 4G LTE Settings app (free in the market) will allow you full control. The latest update makes it even easier...
does turning off 4G really save that much battery. The first day using my ThunderBolt I thought the battery drained pretty fast. Came home after 8 hours, minimal use at work, talked a bit and battery got down to 25%. I did a factory reset (my reasons) and removed Advanced Task Killer and today my battery was 50% after work (talked for a hour) and minimal use at work (no games, no internet). Honestly I thought it actually behaved like my Evo (rooted). Will most likely get the extended battery still, but really didnt notice the battery issues today.
Hopefully will root soon. Remove the bloatware.

and yes it does save alot of battery 4g kills the battery life on this phone same as it did on the evo then again i didnt use 4g that much to begin with so it never really effected me but not being able to turn it off out of the box was just stupid on verizons part along with the retarded about of bloatware it came with and i will also be rooted soon

I agree but they might of wanted to stay away from the 4g switch temporarily because of all the trouble the EVO had in the beginning from the switch draining the battery, just a theory I believe.

[Q] Thunderbolt Data Disables and Won't Re-Enable

Okay. So I have a Rooted Thunderbolt, running 2.2.1 (can you even update at all rooted?), and I'm running Superpower. At least once to twice a day, I have to turn radio off completely or reboot to get data back on. Superpower disables data, and then when I check, it just says powering on, and it never does.
Is there a fix?
This is getting rather annoying. I'm not gonna leave data on all the time because as we know the battery life is less than a Macbook.
Try switching airplane mode on and off. When ever mine drops it always work.

That's how I usually do it. But isn't there a way to prevent this issue? Not just bandage it.

Same issue on my TB, and the only way I know how to fix is to enable then disable airplane mode. Quite annoying.
I hate when people log on just to post "I hate this phone!", so I want o make it clear that I like this phone overall, but the main benefit of 4G data is definitely diminished by the fact that I frequently have to manually disable/enable the radio for data to work at all when I am not in wifi area.
Any suggestions?

Too bad our batteries die in 4 hours if left on 4g :-D. Why can't they just make a 3600mAh stock battery?
Lol, on the topic of the data. Its definitely annoying. Though I had Data Switch installed, and after uninstalling, it doesn't fail to enable as much. Who knows. Brilliant QC.

signal/data issues...

Hi there
long time reader first time poster here...
searched and found nothing...
running the latest gingerbread AT&T official on a AT&T atrix (currently unlocked and running on the Rogers network in canada)
i seem to be having an issue with my Atrix lately(or at least been noticing).... normally when i am connected to the data networks fine, my signal meter and H+ are is blue...
what has been happening is if i leave the phone alone for some time (usually 20+), it just disconnects from the data services... all my signal meter and H+ meter turns grey... when i "wake" the device it takes a couple seconds to kick back to blue... when this is going on i go into my gtalk and i see it had signed me out and that its trying to sign me back in.... same thing with alot of other apps, like my issimo app, its been sign out, or hasnt received any new updates since it turned "grey".
how do i stop this? is this a bug? something wrong with the OS? will i have to reflash?
any thoughts on this would be appreciated!
thanks!
UPDATE:
had battery save mode on nighttime, so i thought that was the issue... so i changed it to performance and doing that had no effect at all... still losing data after a while of it being locked...
any ideas? could this maybe be some residual affects from a battery saver app i add?
i really would not like to reload the OS...
anyone got any ideas?
i'm finding any solution for the same problem, some atrix lose data signal, motorola says that is a software problem but i dont find a fix for that yet, any idea?
It's a software issue on Motorola's end. I'm having the same problem. I haven't flashed a custom ROM yet, but my friend had the same problem and he said when he flashed Gingerblur it was fixed.
when i seemed to notice it was when i had upgraded to gingerbread... so what i simply did was deleted my APN, rebooted and entered in the APN again, and that seemed to have solved it
@OP I don't use GTalk so I can't comment on that, but the signal than that you described is EXACTLY what my SGS does running on stock Froyo rooted.
I don't know if its more battery saving or what, but I tend to miss more calls in weaker signal areas when my phone has been on idle for a while.
I too am looking for a fix because of that. Also my Atrix sometimes acts the same way on Froyo, but I haven't used my Atrix in a while...

kinda still having the issues but i have been dealing with it and trying out different ROMs to see if those are any help at all... so far its intermittent
Same kinda style here ..
When i am on my mobile data it's fine , but as soon as i connect to a wi-fi it become grey and no more data (mobile/wireless) is working ...
Tried many ROMS , Radios , all the same...
That new leaked radio they got doesn't work here in Bakersfield the 1.77.36p
Shoot I was lucky to get 00.04 mbps download and 00.01 upload
When I reflashed the previous radio I got 05.00down 2 up mbps much better one

Yes I found this to be true as well. The new radio (1.77.36) dropped signal for me often and the speeds were lower than with 1.77.30
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
why not upgrade your radios to the latest AT&T has to offer? 1.97.00 see if that helps?
im having the same issue
anyone knows why this is happening? i have cyanogemod 7, i reflashed the phone, and when it started i restored but the problem just keep going
I have a very similar problem. When the H+ is lit up blue I have a network connection. But it will switch to grey then internet ect stops working ..still have signal (4 bars) any ideas why it keeps switching?
I've had the same issue ever since I first got my atrix. I've tried many different roms and it does it with every one. Ill have great signal n my browser will direct my to a no data connection page. I have to reboot or turn airplane mode off n on to get it going again. I have like a month left on my warranty gonna try n swap it out n see if a different one will fix the problem

[Q] boosting Wi-Fi performance

hi.
Since I do not have any data plan, I pretty much depend on open W-Fi network to get a connection, which are often far away so I get a poor signal.
I have noticed my phone can't handle a poor Wi-Fi connection as good as an iPhone / iPod can. When I place my phone and my friend's iPhone close to each other and connect both of them to the same, distant network, the iPhone would get a slow but stable connection while my phone would frequently lose connection to the router. My phone also would not connect to some distant network at all while the iPhone can connect to them.
Is there any way to make the Wi-Fi work better? Maybe some hardware fix similar to the GPS hardware fix, or perhaps some system files I can change so the phone would not "give up" so fast if the network connection is poor?
Thanks a lot.

Very creative solution although I use the Wi-Fi only when theres no one around to talk with, for example when I am at a bus stop or during a (very) boring class.

Way to just use 3g?

Is there a way to just use 3g? Like disable 4g. F.E., an app or code.
I want to test battery life, even though the dna radios switch better and are easier on battery. Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't like posting specific Roms in Q&A Section. But I know Venom has a 3G/4G toggle. Not sure what the guys used for it. If you really want to know, I will ask Nitsuj how it was done.
Check out the app called phone info. I'm sure one of the options will do that for you.

that's a good one and the old Thunderbolt LTE ON/ OFF app works too... and has a cooler shortcut icon lol
just toggle the mode to CDMA Auto (PRL) to force only 3G

Here's the one I use. Last week when I was stuck somewhere and bored I decided to try several of the apps. Probably 4 or 5. This one ended up being my favorite by far because it's very straight forward, one click on the shortcut to open the menu, and it's not a huge battery hog like the ads in some of the other ones.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.andirc.lteonfoff&hl=en
Also if you have apps that are like toolbox or system type apps you might already have an app with a shortcut to the hidden phone info.
Just wondering if you noticed any increase in battery life when going to 3g

I notice a huge difference, unless the 4G signal itself is really strong. 4G being enabled in a 3G only area, or with a weak 4G signal, uses up A LOT of battery. Also if you run LTE/CDMA instead of the entire global radios being enabled that also helps with battery life for me, but I'm sure different hardware on the user end and different hardware from the network that's being transmitted all play in bigtime.
Thanks guys. I'll report back later.

What toggle did you use? I found if I clicked cdma it only gave me 1x. If I hit cdma auto, it gave me 3g.
I mean, I only wanna do this for a day to see if there's a huge difference of turning off 4g
Edit: bakemcbride21 already said cdma auto my bad
