Galaxy s2 ICS touch sensitivity is too heavy and not smooth (some poppings(?))
here it is solution
it will make touchscreen sensitivity like gingerbread
it need galaxy s2 kernel opensource
open arch/arm/mach-exynos/mach-u1.c (in kernel source)
and find
#define MXT224_MOVFILTER_BATT
default value is 47
it change to 11 (gingerbread default) or 10
and apply this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161262
for better
and compile kernel
you can feel better touch sensitivity and smooth
it's like gingerbread's touch sensitivity

Is it possible to change a config file to access these benefits on a kernel where the change hasn't been entered at compile time?
EG if the mov_hysti fix wasn't compiled into the kernel you can modify /sys/devices/platform/s3c2440-i2c.3/i2c-3/3-004a/mov_hysti
Is there a config file for MXT244?
OP is right. It isn't that smooth. Using dolphin browse when I try to swipe right it pulls left..a lot of the time --_--

it's not a problem of sensitivity, but of filtering small movements
open your phone and type *#2664#
try to draw a very small line (like 3 or 4 pixels)... you can't
you'll either draw 10+ pixels or only 1
but after it "unlocks" (after you draw the first 10 pixels), the movement gets smooth again
(you can check the coordinates in the top)
touchscreentune fixes it, but it seems to be a dirty workaround (need to be reaplied everytime the phone is unlocked)... plus it costs $5, which I'm not willing to pay
can someone tell me the settings in siyah for improving the touch sensitivity?

Hello "fresh" users !
I got the phone 2 days ago.
On the second day I root it, flashed custom rom.
Then I found two weird things:
1- Is screen delay.
2-Screen OFF animation glitch (CRT).
I wipe everything I can, I did full restore, back up, nothing help !
I try almost all roms, nothing help. (Only my stock and Lite'ning Rom work good)
The problem was "Kernel" (deep sleeping)
To FIX this problems: I recommended Ninphetamine kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172520
http://ninpo.qap.la/kernels/sgs2/ninphetamine-1.3/
Again this kernel FIX for me "delay" and "CRT" (1.4 only) (1.3 CRT issue detected)
This little HELP only for "beginners"....Be happy with your new device !
What do you mean by "CRT glitch"?
Always been working for me, no matter which kernel/ROM I was using

No no no!
The only reason that version 1.4 has no wake lag is that it doesn't sleep, so you will get huge standby drain.
1.4 has debug code in it! Don't use it unless you are debugging crashes!
DONT USE 1.4!

I dont think its placebo, i just installed this mod and touch seems really more sensitive and accurate, that was i missing from my previous phone (Arc), now it really is close to perfect touch screen
maybe its not just hardware, maybe this apk and .so are making the difference too, changing the way the touchscreen is reacting to touch.

Can you direct me to the disable function? What is Tweaks app (xxTweaker I guess, but couldn´t find it in that app).
It's an app which controls the kernel.
But since I'm using Siyah and ExTweaks, I can't tell you where is that option in xxTweaker.

Since you are running the Neat ROM, I guess you are using the Siyah kernel.
So, in ExTweaks, go to the Screen tab. At the end of the page, disable "mDNLe Negative Toggle."

Hey guyz, must have heard about the devices like Xperia Sola and samsung galaxy SL making a lots of buzz with an awesome feature, that lets you use the touchscreen without actually touching it. Hover your finger over the screen and you are good to go. The feature called Floating touch was dug out by Shiromman. And thanks to him, he hinted me to modify the correct values to get Floating touch working even on our galaxy 3. I've tried and tested it.
##NOTE (EDIT): NOW TRIED AND TESTED ON ALL ROMS. FROYO,GINGERBREAD,ICE CREAM SANDWICH, JELLY BEAN .##
**Very difficult to get used to. Might register touches even when not touched.
**Rebooting will restore original touch sensitivity settings.
**Might eat up more battery. Not tested.
**No other problems reported, which may potentially harm the device.
EDIT: NOW THE FOLLOWING CODE NEEDS NOT TO BE EXECUTED, THERE'S AN APP AVAILABLE FOR THIS PURPOSE, HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32678618 Download the app from this thread. Version 1.2 and later supported. Thank the developer.
The app gives the liberty to change the sensitivity values on the go. Enable and disable on your wish.
The following method can also be used.
Here is the code you need to type in the terminal emulator to get Floating touch.
Code:
su
echo 7007 > sys/class/touch/switch/set_touchscreen
cat sys/class/touch/switch/set_write
NOTE: The value after echo 70XX defines the sensitivity level. Lower the value, more the sensitivity. THE VALUES BELOW 07 MAY CAUSE TOO MUCH SENSITIVITY, RESULTING IN UNREGISTERED TOUCHES. RECOMMENDED VALUE 07
Hope you guyz like it. And yeah, once again thakx to Shiromman for helping me and for finding this stuff out. Also thanks to loSconosciuto who originally discovered the property.
Just noticed an awesome thing. You can use a pen with some metal in its cap as a very easy to use stylus. It works even if you dont touch the metallic part. Here is *NOT* a good video demo. (I am actually bad at videos)
gonna try it on cm7 lets see what happens
FEEDBACK!
Okay, so I tried it on CM7 and it works great in it.
Also I was fiddling around a bit with the values. Tried changing it to "06" and found the floating touch to be more responsive!
However, when I tried with "05", the floating touch worked fine, however it completely messed up the normal touch and made it nearly impossible for me to use the phone! :silly:
Interesting. Would be great for people who have cracked screens
here is how to remove:
su
echo 7032 > sys/class/touch/switch/set_touchscreen
cat sys/class/touch/switch/set_write
Works Fine on CM10 by marcellusbe Experimental build.
But users would need some time to get used to it.
Thanks for the tip
By the way why are we "cat" the set_write file in the given lines?

To test, first check whether the directory
sys/class/touch/switch/set_touchscreen is there or not. If its there, the try executing the command via terminal emulator. It shall work. Hopefully. Do report it.

Well, you may be right, but I just hate if I report something is wrong and than see it was my mistake and I false alarm it. It usually don't happen to me.
Btw yank, before sleep time, what you think about the readahead buffers some lower by default? I had some handups when multitasking hard and using 3Mb, on 512Kb still no related issue for now Even the "benefits" are hard to detect (even they are there I swear!) the "hickups" are easily detected
You could try yourself by switching to maybe even higher lvl's if you hadn't done it already. What you think on putting them a little bit down for the common user who has no clue on how this works?
PS: Multitasking meaning using internet or whatsapp while downloading some huge item like a film, where you have the SD card burning

Can do. I used to have them at 2Mb, upped them to 3Mb on the Sammy. Might be a bit too much ... if you do sequential reads it should help, but if it's random access it sure will generate unnecessary overhead.

Nt yet, initially I tested 256 and all went good, now up to 512 for some days, may go up to 1Mb if u wish
Any ideas on how to test the "good" situation to use it (for benefits) and the "bad" (for the "hickups")? You know way better than me how this works P And even if it's nearly unnoticeable all learnt is welcome

Well using a big readahead buffer on random reads (reading randomly accross inside of a file) should be bad, as you will have the system read let's say 4Mb ahead of what you asked for...
On the other hand reading a full file, e.g. copying it or watching a video ... should be better with a big buffer.
So the trick is to find the right balance...

I'm reaaaaaally tempted to try this but i'll miss two features from perseus...

both should be kinda easy to import to this kernel i think...

Anyway.Thank you very much for contributing here on xda and specifically on the S3 forums!
