Looking for RTL Fix - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I installed a new ROM that doesn't support RTL languages.
For example, when I send a text massage and write the number 123 I see it like this: 321, the way around.

Which ROM?

BIDI spport (aka Arabic, hebrew...)

Hi all,
I have been looking around for long time and trying different solutions to add Arabic (BIDI or RTL) support to my vibrant but with no luck.the only thing is just adding the font so instead of showing squares it shows the letters but disconnected and in reverse order.
Have any one been successful in porting the language support from the i9000 middle eastern rom? I tried but my phone will not boot and I don't know how to access the log at that stage to see why or what is missing.
Do we have a better built in support in froyo? Or it is the same?
I have seen many threads in many forums but most are not active for long time.
Any help will be appreciated.

I managed to make an arabic 2.1 rom. Everything works fine with exception of GPS. Just do not know how to create a flashable zip file for the rom to post it.

Can you provide us with that script or show where to get it from? maybe we can update it to work with the new rom.
There is an update rom running froyo 2.2 for Orange (I9000JHJP4) and has support for Arabic and hebrew, i tried to get some files from it to my 2.1 but did not work, i know i am missing more files that should be also integrated. that rom is for the international Galaxy S i9000 so it might not work with Vibrant
you can find the rom at samfirmware.com

I tested this patch without any changes and got the same error
I am trying to understand this java disassembled code to be able to fix it for the new ROM.
The patch already cover the full range of unicode characters for hebrew and arabic + other rtl languages.
Can anyone help me with generally understanding the disassembled code or provide links to some resources that can help?

Look at this thread, one guy is trying the same thing and he is getting the same error, and i think he got a work around in a hebrew site which i could not understand so you might find the solution to your problem there http://iandroid.co.il/forum/topic5657.html but for me I still need the Arabic character reshaping so RTL alone is not enough
And this is the link to the XDA thread where they discuss the same issues, and it seems that they are about to integrate the BIDI solution into the AOSP and CM

Arabic support

Hi, I'm looking to have an arabic support to my phone Optimus One P500 , please help me with that .
thanks
You best way to go is an original ROM with arabic support. The following are the links to download:
For Android 2.2
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AIRQBK/V10b_00/V10B_00.kdz
For Android 2.2.1
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AIRQBK/V10c_00/V10C_00.kdz
For Android 2.2.1
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AIRQBK/V10d_00/V10D_00.kdz
All of those three ROM have full support for arabic with RTL support and they work with all applications (containing arabic language) with no problems. The letters are connected as well.
If you do not know how to install a KDZ ROM please refer to this page starting from step 2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
or this one also works.
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...modaco-com/321895/faq-gt540-reference-thread/
I recommend to use the 2.2 because it can be rooted.
I use Smart Keyboard Pro..its very good in arabic and its dictionary is excellent.
Hope it helps.
thank you so so so much DR.Alani
Anytime my friend. Tell me how it goes.
I'm sorry, it took me some time to respond , it went excellent .
now my phone supoorts and writes arabic.
thanks a lot .
Thats good to know.
Apparently v10d is not 2.2.2. It is actually 2.2.1 too. I edited the previous post.

Guys, I just bought this mobile too and to my surprise it doesn't support Arabic, I need both Arabic and Persian languages, I installed smart keyboard that lets me write Persian/Arabic but they are not connected!!! although my older GT540 fully supports Arabic/Persian using smart keyboard and in web browser too!
My p500's android version is 2.2 and v10c
Is there any solution to this?
Thanks in advance
Try Multiling Keyboard. Has lots of weird mess which looks like Arabic & Co. Obviously I have not tested it.

Multiling does provide connected arabic letters. But it does not connect what is already written like web pages. Opera Mini browser connects them.
I recommend you flash another rom with full arabic support. Btw, V10e (2.2.2) with arabic support was released about a month ago. I can get you the link if you r interested.

[How To] Fix Arabic lettering and Type With an Arabic Keyboard

I received a message to fix the Arabic lettering so I can finally read Arabic properly on my Amaze (Yay!) and now I found a way to add the Arabic keyboard so I can type in it.
Fix Arabic lettering (Thanks hnt20):
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Fix Permissions
5. Flash The Zip File
Add the Arabic Keyboard (Thanks to cellphone88):
1. Download Multiling from the market
2. Click the option #1 (Enable MultiLing)> you’ll be taken to the “Language & Keyboard Settings” > give a check mark on the “MultiLing Keyboard”> Press the BACK button to return to the MultiLing Menu again.
3. Click the Option # 2 (Switch IME to MultiLing)> it will show the keyboard selection (Input Method)> select “MultiLing keyboard”
4. Download the Arabic Plugin from the market.
5. Go back to the MultiLing App and go to Enable Languages.
6. Go to the bottom and select العربية (It will be written in Arabic)
7. That's it. Go to the messaging application and hold the spacebar down and you can choose the Arabic keyboard.
your welcome. I am glade I can help. I actually use SlideIT keyboard that has Arabic swipe and it is really good.

All fixes here at xda require root.
As I already broke my Galaxy S (could not restore my partition backup - so no IMEI ) I don't wanna unlock the Amaze yet.

do you have spelling correction in "Settings->Language & Input"?
if yes then untick that option then spell correction will be disabled.
this is a new feature in ICS if you tab on underlined word it will show you spelling suggestion similar you can see in MS Word on windows.
it its not there then there is some issue with framework.jar
if you want to enable this feature then you can visit my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641988
if above setting is not present and you do not want to use this feature then copy setting.apk from said post and then you will find Settings->Language & Input -> Seplling Correction" untick that option.
Hope this will resolve this issue. but for me spellchecker is a really good thing to have in ICS.
Thanks

Solution
Hi!
I have the very same problem as I speak with my friends in 4 different languages. After a lot of search I found the solution to completely disable the red underlining: selecting "Alphabet" (QUERTY) as your keyboard language, as I describe below:
1 Download the "Google Keyboard" app from the google Play
2 Go to keyboard settings - in lollypop it is under Settings > My device > Language and Input
3 Enter into "Google Keyboard" to show the google keyboard settings, and then go into "Languages"
4 Disable "Use system language" and ONLY enable "Alphabet (QUERTY)" from the list of languages (you will probably find it between Afrikaans and Arabic)
5 Go back again to Settings > My device > Language and Input, enter "Default" and select "Alphabet (QWERTY)" as default
Voilà!

Changing dialpad format on SGS3

Hi guyz , i moved to an SGS3 I9300 and i want to know how to change the Dialpad format , it shows me american format or another format that i use in my country ( Example : My country format is XXXX XXX XXX and i have XXX XXX XXXX ) how to change it ? i changed the language but still nothing any ideas? Thanks in addvance
Still nobody? Ok , here's another example it's that possible to remove that space?
Bump , nobody?
I've seen a post about this once before, so worth a search
I searched but nothing ... i think nobody have the answer for my question , searched on google , still nothing ..
Check your language in settings, it might be set to English (US) try change to UK and reboot....or whatever language applies
Nope , still the same , every language i choose the result is the same ..
Any ideas or i shpuld give up?

Try to download a third party dialer and see if the phone format is still I the US format. If it it's, your problem lies within the firmware or your ROM, if it's your European format, try to find the stock .ZIP for your dialer and replace it with another (assuming you have CwM root)

Changing the locale? Can you explain more please? I changed back to my default language (Romanian) but still nothing ... the locale means default language?
R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
Locale means where you are living in that moment...for example: i live in italy and my locale is italian, i can put my phones language in english but if i connect to the store i will connect to the italian one.
If i change my locale to english, i will make my phone think really live in america/uk and it will conmect to american google play, and behave the same way for all other apps as well.
On the s3 apps for changing the locale usually change the language as well(thats because u can also do it in settings, but since i do not like to remember where to do it i use a little app to make my life easier).
The app i use to change my locale is called "localepicker" and i found it on the web, so just search it. But i am aware there is a more famous app that does the same thing and you can get it off the store, dont know the name thou....

I didnt have any root explorer , only the default file explorer , and no root ( i don't want to lose warranty )
R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
Ive searched the web very briefly and it seems there is no direct way to do this if not with third party apps (some people say that going into keyboard and language prefs and changing language to uk english fixes this),(slapheads suggestion seems the best one, if ure worried about the warranty dont be cause u can unroot ur phone whenever u want, or if u completely mess up the system and want to send it in for fixin u just need to mess around with it even more so that a industrial technician would not be able to even read fron the phone if not by completely rebuilding the system himself and therefore deleting any root data or stuff...but thats a situation ull most likely not run into).
it looks like a third party app might be rocketdial...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the answer guyz , actualy wich make me think it's that thing ,when i was bought the phone was completly without that space and the dialpad was normal that's what it's really interesting , should i restore it and when it asks me to change the default language should i go for british ? not romanian or american english should i try? what do you think? i don't want to lose my apps too
R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
I think u should root...personally- after all its not like ios (where thru jailbreak u need to mod the system thus adding stuff to it and making it, even if slightly, slower) on android instead u just want to ACCESS the already existing superuseraccount and use it yourself(whole process called root on android), what i mean is it doesnt slow down ur phone at all, instead it can be used to make it faster.
If u dont want to root the solution would be....i dunno maybe reverting back to an old rom through kies but ive no idea how to do that.
What i suggest is to root and either follow slapheads instructions or flash a new rom man(dont forget to make a titanium backup so u get all ur apps back), in that case u fix your problem
PLUS u get the new smoother android sensation all custom rom users get when they start using a rom where all useless stock processes/apps have been removed...
