Changing dialpad format on SGS3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guyz , i moved to an SGS3 I9300 and i want to know how to change the Dialpad format , it shows me american format or another format that i use in my country ( Example : My country format is XXXX XXX XXX and i have XXX XXX XXXX ) how to change it ? i changed the language but still nothing any ideas? Thanks in addvance

Still nobody? Ok , here's another example it's that possible to remove that space?

Bump , nobody?

I've seen a post about this once before, so worth a search

I searched but nothing ... i think nobody have the answer for my question , searched on google , still nothing ..

Check your language in settings, it might be set to English (US) try change to UK and reboot....or whatever language applies

Nope , still the same , every language i choose the result is the same ..

Any ideas or i shpuld give up?

Try to download a third party dialer and see if the phone format is still I the US format. If it it's, your problem lies within the firmware or your ROM, if it's your European format, try to find the stock .ZIP for your dialer and replace it with another (assuming you have CwM root)

Changing the locale? Can you explain more please? I changed back to my default language (Romanian) but still nothing ... the locale means default language?

R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
Locale means where you are living in that moment...for example: i live in italy and my locale is italian, i can put my phones language in english but if i connect to the store i will connect to the italian one.
If i change my locale to english, i will make my phone think really live in america/uk and it will conmect to american google play, and behave the same way for all other apps as well.
On the s3 apps for changing the locale usually change the language as well(thats because u can also do it in settings, but since i do not like to remember where to do it i use a little app to make my life easier).
The app i use to change my locale is called "localepicker" and i found it on the web, so just search it. But i am aware there is a more famous app that does the same thing and you can get it off the store, dont know the name thou....

Ok then , i installed an application called "Raygional" i changed my locale to romanian and romanian on the market too , still no result dialpad the same ..

Alternatively you can edit it in.buildprop with a root explorer, ....didn't think about changing locale, well spotted

I didnt have any root explorer , only the default file explorer , and no root ( i don't want to lose warranty )

R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
Ive searched the web very briefly and it seems there is no direct way to do this if not with third party apps (some people say that going into keyboard and language prefs and changing language to uk english fixes this),(slapheads suggestion seems the best one, if ure worried about the warranty dont be cause u can unroot ur phone whenever u want, or if u completely mess up the system and want to send it in for fixin u just need to mess around with it even more so that a industrial technician would not be able to even read fron the phone if not by completely rebuilding the system himself and therefore deleting any root data or stuff...but thats a situation ull most likely not run into).
it looks like a third party app might be rocketdial...

Thanks for the answer guyz , actualy wich make me think it's that thing ,when i was bought the phone was completly without that space and the dialpad was normal that's what it's really interesting , should i restore it and when it asks me to change the default language should i go for british ? not romanian or american english should i try? what do you think? i don't want to lose my apps too

R: Changing dialpad format on SGS3
I think u should root...personally- after all its not like ios (where thru jailbreak u need to mod the system thus adding stuff to it and making it, even if slightly, slower) on android instead u just want to ACCESS the already existing superuseraccount and use it yourself(whole process called root on android), what i mean is it doesnt slow down ur phone at all, instead it can be used to make it faster.
If u dont want to root the solution would be....i dunno maybe reverting back to an old rom through kies but ive no idea how to do that.
What i suggest is to root and either follow slapheads instructions or flash a new rom man(dont forget to make a titanium backup so u get all ur apps back), in that case u fix your problem
PLUS u get the new smoother android sensation all custom rom users get when they start using a rom where all useless stock processes/apps have been removed...

[Q] Sim Toolkit

I know that in several country Sim toolkit is not important thing,.. Since it is also have featues for mobile banking, I thing, it is become an important thing.
I have found Sim Toolkit (STK.apk) in several Rom, but sometimes, when updating the Rom, the apk is gone, with no way to install the apk.
I am aslo understood that it is because of changing base Rom etc.
Why dont The STK.apk developper just make universal apk, that can be used in any Rom?
Make it Simple for everybody will be a good investment
Sorry for bad English and Double post

Tell me what to do??
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Damn...
Thats what i thought first...
It seems to be that the stock video player wont work on the rom u have installed
this sometimes happens with system apps when u try to replace them..
Ok but i think there is another way but this will become a bit more tricky i thought...
So u´re rooted aint you?
You have to find out weather you can replace the mediaplayer.apk in the system/app (you might have to rename it to the name the current video player got)
I dont know if it will work but i know there is a way to do this just search here in xda for replacing system apps
im sure u will find something
but if youre rom is backupped you might take a try
but remember replacing system apps is always a bit dangerous

Help with keyboard and language.

Hi all, please anyone help me with
that issue ..
Firstly I'm sorry if it's not the
right place for this thread
I have a Samsung i5510 ( Galaxy
551), Rooted, with a stock Arabic
2.2 firmware ..
After I've downloaded an
alternative virtual keyboard from
the play store, it seems a good
choise .. so I went ahead to Root
explorer to delete the stock
virtual keyboard, I deleted the
two files " AxT9IME.apk " and "
AxT9IME.odex " ( after reading
it's ok to delete it if I have an
alternative )
Now I don't have the stock one
and that's fine .. the problem is
with the physical keyboard, I can't
switch the language to Arabic, it's
now in english only, Arabic ( the
secondary language ) hade gone ..
the swiching button on the
keyboard just does nothing now
I'm not talking about forcing a
rom to type in Arabic, because it
does indeed ( before this problem
ofcourse )
I'm talking about what these two
files have done to the physical
keyboard, I can't use it for arabic
now ( but I can use the virtual
alternative for that )
I've tried downloading the two "
AxT9IME " and forcing them to
system/app, but it doesn't help
Please help, I'm tired searching,
thank you.

Oh then that's why. You need the APK that originally came with your model

Yeah thank you anyway for replying, seems that i should do what i hate by installing the whole rom again, because the files of this model are rare, and i don't know about things like extracting certain files of roms.
No problem best of luck, I wish I could've solved your problem

Stop an app requesting update

Hi all, is there a way to stop an app requesting an update and continue with the current one installed?
Basically I have an app, today when I tried to open it, it told me it can't open and that I must upgrade to the latest version to open, but I don't want to do that.
Is there a way to mod the app/apk to allow current use going forward?
Lucky pathcher or anything like that.
All I am looking for is to continue with using the app build I currently have, without updating, and still have the app/apk work.

I think that's not what he meant. OP, mean you can't use the app anymore without a mandatory update right? Would like to know if that's possible too..
In titanium backup you can 'unlink' the app from the market.....
I've never used the function, but it *sounds* like it's what you're after....
Edit.......
Read this article......

you could try to disable its internet permission, using some apps or some custom rom that has this feature (custom Jellybean 4.2.2 AOSP, ecc...): it will not be able to communicate externally.
Other way is: editing smali code in the app itself, however you should know how to unpack it (apk multitool) and searching for the string that says "update your version to continue" and know a bit of code editing. I succeeded myself in doing some small changes to apps this way but it takes time and it might be not worth it.
