Or once we get a working recovery going.

There is a ClockWorkMod recovery already... Everyone is waiting for the FXZ files, so when anyone bricks their razr it can be restored back to factory. Until then, not very many people will chance bricking their phones with no way to restore
We don't have an OFFICIAL recovery yet.
Edit: Just trollin through
how about now..
Well, I don't see the clockworkmod recovery yet. Thought I could at least flash that.

Developer HASH has a Safestrap Recovery for the new Droid Razr XT912. You can read about it here:
http://hash-of-codes.blogspot.com/p/how-to-safestrap.html
I have not taken the dive yet. Waiting for the SBF Fast Boot files to be release by Big Red or for a Verizon Employee to leak them -- either one would work for me --LOL.
Edit: I just saw that XDA has their own posting on this topic here:

Just a thought.. I think it would be better if supporting Rom Manager on RAZR as early as now than start porting after a custom ROM becomes available.. Like what the devs did with Clockworkmod even with a very minor issue. (Enters recovery every reboot.)

I have just recently bought a Droid Razr maxx, and wanted to know what are the difference between Droid Razr Maxx & Droid Razr?
1. Can i use all roms of Razr on Razr Maxx?
2. I live in India and have the Verizon model, so are there any optimised baseband or radio drivers for India?
3. How do i backup my stock rom, i mean which recovery is best for this phone.
4. Lastly has there been any issue with dead phone or hard bricks with any roms or procedure ??

1. Yes u can!
2. Not sure, but I think u can only flash vzw basebands
3. If u r new, I recommend safestrap, read the tutorials
4. Never heard about a hard brick, was able to solve any wrong flash procedures I did.

Hey, thanx for quick reply...
I am not new to android, have used nexus one and gnex before this, but am new to razr hence wanted to get a quick know how...
Also can you recommend some good roms frm speed and stability perspective, to get me started...
If you can provide a short summary(one line review) of your favored Roms, would appreciate that a lot..

Hi!
Maybe its too late to give you an answer but I wish to give you my oppinion about your doubts:
First: Yes, you can use every single ROM from the XT910 into your RAZR MAXX. The only difference between both devices is the 3200 mph of the Maxx.
Second: As I know there a common radio version running for the XT910 and the same for the XT912.
Thirth: everybody says Safetrap is the easyier recovery but in my experience (and I'm not a super high level user) BMM is almost perfect. One recomendation: keep the stock ROM on the slot #1, that's your safehouse in case anything happens. Play with the other 5 slots.
Fourth: It's harder to brake your phone than keeping it alive. But in case that something happens, don't worry, this razr is almost inmortal.
Regards
Thanx for the reply, any knowledge and insight is appreciated...
I too found bmm better, espc as it allows to use webtop partition, But unfortunately aokp doesn't work on bmm, so which roms would you suggest, that are feature rich and stable... currently am on cm, but need more features like aokp...
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk
Just be sure to check your model number and flash the correct rom. Under "about phone" under settings, check the model number to determine if it's XT912 or XT910. XT910 = GSM = UMTS_Spyder. XT912 = CDMA = Spyder.
I have spyder, am sure about it...
Also tried flashing a umts rom, and it works properly for gsm network...
But aokp and bmm arent compatible for some reason..
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk
Managed to flash aokp jb mr1 milestone 2 on bmm, but have a network issue, I am using it on India gsm network, when I move from one area to another, it loses signal and can't find signal again till restart. Have the same problem on 4.2 cm also.
Had no problem on 4.3.
Any idea what is causing these problem on android 4.2? Is it a ril or baseband issue?

Yes. You might check out CM 11. It is pretty awesome. You can download the latest version for the xt912 here. But you appear to be in India. Sure you dont have the XT910?

I previously had the atrix2 but gave it to my dad. I'm planning on getting the droid razr maxx (from the us as the battery life is a lot better) and i would like to know if BMM and the other roms here are compatible with it like cm and sokp as well as jbx kernel and also if the droid razr maxx is gsm compatible.
XT 912 and XT 912m only differ in the battery, everything that works for the Droid Razr will work for Droid Razr Maxx.

Sorry for asking again but bmm and the roms will work for the xt912MXX too (because once i get it i cant return the phone) ?? Especially bmm because i love to mess around with multiple roms
Does it also support gsm (on stock and custom roms) ??? Because some say it doesn't but others say it does on ics and above.
Yes, everything works. The variants are not different regarding anything s/w related.
BMM, SS both works.

So will it support gsm on the custom roms too???
And what about the droid razr maxx hd??
For GSM you will need GSM fix. Search the general section.
Maxx HD is an entirely different phone. Its xt926.

The xt910 (GSM) and the xt912 (CDMA) use different versions of ROMs. Ensure you install a ROM for the correct version of Droid razr.
Hey all.
i rooted my xt912 with .apk installer and then tried to install cwm for a custom rom but the result in form of encryption unsuccessful.
Now i am unable to use the fone while i have reset the cell several times.
I have read several threads like http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr/help/xt912-stuck-encryption-unsuccessful-t2819034 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649613 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068332&nocache=1.
But i am unable to understand because i am a new bee.
It is humbly requested to please explain in detail and in easy words so that i may pick it up easily and could do something good with the cell.
You posted in the wrong place
Secondly, download droid razr utility by mattlgroff to restore Jellybean stock on your phone.
For XT912 you can use Matt's Utility - then you're back on JB and it's already rooted.
Um... Why not use Safestrap recovery though?

Once your phone is working and rooted install the safestrap 3.75 apk and then run it. Then install the recovery and then you can boot into the recovery and start flashing.

Hi there,
I'm using motorola droid razr xt912 and 4.1.2 orignal rom is installed on it but its sucks
Droid Razr Got 1 GB Ram I used many other phones with 1 GB ram but the run fine
As I Think 1 GB Ram is fine enough and phone shoudnt lag with 1gb ram but xt912 just slow down and many of the time it stuck when even i start any app
I Think the orignal rom which is installed is problem.
I'm right guys ??
So Guys Is that problem is just coz of rom ???
And which rom is stable for droid razr xt912 ??

bloatware is preinstalled apps, that are unnecessary and can cause the device to run slow.
I don't have a link for the xt912 at the moment, but the xt894/droid 4 is basically the same.

Ok Thanks Let me Try
I believe its a Jelly Bean thing. My RAZR's (XT912) and also my RAZR HD (XT926 still on Jelly Bean) will occasionally bog down for no reason, usually when opening Maps for navigation purposes. I strongly recommend using safestrap and upgrading your RAZR by using one of the fantastic Kit Kat ROM's available.
I cant recommend the Lollipop ROM's because I have not tried one yet but have read many good things about them

I have a XT912 still on 4.1.2 that I have de-bloated and it will help your phone but I still find that it will slow down significantly while multi-tasking from time to time.
If you do use safestrap to install a ROM, make sure you get the safestrap version specific to your phone (spyder for CDMA XT912 and umts spyder for GSM XT910)

If I remember correctly, I had a problem with either 3.75 or 3.72 in regards to wifi tethering/hotspot. In other words, it would not allow me to tether/hotspot another device (PS Vita) to my Droid RAZR. For that reason, I started using 3.65 again.

I bought my XT910 on Nov 2011 and for the past 1.5 years I've been using it only for HDMI (to watch old movies which I've downloaded in the past). I had a defective earpiece, I received the spare and came here looking for any tutorial (then went to youtube).. Saw this list, so decided to debloat it... App Quarantine app does the freezing for free (you need to enable advanced in settings)
never felt any significant lag, may be because I gave it less work... Rooted and running European Retail 4.1.2 on Asia retail XT910..
