[Q] Best CM build for SGA? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hey forum,
I would like to know what is the best build for my galaxy ace of CyanogenMod.
I downloaded this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360889, but the Market has a huge fault when downloading. So I can't download anything.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a Fully working CM7 build?

Officail is the only build by lots of bugs rather try cm7.2 by frozen ace team awesome

Have a read up on all the ones available as they all have bugs. Most noticably on the unofficial ones is the battery drain. Its difficult to answer whats the best as it depends on what kind of a features are important to you.
Read each thread paying particular attention to the bugs/things not working.
When you feel you informed enough make a choice, flash one and see how it goes.
(alternatively, flash each one and decide that way.

[Q] Upgrade to Gingerbread?

Hello! I am new to this forum. I have a Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959), which I successfully upgraded to Froyo.UVKA6. How do I upgrade further, to Gingerbread (Android 2.3)? I tried to Root my phone using that one-click rooting program, but I guess I was doing something wrong, and it didn't work (three times). Thank you for your response.
No official 2.3 yet
and no stable 2.3 (?) for normal daily use yet

he said "no official 2.3" CM7 isn't official but i suggest the OP tries out CM7 its fast, a few bugs, that will be fixed by the dev team, but besides that... its great!
Since there was a samsung gingerbread leak for i9000 a few days ago. I imagine we will see a vibrant leak soon.

With All due respect, perhaps you should just stick to 2.2 for now. While CM7 is a semi-viable option it is a bit more complex than flashing many of the more "standard" 2.2 roms.
Be patient, there are many custom roms you could look into that will surely boost your phones potential greatly while you wait for 2.3 builds to grow and develop.
Try out Bionix Version 1.3 (I believe) or Trigger 2.7. Those are my personal favorites. Right Now I am using a 2.2.1 Rom called Sweet Honey, which is great, but I haven't had enough time with it to give a proper judgment.
Look at the more stable options first, get used to things, learn how to use Odin, about download mode, the different recoveries, even about jigs (if needed); before you dive head first into this cesspool of amazing roms, kernels, themes and talented developers. There's a lot of options that are far less likely to brick your phone.
This thread is a good way to start.

[Q] Which Rom is the best?

Hi guys,
I have just registered to this great site!
Can you please inform me which is the best custom ROM for my ace?
I need a stable and fast ROM!!
Thank you in advance!
theres no such thing as "the best rom". it really depends on ur preference.
i might be mistaken my friend. I am new and i don't know much from roms!
I need my phone to be fast and stable!
With the standard ROM many applications lag so i would like to avoid these lags!
Witch Rom would you suggest?
uranus.
Seriously.
I'm kinda tired of this kind of question, because it's one of the most common questions, so you could just search it on the forum.
Anyways, you'll have to try it yourself, everyone likes different things. I'm using GingerReal. Other preffer Gslmt, cm7 beta or whatever.
Read a little more.
well, if u need stock rom function try custom rom based on stock. or if u wanna try aosp rom try cm7. but cm build for ace is still not that stable. u might stumble a problem/bugs here and there. for stock based rom, i highly suggest blackhawk by ketut.kumajaya
I suggest that you let your lazy ass read the forums.

Well currently I'm using the BehradGH's CM7 and also I have used many other ROMS like FirstUA v.1.2, Coderom, GingerReal, SanGingerAce and also Grif's CM7.. All those ROMS are really great and every ROM has its pros and cons.. So it all depends on your preference.. Even I'm a newb to the Android world.. So the best way to find out would be to try out all the ROMS out there and select what matches your requirements.. Also go through the comments because some of the feedbacks are really useful..

Yeah , you should try out but with caution !
as you may brick it or something.
hi. i wanna try the BehradGH's CM7.
are chinese and italian available?
there are big problems in the rc1 version?
Well RC1 is far from being a real Release Candidate, it's more like a advanced Beta.
Compass and FM is not working yet and you might encounter some bugs now and then.
It's just something between funny and sad to see flashing newbies struggling with CM7.
Apart from that, Chinese and Italian is avaible.
Well, for now, it seems all roms are (overall) the same: the same functionalities but under different names, some are aimed for speed and stability others just are eye candy.
I would recommend trying fla.shX2 and SanGingerAce. While I have tried the first one but not the latter, try and go ahead. Just remember to backup!
CWM back up will be your friend if you kinda flash and jump and compare 1 rom to another..^^
Hey stop asking such question again n again...xda wont allow any comparasion btw ROMs...so pls dont reply...this thread will close in few moment...

[Q] Most Stable Rom

I am looking for the current most stable rom for the SGH-i777 with minimal amount of known issues. Any suggestions? I'm currently on CM7.1 but it keeps on freezing on me so that gets to be a deal breaker.
AOKP! And cm9 are both stable.

Have to say I was on Unnamed 2.2.1 for some time and don't think I ever had any real problems. Tinkering with others for the heck of it now.
Been on Binnacle beta 7 for a couple weeks now....pretty darn good too.

Thanks Ill take a look at unnamed. Does it by any chance support NFC? I know the i777 comes with and NFC chip but CM7 doesn't play nice with it.
I've had good luck for a while using CM7.2 RC1 but more recently have been very happy using the nightlies for CM9.
+1 on UnNamed 2.2.1. I used that one for several months with no issues at all. Though I've heard some people had wifi issues.
I'm now on Mystic's Pride, an ICS rom in the Ported Development forum. I've been on it for a week now with no problems at all.
Your best bet is to try roms for yourself and see which ones work for you. That's what I do.
For example, I tried shostock2 for a few days, it ran smooth, battery was great, but I could not get used to the Apex launcher. So I moved on to another rom.
Thanks for all your replies. I decided to flash UnNamed and im just in love with it. I might eventually try an ICS rom but for now im perfectly happy with Unnamed
If you're interested in ICS, give shostock a try. I've been running it since rc5 and it's very smooth and stable.
If you're interested in trying other gingerbread ROMs, I got the best battery life and stability on shostock 1.9.4. If there were any apps that I missed from UnNamed, I just pulled them from the .zip using root explorer. The only reason I left it was to try out ICS. Glad you're enjoying the phone so far.
How about try them all and see which one is stable for you?
I'm not meaning to revive a dead topic here, but has anyone found a good stable samsung based ROM vs. AOSP?

This is essentially a best thread. It will be closed soon. Try them out for yourself and see
Sent from my CLEAN Note II
There is no BEST and yet they are all the BEST. Members are expected to research and read through the development threads before altering their device. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development.
Thread closed.
Have a great day!

[Q] Which ICS ROM to get?

I am sure this has been asked before but I haven't been on here in a long time.
I am getting sick of waiting for Samsung to release ICS to this tablet.
I have searched to see which ROM is worth getting but have ended up beong more confused.
Anyway I was hoping someone could recommend to me which 4.0 [ICS] ROM I should get.
Which ROM is the most stable and has the least problems?
...What doesn't work on the ROM would be nice to know also.
Thanks in advance guys.
I have used both aokp and cm9. I prefer aokp because of tweaks like the battery bar at the bottom. For me they were both stable. I did find that Fifa 2012 ran better on aokp add well. but the cm9 had the dsp controls to change the sound better.
There is a sticky in the developers forum at the top where a guy has you tube videos comparing them. I would watch those and choose the one you like better.

I got fed up waiting for ICS on my P7510 (though it is out now) so I hunted around and tried several before settling on Toldo's ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813651.
Everything is working, though I am experiencing an odd hyperlink problem on some web pages. I would definitely recommend this ROM.
I also would suggest Toldo's ICS ROM. Its working perfectly.

Thanks for the reply! I've been going through it. I am new to rooting and would want a nice ROM to go hand in hand with my Note. There are so many different ROMS making it very confusing! Is there a consensus on what the 'best' ROM is? Or could you explain to me the benefits of the one you are using and where I can get it? Thanks alot again.
You can get carbon under the Original Development Thread. It has had the least amount of reboots for me but there are many fine 4.2.2 ROMs offered here.
Asking for the "best" can start a flaming thread, since its very much a personal choice.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Ure most likely to get reboots in all 4.2.2 roms n most likely camera issues...until they release an official stable 4.2.2 rom then that'll be the rom u are looking for..to get less reboots I turn profiles off in settings n disable hw hardware layout...try that with any rom see what happens...

Best advice........read read read
As suggested by others look at development. It depends what YOU want or are looking for. Many 4.2 have issues. Mainly reboots. Some flicker in screen.
What i do is find rom that looks interesting in features to me. Then i go to end of thread and read backwards. Lets me know the more recent issues and if there are fixes or tweaks to compensate.
Lots of bells and whistles in 4.2 but sometimes we sacrifice stability.
Your choice........good luck and go slow.

In my own experience the most stable i717 4.2.2 rom is sons of android build 4, all other 4.2.2 roms I've tried where Awful for hot reboots and screen flickering. As always, make sure you do a full wipe before installing anything, happy flashing!

CyanogenMod 10.1.2 has been the smoothest ROM for me, with the best battery life. I use SD-Booster, Autokiller, and Greenify (apps) as well, which give me super speed, super smoothness, and eternal battery life.
Since this change, not a single reboot, screen flicker, or other Android 4.2 issue.
