[Q] backing up everything inc EQ settings etc - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been following the development of the omega rom recently and there have been a few releases one after another ( which is a great thing ).
However Is there a way I can back everything up inc wallpapers, EQ settings etc. I have run tit backup everytime but that just restores the apps and not the settings inside.
This is the only pain for me as it can take some time to reset everything.

TB does this job pretty well, you have to restore the application along with its data in tb

[Q] Backup

Whats the difference between ROM manager and Titanium backup? I have ROM manager back up everything on my phone on a daily basis. I just flashed Das BAMF and it came with Titanium Backup and noticed the Backup\restore tab. I personally think ROM manager back up is great, but have been reading that most of you love Titanium. What, if any, are the advantages of Titanium?
Thanks
Titanium backs up apps and settings, and Rom manager or clockwork backs up your whole phone if that makes sense.
Using a backup from clockwork you can roll back to what you had before. Using titanium you can restore your apps and settings to a new version of a Rom.
Be careful restoring stuff especially settings with titanium when going to a new build sometimes that will screw things up.
Personally I don't use titanium all that much, I like to stick with the same Rom. but its nice to have.

ROM manager let's you download roms and most importantly, back them up.
ROM manager backs up the entire phone pretty much. Settings, apps, cache, all that stuff.
Titanium backup let's you backup[and restore] all the apps and app settings on your phone.
It's good for when changing roms where you have to start on a clean slate. (Wiping the phone)
Certainly beats downloading all the apps from the market again, while also losing your app data.
Any more questions?

Apps force closing after restore.

I was hoping some one could help me with this... For some reason after flashing bamf 1.7 remix i restored my apps with TB yet for some reason most of my apps are force closing and its driving me nuts. I don't want to have to download them all again that's why I have TB I've tried to run permissions but that didn't do anything either. I'm at my wits end here...any suggestions.

I find that if you restore system data stuff starts to FC a lot... You might try wiping data for individual apps and see if that helps...
I'll try it out. But I only restore the app plus data not the system data. Can't lose my saved game on plants vs zombies. Lol.

Amazon uses DRM in their apps. If you don't reinstall amazon, then they wont work as well.
I find it's hit or miss. Ran BAMF for a while and switched to cm a while ago, I've done restore w/system data(learned the painful way not to do that), app plus data, as well as only app. Sometimes things are well and sometimes they aren't.
My latest flash I decided to manually go thru and install my apps one by one just to see if that fixed anything...so far I still get fc's on a few programs depending on HOW i use them...ie Slacker thru bt car stereo while car home is running locks up A LOT. But its alright without car home running, for the most part anyways.
Guess what I'm saying is some apps just dont play nice with certain aspects of roms that we run, but that's the risk we take right, deal with it until bugs are worked out and be one big happy camper....thats my hope anyways heh
Well most of the apps that are force closing are games. Some downloaded from the amazon app store and some not.

I had a similar issue. After playing with VDD settings and a reboot on BAMF 1.7, I had a bunch of FC's and the ROM Setup started. I also saw a UID file system error. I found and fixed errors on the SDCard and performed a restore to 1.6.3 and then went back to 1.7. Everything seemed to be working except I had continuing FC's with Pandora. So, I did a complete Factory reset and everything has been working fine since.

Afraid to restore data -_- because of FC's

I've chosen the apps I need data for and it left me with force closes still. I don't know what to do -_- Phone works fine without restoring data but it's quite annoying to lose everything
You're gonna have to do a full wipe most likely, rebuild your app collection from scratch. It happens to the best of us
Do u use titanium backup cause if do try restoring app only

I let gapps install everything then any paid apps just for funsies.
I hand install apps when changing ROM type. Burr not with different versions of same ROM.
I only restore data on programs I have heavily modified. Mostly games.
I think restoring data on gapps especially when changing versions of the apps screws it up. After Weeks of testing different things, that's my conclusion. Either that or Firefox was messing stuff up.
How that helps

[Q] Most efficient method of switching ROMs

Checking out new ROMS is cool and all....But a pain in the ass....especially with the time it takes to set up your phone how you normally like it.
So my question is: how do yall get this out of the way as fast as possible?
Im sure some of yall crackflashers have this down to a science.
I generally use stock apps like gmail etc. so I try not to have too many apps to install. As a result, most of my data is in the cloud. If my game saves get wiped then I have the fun of replaying the games. Lately I've been using launcher 7 so not a great deal to setup with that.
Probably takes my less than 20 mins to get setup depending on what the base is. Ics settings tend to all be in the same place across rom types (cm, stock etc).

I use SMS backup & Restore for backup of SMS..
Contacts are stored in Google server ofcourse..
I am using GameOn (paid app that needs ROOT also) to save game progress..
I usually take backup (settings) of GO-SMS and Dialer-One using the app itself...
So ROM flashing and switching is always a breeze...
Titanium Backup PRO
You can do pretty much everything with it! In 10 minutes it restores apps, data and everything you want. You can also freeze apps and integrate updates in the internal memory, move apps, delete caches and lots more!

+1 on Titanium Backup..
Eases a lot on the Backup and Restore part.
There are alternatives such as MyBackup Pro.. Which done pretty much the same thing..
Albeit, Titanium Backup is a more popular solution

Yea but one thing you gotta watch with Tibu is that you cant restore system data (only apps) when switching ROMs. It will totally freeze up the system since the systems settings tend to conflict with the builds of the new ones. Ran into that prob last nite.

New ROM without deleting all apps

Hey there!
Im looking for a new rom for my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Preferably one where i don't have to do a wipe. And one which is one fast and good with battery.
Im currently running on Galaxy Task 3.2 Slim....
Kind regards!
Bump?

for all roms youll have to wipe unless you want to risk instability.
And why do you not want to wipe. It takes like 2 minutes to restore everything with tibu
Tibu?
The only reason i dont want to wipe. Is because there are apps on the tablet from my mom and sister. They get mad if i lose their apps... i will back them up before wiping and stuff. I just hate that. Cuz it always gets messed up...
Thats why i was looking for a rom without
Kind regards

Yup. Or "My Backup Root", which is great. It'll backup and restore all of your apps, photos, videos, music, SMS/MMS, and/or Data + more.

In this case you should use some backup tool as when upgrading to android 4.0.4 or even 4.1.2 all apps will be erased unfortunately.
Any one knows a good fast and most of all rom with good battery? Because compared to the ipad 2. Galaxy tab battery sucks.....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I like both the aokp and cm10 jelly bean roms. They are fast, but won't keep up with the iPad on battery. If you under clock it, it might.
there are several points to consider:
1. you want only the apps or also their data? if only the apps, the task is much easier, just check on the market for apps that can do backup.
2. if you also need data, than you must be careful. search deeply and choose wisely, especially if you plan big move (GB to ICS, ICS to JB). I found out that some apps don't work very good in cases like this to restore data. personally, I would backup with several apps, to be sure (and avoid your getting 'killed').
3. I think, but not 100% sure, that also the Samsung PC sw (Kies) can make backup and restore of apps and data.
