Hi frnds ever since i got s3 i have been very very happy. But the more the hardware advances so does the software for example almost any game by gameloft is over a gig ... So at the end we end up with warning message... The games additional files goto mnt/sdcard/android
Is there any way if someone can make the folder of mnt/extsdcard/android to be used by default.

I thought I read another story that said this was only localized to samsung phones
My phone is affected by this USSD hack. I have the Cyanogenmod 7.2 nightly rom installed.

i'm testing gingersnap 2.2 / gingerblur 1.5 (cm7), oxygen 2.8 (kang) . all attack by ussd hack.
There is no need to panic though.... the bug will be fixed in the next release of CM7.2 Nightly and Cyanmobile. Rest developers needs to update their ROMs with the patch.

LG phones is affected but it is not harmful. (LEVEL: LOW) . So you don't need a fix for this.
It is a CRITICAL bug for Samsung phones, because you can hard reset it by USSD code. For ex: 2767*3855 reset hardly for samsung. LG phones aren't affected, because there is not a hard reset ussd code for LG phones.
When you entered a malicious site, it can show only IMEI on dialer for LG phones. It can't steal your imei.
To sum, no risk except SAMSUNG products. So all roms in xda are safe for p500.
Anyway, cm fixed the issue. If you have a samsung phone, upgrade immediately:

Anyway.. i feel Android is very unsafe compared to WM and blackberry.
Because of being open source.. tomorrow a good hacker can cook a rom with a script.. so whenever you connect to internet.. your credentials from browser form data or personal things could be compromised. Thats why I sometimes fear to use root accessing apps from market.

Actually, because it is open source, we can have bugs like this fixed extremely quickly. Its the closed systems like wp that we have to worry about. The hackers are still there and they will still compromise the operating system. The difference is the we have to rely on the corporation that controls the os to patch it when there is an exploit, which can sometimes be months or even never. Your idea about open source is backwards. I would trust open source software ANY day over proprietary systems like wp and ios

Maybe it is impossible to reset our phone but it is possible to let our phone call a very expensive premium number or to enter false PINs and PUKs to disable our SIM. This hack is nevertheless a threat for us.

The most you can do is "apparently" get the windows 8 interface by installing a windows 8 launcher. There are a few in market.

this is a very big process! i don't know if you can understand it actually! but try your level best!
switch on your phone> connect to internet> open play store> search for launcher 8> install it> (most crucial part) press home button> select launcher 8. hooooorraaahhh !!!! you have a windows 8 galaxy S3!
