Screen shots - HTC Rezound

Had a question. I haven't own the rez for to long so I don't know if someone already brought this up but:
I already know you can take screen shots by holding power and home. But tonight i found a different way. It also lest you preview the picture too.
What I did was hold power and vol- it will take the shot and put you can preview it in the notification bar. Is this something new or has it bees there?
Cheated on my sexy assistant with a HTC ReZound.

Its been there in the ICS builds. Its an ICS function because the Gnex takes screenshots with Power + Com Down also.
Pretty cool having two different ways though.

Thank you. I found this out while ninja grabbing my phone as it was falling. I like the preview part that's nice. It just took me forever to figure out where it was stored.

just to confirm, this is only available on the ICS leak? not GB that comes stock correct?

That is correct..or any other ICS based rom.

Weird... My ICS based ROM doesn't do that. When I hit Power + VolDn, literally the volume goes down and then the screen turns off. Mine is based off the 4.0.1 leak.. was this added later into 4.0.3??

It should work but it is also a timing thing...have to time it just right. Try hitting the power button just before Vol Down

Nope. No luck
Are you guys sure this isn't a mod thats just been thrown into most of the custom ROMs? Cause it certainly just turns the screen off and lowers the volume one notch when I do this on my phone....

Yeah that does nothing for me on Ics

I'm positive...it worked for me on both CleanRom 4.2 & RezRom and now even into Sense 4.0 by Newt.

Yeah, and every one of those is a custom ROM with added mods. I'm running ICS too, and it clearly doesn't work. This functionality must have been added in either by those devs as a mod, or into the stock software AFTER the initial 4.0.1 leak.

Mean rom or viper rom!!!??? which one??!!

what is the difference between these two ics roms, which do you prefer, and if the evo 4g lte hasnt a removable battery, then people like us will def be bricking and going broke because, a battery pull is the only way to stop a freeze? please comment,
I'm bias of the first question, but to your second question, the hardware reset currently employed on the evo 3d (power + both volume up and volume down) will power down the evo 4g lte, much similar results of a battery pull, or pushing and holding the power button on a computer
that usually works, however, i just froze on viper rom and that didnt work, i HAD to remove battery or else bricked
im just saying, no removable battery is def going to be not good for rooters, because if you forget to check usb debugging and power plus volume buttons doesnt work... then what?.
oh didnt realize it was you, thank you so much for viper rom, it runs so great... im on h boot 1.5 s-on so i needed chads altered kernel to work, when it booted it was choppy, but after a few reboots and battery pulls its perfect... thank you so much so much appreciated, you guys are the best... you and mean rom ar ejust the best ever

You should ask around the Droid Razor forum's and see what they do but I'm sure the power volume reset should work. And USB debugging is automaticly checked in roms I believe.

This specific issue had some of us
worried in the evo 4G Lte thread. When the one first became available, Srg slaughter posted in their forum yo have people test the button combo to see if it just rebooted, or powered off the phone. I believe the results were that it reset, but you could get into recovery via toss method, which I could never achieve on the 3d. I've also heard people say that the button combo flat out powers down the phone...either way, it seems that this won't be an issue.

Thanks for your support man. And far as which ROM to choose. It's all personal preference, flash and try them both out for a few days and see which one fits the way you use your phone better.
I vote for Mean. Mikeyxda is almost too quick to get stuff fixed in the ROM. I have a hard time keeping up with his releases
I like both along with Clean, especially the Developer Edition (Senseless), but for the moment I prefer Mean with LeeDroid.
Both ROMs and developers are great. I'd choose one that has the options you like most.

My speakerphone seems just the same as any other ROM I've tried including 2.13. Haptic feedback I can't say sense I usually shut it off after the first boot.
Issues I've found:
- GTA:VC will not work (works on CM10, just not Sense JB)
- Proximity Sensor doesn't always work while in a call
- Screen diming/brightening flicker while scrolling between home screens (not very noticeable though)
- Periods of significant lag (slow response time, apps takes awhile to open, recent apps takes several seconds to render)

Time to root that bad boy and come into the 2012's man, set that phone free, any ROM here is 10 times better/faster/stronger than any stock rom
Agree with musicman. I'm not rooted either but will be doing so soon. I loved my og Evo which was duly rooted with all kinds of goodies. I've waited on this device to get familiar with it and I just plain feel shackled! Ready to find my freedom once again!

You may have one or more apps that are taxing your phone. Mine is very responsive since jb. I know several apps, (go launcher, go SMS, desktop Visualizer) to name just a few that in my experiences can bring a phone to its knees.

[Q] How do you Screen Shot on Chaos?

I've recently flashed the Chaos ROM for the LG optimus G. I love the ROM. It's freaking clean...
But there's one thing I can't not figure out for the life of me... How do you screen shot on it??
I've read thru as many posts as I could find and not one tells me.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

That's weird. I'm sure Chaos is built from AOSP and Vol Down + Power is a stock android feature. Does chaos have options to customize the power menu? Look there.

[Q] Sense 5 flashing troubles

First off, let me say I'm fairly new to the DNA. Got it last week to replace my SGS3 and I'm loving it so far. I've been running viperDNA and its been doing wonders for me. Great battery, fully customizable, everything I want. But me being a flashaholic I wanted to try out a sense 5 ROM. So I downloaded NOS and after flashing and booting I would unlock the lockscreen and it would show a plain white HTC screen. Nothing does anything besides recent apps button showing 'no recent apps' but I can press and hold the power button to bring up startup menu. Very odd. Tried same thing with Tranquil and same thing happened, except a blue HTC white screen and no buttons worked besides power. So I've nandroid back to viper.
I'm I missing something that it takes in order to switch from Sense 4+ to Sense 5? Something I'm not flashing? Oh and by the way, I'm S-OFF.
Thanks for any help.
Let it sit on that screen for a bit. Just takes some time. If you haven't already, try Hatka Supreme. Best Sense 5 imo.

[Q] Power Button Wake & Sleep Issues on AOSP

I'm hoping someone else has already solved this issue, but I seem to be running into serious problems with AOSP CM ROMs with regards to the power button. Recently I actually bricked my original EVO 4G LTE and got a "new" one via the insurance replacement program with Sprint. I immediately obtained rooted, installed recovery, and obtained S-off. I then proceeded to install CM10.2 (deck's build) and am actually still running 9/20 version of this ROM.
My problem with the power-button is that it sometimes does not respond to a press where it may not wake the screen or sleep the screen. Sometimes it takes 2, 3 or more presses to get it to respond. Additionally, sometimes after the screen sleeps it will immediately wake again. It's as if the button is not properly de-bounced. My first thought was that the power-button was physically broken.
So as an experiment I rolled back to previous versions of CM10.1 and got the same results, even after clean flashes. Then I tried rolling back the stock ROM which came with the phone, from a nandroid backup. Shockingly, no power button issues at all. So with a sense based ROM, it seems to work perfectly, but a AOSP based ROM (specifically, CM10.x) I see the issues.
Could this be a kernel issue? Anyone else seen or resolved this issue already?
Thanks. Sincerely,
Frustrated.
Yeah I have that sometimes too although occasionally it won't even wake up and will have shut off by itself

Promising update.
I updated the latest TP firmware from Captain Throwback, on a whim. While it doesn't seem to have fixed the issue, it seems much improved. The jury is still out - and it's only been an hour or so since I installed, so this is hardly enough data to say definitively. But promising.

So your power button was bad with the stock ROM too? That's a bummer. At least mine seems to work OK with the stock ROM. Maybe I should try some modified stock ROMs to see if there is a difference there.
You're not alone. My brother and I both have EVO's and we're both experiencing this issue. It's annoying as hell having to press the power button multiple times to wake the device. Didn't start having this issue until the end of the CM.1 cycle. I also went back to Sense and found no problems. It only appears to occur on non sense ROMs. Does anyone have any insight to this or possibly a fix?
It's a kernel issue. That problem did not pop up until the 3.4 kernels started coming out.

Well that's great news (sort-of) and means that some day someone could potentially resolve this in the kernel. Maybe we need to X-Post with the CM10.2 development forum, unless they are already aware and are working on this.

There were certain nightly/kernel mixes with the 10.2 and Haunted kernel that seemed to clear it up for me.
I can't for the life of me remember which combination. Sorry.
One thing that alleviated that for me a bit was enabling "Volume Buttons Wake Up Handset" or whatever it was.

Yup, expected to have a few hiccups using bleeding edge ROMs & kernels. Glad to hear that these types of things are being addressed. The Haunted kernel definitely makes things much, much better. It's definitely daily driver quality now.
As a side note, I've also noted that the WiFi seems to work better with the Haunted kernel as well. Not sure if that's related, but where I used to have difficulty staying connect to WiFi at home and at work, it now seems rock solid. Still a bit too early to be definitive, but so far so good.

Haunted Kernel is still behind some, last I checked. So while you may have some benefits, you will lose/miss some fixes/optimizations. But to each his own.

Good to know. I will keep flashing and keep trying the new builds as they become available. For now, this seems to be a good combo for me. The current Haunted governor actually kinda seems to be draining the battery fast so I may tweak that. Anyway, thanks for all the responses here, this has really enlightened me on this issue.
