[Q] Any Exact Date For ICS Update? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hey Guys...
Anybody Knows An Exact Date For ICS Release?
What I Had Previously Heard Was Late March/Early April, If I'm Not Mistaken...
Is That Still The Same?

I think SE will release ICS update after they release neo L.
Hope they release it soon.

Same here buddy

Apart from being a particularly naive question, it depends on phone model, region and carrier (or carrier free). ICS won't suddenly appear... it is rolled out over time. Which is explained on the Sony site in great detail. Go look.

Once You've Got An Unlocked Bootloader (Just Like Me And Many Others), It Doesn't Matter The Update Is Available For Your Phone Or Not, Since You Can Flash It Through Flashtool, So, Not Much Naive As You Are..!
And For The Second Part, Sony (Ericsson) Always Delays Its Roll Outs, Blogs.SonyEricsson.Com Is Not A New Thing Which I Haven't Seen Yet, But I Thought That Maybe People Around Here Know Better, I Couldn't Imagine We Have Rude People Here...!!!!

He wasn't being rude, he was right. You are asking for an "exact date" for the update, which is a very naive question. How will people here know better if Sony themselves haven't said anything except saying "end of march/early april"? There are no exact dates for updates in the Android world. Just letting you know. Don't go thinking people are rude just because they said something you didn't like.
Btw, Sony is late usually, but this time I think they might be on time/not too late, but that's just wishful thinking.

3rd update !

sent from my ICS flavored HTC Vigorous Vigor. If I helped please use the "thanks" option!
if this is true, it would be awesome, but i hope to get a way to ruu to get this update from leaked ruu?
sigh I just got my rez back from repair and was 5 minutes from flashing the leaked ics until I read this.
Well if it is true then we might see a leaked final a few days earlier if we are lucky.
I've been holding out on flashing the RUU, maybe a good thing.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
I have not flashed the leaked RUU yet either. I learned my lesson with leaked software about 2 years ago when a leak for Eclair came out for Eris.. We all flashed it and then we were all stuck there for like 6 months, until someone figured out an exploit that allowed us to finally move on to the official update.

Not that I advocate going with the leak at this point (assuming this post is accurate), but I can't imagine HTC would release an OTA with a lower version than the leaks.
I'm a pretty firm believer that the leaks are really just betas, and we are their testers. They get a plethora of bug reports, free development, and make their most finicky customers happier with their products through 'leaking' us the goods!
I certainly hope so anyway. But if not, I'm very happy with the current state of the Rezound.
I hope the leak we just got wasnt the final. Needs more work IMO..then again we got devs to fix htcs screw ups. Will be nice to have source for kernels.

I don't know. That is just another site showing the same thing. I wouldn't hold my breath until an announcement from Vzw is released.
Only thing lacking, IMO, is how buggy the clock speed jumping around is; which should be kernel-related.

DesignGears is the guy behind several roms that were based on stock, going as far back as Cognition for the Captivate.
He is also, I believe the person who posted the stock recovery images for the Samsung Captivate and came up with the mechanism for recovering the Captivate to stock.
I ran his rom (Cognition) on my Samsung Captivate for at least a year, updating as he released new versions until he stopped development on Froyo and jumped to Gingerbread, around this time, Cyanogen began development and I used Cyanogen instead of Cognition because they supported the Froyo bootloaders, his rom did not after he went to Gingerbread (it required updating the bootloaders).
I even remember a short dialog where I pushed to use the Pacman script from Cyanogen in order to both make his rom download smaller but also so that users had more of a choice as to what apps they wanted on their phone.
DesignGears (DG for short) is one of the key developers that got the Captivate rom development off the ground. While Im sure someone else would have gotten around to it, he is the guy who kicked it off and figured it all out. Dont dis' the guy, if he has a Note and begins development, my hope is that we will start to see more development for the Note. At only three custom roms, all heavily based on stock, we have yet to really see this phone at its full potential.

Anyway, i wont bet on anything offical; while i am sure there are examples, not many HTC phones get more than one update.. we are still waiting on ICS.
That said, i have more hope that once we have a working RIL (among other components) that a CM JB will come along. Given that this new version shouldn't be the leap that ICS was, i doubt we will need a whole new kernel.. probably just tweaks here and there (possible once we get source)..

Apple may be better at rolling out new os but I have very little experience with them. I can only go by what I hear. That being said I still won't be buying any apple products. Between my evo 3d, toshiba thrive, desktop pc and my chromebook i'm very happy. I can do so many things apple users only dream about. Yes apple can do some things I can't, not anything i'm really interested in though.
With Apple your forced to wait to get something till they decide you can have it. I like flashing roms and the custom things we can do. I would like to see google make a standard dock for all the different device makers to put into there devices.

Dont run CM9 on a slot in boot manager. It wont charge. Use it as the phone rom and itll work fine. Just an fyi if you do choose to flash it.
Cant wait to make a custom rom from the ota.
Might even post on xda ^>^

This may be a noob question, and I am sorry for it, but say the Thunderbolt does get the ICS update...
Am I going to have to unroot my phone and install the OTA to get it and then wait for another rooting method, or can I keep my current root and just wait for a ROM build from ICS?
Or am I just being retarded?
Because ICS is Opensource the source code would have to be released by HTC to run on this phone. I would say that there would be a market of modded roms to choose from.
Tbh it feels like HTC is afraid to release ICS knowing that their source code would have to be released. I think they probably see that as a loss of control over this product. From what I've seen there aren't many differences between their phones besides software and open source is a nightmare for companies like that. Why would we upgrade phones when we could use this rom with that phone's features. An example is the source wasn't even out for the Galaxy S III and someone already posted S-Voice to the Nexus S 4G. See what I mean. This is why I'm skeptical about them releasing ICS for these phones.

Not the source just RIL info.. That's all we need.

Either way will work.
Here's my opinion FWIW, I don't want the OTA update when it comes because VZW has already stated it will have Sense 3.x so it'll look and feel much like your current software. I'll wait until the devs have created ICS ROMS with Sense 4.x and try one or more of them.
NOTE: none of the above means your not being retarded, ask your wife for that information! <G>

Haha.
I wasn't wanting to take the OTA either. Rather, I was wanting to wait for an ICS ROM as well. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to unroot to upgrade it to a 4.x based ROM, then reroot.

HTC promised it to be released by the end of this month. Hopefully they do cause I'm switching to the dinc LTE soon.

If they do cram sense on the ICS build the ill be waiting for an AOSP build. The whole point of ICS is the user experience and most things sense gives you come naturally in ICS.

It will most definitely be sense 3.6.

This is great news!! I asked Verizon and they also said it should be coming this month. Anybody knows exactly what we can expect in ICS?

I'm hoping we can get jelly bean soon too but the devs will probably be able to make a ROM for it soon after we get the ics ota released.

Has anyone thought that maybe these are just PR people that have no real idea what's going on behind the scenes with their developers and are just looking at a list of devices that are still on the list against devices that are confirmed to be cancelled?
