Sorry if its been asked before, but is there any way to disable those extremely irritating confirmation prompts every time you turn on data? (hack, mod or otherwise)
I have to say SE really did not think that through. Do they really think every user really needs to be reminded absolutely every time they turn on data? The prompt warning me about turning it off makes me less likely to do so, cause turning it back in will result in the prompt again! (which is a problem when the phone is lagging for example, and you have to wait for the prompt to appear)
Any help would be appreciated

yes, next time please use SEARCH button or simply GOOGLE.

I hope you are talking about the same as in the link, if not you have to search anyway
I did search several times. Didn't find any results.
I was unaware the X10 (in fairness it is a lot older) worked the same way so wouldn't have considered results for it.
Thanks anyway
if i were in your place...i may have done the same thing bro...how can we think that the answer of our query is in the forum of some other phone model.

Hey guys I searched, but couldn't find anyone with the same issue, so hopefully someone could help me. My touch pro is Sprint (Don't know if it makes a difference), but I can not answer any of my calls being hardware buttons or screen, nothing works. I've been using s2u2 and never had a problem, but I uninstalled it thinking there may have been an issue, but no, still happening. Sometimes if i hit either the hardware or software key a bunch of time it will answer, but only like every 1 out of every 10 times. Also I've been calling myself to check and the call will only come through 1 out of 10 times. Any ideas what could be causing this?

I agree. go to settings, clear storage and type in 1234
phone will reset to factory
Can't Answer Calls
Before you do a hard reset, I recommend that you read this thread on ppcgeeks http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=40427 , it took a a couple of weeks to figure this out, but it worked for me.
Good Luck.
Hi all. My S2 seems to have stopped recognising my SIM card, and won't display the IMEI number when I type *#06#. I think it may be related to this issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7997364
The network name is just shown as "(No service)", there is an exclamation triangle at the top left of my status bar, and a flight mode logo at the top right. Interestingly the phone is not actually in flight mode, long pressing the power button gives me the option to turn it on - but it never actually does it, it just sort of hangs in the process. Trying to access the mobile networks area of settings throws up the error "insert SIM card to access network services".
Unfortunately I have never rooted my phone, flashed or backed anything up.. so the majority of that thread doesn't really apply (or make much sense!) to me. This just started when I was putting my phone in and out of flight mode today. Based on this, what would be everybody's recommend plan of action? I found an app on the marketplace which seems to be designed to sort this out (assuming it's the issue in the thread I linked):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.helroz.GSII_Repair&hl=en
Like I say though, I've never actually rooted my phone. Do people agree it may be worth trying to root my phone for this app? I'm no longer under warranty anyway. I was also wondering about doing a factory reset - does anybody know if that would fix this issue, or does it not touch the files which are causing the issue?
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE 1 - just read that a factory reset won't do anything, so ignore that question - unless that's incorrect! Swinging towards rooting and getting busybox so I can run that app. All stuff which I know nothing about unfortunately.. I know I'll be able to find it online, but if anybody happens to have any nice easy guides, please feel free to post them here and save me some time
UPDATE 2 - fixed! Here's what I did, in case it helps anybody..
Rooted my phone using the following steps from Chainfire (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399):
- Unzip the attached CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.zip (these files can be downloaded from the same thread)
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select CF-Root-xxx-vX.X.tar
- Put your phone in download mode
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
Downloaded and used this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.helroz.GSII_Repair
Thanks to everybody who replied, and donations will be made to Chainfire and Helroz
If you've got no warranty you have nothing to lose by rooting your phone & trying the fixes, right ?
Thread stickied near the top of Q&A & the guides/tutorials stickied near the top of General have all the info you'll ever need.
Im experiencing issues with losing my IMEI for no apparent reason, but I am rooted and have efs backup so its matter of minute or two to restore it. However Would like to know why its happening...
In this post might be solution for your case considering you dont have EFS backup already...

Yeah, pretty much! Just slightly nervous as it's not something I know anything about at the moment, don't want to do more harm than good.

Thanks for that link, I had seen it but was unsure because it seems to be designed for people who've flashed a custom ROM, which I haven't.. but not sure if that would make a difference?
As MistahBungle said, probably not got much to lose so I'll give rooting a try. Has been on my to-do list for a while anyway. If I can't fix it that way, is this something that a Samsung service centre would deal with, or how else would I go about this?
Another quick question - I've noticed that my battery is now draining very quickly, just since this has started happening. Battery usage shows "cell standby" as being the main culprit, 95%. I've had a search about this, I'm guessing it's to do with the fact that my phone is constantly trying to get onto a network? The time is "100% without a network signal". Seems logical to me, but I wouldn't have thought it would do that if there's no SIM inserted in the phone..? Unfortunately I still can't seem to actually put the phone fully in flight mode, despite there being a flight mode logo in the notification bar. Oh well!
EDIT - this has been resolved, don't worry about answering my questions if you stumble across this thread. Details of the fix in the first post
Is anyone experiencing an issue where every time you dial and have a conversation, if you have a PIN code set on the phone, it automatically always requires you to enter your pin after you hang up the call? Even if you haven't reached the max time for entering the PIN.
Don't think its related to 17.1 as its been happening for several months now....

Sorry man but I don't think anyone is going to know what you're talking about. You posted a question (most likely regarding a specific rom) in an area that isn't for questions and is not referring to any particular thread or rom...post it in the thread of the rom you are running! Then you should find some help...If it's a general question about the stock ROM, post it in the Q&A section.
Hey all. I originally posted this in the Mate 9 forum inadvertently but meant to post it here.
My wife and I both have the Mate 10 Pro. She lost hers at work several days ago. I located it using the Find My Device app. I also locked it so nothing in it was compromised just in case she didn't find it. She ends up finding the phone and can't unlock it. She brings it home for me to take a look at and I notice that I can't even input the whole password before it shows up as invalid. Apparently the input limit is 16 characters and the password I used when locking it remotely was 17 characters. I offered to factory reset it for her but she said no because she has a bunch of pictures on there she doesn't want to lose. Basically, her cloud photo storage is full and the last month and a half of pictures haven't been backed up. Is there anything I can do to at least retrieve her photos?
Has it ever been connected to a PC and ADB permission granted? If so connect to same pc and pull the content you want to back up. Otherwise it might be a question for Google. Also factory reset may not work in it's locked state due to recent Android anti theft measures.
Sent from my HUAWEI ALP-L29 using XDA Labs
Thanks for the reply. The only time it's ever been connected to a PC was using HiSuite to back up the phone before a factory reset a few months ago. I just feel bad and was hoping to fix it. I did post up a question on the Google help forum and haven't received a response. I guess I'll just give it several more days and if I can't figure out a resolution, I'll just factory reset the phone and see if I can at least get her phone back to her. I don't think she cares for the battery life of my old HTC 10... Thanks again.
If the password is too long then make her request a password change bro it's common sense.
I appreciate the input. I will try again when I get home but I'm almost positive you can only set the password one time through the "Find My Device" app. Once it's set, there is no changing it.

I think It uses the same password as the google account that locked it. also try to log in on another phone or computer and try to see if you can unlock it, also the limit is 100Characters for google password So I don't think that's the problem.

So, just for the sake of clarity, I'll explain in more detail. My wife never uses a screen lock or password on her phone. When I "secured" the device using the Find My Device app, I put in a password to lock it. That password is 17 characters long. When the phone boots up, it asks for a password. The problem is, the phone will not allow me to input more than 16 characters. I tried truncating the password and that doesn't work either. I've tried her google password and it's a no-go. I've tried connecting it using the HiSuite software but the software doesn't see the phone. I've asked on the google help forums and haven't received any response.
Currently, my wife is using an old phone and I'm trying to find a workaround. Using the Find My Device app right now and it doesn't see the phone, so there is no option to relock with a different password (don't think that is possible anyway).
I have tried to do the same thing on my phone now and it is asking for the unlock PIN, the same PIN what I use after restarting the phone.
So, I can not believe that your phone does not accept that PIN/password because the password can be up to 32 characters long.

yea something seems fishy here OP must have stole it or found the phone and the real owner have it locked it, so there's "supposedly" his wife is the owner of the phone she is the one who locked it first so I don't see the problem with her unlocking it because to lock it it must be done from a computer or a different phone.

Thanks for the accusation. You sound like a fun person to be around. I, me, myself, locked the phone through "Find My Device". I only did that because she did not have any type of screen lock/password/PIN on the phone. Once the phone was rebooted, "Find My Device" couldn't even locate the phone again. As far as the other comments about password length, all I can say is I locked the phone with a password (using my computer) that was 17 characters long and when typing said password into the phone, as soon as I hit the 16th character, the phone said invalid password. Apparently I'm not the only person that's had this issue...

To everyone else, I appreciate the help. I just ended up wiping it. My "wife" isn't too mad at me. Just lost a bunch of pictures of our kiddo.
Is there any way to disable the "routine security check" that makes the phone ask for your password to unlock the phone rather than using the fingerprint sensor?
I'm getting real ****ing tired of trying to quickly unlock my phone, just to see that I have to type my password in for some stupid security check.... like WTAF?!
Any help or info is appreciated, thanks in advance.

go to the settings in your phone and try to look for anything that can help then you should be able to disable it.
I have not found any way to stop the routine security check...yet! It happens randomly. Sometimes it seems to happen every few unlocks and at other times I don't see it for a few days! No rhyme or reason here, and for now no apparent way to turn it off.
