Is there any way to disable the "routine security check" that makes the phone ask for your password to unlock the phone rather than using the fingerprint sensor?
I'm getting real ****ing tired of trying to quickly unlock my phone, just to see that I have to type my password in for some stupid security check.... like WTAF?!
Any help or info is appreciated, thanks in advance.

go to the settings in your phone and try to look for anything that can help then you should be able to disable it.
I have not found any way to stop the routine security check...yet! It happens randomly. Sometimes it seems to happen every few unlocks and at other times I don't see it for a few days! No rhyme or reason here, and for now no apparent way to turn it off.

I was having problems with my data connection not working so I reset the phone and restored with titanium backup. Got the data working again, but now there is no security lock. I can enter no numbers or any numbers and hit the OK button and the phone unlocks. When i go to location and security and click on change screen lock, the next screen appears briefly then closes. The swipe fingerprint button on that screen is greyed out. So the security feature is disabled.
I have all the files from an older titanium backup when the screen lock was working. I am wondering if there are any files i can replace to get it working again. Any ideas appreciated--
Fingerprint Restore Problem
If anyone finds a solution to this problem, would you mind posting it?
This is the second thread I have come across while looking for the answer, and like a lot of the time when the original poster figures out a fix, the solution is never posted in the forums.
I just ran into this problem this morning, and I'm running in circles trying to figure out a fix. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer on the issue.
Thank you,

My screen lock is still disabled.
did anyone figure this out? im having trouble changing my screen lock. it keeps briefly going to the swipe finger authentification then popping back to the location and security settings screen. i cant change anything
Is there anyone who can help with this?
I seriously want to throw my phone at the wall right now...
I just flashed my Atrix and reloaded all backups from titanium pro and the issue I'm having has to do with my security settings. Every time I click on "Change Screen Lock" the prompt for my fingerprint comes up for a second and then goes away.
I had a fingerprint prior to the flash and I believe that's why I'm having an issue. I've already tried clearing data in Titanium pro for my settings and my fingerprint scanner 2.2.1.
I can't think of anything else to do, any help would be appreciated.
I shouldn't reply to this with an answer because YOU should know how to search as this has been discussed many times before (4 old threads that i can count).

Yeah, well I didn't see those threads so maybe you know something I don't...
Anyway, I don't understand that fix. I ended up just deleting the backup in titanium and flashing again, now all is well.
Thanks for the help any way.
Sorry if its been asked before, but is there any way to disable those extremely irritating confirmation prompts every time you turn on data? (hack, mod or otherwise)
I have to say SE really did not think that through. Do they really think every user really needs to be reminded absolutely every time they turn on data? The prompt warning me about turning it off makes me less likely to do so, cause turning it back in will result in the prompt again! (which is a problem when the phone is lagging for example, and you have to wait for the prompt to appear)
Any help would be appreciated

I hope you are talking about the same as in the link, if not you have to search anyway
I did search several times. Didn't find any results.
I was unaware the X10 (in fairness it is a lot older) worked the same way so wouldn't have considered results for it.
Thanks anyway

well android is android, some stuff(read: most of them, which aren't related to hardware) are same across different phone models. have that in mind next time
Coming from Samsung here, so this feature is very new for me.
Does the knock to wake feature work if you're set on pattern lock? Or does it only work when you have knock code set as your security?
Reason I ask is because I initially had the knock code set as security, then changed to pattern after I set Android Pay. BUT, knock to wake has been working for me the past two days (even with the pattern lock ON)...until 2 hours ago.
Now the only way I can knock wake the device (or even access the second screen) is either to set the security as Knock Code, or press the power button.
Is this behavior normal? I found it weird that the second screen is untouchable with the pattern lock ON.
Knock On will work everytime regardless of your lock screen setting (double tap on the center of the screen to wake device up into lock screen).
Knock Code, however, need to be set to unlock your device, the pattern is of your choice.
Android Pay doesn't accept a knock code as a security measure. I was using it, then was forced to switch to pin after setting up Pay.

ok so correct me if I'm wrong: regardless of your security settings, KNOCK ON will work to wake the device up. Yes?
In that case, something has gone wrong with mine as I can only do knock on when Knock Code is set. Even worse, the second screen shortcuts are only accessible in that mode as well.
I think I just encountered a similar if not the same problem but I'm not sure if it's an app or if it coincides with something I accidentally tapped in the hidden menu last night.
I had been using pattern unlock since I got the phone on friday and double tap to wake the screen was working fine along side fingerprint unlock, now double tapping doesn't work and the second screen does not respond when locked.
EDIT: I just tried knock pattern and it allowed me to wake the screen but the moment I switched back to pattern it stopped responding to screen wake tapping.

sorry to hear about that, seems like you have exactly what I had. Knock on just stopped working out of nowhere.
Good news is, I did a factory reset and it fixed the issue. Albeit, without access to Titanium Backup, it's quite a chore right now to redo all of my setups. Trying LG Backup now just in case.
Give factory reset a try and hopefully it'll solve your issue as well.

Yeah I was kind of afraid I'd have to reset already, barely a week in, lol!
Thanks for letting me know a reset worked, hopefully it doesn't happen again.
I think @knifedroid had the answer. AndroidPay doesn't allow you to use knock. I have the same issue as well...well i guess it's not an issue...it's a feature.

Knock Code is a security method, Knock On is a feature that LG implemented at kernel level to wake up/turn off the device. The issue that we've been having is with the Knock On not functioning anymore.
Long story short the reset restored Knock On (wake).
Long version, I gave the LG Bridge software a shot to do a backup to the PC.
It let me backup just about everything including apps and data, including Humblebundle apps and stock homescreen layouts, so it's probably as close to tatanium as you ca get.
I Haven't gone through updates yet but so far Knock On is still working after a restore, I'll edit if that changes. *crossing fingers*
oh man I'm glad i came to peek this section for this, as i feel like i tapped something wrong in the hidden menu as well. i might wait a little bit to do a reset and see if someone finds out a way to keep the KnockON thing running when screen is off.

Just tried it, no luck. Both knock on and off are still not working.
The issue started for me last night after going to the hidden menu and enabling Fast Dormancy. Disabling it again doesn't help. I guess just avoid the hidden menu is the takeaway here.

ok, sorry bud. Hard reset did the trick for me, but it'll be good to know what caused this and what can we do to solve it.
Now that you mentioned it, I think my issue started after I was playing around with hidden menu as well. Although I didn't recall changing anything.

Yeah, tbh it sounds like a software bug by LG. Just going to the hidden menu seems enough to break the knock on/off. Makes you wonder what else might be getting messed up too that we haven't noticed.
p.s. this thread is why XDA is awesome.. everyone thinking 'omg what happened?' only to see others in exactly the same boat.
This makes sense. I think my knock on stopped working after using the hidden menu to look at the dB on the LTE signal.

So in this case of resetting, would I be able to just grab the system img and flash it without actually doing a hard reset? I don't want to have to set up everything, again.(i had forgotten it was going to reset when I unlocked the BL)
Just confirmed it. Knock on breaks when you try to enter the ims settings menu inside the hidden settings menu. It crashes, then knock on stops.

That looks like you are in the android pay security options. If so, android doesn't think that knock is secure enough for androidpay. Don't think there is anything we can do about it yet.
If you decide to use android pay you cannot use KnockOn pattern unlock to open your phone.

I have an issue guys. When both fingerprint and face unlock options are activated, there are times when using fingerprint to unlock, the screen remains locked with the message 'Slide to unlock after successful facial recognition'. In face recognition options, it is already set to 'Direct unlock'. I do not know why it does that. Any Mate users here who have the same issue? Is it sort of a software bug? Is it because I might have slightly missed the scanning point so that error kicks in?
Usually this happens when the screen is turned off, it scans it, then the display turns on but it pops the message 'Slide to unlock after successful facial recognition'.
Yep, I noticed that too. The phone unlocks directly if only face recognition is activated. When you add fingerprint you need to slide.
I had this issue until i reset now it unlocks perfectly with face unlock.

Exactly, it is a software issue reported on Huawei's forum too.
When fingerprint fail (once or few times, not sure), Huawei decides that the phone requires an extra security step before unlocking, hence the annoying slide to unlock even with direct unlock.
I hope it gets resolved in a future update.

Hey all. I originally posted this in the Mate 9 forum inadvertently but meant to post it here.
My wife and I both have the Mate 10 Pro. She lost hers at work several days ago. I located it using the Find My Device app. I also locked it so nothing in it was compromised just in case she didn't find it. She ends up finding the phone and can't unlock it. She brings it home for me to take a look at and I notice that I can't even input the whole password before it shows up as invalid. Apparently the input limit is 16 characters and the password I used when locking it remotely was 17 characters. I offered to factory reset it for her but she said no because she has a bunch of pictures on there she doesn't want to lose. Basically, her cloud photo storage is full and the last month and a half of pictures haven't been backed up. Is there anything I can do to at least retrieve her photos?
Has it ever been connected to a PC and ADB permission granted? If so connect to same pc and pull the content you want to back up. Otherwise it might be a question for Google. Also factory reset may not work in it's locked state due to recent Android anti theft measures.
Sent from my HUAWEI ALP-L29 using XDA Labs
Thanks for the reply. The only time it's ever been connected to a PC was using HiSuite to back up the phone before a factory reset a few months ago. I just feel bad and was hoping to fix it. I did post up a question on the Google help forum and haven't received a response. I guess I'll just give it several more days and if I can't figure out a resolution, I'll just factory reset the phone and see if I can at least get her phone back to her. I don't think she cares for the battery life of my old HTC 10... Thanks again.
If the password is too long then make her request a password change bro it's common sense.
I appreciate the input. I will try again when I get home but I'm almost positive you can only set the password one time through the "Find My Device" app. Once it's set, there is no changing it.

I think It uses the same password as the google account that locked it. also try to log in on another phone or computer and try to see if you can unlock it, also the limit is 100Characters for google password So I don't think that's the problem.

So, just for the sake of clarity, I'll explain in more detail. My wife never uses a screen lock or password on her phone. When I "secured" the device using the Find My Device app, I put in a password to lock it. That password is 17 characters long. When the phone boots up, it asks for a password. The problem is, the phone will not allow me to input more than 16 characters. I tried truncating the password and that doesn't work either. I've tried her google password and it's a no-go. I've tried connecting it using the HiSuite software but the software doesn't see the phone. I've asked on the google help forums and haven't received any response.
Currently, my wife is using an old phone and I'm trying to find a workaround. Using the Find My Device app right now and it doesn't see the phone, so there is no option to relock with a different password (don't think that is possible anyway).
I have tried to do the same thing on my phone now and it is asking for the unlock PIN, the same PIN what I use after restarting the phone.
So, I can not believe that your phone does not accept that PIN/password because the password can be up to 32 characters long.

yea something seems fishy here OP must have stole it or found the phone and the real owner have it locked it, so there's "supposedly" his wife is the owner of the phone she is the one who locked it first so I don't see the problem with her unlocking it because to lock it it must be done from a computer or a different phone.

Thanks for the accusation. You sound like a fun person to be around. I, me, myself, locked the phone through "Find My Device". I only did that because she did not have any type of screen lock/password/PIN on the phone. Once the phone was rebooted, "Find My Device" couldn't even locate the phone again. As far as the other comments about password length, all I can say is I locked the phone with a password (using my computer) that was 17 characters long and when typing said password into the phone, as soon as I hit the 16th character, the phone said invalid password. Apparently I'm not the only person that's had this issue...
