[MOD][STOCK] Telus/Bell numeric battery and CRT animations - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Thanks to lactardjosh for all of his help.
Here's a flashable CWM ZIP that adds the following to stock Telus and probably also Bell roms:
CRT screen off animation
Numerical battery indicator with round circle and charging animations (thansk to UOT kitchen)
Backup first, and clear dalvik cache. Use CWM Recovery to install.

Nice job, happy to help.
I linked to this from my thread, too.

Just flashed this to a Bell Note (Stock ROM) and got a boot loop. Just FYI.

That's odd, since I got the framework-res.apk from a Bell rom. Did you clear your Dalvik cache first?

There is a good chance I forgot to clear the Dalvik cache. I was flashing a bunch of stuff and I easily could have forgotten. If I flash it again I'll post whether it worked or not.

Any chance of getting this without the battery mod?
Also, is there a way to apply the CRT animation without CWM?

[Q] Custom ROM flashin problem... Only Cognition S2 is working...

I have tried so many times flashing VillainRom / LeoMar75 Revolution ROM similar to what I did for Cognition S2...
None of them work fine...
After CWM says Installation is successful, when I reboot, I could see only Stock OS... The only changes I can see is Samsung apps uninstalled and under About Phone in settings, I could see correct kernel/Build details of VillainRom/Revolution ROM... But why I could not see CWM/superuser app / Custom ROM changes like Notification tweak/ Lock button tweak/ changed theme...
I do full wipe before flashing... I flashed CF Root kernel and then switched off phone... Booted into recovery... Flashed Rom.zip thru CWM...
Everything is fine when I flash Cognition S2... Why other custom ROM not working properly...
Please help...
---
Samsung Galaxy S2
*Cognition S2 1.5.1*
---
If you are coming from Cognition, just do a full wipe and flash the other custom ROM after that. There is no need to flash CF-Root before hand.
Hope thia helps.

Enter ClockWorkMod recovery:
1. Wipe Data/Cache Factory reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Mount/Storage -> Format System
5. Flash Revolution/Villain or any custom rom you want
6. Reboot to System
Everytime... I am following the steps only... But Only Cognition S2 works... The other ROMS which I tried were VillainROM 2.5.1, VillainRom 3.0, LeoMar75(KI3) installed fine but I could not see any changes in UI/ notification/ Lock options...
I just want to know whether VillainROM 2.5.1, VillainRom 3.0, LeoMar75(KI3) have stock ROM UI with only internal changes and no UI/ notification/ Lock options changes...
If you are having rom problems .
total wipe of phone and sd card .
install stock rom
install root and cwm
follow custom rom instructions to flash .

yes, they look like stock with tweaks. Dont expect a totally.different rom. Miui is totally different.. But tw based roms looks like the stock with superuser, and tweaks mostly hidden.
I can suggest to try batista70 foxhoud 2.0, the rom comes with a blue theme, if after you flash this you still have stock (green color) rom, then yes, something is wrong.

Oh I think I get what you mean right now. Most of the ROMs have under the hood changes. Changes that the end user won't be able to see but maybe notice.
If you are looking for themes you can always flash those available in the themes and apps section though! CM7 has quite a different Android experience and theme to it, you might want to try that!

Phone not restarting after applying UOT zip file

Hi there!
I was on XILA2 firmware on my Galaxy S II phone. Cooked this file in the UOT Kitchen. Applied the UOT.zip file in the Recovery mode. But the problem is that the phone is not restarting after that either from the Recovery mode or from the Power button. It gets stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy S II GT-9100" screen. Does not move forward after that screen.
What to do now? How to complete the reboot process? I faced this problem earlier also with Other ROMs, but the phone used to restart after giving it 4-5 tries (from the Power Button). But this time, it is not restarting at all after applying the UOT zip. Have tried two dozen times. Pls help.

1) Make a factory reset in CWM and also format data/system/cache (in mount and storage)... Then flash again.
2) If also doesn't work, search for a flashable kernel for Odin (f.ex. Any firmware), flash it then root again and try an other rom or kitchen .zip
CHEERS ;-)

Dear Hannibal, thanks for taking the time to reply. I didn't do factory reset in CWM coz I did not want to lose my apps and data. I simply flashed the XILA2 Rom again, and it did the trick. Now trying to root and will try another UOT file again. Let's see if it works this time

You need to wipe cache and dalvik cache after applying a uot kitchen zip or it will boot loop.

Nope, did not wipe cache and dalvik cache and it did not go into boot loop. Everything works smooth after flashing XILA2. BUT, it does not restart after flashing the UOT.zip through recovery mode. The screen freezes. Tried it twice.
So to conclude, this means that the UOT Kitchen people will have to do some work to make their files compatible with the latest ROMs like XILA2. I think the kitchen Chefs have fallen behind the times.

Try clearing caches like post before said BUT if even this don't work u can't get around to make a factory reset.
That's why always safe data before flash!

No, I did not. Why do I need to wipe cache & dalvik cache after flashing the UOT zip?? The phone is NOT REBOOTING after flashing the UOT zip file. Don't you get it. The UOT zip file is obviously not compatible with XILA2. XILA2 works fine without the UOT mods.

Oh what u can try is one think (without loosing data, maybe some settings like ringtone etc):
Only format system in mount and storage and then flash the LA2 again. If the mods just modded system setting it should work

I get it, you dont seem to be, the phone wont boot after you flash the UOT zip, for it to boot you need to wipe the cache and dalvik cache, you wont lose data.
The UOT mods can cause incomparability between the changed framework and whats in the cache.

Well, you are asking me to do a wipe of the cache & dalvik cache using Recovery Mode after flashing the UOT zip. Ok I wil try that, BUT I have flashed UOT zips and ROMS dozens of times before successfully and NEVER needed to do this. All I did previously was to flash the UOT zip, choose the option of Reboot system from the recovery mode, and everything used to work.
And now I have flashed XILA2 ROM thrice so far and a new problem has started. The phone is in Flight mode and I cannot open the option of Mobile Networks in Settings. It asks me to insert a SIM card even when the SIM card is already there. So now forget about the UOT mod, I am not even getting a Network signal.

[Q] Problem with ChaosROMv7.2 [Multi~Theme/Framework/Kernel/DPI][RE-FLASHABLE]

Hi
Firstly got to say that I love this rom and all the features that this holds. However while installing the latest version, I encountered a lot of problems. Here is the details of the phone and the installation steps
Phone: Galaxy I9300T
Flashed ChaosROMv7.2 using CWM touch recovery 6.0.3.1
the following features were installed
240 dpi
siyah kernel
chaos framework
aosp lockscreen
some of the apps. (most of them)
hd caller screen
sense 5 theme and icons
then allowed it to install and reboot. After entering the initial information. the phone started and then android.acore.process fc occurred and then I cleared the contacts and contact storage data. Then after changing the settings in the lockscreen I tried to lock the screen. The phone restarted and stuck at boot animation and it never started.
The following are the settings changed in lockscreen settings
1. turned on pin lock
2. changed ink effect color
3. activated weather and news
4. changed wallpaper.
after this I tried to lock and it started and got stuck at boot animation.
Please tell if I went wrong somewhere. This is not my first time in installing custom roms.

Full wipe is - wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache partition , wipe dalvik cache , format/system(under mounts and storage) and then install rom (be sure to have rom as this will delete all system files ) , this should work
go into the settings lockscreen , tick the aosp/jellybean lockscreen and then check your aosp lockscreen should work and then try the pin ?

[Q] Hyperdrive Questions

Hi.
I have a few questions about Hyperdrive dealing with the custom framework animation zip files (from the Hyperdrive Hub app) that you can flash.
What do you need to wipe in order to flash them?
I tried wiping just the dalvik cache and cache and flashing and it will reboot and say Hyperdrive is updating and go through all my apps, but then it will soft boot again and get stuck on the boot animation. So I figured I did something wrong...
So do I have to wipe everything (except sd card) in order to flash any zip file??? Because if so, then I can't restore the system with my nandroid backup because it is a previous backup before I flashed the zip file and thus will erase my flashing. Correct?
So my next question is: every time I flash a zip file do I have to reflash my rom? Because if so, that's a lot of damn waiting (I want to test out more than one animation pack to see which one I like the most) and I'm fed up with waiting. And also then I have to have the rom settle in again every time and I don't want to do that.
Is there a simpler/correct way I am unaware of? How do you do it? Please tell meh!
Thanks
And also I've noticed that when I try to enable the battery percentage display in the actual phone settings it refuses to stay there and always disappears shortly after enabling it (even though the option is still checked). I like the look of the system battery percentage display more than Hyperdrive's. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Again thanks!

Stuck at boot animation after flashing CM 11 ROM

Hi,
I was running BeanStalk-4.4.270 03/18/14 by zymphad. Im not sure what the kernel was.
I tried flashing the ROM by ronasimi in this thread.
The ROM that i picked was cm-11-20140817-UNOFFICIAL-geeb & the kernel was gbx-kernel-lights-CM11.0-CAF.zip. Apart from this i picked the Google Stock package of PA GApps from here.
For flashing i did the following :-
1. backed up all my apps using TB from BeanStalk.
2. loaded the ROM, the kernel & GApps zip files into a folder on my sdcard.
3. rebooted into recovery(TWRP 2.6.xx), backed up my original ROM and lined up all the three flashable zips and flashed them. (The flash was successful)
4. Then i rebooted into system. But after reaching the home screen, i was getting errors "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" & "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped". I remembered it might be because i forgot to wipe dalvik & cache.
5. I again rebooted into recovery, wiped dalvik & system cache and tried booting into system. It was still giving the same issues.
6. I tried restoring my old ROM's backup. Surprisingly even that wouldn't solve the issue.
7. So i again flashed the CM11 ROMs. But this time, the boot process is getting stuck at the boot animation.
My Qs are as follows:-
1. Did i miss anything or do something that is not recommended (or maybe even dangerous)?
2. What should be my next step in resolving this issue?
Any help appreciated.

I tried flashing using TWRP but the flash failed. then I saw the video and thought of giving philz touch cwm a try. it worked like a charm. Thanks a lot for the help. For kernel I flashed gprojx-kernel-lights-CM11.0-CAF-20140414.zip. Everything seems to be working now. Only thing is that I can't seem to turn off NFC. Every time I deselect the check box, go somewhere else and come back, the NFC check box is already checked.
Any tips on that? It's eating up my battery

One last Q p)- I spent almost 30mins combing through settings but I couldn't find a 3G/2G switch. Is it hidden somewhere or it doesn't exist yet in CM11?

Found the shortcut in Settings> Notification Drawer> Quick settings panel> Tiles & layout> Network mode
For some reason i was thinking that this will lead me to the GSM/WCDMA switch.
