When I first started theming my hubs I used several different backgrounds and that worked great for a while. But then I started getting tired of scrolling through different images every screen, it started to hurt my eyes in spite of having nice backgrounds. So I had the idea to make a panoramic homescreen like this.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
All you need is a launcher that allows you to add/remove homescreens like adwlauncher ex, and multipicture live wallpaper to set a different background for each homescreen.
You'll also need to set your transition effect to normal on ADW, and to 'slide' on multipicture live wallpaper.
Here are a few I split to display nicely on the transformer prime.
I don't have any for more than 3 homescreens, so if you need a homescreen for everything you may need to search for multiple display wallpapers to suit your usage. I'll try to add more of these later.

I use an Iconia A500 but still check out the other tablet forums and I must say this looks quite awesome I'll try and make my own wallpapers if i do go this route though. What I'm using right now is a single folder with about 70 wallpapers. The folder is set to rotate through them on Windows 7 and the folder is synced to my tab using Sugarsync (dropbox will also work). Then on the tab, i set up adw not to allow wallpaper scrolling and set the entire folder as a source in Multipicture. So now I have one wallpaper on all 5 homescreens and a doubletap anywhere will rotate it though the list! It's actually really fun to just sit down and cycle through them for a while. Great suggestion though!

My previous setup was similar. I think you can have multiple panoramic backgrounds without them conflicting with each other (like an odd image that doesn't belong) if you put all of screen 1's images in a folder, all of screen 2's images in a folder, and so on. Name them in order - like screen 1 would be A1 in screen 1's folder, screen 2 would be A2 in screen 2's folder - then just change the letter for each different panoramic background you use (b1, b2, c1, c2, etc).
Then go to picture selection in multipicture live wallpaper - and select ascending/descending by name. should work for all the homescreens.

Just added some more - much more for 3 screens than there were before!
If anyone has something they want broken down into a panoramic to use for their prime I am more then willing to help. I built my own custom 7 screen layout in photoshop. Just send me a PM and we can hash out what you want done. I run a hub on mine but you should be able to get away with using the multilive wallpaper app from the market for free without needing a separate launcher.

Thanks for mentioning Zedge. I was up 'til 4 in the morning goofing around with wallpapers. So much for being well rested!
wallbase.net is a good site for Wallpapers. They're all different sizes but if I like one I'll take the 5 seconds to resize it properly in PS. Also interfacelift, but I think everyone knows about that site.
I'm kinda bummed that I have a year's worth of VGA wallpapers collected and now I need to change sizes. Oh well.

I'm having trouble finding high quality wallpapers. Even if the resolution is 960x800 or higher the quality of the image itself may look jaggy when set as wallpaper.look at the preloaded wallpaper and it is crisp and clear and almost pops out of the screen, but all the "hd"wallpapers I have downloaded so far are not very crisp like the preloaded wallpaper once set as such. I'd like a black theme wallpaper too to take advantage of the supposed battery life increase.

so I downloaded a couple wallpapers in 960x800 size. When I go in to set them as my wp it makes me select a cropped area and makes the wp look like crap. How do I make the entire image my wp?
By look like crap you mean it looks too zoomed in?

Yeah it was all blurry. I figured out how to properly crop though. I kept trying to pinch to zoom, but then I tried dragging one of the borders and it resized it properly. Looks good now.
On the app market search for "Backgrounds," it has a large amounts of wallpapers to select from.

I have a small collection of mostly "babe" walls here:
http://picasaweb.google.com/shrivel
Me and a few friends all share a secondary dummy Gmail account on our android phones. Picasa is the only option set to sync on the phone, as such we can all dump wallpapers to this Picasa account and they will show up on all of our phones in the gallery. Its a pretty neat trick and one gigabyte of free space is plenty enough room for quite a few wallpapers.
Most of the galleries are 1920x1082 images, but they look great once cropped.
The first gallery is one of my favorite current artists, Audrey Kawasaki. These images are meant to be used with alternate launcher apps like ADW, that allow you to turn off wallpaper scrolling. If you hide the status bar in ADW with one of these images selected it will give your screen a nice rounded look.

Have you tried another Launcher? ADW Launcher EX is working awesome and you can choose the size of the desktop icons and how many show up on the screen.

ADW is my preferred launcher as well, even lets you backup your settings/desktop which is very nice. Search for "wallpaper" in the Nook Color forums to find fixes for that--QuickPic or whatever it's called helped me a lot and made the whole process much smoother. Also, opt for .png files (convert them if you have to) as they scale better. Make sure to format the backgrounds to the appropriate resolution.
Also maybe check your build.prop and see if your LCD Density is off. Have you altered it?
Your abrasive approach to the problem lightened my day
Something must be off on your NC, because I am using Zeam and Fancy Pro ... and it looks phenomenal.
I would uninstall and reinstall both, reboot and see what you get.
Could you post a pic perhaps? Hold down the "n" button and quickly press "-" (minus key for Volume).

Wallpaper Set & Save in the market will help with some image quality problems. Not sure what problems you've had with JPG images, you mention scaling, so maybe that's why I haven't had any problems since all the JPGs I use look phenomenal, but are sized correctly at 1200x1024.
I have the Zeam launcher and it works like a charm. I used pretty much all the launchers and finally settled down on Zeam because it lets me do the most customization (especially the dock). Combined with Super Keys and Apps Organizer, it gives the best flexibility IMHO.
Try using the stock launcher to set the wall paper & then switch back to Zeam. That works for me. Zeam seems to zoom the wallpaper too much.
Cheers,
kev
Finally got this working with high rez backgrounds
I also was having nothing but problems with this, no matter what I tried I would always get blurred/zoomed in backgrounds. Finally, I found the application QuickPic by alensw.com which did the trick (search for QuickPic in the marketplace).
Use it to navigate to the image you want to use as a background, tap the down arrow in the upper right (tap the screen if it doesn't show), and select the option "Set As" and the next menu select "QuickPic Wallpaper" and then adjust the box to fit what you desire and press the "save" icon on the upper right. This will take a moment, and when its done you can exit the application and enjoy your high res background.

its based on adw but its made more for tablets! try it
I use Zeam and QuickPic and Wallpaper Changer but what made my wallpapers look right was resizing to 750h x 1024w. Now they look good no matter how I set them. I don't know about the widgets though.
Crop wallpapers from the market did the trick for me. I'll post my settings for it when I get to work:

hey I read this yesterday and forgot to post. I recommend using ADW EX and download free from the market an app called WallpaperCASA. I had the same nasty gradient blocky problem you did for wallpapers and everything. ADW EX actually does some things for mdpi devices to make them look like nicer HDPI devices. give it a try
Zeam actually did the best job making my wallpapers look good. You need to check the "manage wallpaper internally" option under settings. The image still gets cropped a little but it is significantly better than any of the other launchers mentioned. ADW, VTL and LPP made the papers look terrible in landscape mode. Not sure how it compares to some of the market apps others have suggested.

Hey Guys,
Something I made when I first got my nook (about 4 days ago!)
USed bits n pieces from here:
http://yankoa.deviantart.com/art/MetroDroid-200340391 (raw circle icons)
Some other dude gave me the idea wil post if i see him again,
Achieved using:
Folder organiser (for apps)
Desktop Visualiser
Download the Icons here:
http://s1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff438/androidatnight/
Icons so far:
Settings
Applications
Games
Books
Music
Spotify
Office (x3)
I might work on this to add more icons, but tbh if you want more icons you can add them using the afore mentioned icons from DA, and using an attached icon as a template, I may make some widget skins and lock screen skins to complement this if I have the time
For the set up I use one homescreen on ADW with desktop bounce set to 0.

ooops thanks, uploaded them to photobucket instead, dropbox wouldn't play nice
Man, that looks clean! I really like it. So, do you suppose this could work with Zeam as well?
should do, as long as you can use desktop visualiser and re size widgets it shoud work

Awesome! In an attempt to minimize all clutter, I think this would go a long way.
How does it look like when you tap on an icon?
Have you assigned folders to the icons?, or are they just shortcuts to apps?
I liked to use your icons as folder icons. But I don't know how to do this in desktopvisualizer. also the standard folders aren't so pretty.
any ideas?
edit: got it to work with folder organizer.
could you make a office folder icon, that would be the only one I needed to complete my desktop. thanks.
Ill add some more icons when I have some free time
Updated my photobucket with 3 new office ones (same icon 3 diff colors hopefully one fits) and a spotify icon
Thanks very much for the icons, I actually needed the red icon to match the rainbow.
I took a office icon you made and changed the background color to red.
Looks very nice now.
Edit: Nevermind, figured it out.
Thanks for sharing. Seen this on youtube. Will try this on my Nookcolor.
Btw, how many desktop columns & rows did you set for ADW? I'm running CM7 with Tablet Tweaks (mad murdock) and can't get the spacing between item small enough. Thanks
I have this same problem. But I think it's because of tablet tweaks having the status bar at the bottom, as he was using the regular CM7 nightlys... Could be wrong though.
It looks nice by me.
I've got 6 columns and 10 rows with launcherpro.
desktopvisualizer icons offcourse are set to 4•1 and I have to drag them bigger so they fit.

edit: nvm
Mine caps out at 8x8 so i can only fit four at a time. How did you get it to allow 10x10?
use adw and disable the dock and make it 8x8 but then fits 2 more so looks like 10x10

That's pretty cool, do you think you can post a tutorial?
I'm wondering how you get the different wallpapers for each "hub". Is that one wallpaper stitched together of different images, or some sort of live wallpaper?
I used MultiPicture Live WallPaper & Apex
I'll try to do a write up on how I did it, when I'm home..
Just took sometime to get the settings right so that all 5 screens would scroll right and for them to look good in portfolio view..

I love what you've done. Just a quick question: does the launcher you're on affect multipicture live wallpaper? I have tried it numerous times on Nova launcher, and despite changing settings, I can never get it to display different wallpapers (they're always the same on each screen). Looking forward to your 'how-to' to see if I missed anything- thanks

This is an small app that lets you crop an image freely when trying to set the wallpaper or lock screen background.
In the Jelly Bean stock and stock-based ROMs, is not possible to properly set the home and lock screen wallpapers, due to a nice new feature of keeping the crop box aspect fixed to a square, but the area to be cropped is a smaller rectangle.
When trying to set the lock screen wallpaper with a portrait image, the always squared crop box touches the lateral borders of the image, forcing you to select a much smaller area -possibly scaling the picture-, and thus leaving us in a less than optimal situation, unhappy with our powerful pocket computer that could do much better with such a trivial task.
This lazily done app comes as an option when you try to set a wallpaper, and just calls the stock Gallery app with a crop action without the aspectX and aspectY parameters that lock the aspect of the crop box.
Note: This app needs the stock Gallery or Note 2 Gallery.
UPDATE:
2013/16/22 [v1.51]
- Fixed character encoding error in image paths.
- Other minor fixes.
2013/06/09 [v1.5]
- Prevents hiding part of wallpaper behind status bar.
- Lock screen wallpaper can be cropped to any size.
- Can work with AOSP's Gallery.
- Launcher icon with settings for some of the above features.
- Fixed screen rotation bugs.
If wallpaper scrolling is enabled, it's better to select an squared area or wider, or else you will see black bars to the sides or a scaled image. This version lets you choose what happens in that case.
2013/05/06
- Works with Quickpic.
- Better lockscreen wallpaper size (checks status bar height).
- Home screen wallpaper maximum width is 960; minimum is 800.
- Checks if lockscreen wallpaper is writable. If not, S2 Gallery handles it.
2013/05/05
- Handles all lock screen wallpaper process. Works on Note 2 Gallery.
MAY NEED ROOT. This works by saving the image directly to the Gallery data folder.
- Lock screen crop box is fixed to match the screen.
- No lateral black bars in home screen.
- Signed. You must uninstall the previous version before trying to install this one.
- Kick ass icon.
2013/04/23
- Processes and sets Home wallpaper to prevent zooming.
- Checks whether the Gallery activity exists.
